President Donald Trump is reportedly moving forward with plans to repaint the presidential aircraft, aka Air Force One, with his preferred color scheme. It will be the first big visual change to the iconic plane in over six decades.

Air Force One will get repainted as per Donald Trump’s preferred colors

The presidential aircraft will reportedly trade its classic robin’s egg blue and white appearance for a striking red, white, dark blue, and gold palette. The current design has been a staple since the Kennedy administration, but Donald Trump’s vision wants to bring a more patriotic aesthetic to the sky.

A Department of the Air Force spokesperson claimed the changes to People, stating, “The Air Force is implementing a new paint scheme requirement (red, white, gold, and dark blue) for VC-25B as well as the additional executive airlift fleet, which will include the new 747-8i and four C-32 aircraft.”

Additionally, according to CBS News sources, Donald Trump’s updated colors will appear on multiple aircraft, including a donated Qatari jet and two Boeing planes currently being converted specifically for Air Force One duty. Some aircraft have already received the new paint job during scheduled repairs and maintenance.

Moreover, the redesigned look extends beyond the primary presidential aircraft. The C-32 fleet, which serves as Air Force Two when the vice president is aboard, will also feature the new color scheme. “The C-32s will be painted during regularly scheduled maintenance. The first C-32 has been painted and is expected to be delivered to the Air Force in the next few months,” the Air Force spokesperson added. The smaller C-32 aircraft transports the vice president, first lady, Cabinet members, and congressional leaders worldwide, according to the Air Force website.

This isn’t the first time Donald Trump has pursued this redesign. CNN reports that the change was initially proposed during his first term but reversed by the Biden administration. In 2022, a spokesperson explained that darker colors “might contribute to temperatures exceeding the current qualification limits of a small number of components.” Those concerns have apparently been resolved.
