The insider also claimed William disagreed with Charles’ decision to intervene after Uganda withdrew from the Invictus Games. “In William’s view, it was a huge mistake for Charles to step in,” the source said. The insider alleged that William wants Charles to “totally wash his hands” of the situation and claimed the issue could become a priority once William takes the throne.

According to the insider, William believes it would be best to resolve the couple’s status at once rather than let the confusion drag on. His goal, the source says, is a day when Harry and Meghan can no longer trade on their royal ties.

The source says William has reluctantly accepted he may be playing a longer game than he’d originally hoped. “What he won’t accept is defeat,” the insider said. Additionally, RAVEC reportedly requested detailed schedules from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. That includes daily routines involving Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five. Their school runs could help officials assess potential risks.

Meanwhile, Harry already received a Risk Management Board analysis in July. However, he has not yet learned its conclusions. At that point, officials reportedly did not know the family planned an extended UK return. Harry previously argued he did “not feel safe” bringing his children without official protection.

For context, King Charles issued fresh royal guidance on September 7 following the Sussexes’ return. The letter stated there was “no change” to their status as non-working royals. It said officials should contact Buckingham Palace where “recourse to public funds” might be required. However, it directed “operational security issues” to the relevant police authorities.

They are then visited by the fake Duke and Duchess of Sussex, announcing that they’re back. Overall, the sketch poked fun at the royal drama, Markle’s cooking, the Sussexes’ finances, and their non-working royal titles.

“SNL UK”‘s Season 2 premiere saw Larry Dean and Emma Sidi portray King Charles and Queen Camilla, while Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye played way-too-affectionate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The sketch begins with fake Charles and Camilla sharing a moment of peace in a cozy room at Balmoral Castle. The king appreciates the downtime before making a sarcastic remark that draws massive laughs. “Clean Scottish air, dirty Scottish people … bliss,” he adds. Camilla replies that she loves their relaxing weekends away from the responsibilities. Then, they are paid a visit by the fake Sussexes.

The scene moves on to Markle presenting Camilla with an ice tray as a gift, a jab at the former’s deep interest in cooking, which she had openly stated several times. She says that she made the ice herself and would share her recipe. Harry steps in to back his wife, saying that she hires the best chefs.

Later, the fictional Sussexes become overly affectionate, creating an awkward atmosphere in the room, as evidenced by the monarch’s and queen’s discomfort. Charles then asks his younger son as to why he is back in the UK and whether he has spent his Netflix money already. To this, Harry replies, “Daddy, it was $60 million! How long was it meant to last?”

Furthermore, the fake Harry also subtly makes a bold comment, alluding to King Charles’ recent letter, which clarifies that the Sussexes are private citizens. “Daddy, just because I don’t want to be a royal doesn’t mean I want to be a regular guy,” Harry adds.
