Sister Wives Update: Money Is Still Owed on Coyote Pass

For years, Kody Brown has been trying to get his large, polygamous family on board with the idea of one shared home. However, it became painfully apparent that none of Kody’s four wives wanted to live under one roof. So, the Sister Wives star came up with what he thought could be a compromise. Kody, along with Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, Christine Brown, and Robyn Brown, all agreed to buy land in Arizona to build their dream homes on. However, the project turned into a complete nightmare and left them in debt.

Who owns Coyote Pass?

In 2021, Kody and his four wives purchased parcels on Coyote Pass. Before the demise of the family unit, the family had planned to settle in their own houses. However, as late as 2022, Christine still lived in the house she owned while Meri and Janelle rented. Robyn and Kody had also bought a home in town. The homes were not close together and the spread-out location had the wives realizing they liked being apart. So, it became apparent that multiple spouses were stalling on committing to the big move. At the time, Janelle, who eventually lived on the land in an RV, seemed like the only one willing to still build her forever home.

Together, the Browns spent $820,000 on the land. However, ownership of the land wasn’t split evenly among the family members. There are two smaller parcels and two larger parcels. Kody is the part-owner of all four properties. Fans were surprised to learn that the land had been split into five plots so Kody could build his own home. Naturally, the wives weren’t thrilled with this idea. As of 2024, Christine has sold her parcel back to Kody for $10.

Is Coyote Pass paid off?

The short and sweet answer is no. The 14-acre property has remained untouched since the day the Browns bought it. In an episode, Kody explained that the size of each plot didn’t matter because the acreage was appraised the same. In June 2023, The Sun reported that Janelle had been able to pay off her parcel of land. Janelle and Kody paid off the land in their name and an additional plot in Robyn’s name. The debt on the land was $170,000 each. As of 2023, no permits have been issued for building on the land.

In Season 18, Meri revealed that nothing had been built because they still owed money on the property. The mother of one revealed, “Honestly, the property is the furthest thing from my mind. There’s a lot of family stuff that needs to be worked out.” During Season 18, Kody noted that his second wife had “pestered him about it.” In the same season, Robyn and Meri also fought about the equal division of land. The Lizzie’s Heritage Inn owner felt she had been cheated, stating that her husband had “already made the decision” about the land agreement. Meri went on to reveal that she didn’t think it was fair that everyone was given four acres while she was only given two.

Kody Brown is making moves

In June 2023, In Touch reported that Kody and Robyn owed $4,858.73 in late property taxes for the land. The legal documents listed Kody as the owner. And as of November 2023, Robyn was listed as the owner of three parcels. In August 2024, Sister Wives viewers learned that Kody and Robyn had put their Flagstaff home up for sale. The couple are asking $1,650,000 for their “stunning 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom home offers unparalleled privacy and breathtaking views.” The Zillow listing claims it offers a “luxurious, spa-like en-suite bathroom, complete with a large dual-head shower and built-in shelving in the walk-in closet.”

While it is unclear if Kody and Robyn will relocate to Coyote Pass, most viewers feel they will leave Flagstaff altogether. The trailer for Season 19 has shown Robyn and Kody struggling with their marriage. Kody is currently only legally married to his fourth wife. But he has alienated most of the family thanks to his bride. With the house up for sale, it wouldn’t surprise me if they used some of the money to pay off Coyote Pass and move on from the train wreck that was Arizona.

Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi have had a tumultuous relationship since the start of their 90 Day Fiancé journey. The former couple’s story began on 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days. Angela flew to Nigeria to meet Michael for the first time, where they later got engaged. Despite their 22-year age gap, the former couple were drawn to one another and madly In love. However, things started to get complicated once Michael’s K1 visa application was denied.

This led to Angela deciding to marry Michael in Nigeria, to apply for the spousal visa. The duo’s story continued with several seasons of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? where things started to go south. Eventually, Angela got fed up with Michael’s lying habits, while he simultaneously felt frustrated with her trying to control him. After seven years, Michael finally made it to the United States, where his relationship with Angela soon fell apart. While the couple had dozens of crazy moments leading to their split, these were the most intense.

Angela walked out on Michael’s friends and threatened to not marry him

One of Angela and Michael’s most intense arguments was during Happily Ever After? Season 5. While the former couple was trying to figure out the spousal visa application process, Michael came up with an idea. He felt it would be beneficial for Angela to live in Nigeria with him, while he waited for the visa to be approved. Angela, on the other hand, wasn’t open to this at all. She explained that she needed to be in the United States, as her grandchildren and mother depended on her.

In an effort to try to convince Angela to stay in Nigeria, Michael asked her to meet some of his “friends”. The friends were expats who had lived in both America and Nigeria and Michael felt that they could persuade Angela to live in Nigeria for a while. Angela agreed, but wasn’t thrilled to find out these expats were women. After arriving at the meeting, Angela thanked the women for coming, but immediately turned around to leave. Michael felt frustrated, as he felt Angela didn’t respect the women’s time.

The incident quickly caused Angela to spiral, she claimed that she didn’t plan to marry Michael after what happened. Angela’s reaction was dramatic, as Michael explained that the man in the group who he primarily communicated with hadn’t arrived yet. This was the first of many fights where Angela blew up over something that wasn’t such a big issue.

Angela showed up at Michael’s home in Nigeria without telling him

Another one of Angela’s craziest moments was when she showed up at Michael’s home in Nigeria unannounced. During Happily Ever After? Season 7, Angela became furious when Michael refused to take down his Instagram account. Angela became so infuriated that she decided to catch Michael off guard by flying to Nigeria. If that wasn’t extreme enough, Angela decided to surprise Michael outside his home in the middle of the night.

When Michael didn’t answer immediately, Angela quickly lost it. She began shouting at Michael and banging on his door and windows while demanding that he come outside. When her patience grew thin, Angela began to destroy Michael’s car and tore several parts off of it. Angela screamed that it was her car, as the wife and husband share property under Nigerian law.

Eventually, Michael came outside to stop Angela and called her “mad” for showing up unannounced in the middle of the night. Angela proceeded to shove Michael and things escalated to the point that producers had to break up the altercation. This was one of Angela’s most intense moments and it showed that she would stop at nothing to prove her point. While Michael could’ve handled some things differently, none of his actions toward Angela warranted such extreme behavior.

Angela refused to let Michael make money on Instagram

Not long after the car incident, Angela agreed to sit down with Michael and hear him out. However, it didn’t take long for the conversation to turn into another heated argument. Michael explained that he only kept his Instagram account up so that he could work as an influencer. He felt that it was a good way to make money since Angela refused to send him more money and also wouldn’t let him work. Furthermore, as a Nigerian man, Michael was expected to work to support his family.

Angela wouldn’t budge and insisted that Michael couldn’t have his Instagram account. She quickly became agitated and even kicked the table while screaming that she didn’t care about him making money. Angela then proceeded to stand up and start cursing at Michael, while she called him “an opportunist”.

This was one of Angela and Michael’s most telling fights, that highlighted the issues in their marriage. Michael was trying to find ways to make money and support himself but Angela wouldn’t allow it. Angela further contradicted herself by calling Michael an opportunist, despite him trying to work on social media to make a living. It’s no surprise that Michael finally reached a breaking point and left Angela after arriving in America. Hopefully, Angela and Michael can both learn from their marriage and find love again in the future.
