The Worst Real Housewives Taglines Ever

Photo by: Charles Sykes/Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images

Real Housewives taglines are something of an art form. Some are better at it than others. Say what you will about Lisa Vanderpump, but she nailed it, perfectly delivering the best cheeky lines every season. Some are too bizarre to quantify as good or bad, like Karen Huger‘s Season 8 tagline or Mary Cosby threatening to send Jesus after people in RHOSLC Season 2.

And then there are the taglines that made viewers cringe every week. The ones that still give secondhand embarrassment when remembered years later. These are the worst Real Housewives taglines of all time. Considering how many cities, seasons, and Housewives there’s been over the years, that says a lot.

“I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but I’m pretty” Kristen Taekman, RHONY Season 6

Peacock/YouTube

Before she returned to the franchise in RHUGT RHONY: Legacy, Kristen Taekman was best remembered for one of the worst taglines of all time. Her Real Housewives of New York Season 7 tagline, “Pretty is smarter than you think”, wasn’t much better.

“Are the police involved?” Lauri Peterson, RHOC Season 1

Photo by: Charles Sykes/Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images

To be fair, this wasn’t the Real Housewives tagline format we know and love today. In the first season of OG series Real Housewives of Orange County, clips from the cast’s scenes were played instead. This included Vicki Gunvalson yelling “I don’t want to get old!” But surely there was a better quote for Lauri Peterson than “Are the police involved?”

Every time sound bites from the show are added in the intro, it’s hilariously awkward. Who could forget Kandi Burruss‘ tagline getting interrupted by a clip of her singing “hooooo” in Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 5? Or Emily Simpson’s “New hip!” in RHOC Season 15?

“I live in a house full of ballers, but I never get played” Robyn Dixon, RHOP Season 5

Robyn Dixon RHOP

Does Robyn Dixon lack self-awareness, or is she in deep denial? Because she gets played every RHOP season by one of those ballers she lives with, aka husband Juan Dixon. The Dixons have also been scammed by multiple people.

“They say wisdom comes with age, but I’m proving otherwise” Crystal Kung Minkoff, RHOBH Season 13

It seems like Crystal Kung Minkoff was trying to say she’s wiser than her older castmates. Instead, this tagline sounds like she’s calling herself dumb.

“The only title I’d trade Countess for is wife” Luann de Lesseps, RHONY Season 9

Talk about a tagline that did not age well! Despite the “it’s about Tom” bombshell in Season 8, Luann de Lesseps stayed devoted to Tom D’Agostino. The marriage was doomed from the start, and was incredibly cringe worthy to watch. This tagline is so far removed from the maneater Luann RHONY fans know today, it’s like she’s a different person.

Luann’s tagline for the first three seasons, “I never feel guilty about being privileged”, could also make this list.

“You can never be too young, too thin, or too honest” Joyce Giraud, RHOBH Season 4

The RHOBH one and done Housewife didn’t leave much of a mark aside from this icky, and more or less objectively incorrect, tagline.

“I’m living the American dream, one mistake at a time”

Peacock/YouTube

There’s a lot of things Kelly Bensimon says that make no sense. And this tagline is definitely one of them.

“Now that I got my baby, that’s the only crap I take” Ashley Darby, RHOP Season 5

Photo by: Charles Sykes/Bravo via Getty Images

Why did Ashley Darby choose a tagline about her son’s poop? And why did she seem to do it again the following season, when her tagline was “The only thing messier than two boys is me”? Ashley’s never been great at taglines, but these were a new low.

Stop Trying to Make Holla Happen!

Photo by: Charles Sykes/Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images

There’s a certain type of bad Real Housewives tagline that deserves its own entry. This is when Housewives keep incorporating something, season after season, that does not catch on. One obvious example is Heather Thomson always ending her taglines with “Holla!” which she desperately tried to make a catchphrase. Similarly, Gizelle Bryant found a way to incorporate “word on the street” in her Real Housewives of Potomac taglines for three seasons straight.

In addition to attempted catchphrases, some Housewives make repetitive taglines about one trait. Has Wendy Osefo ever had a tagline that didn’t mention she’s a professor? How many times did Lisa Rinna reference her lips? And we can’t forget how many years Kyle Richards spent emphasizing that Beverly Hills was HER town.

“The only thing I’m guilty of is being SHAH-MAZING!” Jen Shah, RHOSLC Season 2

Jen Shah

When else has a Real Housewives tagline been so bad that it came back to bite them in a court case? In case you’ve been living under a rock, no, Jen Shah did not plead guilty of just being Shahmazing. And during her trial, prosecutors used this quote to argue that Jen mocked the charges against her. Yikes! That might make it the worst Real Housewives tagline of all.

Vicki Gunvalson’s Most Iconic Moments

The OG of the OC, Vicki Gunvalson, is no one to be messed with, as viewers of the Real Housewives of Orange County learned early on in the flagship series. The mother of two was never one to back away from a moment in the spotlight, often setting fans up for some suburb blowout moments that would span a 15-year career.

Family Van

Two words always ring true when quoting from the Book of Vicki; “Family van.” During Season 1, Vicki was on the edge of losing it after she had painstakingly planned a family trip for her husband, children, and a few of their friends. However, they needed transportation to fly out of LAX, which turned out to be a much smaller version than she had expected. Vicki had arranged a limo for the trip, but what turned up was an unwelcomed van. Could this have been the moment the van became synonymous with the Real Housewives? I think so.

The insurance whizz wasted no time in getting on the phone to complain. She conveyed her annoyance through high-pitched screams, asking, “When do you ever bring a family van to pick up six people? This is ridiculous.” Poor Vicki expected a nice stretch limo and to be relaxing with a mimosa, but instead, she gave viewers one of the best scenes of her life.

Tequila Shots

Bravo/YouTube

To say Vicki loves Mexico is an understatement. But one of the most iconic moments came from a Tres Amigas trip to her favorite Cabo bar. Now, Vicki, Tamra Judge, and Shannon Beador are all smart cookies, but for the life of them, they couldn’t figure out how to take a shot. For reference, ladies, it’s lick it, suck it, slam it. Vicki knows how to whoop it up, and even with her fake pucker face, she knows how to have a good time!

Skinny Dip

Vicki Gunvalson/Instagram

Season 10 showed a side of Vicki that people knew and loved – her drunk side. Again, the Tres Amigas were out partying, taking straight shots of straight vodka this time. Their table laughs turned into licking antics in what felt like a softcore porn your grandma may star in? The ladies took the fun back to their hotel, where Vicki proceeded to jump into the pool while still wearing her white dress and wedges. Not one to leave anyone out, Vicki grabs hold of Shannon and yanks her into the pool. Needless to say, there were no more Fireball shots to be had.

Vicki vs Gretchen

@RealHousewivesFrance/YouTube

Vicki was never known to be nice to the new girls, and Gretchen Rossi was no exception. The Coto Insurance founder waltzed into Bunco looking like Pat Benatar on crack. Vicki’s eyes were bulging out of her head as she approached Slade Smiley and Gretch. The feud started when Slade cracked jokes that Vicki resembled Miss. Piggy. Not cool, Slade.

Vicki was trying to pretend she had the moral high ground, but Gretchen quickly reminded her that calling Slade a “deadbeat dad” wasn’t nice either. The ladies took it to another level that only dogs could hear as they battled over who was worse, Slade or Brooks Ayers, as both were absent fathers. Honestly, pick your poison with these two. In a final attempt to win the argument, Vicki unleashed yelling, “You’re not a mother! You have no idea. You are a piece of sh*t.”

Vicki Backs Brooks

@Throwbackqueen/YouTube

The entirety of the Season 10 reunion showed Vicki still battling for her love, Brooks. The entire season, she had everyone questioning Brooks’ cancer story, with multiple holes being poked in it. Shannon had helped set up appointments, Meghan King did a deep dive into Brooks’ background, a psychic didn’t “see it,” and stuff wasn’t adding up. The biggest red flag was that Vicki’s children didn’t like him, but she fought the good fight.

In 2008, Vicki really thought Brooks was dying of cancer and was duped by her boyfriend’s fake paperwork. Even when confronted with all the facts, including fake hospital letter head, Vicki couldn’t admit that she knew Brooks was faking cancer. This reunion is the most pivotal scene as it shows how badly Vicki didn’t want to admit she was wrong. There are over 15 years of classic scenes that star Vick, with some fans, including myself, hoping Bravo brings her back for a visit to create more.

Bravo Fan Favorites Who Became Villains

Lisa Rinna

Bravo stars can usually be sorted into two categories-heroes and villains. There are some cast members viewers root for and some they root against. While many fan favorites have remained in public favor, others have fallen from grace. After all, there’s only so much room at the top.

Here are five fan favorites who became villains.

Monica Garcia (Real Housewives of Salt Lake City)

Monica Garcia joined the cast of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City for Season 4 and quickly became a fan favorite. Fans liked that she was relatable, funny, and unafraid to go head-to-head with the OGs. She seemed like a perfect new addition, and we fully expected to see her next season. But Monica was not how she appeared. In the jaw-dropping finale, Heather Gay revealed that Monica was the mastermind behind the notorious Instagram account Reality Von Tease. Once Monica was exposed for running a troll account, her days on the show were numbered. She fell out of favor with many fans and became the villain of Season 4.

Lisa Rinna (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills)

Lisa Rinna has always been a controversial figure on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills—some fans like her, some fans don’t like her. She’s always caused division within the fanbase, but after Season 12, fans seem more united than ever.

Rinna caused quite a stir after she said that Kathy Hilton had a meltdown behind the scenes during a trip to Aspen. Rinna claimed that Kathy made a number of insulting remarks, including calling their co-stars “idiots” and saying she wants to “f***ing ruin Kyle [Richards].” Kathy denied the claims, suggesting Rinna just needed a storyline.

Many fans criticized Rinna for bringing up something that happened off-screen. The actress even got booed at Bravocon in 2022. The drama resulted in more people seeing the RHOBH star as a villain.

Gizelle Bryant (Real Housewives of Potomac)

Photo by: Charles Sykes/Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images

Real Housewives of Potomac star Gizelle Bryant was an instant fan favorite. Fans loved her sense of humor, her thirst for drama, and her feud with fellow fan favorite Karen Huger. We thought Gizelle’s reign as the people’s princess would last forever, but unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. The 53-year-old lost a lot of support after she made claims about Candiace Dillard Bassett’s husband, Chris Bassett. The RHOP star said Chris made her feel uncomfortable during a private conversation in a hotel room following the Season 6 reunion.

“Many a married man have tried me and I felt like it was a situation in which he was tryin’ to see if I was with it,” she said during a conversation with Robyn Dixon in Season 7“He was complaining about his wife. So he was letting me know he was unhappy. Maybe I was supposed to say, ‘Oh, I can make you happy.’ Like, get out of here.”

Chris denied the claim at the reunion. Candice and her husband have both been open about how the claim has affected them personally. Many fans sided with Chris and Candiace and felt Gizelle was out of line.

Robyn Dixon (Real Housewives of Potomac)

Photo by: Charles Sykes/Bravo via Getty Images

Robyn Dixon is in hot water with fans right now for the way she handled her husband, Juan Dixon’s infidelity scandal. Fans think Robyn is covering for her beau and not sharing the whole truth.

Juan made headlines in January 2023 when an influencer claimed he received a DM from a woman who claimed she dated the basketball coach for a year. The woman submitted a hotel receipt with Juan’s name on it as evidence.

While Robyn admitted Juan talked to the woman over Instagram, she said her husband never met up with her. Unfortunately for them, fans aren’t buying it. The drama has lost her some points with viewers.

Tom Schwartz (Vanderpump Rules)

Photo by: Scott Gries/Bravo via Getty Images

Vanderpump Rules star Tom Schwartz has been losing popularity for a few seasons but Season 10 really sealed his fate. Between covering for Tom Sandoval and insulting Lala Kent’s appearance on beach day, it was not a good season for the bar owner. Not to mention he broke the one rule Katie Maloney asked him to comply with. Come on, Schwartz. You had one job! After Scandoval, fans were ready to revoke Schwartz’s fan favorite status but we think he could still redeem himself in Season 11. The 41-year-old will likely have to do some serious a**kissing to get back in the good graces of fans.

Real Housewives as Taylor Swift Eras

Bravo/YouTube

Two of my favorite things are the Real Housewives and Taylor Swift. The latter is arguably as famous as she has ever been, after the debut of her iconic Eras Tour. The same can be said for the Real Housewives franchise, as they captivate viewers season after season with over a dozen spin-offs and cities.

The Real Housewives are different and unique in many ways, much like Taylor’s ten different eras. Taylor wrote each album in a different state of her life, where she experienced different milestones in terms of her career and love life. The following five Real Housewives are each in their own era, although as we know from Taylor, they never last forever!

Monica Garcia – Reputation

Monica Garcia/Instagram

Taylor wrote Reputation when she was as controversial as ever. She was constantly under scrutiny for writing about her ex-boyfriends, as well as her feuds with several other celebrities. One of the most iconic quotes from the album was “I swear I don’t love the drama, it loves me.” This reminds me a lot of The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City star Monica Garcia, who recently came under quite a bit of scrutiny herself.

Monica made her RHOSLC debut during Season 4, where she was later revealed to be behind the controversial Reality Von Tease Instagram account. Toward the end of Season 4, Monica was exposed by the rest of the women who were understandably infuriated toward her. Monica’s reputation has never been worse, which Taylor certainly knows a thing or two about!

Lisa Hochstein – Red

Lisa Hochstein/Instagram

Red is Taylor’s most straightforward break-up album, which saw a 22-year-old Taylor going through some intense heartbreak. The main inspiration behind a lot of its songs was her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal, which ended rather abruptly. The Real Housewives of Miami star Lisa Hochstein has been in her Red era as of late, after a tumultuous split from her ex-husband Lenny Hochstein.

Although Lisa has since moved on to a relationship with Jody Glidden, Lenny is all the RHOM star has talked about so far during Season 6. Lisa’s fixation with Lenny has gotten to the point where the other women have called her out on it, as they too are tired of hearing about it. Perhaps, Lisa just needs to listen to some Red, and accept that she and Lenny are never getting back together!

Teresa Giudice – Midnights

Teresa Giudice/Instagram

Taylor’s Midnights album represents a lot of different things. Ultimately, Midnights is what brought Taylor back into the spotlight, after a long and quiet hiatus. This is somewhat similar to the story of Teresa Giudice, who went to hell and back during her time on The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

In 2015, Teresa served 11 months in prison for bankruptcy fraud. This was a rough time for the mother of four, but she did not let it stop her from making a fierce comeback. Despite spending almost a year in prison, Teresa was the only RHONJ cast member featured in all 14 seasons. There’s no question that Teresa is still bejeweled!

NeNe Leakes – Fearless

NeNe Leakes/Instagram

Taylor’s second album Fearless is a classic, just like The Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes. Fearless was what propelled Taylor into the music industry, much like NeNe was a critical part of the first few seasons of RHOA.

Apart from being a RHOA classic, NeNe was always fearless in all of her endeavors. NeNe never hesitated to speak up for what she believed in, even when she knew there might be consequences. While NeNe was controversial at times, she was always fearlessly herself.

Jenna Lyons – Lover

Jenna Lyons/Instagram

Taylor’s Lover album represented the calm after the storm of Reputation, where she was endlessly in love. While the majority of Taylor’s albums revolve around themes of heartbreak and other stressful feelings, Lover is an innocently happy album. The Real Housewives of New York City star Jenna Lyons is currently in her Lover era, and we love that for her!

After being single during RHONY Season 14, Jenna hard launched a new relationship with her girlfriend Cass Bird. Jenna is madly in love, much like Taylor was when she wrote Lover. Jenna was also a breath of fresh air on RHONY Season 14, where she had a more peaceful presence as opposed to the rest of the women.
