The Most Iconic Captain Sandy Yawn Quotes from Below Deck

The beloved yacht-based reality show Below Deck is known for having a boatload of unforgettable moments and quotable one-liners. Of course, most of the best quotes in the Below Deck franchise were said by the iconic Captain Lee Rosbach, the gem who brought us the expression and accompanying mental image of being “madder than a pissed-on chicken!” However, whether you love her or hate her, Captain Sandy Yawn delivered some amazing one-liners as well. Captain Sandy’s quotes were nowhere near as entertaining (and graphic) as Captain Lee’s, but Sandy’s lines are more about the reality of being a boat captain.

Also many fans love Captain Sandy for her strict leadership skills, there are also many viewers who don’t like her at all, making her one of the most controversial captains on the series. For example, Captain Sandy was featured on Below Deck Mediterranean, and the show’s viewers decreased once Captain Sandy fired the Chief Stew, Hannah Ferrier, for having anxiety medication onboard without a doctor’s note. When Sandy let Hannah go, Below Deck viewers became divided into those who are pro-Sandy, and those who don’t like her at all.

However, since being a charter captain is a male-dominated industry, female captains have even more pressure to be successful and lead a good ship. Captain Sandy is smart, so she likely knows this, which feeds into her strict leadership skills. We respect you, Sandy! Captain Lee also lays down the law as well, but his most well-known quotes are generally just more colorful than those of other captains. Although Captain Sandy is the second-sassiest boat captain after Captain Lee Rosbach, her most iconic quotes are more no-nonsense. Below Deck fans took to Reddit to note that Captain Sandy is frequently bringing up that she has to do this or that “as a Captain.” Viewers on the Reddit thread critically mentioned that Captain Sandy was quick to justify her sometimes controversial actions by saying she had to do whatever she did “as a captain.” (Firing Hannah is a great example!) Therefore, “as a Captain….” is one of Captain Sandy’s top catchphrases.

However, no matter your opinion of Captain Sandy, being a charter yacht captain does come with lots of responsibilities. We would imagine that “as a Captain,” sometimes one does have to do things for the good of the ship and the crew, even if it makes them less liked.

“Stop Speaking!”

Many fans remember when Captain Sandy demanded that Fraser Olender “stop speaking.” The moment was so tense that viewers like to repeat it in their best Captain Sandy voice in moments when they wish their friends would give them a little piece and quiet. We told you that Sandy’s best quotes are more no-nonsense than the other franchise quotes!

Fraser was furious when Captain Sandy told him to “stop speaking.” The Captain explained that the walls are paper-thin, which sometimes called for quiet upon the ship so they could all better do their jobs. Of course, it also meant that she could hear every word they said when they complained about her. Yikes!

However, to apologize for her harsh words to Fraser, Captain Sandy organized a fun team-building day playing volleyball and also owned up to snapping at Fraser. This shows that she isn’t always as much of a hard ass as she might seem.

“In My Years of Experience…”

One thing about Captain Sandy, she’s going to remind you she knows what the f*ck she’s doing. As you should, queen! Just like she tends to explain her actions by saying she is doing so “as a captain,” Captain Sandy has more than 25 years of experience as a yacht charter captain, and she likes to bring it up.

However, we don’t blame her one bit. Especially since people disapprove of her so much when she is simply trying to run a tight ship, we totally understand why she would want to keep reminding people she’s been in this game for years. Also, real quick, would people judge her harshness as much if she were a male Captain? Hard to say…

The Most Classless Vanderpump Rules Stars

Since 2013, Vanderpump Rules has provided viewers with both classy and trashy individuals. Moving to West Hollywood to make your dreams come true isn’t the easiest, but the group at SUR sure had a knack for making themselves look terrible. Even though the show is a Bravo classic, there were times that were so unforgivable they deserved another moment in the spotlight. These are the most classless Vanderpump Rules stars whose uncouth ways make Lisa Vanderpump shake her head in disgust.

Stassi Schroeder

There was something about Stassi Schroeder that I just hated. Could it have been her bratty behavior? Yes. Could it have been her mean-girl vibe with Scheana Shay? Yes. Or could it be her controlling personality? If your answer is yes to all the above, we may actually agree on something.

Stassi’s spoiled brat tendencies included bossing others around and demanding utter fealty from her friends. At one point, she even ditched her best friend with a huge bar tab. Stassi’s ability to constantly pretend she likes people when she only wants something from them is definitely not out of the Emily Post etiquette book.

Though her multiple birthday meltdowns and goat cheese ball demands might not exactly qualify her as classless, there was a moment that stood above them all. Stassi and Kristen Doute had thought it would be funny to report Faith Stowers to the police for a crime she did not commit. The two former friends called about an article that was in the Daily Mail about a black woman who was wanted for theft, knowing full well that the woman pictured wasn’t Faith. Talk about classless.

Jax Taylor

Honestly, what hasn’t Jax Taylor done? Literally everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, he did on Vanderpump Rules, was a major turn-off. From inhaling his protein powder to shitting with the door open, he proved over and over that he might have been raised with wolves. Scratch that; even wolves have social cues.

One major faux pas moment was when the cast took their trip to Hawaii. Jax had made a decent amount of money but decided to swipe a pair of designer sunglasses. Instead of just paying for them like a normal human, Jax resorted to theft, and was apprehended by the authorities. Brittany Cartwright was left to figure out how to bail him out of jail. 

Another prime example of Jax at his worst would have to be when he offered to pay for a specific set of breast implants for his now-wife. The Hooters girl accepted but realized too late just how much control Jax was going to have over the plastic surgery. Jax’s lewd behavior became too much as he went out of his way to share ideas with Brittany, including photos noting they were “his” breasts since he was splashing out the cash. I’m still surprised she married him, honestly. 

Lala Kent

Even though I am a Lala Kent fan now, she made some questionable decisions that pegged her to be a gold digger in the early days. And there is nothing less classy than a woman who is looking to further herself by attaching herself to a man. Lala’s courtship with Randall Emmett was dubious at best, with no one mentioning the timeline. While I don’t believe she broke up a marriage, the whole thing smelled like three-day-old fish, and a classy lady would never have put herself in that scandalous position. 

James Kennedy

James Kennedy was anything but the number one guy in the group during his early days. And he did himself no favors when he had a very toxic relationship with Kristen. While going through their break up, the DJ noted that he “wished more luck” on whoever was going to end up with the model. To add insult to injury, James shared that he thought he would miss his ex-girlfriend but had “actually been thinking more about Lala in the last few days.” James was clearly no knight in shining armor but rather a loser in aluminum.

James’ insecurities turned him into quite the cocky little butthole as he paraded around his scratch and bite marks, and sadly he didn’t just stop at verbally tormenting Kristen. The SUR waitress took issue with how James was speaking to her and warned him about his language. James crossed a major line as he called Kristen a “nasty slut” while storming out of the apartment.

Making sure to really leave his mark, James turned around and spat on the front door. Ew.

Heather Gay’s Best Moments on RHOSLC

Heather Gay delivered the performance of a lifetime on the Season 4 finale of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. She showed up in that yellow draped dress ready to make history. Her Reality Von Tease speech in Bermuda has to be the most talked about Real Housewives moment of 2024 thus far and got some new viewers interested in the show. In honor of her viral moment, let’s take a look back at some of Heather Gay’s best moments on RHOSLC.

When She Started a Choir

In Season 3 of RHOSLC, Heather decided to get in touch with her spiritual side again and start a choir. The choir storyline offered some much-needed comedic relief in a season that mostly revolved around Jen Shah‘s legal troubles.

We loved Heather’s storyline for a few reasons, mainly the fact that she made all her friends audition in front of her. Plus, it gave us Lisa Barlow singing “Away in a Manger,” which made the rounds on social media for months.

When Heather Got a Black Eye

Heather’s black eye reveal in Season 3 has to be one of the most talked about RHOSLC moments. During a trip to San Diego, Heather took off her sunglasses to reveal a nasty shiner that shocked her castmates. The black eye itself was surprising but what really got fans interested in the story was Heather’s coyness about the whole thing. The blonde beauty refused to reveal how she got the black eye, at times saying she “blacked out” and didn’t remember. Hmm. Sure, Heather.

The storyline has been the source of internet speculation for years. Could it be from a cosmetic surgery gone wrong? Did she fall when drunk? Did Jen Shah sock her friend in the eye?

Viewers were starting to suspect we may never know the truth about Heather’s mysterious injury but then, just as fans were moving on, Heather said fineeee I’ll tell you. In the Season 4 finale, she claimed that her former friend turned inmate, Jen Shah, had been the cause of the black eye. However, she did not go into detail about the incident. Guess we have to wait until part III of the reunion.

When Heather Threw a Mormon-Themed Book Party

In Season 4, Heather threw a Mormon-themed get-together to celebrate the release of her book “Bad Mormon,” which was pretty iconic. The image of the ladies wearing bonnets and making homemade butter while hashing out their drama still has us laughing. Also, Heather suggesting the girls play the shady game “Whose on your wagon?” was pure genius. Thank you for making perfect television girl!

When She Was on the Prowl at Sundance

In the first few seasons of RHOSLC, Heather was the only single girl in the group, which meant she had to find clever ways to meet eligible bachelors. In Season 1, she decided Sundance Film Festival was the perfect place to get her flirt on given that the men were only in town for a short amount of time. Like she said, “I’m always looking for sex but I am not looking for love.” Icon.

It was a joy to watch Heather hit on men at the festival and we were genuinely thankful that cameras were there to capture the whole ordeal.

When She Revealed the Truth About Monica

Heather revealing that fellow housewife, Monica Garcia, was in fact the mastermind behind the infamous Instagram account Reality Von Tease has to be her most iconic moment. She milked that drama to the very last drop and we bow down to her for that. From gathering the OG ladies on the beach (serious Big Little Lies vibes) to calling Monica a troll, we couldn’t look away. Give her an Oscar and a Golden Globe!!!

Heather has given us so many iconic moments over the years and we hope that trend continues. The show would be nothing without miss Beauty Lab and Laser. If she ever leaves RHOSLC, we are changing the channel, sorry!
