American Idol is in the house with King Charles and Queen Camilla. What does this have to do with anything? The royal coronation, of course. But it leaves me wondering what are the judges doing?
The short pop-in visit from the King and Queen was a somewhat scripted bit, but King Charles was the most in-tune with it. So much so that when he asks how much longer they will be occupying the space, I believe him. The moment is a quick ha-ha to make the connection with Katy Perry and Lionel Richie as Coronation Concert performers.
By the looks of it, you’d guess Katy had never met a public figure. Strange since she is one. And she’s even adopted a slight accent. Fancy that. Lionel is simply being Lionel, but we know he’s not surprised when King Charles walks in from behind the camera on cue. I give the King an A, Lionel a B-, and Katy a D. So, who filled in while the two were out? Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morissette stepped in as guest judges, and with Luke Bryan that’s an interesting mix.
Amidst the short royal Idol crossover, we’re getting closer to the crowning of our next American Idol. Contestants performed two songs for Episode 17 – one solo and one duet. As a result, three people were eliminated, and it’s now down to Top 5 for Season 21.
Both Lionel and Katy not only performed at the concert, but attended the traditional festivities at Westminster Abbey and other related events. The whole three-day affair is heavy on pomp and circumstance, but that’s tradition, and the life of royalty. After three days of probably no rest, even King Charles was tired. He took his first day off.
I don’t know who here caught the coronation festivities live (or in person), but CBS narrated that thing like it was the Super Bowl. Seriously, it was a play-by-by of micro movements and with plenty of snark. I’m speechless.
On the contrary, PBS gave us a more joyful outlook with pauses for breathing. This was a preferable way to watch if you prefer peace, or were about to go to bed. It also emphasized the Coronation Orchestra (which was amazing).

Reality TV relationships tend to have a bad reputation. Couples from reality TV will usually make it into the news for one of two reasons. It might be a case of having a child, like Woody Randall and Amani Aliyya. Or, as in the case of Amelia Fatsi and Bennett Kirschner, it’s a split from their partner.
Davina Rankin has unfortunately joined the latter class. Davina was initially seen as one of the biggest villains on Married at First Sight. She appeared in the Australian version of MAFS in 2018 where she cheated on her ‘husband,’ Ryan Gallagher, with right-wing YouTube personality, Dean Wells. At the time, she pinned her poor image on deceptive editing.
After the show, she was married to her now husband, Jaxon Manuel. The two had a daughter together, Mila-Mae. While things may have started like a fairytale for Davina and Jax, all was not quite as sunshine and roses as it would seem.
Fans had speculated that Davina and Jax’s relationship may have been on the rocks, especially when Davina had quietly unfollowed Jax on Instagram. Eventually, the former MAFS star would confirm the rumors in a post on her Instagram.
She wrote, “Relationships are hard. Given the recent speculation, I feel like I need to confirm that Jax and I have separated. I will at some point discuss this further, but my current focus is learning to navigate my new normal while providing a seamless and loving transition into co-parenting for our daughter.”
While Davina is still married to Jax, she joins a long line of MAFS stars who’ve split from their partners, even though Jax himself was never on the show. For example, stars Zack Freeman and Bao Huong Hoang split amid cheating rumors.
As tempting as it might be to judge people like Davina, that might not be the best approach. If star-obsessed culture has taught us anything, it’s that relationships will often fracture when put under a microscope. That isn’t to say fans are at fault for every reality TV split, but it might be wise to evaluate how we examine star-studded couples.

In order to play a notorious attorney, Tom Pelphrey did some detective work himself. On HBO Max's Love & Death, based on the true story of axe murderer Candy Montgomery, the Ozark alum plays her...If you’ve seen the early days of Selling Sunset, you know Maya Vander by now. Level-headed, gorgeous, and family oriented. She is one of the ladies who has her broker’s license and stepped away to Miami to pursue real estate with the Maya Vander Group. She is not much in the way of drama, but we could count on her to be direct if need be. Though she is no longer a castmate, she still pursues bi-coastal real estate and is a real estate coach with Compass.
Maya has two beautiful children, but was surprised when she lost her third baby at 38 weeks in 2021. I imagine this was quite hard, and there are only a certain subset of women and men who can relate. She’s been brave and open about the experience – as part of the healing process, and to ultimately, help others.
What’s more difficult is that after hearing about her loss she needed to deliver her baby boy, Mason. She discussed the painful circumstances at the Season 5 reunion, but was met with additional loss in 2022 as she had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. She’s a mom at heart though, and knew she wanted to get pregnant again!
Guess what! She is pregnant again and expecting very soon. Wishing her the best in these final days! As an additional surprise, Maya announced her and husband, Dave Miller were integral in the birth of a playground for children. They made their contribution to Child Care Center in honor of their late son, Mason, and as you can see below the playground train is named after their son.
On the cusp of Mother’s Day, well wishes to all the moms of all kinds. If you forgot (like I did), Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 14th.
Selling Sunset Season 6 premieres on May 19th with two new cast members. Watch if you are into fine houses, colorful suiting, or interpersonal memos that are lost in translation.

Do we have a Below Deck baby on our hands? We know that the yachties on Below Deck don’t shy away from hookups with their colleagues, but suspicious fans think Chef Ben Robinson fathered Kate Chastain’s newborn. After doing a “hard launch” of the baby’s precious little face on her Instagram, fans immediately started to ask the notorious question: who is the baby’s father? Some fans suspected the father could be the Below Deck franchise’s go-to chef. Of course, we all know that Kate is never one to hold back, so she just took to social media to clear up the rumors about her kid.
When Kate debuted her baby bump on an episode of Watch What Happens Live, she told Andy Cohen that she planned on parenting solo. However, Kate never exactly revealed the identity of the father. When Kate shared the first images of her new son on Instagram, fans wondered about the baby’s father. Based on the baby’s face alone, some fans jumped to the conclusion that Chef Ben was somehow involved in all of this.
One fan commented, “Why does the baby look like a mini chef Ben lol,” while another wrote, “tell me Ben’s the dad without telling me Ben’s the dad.”
This theory about Chef Ben didn’t come entirely out of left field. He and Kate admitted to hooking up between seasons 2 and 3 of Below Deck, which, at this point, feels like a lifetime ago. Still, because of this and the uncanny facial resemblance, fans couldn’t help but try to make a connection between the new baby and the former Below Deck stars.
With the paternity questions swirling, Kate decided to address the rumors. On Twitter, she confirmed that Ben is not the father. We still didn’t learn who the father is, nor is it our right to ever know, but we know it isn’t him. Kate shared another picture of the baby on Twitter and wrote, “For the record, the only thing this handsome guy has in common with any chef is the tendency to get emotional around meal times.”
So, this case is closed, and we didn’t even need to call Maury Povich. Chef Ben is not the father of Kate’s baby. If you thought you saw a resemblance, maybe that just means Ben has a baby face.
