Bravo’s Fourth Annual Real Housewives Awards Winners Are Revealed! Melissa Gorga Discusses RHONJ Premiere

wwhl2

wwhl2

After such a much-needed Real Housewives of New Jersey comeback, I figured that Melissa Gorga would be spilling the tea during her Watch What Happens Live appearance. Unfortunately, that was all superseded by the Real Housewives Awards. I don’t know why this was all squeezed into one episode, but it was.

Don’t get me wrong, Dorinda Medley was there the whole time, so there were some hilarious moments and special appearances, but it just felt like it should have been two separate shows to me.

Andy Cohen asked Melissa about the highly hyped return of Danielle Staub– who deserved a way better entrance, in my opinion. Melissa said, “I met her for the first time on camera at her housewarming party that you saw the flashback of. I was skeptical to meet her because I didn’t know what to expect, but I was really pleasantly surprised. She’s a very vulnerable, interesting, intriguing woman.” Plus Danielle is essentially the one who brought Melissa onto this show thanks to her (iconic) shit stirring during the Season 2 reunion. Melissa should be grateful for Danielle’s existence. If she didn’t ask “Did you acknowledge your nephew?” Melissa may not even be a Housewife.

Andy also teased, “It’s not the last you’re going to hear about that cake.” Oh joy. Let’s just hope that everyone kisses and makes up…. so they can argue about something else instead.

Of course Andy brought up Luann de Lesseps and Tom D’Agostino’s split since Dorinda was there. She said she was “super surpised by the announcement.” She said “absolutely not” when asked about his rumored rebound engagement. When asked if Tom and Missy were still hanging, Dorinda said no comment. Ramona Singer dropped by the clubhouse and clarified that Miss “doesn’t want anything to do with him.”

Andy read a tweet from Kim D which said, “Cockeroaches thrive in dark , damp squalor conditions and bank owned dumps ,Sounds more like you @melissagorga.” Melissa said,  “She’s so clever,” but was Dorinda who came in with the savage response:  “Kim D, tweet that to me, honey.” The tweet was linked to an Instagram post with a less than flattering photo of Melissa mid-performance during her pop star era. And yes, she spelled cockroach incorrectly. First everyone was saying cock-a-roach during the episode and now Kim forgot to use spell check in a fit of rage.

Andy shared that a lot of fans wanted to know if Kathy Wakile and Rosie Pierri made amends with Teresa Giudice since the passing of her mother. Melissa said, “Yeah, they did. They came around for the funeral and they were by her house and everything.” So are they cool now or did they just pop by the funeral? If they’re cool, this show could use Rosie as a full-time cast member.

Another viewer wanted to know if Dorinda ever apologized to Luann for introducing her to Tom, which is an absurd question if it’s actually serious. Dorinda confessed, “Absolutely not. I thought they would meet each other, have a slap and a tickle, and move on.” Didn’t we all though? Thankfully we were blessed with so much more. I’m just sad that he’s not going to be on the show anymore. Hopefully he is still a topic of conversation. I really live for a Tom reference.

Sonja Morgan appeared after winning an award and told Andy “No” when asked if she would date Tom again and she citing “girl code” as a reason- another great song from Luann…. at least in my opinion. Andy tried to figure out what was going on with Sonja and Frenchie. He even mentioned that Frenchie was at the clubhouse earlier. Sonja said, “He’s at the house, but he wanted to go meet friends around the the corner.” Andy said, “OK. That’s confusing.” Yeah, but what’s new about that? This whole situation has always been confusing.

Andy finally got back into the New Jersey Jersey premiere. He asked Melissa about her first impression of new cast member Margaret Josephs. Melissa made it clear that she’s a fan, saying, “I loved her. I think she’s a character. She’s an individual. It’s not easy to come on a Season 8 and she came on.”

Andy asked Dorinda, “Would you be as upset over cake being thrown as Siggy [Flicker] was?” Dorinda said,  “No. I wouldn’t be upset. I think I’d say ‘whats going on?’ and kind of stop it. That was very intense and I love Siggy.” Melissa chimed in with, “It was like girls just want to have fun” and create story lines… and increase ratings.

The funniest question of the night was when someone tweeted asking Melissa where she got her dress from. Come on. Was Melissa going to appear on Watch What Happens Live and wear a dress from any store other than her own? It’s definitely not from Posche, that’s for sure.

And here is your complete list of winners (and my personal commentary):

Class comedian- Sonja. This makes a lot of sense. Sonja is hilarious.

Prom King & Queen- Melissa and Joe Gorga. Joe even wore a powder blue tux to commemorate the occasion.

Most Likely to Never Age – Cynthia Bailey. She wasn’t there to accept the award in person, but she did record a video message where she said,  “Beauty, a little slower in my case, but class is forever.” So true, Cynthia.

Most Likely to Succeed in Reading –Dorinda.  She really does have the best one-liners.

Best Friends- Ramona and Sonja. The two “accidentally” coordinated their outfits and Ramona is looking better than ever. She is seriously pulling a JLo and aging in reverse. Dorinda even called her, “Benjamin Button.” Applicable.

Most Like to Live in A Mansion – Shannon Beador. How was this anyone other than Lisa Vanderpump? No offense to Shannon, but her lemons in a bowl have nothing on Villa Rosa.

Best Style –  Erika Girardi. Erika wasn’t in the club house and she didn’t send in a cute little video either. Maybe she felt like Erika Jayne should have won the award instead.

Landon Clements Left Southern Charm To Focus On Real Estate Career And Escape The Charleston Dating Scene

Landon Clements

Landon Clements

It’s official – Landon Clements is done with Southern Charm. Everyone’s favorite clueless villainess decided to leave the show to focus – finally – on finding another rich husband building a real career. Or so she says…

Since deciding to quit, Landon moved back to California and got her real estate license. Now she’s also ready to meet some eligible bachelors of the west coast. Men you have been warned!

“I’m excited to pursue other things and we have so much fun making the show, but you know, I was just ready to do some other stuff now,” Landon explained. “I love Charleston, but it’s a tiny little town, so it’s hard to keep oneself really busy.” Is it?

Apparently Roam or Travereco, or whatever her paper website was called, is no more! So Landon is now able to do what she loves “real estate and hospitality” –  you know all the things she had in common with Thomas Ravenel. “That’s what I sort of wanted to get back into,” she continued. “I know that if I want to get to the next level of things, I really need to get to work and be with people who believe in me, and training with them all summer has helped me so much.”

“It wasn’t really about filming or not filming, it was just what I wanted out of my life,” added Landon. Does this mean she’s hoping to end up on another reality show, like on HGTV. Let’s hope not!

Of the Charleston dating scene, Landon complains: “I’ve known most of these guys since I was really young, or I’m related to them. It’s a very, very small town and there are great guys there, but I’ve literally known them since we were kids. It’s tricky at best, that’s another big reason I’ve been in California,” she told People. “I’m not really looking to get remarried right now,” she clarified, “I’m focused on my career and want to get the real estate stuff going, and then I’ll try to figure all that out.”

Landon remains in touch with some of her now-former co-stars as well. “Honestly, all of my friends travel so much that they come and visit all the time … so I feel like they’re all still around. We’re a big family.”

She also dishes that despite her failed attempt at dating Thomas, they’re still “good friends.” And Landon loves his new girlfriend, Ashley. Landon even suggested Thomas also leave Charleston for California. “I was telling him it would probably be a good idea to get out of town for a little bit” to focus on his new relationship. “His girlfriend Ashley is a sweetheart, and we’ve become really good friends, and she’s moved to Charleston and is getting her nursing license to switch over,” Landon shares. “Everyone is happy trying to figure it all out.”

RHOC’s Peggy Sulahian Questions Kelly Dodd’s Loyalty to Vicki Gunvalson

peggy-sulahian

Does Peggy have Resting Bitch Face?

Like every other franchise, the ladies of the Real Housewives of Orange County know a little something about cattiness (I’m looking at you Tamra Judge), whininess (ahem, Shannon Beador), and alliance shifting. If you had told me after that Quiet Woman fiasco that Shannon and Kelly Dodd would be thick as thieves a few episodes later, I would have called you crazy! Yet poor OG Vicki Gunvalson remains outside the circle of friendship with Kelly and Lydia McLaughlin crossing over to her side of the playground for a cocktail…or colonics. Also, am I the only one who thought that was way much, even for Andy Cohen?

And then there’s newcomer Peggy Sulahian who has a sharp tongue, a fierce closet (and garage), and not the best grasp of common sayings despite majoring in English in college. Add in the women’s confusion over her breast cancer and her motivation for getting a double mastectomy (as if it is anyone’s flipping business!), and Peggy is ripe for hazing. However, she’s no shrinking violet with this group of yahoos.

In her blog, Peggy jokes about the ball voyage party and Doug’s snip present from this week’s episode. She begins, “Lydia caught on quite quickly that I didn’t know what a push present was. Wow, having kids and getting a present — double whammy! Sounds good to me. Let’s go, Diko! Gifts with interest…now, you’re in trouble. But in reality, Diko has treated me very well and has surprised me without occasion. He appreciates me and displays his love for me by lavishing me with presents. We are very fortunate to be able to afford these luxuries, but the gifts don’t have to be expensive. Even just a little book or funky slippers put a smile on my face because I know he is thinking of me.”

Recalling the dinner where the ladies did their best to push Peggy’s buttons, she appreciated Tamra’s remorse. She writes, “Tamra was very kind to approach me and apologize. It shows me that she is trying to connect and wants to build a friendship. She didn’t come forward in front of the others, but I guess an apology is better late than never. I guess I can see her heart is in the right place.”

Moving on to the question on everyone’s mind, Peggy questions Kelly’s loyalty to Vicki. She asserts, “Is Kelly friends with Vicki or not? I am so confused! Vicki attends to her, and as she is bringing forth proof of her illness, Kelly says, “Who carries their medical records around?” Well, I guess Vicki is feeling threatened enough that she needs to carry around proof. But when Vicki opens up and says she is going to die of a broken heart, my heart was crushed. In view of the life’s fragility, how can people treat each other so unkindly that we are breaking each other’s hearts to death? What? I’ll say it again, I don’t know what Kelly’s motive is, but I’m not sure it is to preserve friendships all around. She even stated that she has nothing against me while we were on the boat, but she was the one attacking me during dinner. She seems to think it’s okay to say anything that comes to mind. Perhaps she needs to get a filter and realize that the words that she uses have a lasting effect.”

Peggy then turns her frustration towards Shannon’s husband. While the exchange between David and Diko was awkward, I don’t think David meant any harm. I think he’s just extremely….awkward. He clearly can’t stand being on the show. Of their conversation, Peggy asks, “And what is it with David interrogating Diko? Did his questions come from a place of concern? It didn’t seem like it. I understand people’s confusion, and Diko clearly gave him an explanation that should satisfy him, but what right does he have to come out and ask if I had cancer or not?”

She continues, “Do we ask about your relationship with your wife? Surely, it is a touchy subject. We can all see that there is difficulty in their marriage, but we wouldn’t ask because it would be rude. Marriage is a sacred institution. It takes a lot of hard work and commitment. Diko and I have been married for twenty-two years, and I can tell you that marriages have difficult times. You have a million things on your plate and finding time to make your marriage work is important. If you are committed to the marriage and the connection with your spouse, you can work through it. I sure hope that Shannon and David make a go of it and work on their relationship. Nobody wants to see a broken family with children.”

She concludes her post with some thoughts on Meghan [Edmonds] and her mood swings: “Meghan finally admits that as a new mom, she is hormonal, very emotional, and doesn’t get much sleep. It is a good to hear that she knows where she is at and that in her state she may experience the world differently than the rest of us. Since I didn’t know her well before, I am going to assume that this emotional state will end.”

I’m going to venture a guess that this is Peggy’s soft side.

Survivor: HHH Episode 2 Recap: Only The Strong Survive

I'm a Wild Banshee

I'm a Wild Banshee

Personalities began to shine through and strategic players and partnerships started to take form during Episode 2 of Survivor: HHH. It was a very welcome change of pace following last week’s over-stuffed and rushed premiere episode. This episode took its time, gave us a lot of insight as to how the players are starting to align and ultimately ended with your standard “is it him or her?” question entering a pretty tame Tribal Council.

Please remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s Episode 2 of Survivor: HHH, so if you have not and don’t want to be spoiled, please come back later! It’s important to add too that while we WILL hit on all of the important developments of the episode, this is not a linear “blow-by-blow” recap, and is more of a discussion and reaction of what we just witnessed together.

CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE, AND THIS IS YOUR LAST *SPOILER* WARNING!

I'm a Wild Banshee

So a fairly decent episode, right?  I mean, nothing crazy took place, there wasn’t anything ground-breaking, there were no “Survivor Firsts.” But I liked how this episode flowed. We didn’t get into the Immunity/Reward Challenge till nearly the 40 minute mark of the hour, which meant that we got to spend a lot of time with the contestants we didn’t get to meet in last week’s premiere. Lauren, Patrick and Simone – of the Hustlers Tribe – all got the spotlight for a bit, and of them, I for one felt compelled to root for Lauren, the socially-awkward fisherman from North Carolina. Watching her sit in silence next to the goofball-clown Patrick was maybe the funniest moment of the night. Patrick was definitely painted as a guy who may be an interesting “character” on the show, but probably isn’t going to go the distance. And as for the inexperienced Simone…well…now we understand why you weren’t shown much at all during the first episode.

I'm a Wild Banshee

Perhaps the most highly-anticipated part of the episode came in the first few minutes, as we got some answers from Chrissy as to why she didn’t play her Super Idol at last week’s Tribal Council. Turns out she had a great reason behind not using it: She plans to keep the now “useless” Idol and use it as a “Decoy Idol” moving forward…meaning that if she gets in trouble, she will just flash this Idol or use it to strengthen an alliance. This could potentially prevent people from targeting her, knowing that she has a power to save herself after the votes (even though she doesn’t, the other players don’t know this!). Plus it obviously looks awesome and like a legit Idol, so it’s fair to assume nobody will probably question its authenticity.  A brilliant move Chrissy! At least until she ends up playing the game with Ryan, who will know that it’s a bogus Idol since he’s the one who gave it to her.

Chrissy looks to be one of the front-runners, and if I had to place a pick for Sole Survivor right now, I’d pick her. She looks to be great at assessing the game and knowing where she stands…and choosing Ben as her “ride-or-die” seems to be a great move. But unlike other, lesser players, that doesn’t mean that she has to burn all of her other bridges. Even though we hear Chrissy have doubts about her other tribe mates, pretty much everybody else on the Heroes tribe believes they are aligned with her.

I'm a Wild Banshee

The other player to watch however, is Ali. Over the course of the first two episodes, she definitely is getting a lot of screen-time, especially for not doing all too much. She looks to be very strategic and to have a great social game…but as we know, Ryan and Devon are super-tight and if she is a third-wheel to this alliance it could cost her. That being said, she seems to have both Lauren and Patrick on her side and is in a great position thus far.

The Healers contributed with some good drama as well this week. Joe – who looks to be the season’s most aggressive player out of the gates – finds a clue to an Idol and then shares this intel with Cole. Together, they manage to find it (although it is technically Joe’s Idol). Joe didn’t necessarily want to bring Cole in on it, but admitted that he probably wouldn’t have figured out the clue without Cole’s help. So Joe has an Idol, but Cole is in a budding showmance with Jessica and as the preview for next week shows, Cole isn’t all that loyal to Joe. Joe may be too focused on getting rid of Dr. Mike – for who knows why? – to see the forest for the trees.

I'm a Wild Banshee

Episode Take-away: Again, it may not have been the best episode of Survivor, but I really enjoyed getting to know these players and seeing the dynamics start to reveal themselves. There seems to be a lot of really likable contestants, and several that are going to be playing the game strategically. Players like Simone are usually not long for this game,..not just because she is scared of bugs and seemed totally out of her element, but because her muted personality just isn’t intense enough to win screen-time away from others like Patrick. Time will tell if Ali made the right call in getting rid of Simone, but I feel like she did…as quiet and reserved as Simone was, she did seem to be game-smart in the sense that she was willing to do whatever it took to stay in the game. Patrick may be obnoxious, but – forgive me for saying so – he just seems a bit dimmer when it comes to the game. A loyal dim-wit? That’s the ideal partner for a social strategist such as Ali.

Strategic Move of the Week: The move really took place last week, but because Chrissy revealed her motives behind it this week, we’ll count it. I think this “Decoy Idol” could be a great tool moving forward, and buys Chrissy far more power than had she just used it to save Katrina.

Voted out this week: Simone

Won Immunity: Heroes and Healers Tribes (also won fishing gear)

Vote: No Idols or advantages played. 5 – Simone (Ali, Patrick, Ryan, Devon, Lauren), 1 – Patrick (Simone)

Next Week’s Episode: The rift between Patrick and Lauren begins to grow, with the word “hate” thrown around…meanwhile Cole spills the beans to Jessica about Joe having found an Idol, and they discuss whether or not they should try taking him out.

RHOD’s Cary Deuber Adamantly Denies Brandi Redmond’s Recollection Of Her Plastic Surgeon Advice

Cary-Deuber-gossips-about-LeeAnne-Locken's-fiance-Rich's-penis-with-Brandi-Redmond-and-Stephanie-Hollman

Cary-Deuber-denies-everything-when-Brandi-Redmond-calls-her-out

Y’all this Dallas trip is beyond bonkers. If these ladies despise one another so much, why are they vacationing together? I have to say D’Andra Simmons is a breath of fresh air on this season of Real Housewives of Dallas, and more power to someone who can tame LeeAnne Locken’s special brand of cray. Stephanie Hollman and Brandi Redmond are definitely better together (that bubble bath!), and Kameron Westcott’s voice is about to throw me over the edge. Without a doubt, the Dallas franchise has grown on me, and I think I could watch it year-round. That said, there seems to be some selective memory (or completely altered memory) when it comes to these girls and their plastic surgeons (“he’s an OBGYN”).

Addressing the drama that went down at dinner in Mexico on this week’s episode, Cary Deuber insists she never, ever, ever implied that Brandi’s mommy makeover doctor had someone die on his operating table. Brandi seems insistent that it was said, and it was sad to see the close friends go head to head. Can we just get the girls some more tequila please?

In her weekly blog, Cary dives into her love of yoga and disdain for LeeAnne, blaming LeeAnne’s vendetta against her for twisting Brandi’s memory. She begins, “Welcome back, friends! You’ve seen me do a lot of yoga. From the beach to the street, I find fun places to practice my moves that keep my core tight and my spirit-centered. Usually, it’s pretty high energy athletic stuff, but there’s so much more to it. Yoga is like my church. It is my personal time to be a calmer, better person. I get a chance to meditate and bring positive energy to my life and in turn to the lives of others. There’s such an awesome juxtaposition this week. I’m meditating and calming myself in solitary yoga practice on the beach while Two-Face is back at it again with her favorite past time: bad-mouthing me, threatening to strangle me (no visible anesthesia in sight this time), and then saying she wants help. Pattern much?”

Acknowledging her nastiness about Rich, Cary seems somewhat apologetic for what she said and owns her pettiness. She states, “So I did two bad things this week…I made a comment about a little wiener, and I gave a friend medical advice. Let’s start with the small stuff first, the tiny pee-pee comment. It’s really never a good or positive thing to spread gossip, and that’s exactly what I did on the beach when I was feeling petty. Point blank, I shouldn’t have said anything about Rich. As my husband’s anatomy was so popular with everyone last week, thanks to Two-Face, I broke and mentioned her nice guy negatively, ignoring my own advice, and I feel terrible. Even the limited exposure that I have to Two-Face must be too much because I got down in the dirt with her and made a rude comment about her fiancé. To quote Zuri, ‘It’s disgustin’!’ I really want to be better than that.

She admits, “I dug in the dirt and went low, and for that, I’m sorry. I feel terrible that I spread gossip after all that I’ve been through, and I am still ashamed of my behavior. I know I did it to hit her where it really hurts…the girl group gossip. No excuses. No meds, anesthesia, alcohol, or worms should be blamed for a classic case of petty.”

Discussing what should have been a lovely dinner in a cool cave, Cary wonders how LeeAnne was able to quickly turn the conversation away from her messiness. Cary writes, “But onto the serious thing, I’m really losing sleep over: the doctor situation. I’m shocked…out of nowhere, I was hit with this doctor thing from Brandi at the exact moment when I was trying to talk to Two-Face about threatening my life. I was so confused and blindsided. Someone threatened to strangle me, and it immediately got turned back on to me? It’s now my fault? Classic Two-Face deflection. Get Brandi Redmond to fight with me so that you don’t have to deal with your bad behavior.”

Defending her denial of the statement, Cary asserts, “I have been a nurse for almost 20 years, so I’m fully aware of the serious truths about medicine. Complications can happen after surgical procedures, including after cosmetic procedures. Nobody wants this to happen, but it can. Maybe a procedure was too long or complex, maybe a horrible event just happened through no fault. No matter what, this is a serious reality for anyone contemplating surgery. I always tell people to research their doctors thoroughly as well as potential complications, so I can only imagine that this is why she came to me.”

Continuing, Cary recalls, “Brandi called me about two years ago to ask for medical advice. I didn’t seek her out; she came to me. Why does a non-medical person call a medical friend for medical advice? Answer: they want honest truthful advice from a trusted friend, especially if that friend is in the medical field. Besides being a registered nurse, I am first and foremost a patient advocate. So from a conversation we had almost two years ago, her takeaway was something so sinister and negative. I’m so sorry; that was not my intention. I NEVER said what she insists she heard. I don’t recall everything we talked about two years ago, but I know that I never said that — period. I would have hoped that if she truly felt that way, she would have called me back or mentioned it in the last two years. We are friends after all, so I felt very betrayed. If something I said bothered my friend, I’d definitely want them to reach out to me. I haven’t had this kind of issue with a friend like Brandi before, and she knows me well enough to speak up. But what a convenient fit for Two-Face’s plan! I think this plot came from her.”

Clearly Cary isn’t upset with Brandi for what she perceives is an incorrect perception of the conversation. She concedes, “Time has a way of twisting memories and facts into something from a completely different reality, and so does Two-Face. I have been losing sleep over this; I’ve watched the cave dinner scene over and over, and I can’t stop seeing how it looks like Two-Face is channeling this story. I can almost see her lips moving and leading as Brandi is trying to remember what happened. It looks to me like she is putting words in Brandi’s mouth and even correcting her when Brandi doesn’t get the story exactly right. So, how is this supposed to go? I tried to voice my concern face-to-face about one of the several threats and then got turned-on instead? Just like a perfectly planned manipulation with the smuggest smile from Two-Face at the end!”

Concluding, Cary jokes, “You know what I’m learning from this group? You don’t want my help. You’re looking to trap me with twisted lies. The Cary Advice Line is officially closed for business. I’m going to need a lot of yoga mat time this week! NAMASTE”

I’d call out Cary for name calling LeeAnne in her blog if LeeAnne hadn’t dressed as Two-Face Stephanie for Halloween!
