It’s been 546 long days since we last had a new episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. When we last saw them, Drew was singing to her estranged husband about their messy breakup. Her cousin was running around wreaking havoc. The show we loved and cherished had slowly faded away into a mess of nothingness.

Since then, the bigwigs at Bravo put on their thinking caps and spent as much time as they needed to get RHOA just right. We all wanted to trust and believe that Bravo could restore the once glorious franchise, but then a nasty little revenge porn scandal threatened to send Season 16 into a tailspin.

Despite the controversies, the premiere has arrived. Bravo made us wait all of this time, but was it worth the wait? We certainly think so. Keep reading for our full rundown on Real Housewives Atlanta Season 16, Episode 1, “Welcome Back Peaches.”

What happened in The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16, Episode 1?

In the RHOA Season 16 premiere, we hopped on Shamea’s elevator and got introduced to her fabulous circle of friends. Meanwhile, her bestie Porsha found herself caught in a sticky situation thanks to a legal threat from her estranged husband. The stress was so serious that she had to go to a strip club to decompress! By the end of the episode, we got a glimpse into Season 16’s first feud.

Shamea is the peach that connects them all

If you thought the RHOA Season 16 reboot was going to be all about Porsha, you couldn’t be more wrong. Of course, she’s a big part of this, but the premiere wasted no time establishing that it’s Shamea who is the nucleus of this group.

In the first five minutes of the episode, Shamea introduced us to her $9 million home, which is outfitted with more elevators than your local mall. If you wanted wealth out of this reboot, Shamea’s got it covered. She even gave the house a name, Sterling Hall, so we can add this to the map of Bravo landmarks.

As a longtime RHOA watcher, it feels a little shocking knowing that Shamea was just running around as Porsha’s sidekick this whole time. However, she made it clear in this premiere that she earned this promotion from second fiddle to main character.

While showcasing hr multimillion-dollar house, which was allegedly paid for through her husband’s HVAC work, she explained her connections to the original cast and the new friends she wants to introduce at her upcoming birthday party. It has Housewives written all over it, and that’s where Atlanta’s new chapter begins.

Drew has a new normal

Drew spent her year away from the cameras adjusting to life without Ralph. She’s also been getting oddly close to Porsha’s ex, Dennis McKinley, the Hot Dog King. She claims it’s because he’s helping her with her music.

Kenya showed up at Drew’s house ready to talk about all of it, because yes, Kenya is a part of this show. You’d never know it based on the cast pictures, but she was present in the Season 16 premiere.

At Drew’s house, the two started talking about Dennis, and Kenya had a hard time wrapping her head around the idea of him helping Drew with a music career. If he’s in the studio with Drew, who’s going to cook the hot dogs?

“Apparently he’s been doing music for a very, very long time,” Drew told Kenya with a smile.

Of course, Kenya hit back with some very important follow-up questions. First of all, how does Porsha feel about this? Second of all, if he’s so big into music, why didn’t he produce a track for his baby’s mother? She’s a singer sometimes, too!

Kelli the Waffle Queen makes her debut

The first real newbie we met in the premiere was Kelli, and she’s one of those cast members who seems like they were printed at the Housewives factory. Seriously, she checks all of the boxes of your average Real Housewife star. She’s got money, she’s got twins, and she’s got a big mouth ready to spread some gossip.

Kelli nicknamed herself the Waffle Queen because she owns a chicken and waffle restaurant that exploded into a huge business. If you need gold-infused syrup for your waffles, she’s your girl.

In the premiere, Kelli established herself as the messy one of this new group. At a lunch with Shamea and Brit, she started stirring the pot. Someone has to do it.

The ladies were talking about Shamea’s upcoming birthday party, when Porsha’s name came up. Kelli immediately started talking about Simon and how Porsha shouldn’t have been messing around with him in the first place.

Is Kelli wrong? Absolutely not, but she’s putting Shamea in a rough spot. Her friendship with Porsha is going to be tested as she starts to mix friend groups together.

Porsha is gearing up for a legal battle

In Kelli’s defense, we were all watching this episode and thinking about Porsha’s divorce. It’s the elephant in the room, and since Bravo cameras weren’t allowed in her home, she brought them into her lawyer’s office. There, she and her lawyers plotted an emergency request to have a judge allow filming in the marital home. It’s just a glimpse into the nastiness still to come with Simon, who in real-time has been detained by ICE.

The situation with Simon is so draining that Shamea decided to take Porsha to a strip club to take her mind off of things. The two took shots, ate chicken wings, and watched booties bounce. You have to get creative when you can’t film at home!

Overall, Porsha has a lot on her plate this season, and when Shamea gave her a heads up about what Kelli had been saying about her, it was like it flipped a switch in Porsha. She’s back in the game of Housewives, and she’s ready to play.

Things get spicy at Shamea’s birthday party

The last part of the premiere episode brought us back to Sterling Hall for Shamea’s birthday bash, which served as the first all-cast event of Season 16. That included Cynthia, who is part-time but had more confessionals than some of the newbies, and Angela, a full-time newbie married to a former NBA player.

As Shamea ushered in the new generation of RHOA, you could see little sprinklings of drama start to pop up throughout the party. Kenya gave an icy introduction to Brit. Kelli and Porsha haven’t met but have been talking about each other through Shamea. Then, there’s also the Dennis and Drew situation that has everyone talking. It’s a lot, and Shamea’s elaborate party could only distract from the drama for so long.

At the end of the episode, the ladies took an elevator ride to another wing of Sterling Hall to have an all-hands chat about the rumors floating around. The premiere episode ended with a “to be continued,” but it looks like this is about to get juicy.

Now, fans already know that Brit Eady is going to be all mixed up in the drama, thanks to her tussle with Kenya Moore. But there is more to Brit than just some online photos. Let’s get to know her husband, Michael Cunningham, who I swore might just be a Disney Prince.

According to her Bravo bio, Brit is a successful businesswoman. The Georgia native is a devoted wife. In her earlier days, Brit was a model who mainly worked in music videos, commercials, and a few movies. Now, Brit works in insurance and even runs her own agency. Brit is a numbers girl who is all about making money. She once posted, “Everyone always asked why I got into insurance? This should answer all the questions everyone has been wondering. This has been the hardest thing I have ever done in life, and it has been so rewarding! I’m incredibly grateful for all the support.”

Along with being a boss b*tch who owns multiple franchises, Brit is happily married to Michael. She is all about her hubby posting sweet shouts often. On his birthday, she wrote, “It has been the best ride of my life. Celebrating you is everyday … You are my world, my best friend, and my biggest headache. I would do it all over again. The way you love me, I pray everyone gets to experience this type of unconditional love.” I think it is safe to say this couple is in love. So what does Michael bring to the table?

Brit quickly noted she had “her own money when she met Mike,” But their fairytale romance is still a sweet meet-cute. While on a podcast, Brit shared that she feels secure in the couple’s “healthy relationship.” Mike, who was married once before, agreed with his wife’s sentiment. The insurance guru didn’t hesitate to imply that they had the perfect relationship. The duo met through her firm while she was doing his insurance. The two hit it off as they “went to Vegas in September and were engaged by Christmas.” Brit joked, “So he went from absolutely not married to being engaged in a couple of months.”  

After their first date, the couple traveled everywhere, including New York and Miami, noting they were “together every day.” According to Mike, his wife “was different. And kind of like a breath of fresh air. She’s my best friend.”

Mike is flying below the radar. To be honest, it was really hard to figure out what this man did for a living, let alone how he made his money. His Instagram bio states he is an “Investor. Developer. Entrepreneur. Jet Broker.” But I think there is more to Mike than meets the eye. For example, he seems to also be dabbling in the oil business. But really, this man is a ghost. Right now, it feels like his main title is “Brit Eady’s husband.” Hopefully, the Real Housewives of Atlanta will clear the confusion up regarding his line of work.  

Mike is a country club member, and according to his Threads account, he enjoys a few rounds of golf or two. But right now, it seems like his full-time job is being Brit’s hype man. There are numerous photos of her on his account. Some show her posing in expensive outfits, while others show the duo posing together. Mike comes across as laid back and is above all the BS that comes with being on the Real Housewives of Atlanta. The couple balances one another out, and both are opinionated.

Everything seems okay in their relationship for now. But the couple struggled during filming. The newbie’s Bravo bio notes that she is “basking in the glow of her 10-carat diamond ring and marriage to Michael. However, with the loss of a family member and career transition, her marriage with Mike seems to have driven a wedge between her and her once inseparable sisters, who feel that their quality time is now non-existent.” However, the couple seems to be back on track and has attended multiple events together. They were last seen together with the rest of the cast at The Black Tie Gala Fundraising Event hosted by the Charles Oakley Foundation. The nonprofit works with communities to end hunger and poverty.

The newest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta will surely pull back the curtains when it comes to Brit and Mike’s cozy relationship. They don’t seem worried about the Real Housewives curse and in fact, are laughing in the face of naysayers. Personally, I think I found my new favorite Bravo couple.

Who Is RHOA Newbie Kelli Ferrell’s Ex-Husband Chuvalo Mark Ferrell?

Season 16 of Real Housewives of Atlanta introduces us to a new Bravo star via Kelli Ferrell. Kelli will aid in many storylines this season. However, one of these narratives will be up close and personal, as Kelli went through a tough-as-nails divorce from her ex, Chuvalo Mark Ferrell.

Kelli is a cookbook author, celebrity chef, TV personality, and restauranteur. Therefore, she is used to all kinds of press. Even still, personal headlines hit differently, as Kelli has experienced, being that her divorce was messy.

So, who is her ex, and why did Kelli and Chuvalo divorce? Will we hear more about this chaos during RHOA Season 16? Let us dive into all things Chuvalo now to address these questions.

The marital rise and fall of Kelli Ferrell and Chuvalo Mark Ferrell

Kelli and Chuvalo were married for 11 years before calling the time of death on their marriage in 2022. They have three daughters: Chance, Chasiti, and Chelsi. Kelli also has a fourth daughter named Chloe from a previous relationship. Chloe is the oldest of the bunch.

Their divorce lasted 2 years, 8 months, and 22 days. But last September, Kelli shared on Instagram that their battle was over. Speaking in third person, Kelli penned a letter online, congratulating herself on how far she has come.

“Some of your friends gossiped, and some came through when you needed them the most,” Kelli began, making me wonder if any of the ladies on RHOA had her back during her battle. And if not, why?

“Your test was your testimony. GOD had to [en]sure you could handle everything you have prayed for before He sent you the biggest blessing you’ve been asking for. Those last months of hell were your preparation for the most beautiful life that you so DESERVE,” Kelli stressed.

Kelli ended her post on a high, reminding her followers that hard-fought battles often arrive before our biggest blessings in life. Then, in all caps, Kelli penned, “YOU ARE OFFICIALLY DIVORCED.”

Chuvalo Mark Ferrell shared a contemptuous divorce battle with Kelli Ferrell

When Kelli presents at the start of RHOA Season 16, her divorce from Chuvalo will still be underway.

Kelli listed their date of marriage as August 20, 2011. Their separation occurred in January 2022, and yes, “no hope for reconciliation” was listed.

Chuvalo responded to their divorce in June 2022. He also admitted that he and Kelli were unable to resolve their issues. However, he did contest that their separation happened in 2021, not 2022.

Their marital assets were worth $1.7 million, including their restaurant, home furnishings, cars, and various luxury items collected during their union. As for their children, Kelli asked for sole custody, child support, and attorney fees. She also filed a restraining order to prohibit Chuvalo from selling or transferring any of their communal property while their divorce proceedings were underway.

But Chuvalo demanded joint physical and legal custody of their children. He also argued that he and Kelli are “self-supporting,” so neither should get spousal support.

In 2023, the exes reached a temporary custody agreement, with Kelli maintaining physical custody while sharing joint legal custody of their daughters. Chuvalo also had to pay Kelli a monthly child support check, and this is where their legal battles stemmed.

Divorces happen. Yet, some are far easier than others. Take Chuvalo and Kelli, for example, whose divorce proceedings included a prison cell.

Throughout their drawn-out divorce, both parties accused each other of alleged misdeeds regarding their joint finances and ventures. However, in June 2022, a judge ruled in favor of Kelli. Kelli won ownership of their restaurant, Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles. Meanwhile, Chuvalo lost this battle, as the court ordered he pay Kelly back $420,000, which he allegedly withdrew from their account.

Chuvalo contested this decision. He claimed the money he withdrew was supposed to be used to construct another restaurant location. Then, Kelli had to file a motion for contempt against her ex, as he allegedly failed to follow these orders. The courts agreed with Kelli, finding Chuvalo in contempt.

Chuvalo was taken into custody in January 2024 and released shortly after in February. Despite his stay away, Chuvalo still failed to pay child support for February, March, April, May, and June. According to InTouch, on August 7, the judge ordered Chuvalo jailed until he paid $14,889. He exited on August 14 after posting a $15,000 bond.

For his part, Chuvalo remained (mostly) quiet. But, he did speak through his attorney, stating that his focus remains on his family. Likewise, Chuvalo noted that he dislikes Kelli involving their children in “public appearances and on television” without his consent.

What else do we know about Chuvalo Mark Ferrell?

Now that Kelli and Chuvalo are divorced, Kelli is ready to move forward. But before we tune in to RHOA Season 16, is there anything else we can discuss about her ex, Chuvalo? This answer is yes.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Chuvalo is an “Entrepreneurial Visionary: Riding Culinary Excellence and Musical Mastery,” as stated in his bio. With only 20 connections and 21 followers, this landing page feels borderline unloved. However, Chuvalo does have one job listing here. He owns Blak on Blak Enterprise, an independent record label that hones in on indie artists across the globe.

On Instagram, Blak on Blak Enterprise heavily promotes a young Florida artist named Smakka Bihh. Her latest bop, I’m Different, sits just above.

On his personal Instagram, however, Chuvalo calls himself a “Creator, Restaurateur, Proud Father, [and a Virgo], [who is] Building dreams, one dish at a time.” His bio rings true, as Chuvalo recently opened Uncle Butch’s Chicken -N- Waffles, a brunch spot in Conyers, Georgia.

When Real Housewives of Atlanta returns via Season 16, we will meet Angela Oakley, the wife of Charles Oakley. Charles has a name that most households recognize. This man lasted 19 seasons in the National Basketball Association, AKA the NBA. So, fingers crossed that any sports lovers residing in our households might start joining us on our couches as we take in all things RHOA this season.

But, as we prepare to meet this family on Bravo, let us first discuss who this baller is. What is his backstory, and what does he do now when not offering Angela his assists on RHOA? Likewise, when did he and Angela wed, and how many people reside underneath their palatial roof in Atlanta? We will tell you everything we know about Charles now, just in time for the premiere of RHOA Season 16.

Basketball has always been present in the life of Charles Oakley, the newest husband on RHOA

Charles was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from John Hay High School in 1981 after landing a spot on their basketball team, as expected. Charles still pops into his alma matter at times, offering the basketball teams an ear and a word of advice as needed.

After high school, Charles became a Panther at Virginia Union University, a Division II, historically black university in Richmond, Virginia. According to their website, when Charles was a senior, he led the basketball team to the 1985 NCAA championship. The Panthers had a 31–1 overall record this year, with Charles averaging 24 points and 17.3 rebounds per game. Therefore, Charles was named the NCAA Division II Player of the Year.

However, the main highlights of his career came after Charles’ graduation. In 1985, the NBA entered the chat, launching Charles into the next chapter of his life.

Before semi-starring on RHOA Season 16, Charles Oakley starred in 19 seasons of the NBA

Charles is about to start his newest gig as a (hopefully) supportive man on RHOA Season 16. As a legendary NBA star, here is a brief explainer of his resume, which will likely be touched on at least once on RHOA.

Charles joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1985, but then he was traded to the Chicago Bulls, where he played until 1988. Michael Jordan led this squad, and yes, Michael has also seen his name sounding on Bravo, thanks to his son.

Charles next landed with the New York Knicks in 1988. He stayed with this team until 1998. After this, Charles took a spot with the Toronto Raptors until 2021. Once this ended, Charles returned to play with the Bulls until 2022.

In 2022, Charles met back up with Michael after signing as a free agent for the Washington Wizards. Finally, Charles ended his NBA career after playing one final season as a Houston Rocket in 2004.

In honor of his 19-year professional basketball career, the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and Museum inducted Charles in 2016. As experienced with high-pressure situations as he is, can Charles handle the other husbands off the courts on RHOA Season 16? Only time will tell. But as he stressed in a career-explaining interview on the Showtime With Michael Cooper Lakers Podcast, possession is key, so possess your upper hand(s) quickly on RHOA, Charles.

We already covered his career. So now, let us look at his family, whom we will meet during Season 16 of RHOA. In 2016, Charles married Angela, a first-time peach holder on Bravo. Their blended family includes four children.

But all marriages are tricky, even the best ones. Charles and Angela are no different. According to Bravo, they will attend a handful of therapy sessions, which exposes “underlying issues” in their relationship. However, therapy plays a vital role in healthy relationships, so it’s nice knowing that Charles is open to outside opinions and advice.

It seems like their sessions worked, as Charles and Angela will deliver us “a show-stopping vow renewal” during Season 16 of RHOA. Yes, we have seen this film before, and no, fans did not like the ending(s). Nevertheless, hopefully Charles and Angela fare better after their renewals than their other not-so-luckily-in-rebirthed-love predecessors on Bravo.

In 2017, Charles Oakley got arrested at Madison Square Garden, and he is still fighting this event civilly via a Manhattan-based lawsuit

The Real Housewives franchise understands controversy via lawsuits. Charles also comprehends negative headlines, as in 2017, he got arrested at Madison Square Garden. As ABC and other outlets reported, Charles got ejected after he allegedly yelled at James L. Dolan, the Executive Chairman of Madison Square Garden and MSG Networks. Other accounts claimed that Charles hit one security guard in his face while shoving another before being dragged away from the game and handcuffed.

Charles earned himself three counts of misdemeanor assault and criminal trespassing. He fought these charges, stating that he only became combative after learning that James was ousting him from the arena. In 2017, Charles initiated a civil lawsuit against James, and this messy matter remains in litigation in 2025.

With his award-winning NBA career, therapy sessions, lawsuit, and upcoming vow renewal ceremony on Season 16 of RHOA, it stands to reason that Charles and Angela will have a lot to discuss this season on Bravo.

What else has Charles Oakley done before filming on Season 16 of RHOA?

When Angela struts herself onto RHOA Season 16, her man Charles will be at her side. But Charles is so much more than his career and legal follies. He is also a humanitarian. Charles has supported many charities, and when our unhoused communities need help, Charles often provides them with a lay-up, helping to feed communities all over, including Cleveland and Atlanta.

In 2020, Charles started the Charles Oakley Foundation. One year later, his foundation initiated a campaign called Oak Out Hunger. The goal was to provide 10,000 meals across the United States. In 2022, Charles put his hands where his money and mouth were, cooking and serving many of these meals in person.

Charles has also lent his time, resources, and support to over a hundred charities. From the courts of life to the world of reality television, viewers are eager to learn more about the Oakley family and their characters as RHOA Season 16 progresses on Bravo.

The Single Life is still one of the newer 90 Day Fiancé spin-offs which has struggled to find footing in the franchise. While the concept behind the show is good, the cast members chosen for each season haven’t always been the most captivating. The first few seasons of The Single Life have mostly followed the dating journeys of cast members who weren’t popular during the time they aired. This resulted in less of an interest from viewers.

Jasmine, on the other hand, has been a prominent figure in the franchise for some time now. While she certainly has her critiques, many 90 Day Fiancé fans enjoy watching Jasmine. She is chaotic, but without a doubt entertaining to watch. Fans have been watching Jasmine’s relationship with Gino since the beginning, so it would be interesting to watch her tackle a new relationship. It’s also possible that Matt was shown during The Last Resort to introduce an upcoming appearance on The Single Life. 

Jasmine has filmed many back-to-back seasons

As of recently, Jasmine is one of the only cast members to appear in numerous seasons back to back. During the summer of 2023, Jasmine and Gino were featured on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 6. After that season finished airing, they went on to appear on 90 Day Fiancé Season 10. Shortly after that wrapped up, the couple was announced to be featured yet again on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Season 8. Four months after Season 8 concluded, Jasmine and Gino were back on our screens once more for The Last Resort Season 2.

There’s a reason why producers keep bringing Jasmine and Gino back. Since they’ve appeared on four seasons within the last year and a half, it wouldn’t be a surprise for Jasmine to make it five with The Single Life. Jasmine’s surprise pregnancy with Matt would make for an amazing storyline on The Single Life, which production likely wouldn’t want to pass up. The Single Life also benefits from highlighting stories of current cast members, which Jasmine certainly is at the moment.

Gino is also rumored to be appearing on The Single Life Season 5

To make things even more interesting, Gino has also been rumored to be filming for The Single Life. Gino was spotted with several mystery women after filming The Last Resort. This seems to be shortly after the time he and Jasmine split. Therefore it would make sense for him to be filming The Single Life. Gino was also seen spending a lot of time in Las Vegas, despite living in Michigan. This could be another sign of him dating someone new.

It would be interesting to see Jasmine and Gino both explore new relationships in the same season of The Single Life. Nothing like this has happened on the spin-off before, which would make it even juicier. Since Jasmine and Gino are two of the biggest names in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise at the moment, this could make The Single Life Season 5 a huge hit. And of course, the Tell All would be as juicy as ever! 

Regardless of whether Gino is featured on the upcoming season, it seems more than likely that Jasmine will be. We can’t wait for this cast list to officially drop!
