Southern Charm Savannah, oh how you’ve tried. We’ve almost wrapped the first season with this spin-off, and it wasn’t as well received as I would have anticipated. Don’t get me wrong, I like the crew as a whole, but there’s just not that much to watch. If Ashley Borders wasn’t creating stories in her head, playing the victim, and managing to strip at any given time, we’d just be watching a group of wealthy thirty-somethings with a penchant for partying. Been there, seen that.
Last night’s episode begins with a trip to St. Simons Island. Jealous! Much to Hannah Pearson’s dismay, Louis Oswald is planning the ultimate tailgate at Hannah’s father’s house in St. Simons for the Florida/Georgia game. Being the most clueless boyfriend on the planet, he’s included Ashley on the guest list. Ashley is driving Nelson to the South’s biggest cocktail party while complaining that Hannah has a dress company and didn’t think to consult her about it. The nerve! Hannah feels awkward arriving at her family’s beach house. Since her dad married a woman close to her age, it doesn’t have the same memories as it does now. However, Louis has promised to be the host with the most alongside his potential future father-in-law. So he forgot the oysters–big deal. Louis wonders why this party has to be some reception-grade event on Hannah’s radar. What’s wrong with Natty Lite and some Fritos? When game time rolls around, there are still streamers to be hung and tables to be assembled. Both tasks fall on Hannah and her dad. As Hannah nags Louis about his duties, he is confused as to what is wrong. Napkins taken out of plastic wrap? He’s got it. Ice in coolers? Check. What’s so hard? As Hannah micro-manages Louis, her step-sister-mother and father joke about his demise.
Happy McCullough and fiance Azam arrive first, followed by Catherine Cooper and Lyle McKenzie. The group takes a slew of Fireball shots before Happy pulls Hannah and Catherine aside to find out whether Ashley will be in attendance. Catherine reveals that on the way to St. Simons, her car saw a social media post where Ashley broke a neighbor’s window with her forceful knocking after she assumed said neighbor was talking smack about her. Happy wants to confront Ashley about her recent antics which she believes are bordering on psychotic. Catherine feels bad to be talking shiz given the girls’ fair weather truce, but the drama needs to end!
Ashley and an awkward Nelson Lewis get to the house, and he gives Daniel Eichholz an equally awkward hug. Know your audience, Nelson…and their boundaries. Catherine approaches Ashley to inquire about the bandages on her hands, but Ashley brushes off the question. Isn’t about time for everyone to get naked? Before the stripping can commence, Happy pulls Ashley aside to discuss all the drama surrounding her friend. What’s this she’s heard about Ashley punching out someone’s window?
Once again, Ashley is on the defensive. She feels attacked and bullied. When Happy brings up Ashley’s treatment of Hannah, Ashley counters that Hannah has bullied her, and it hurts her to know that Hannah has an ally in Happy while she has no one. Delusional, party of one! Happy has Azam, Catherine has Lyle. Ashley has no one. Dennis is nice and all, but he doesn’t have her back like her friends’ beaus. Happy isn’t keen on this train of self-pity. Ashley chose to marry Dennis, and she can choose to get out of her current situation. Turning on the waterworks, Ashley’s talking head spouts off all her struggles and excuses, and Catherine moves next to Ashley to comfort her. Happy concedes that she can feel for Ashley’s situation, and the trio hugs it out…Ashley is happy to hug the girls, but she snarks (in her talking head) that she knows better than to piss off these girls by hugging their men. And there it is.
Everyone decides to take a dip in their clothes…well, except for Ashley. She’s taking a dip in her golfing lingerie. The male part of the party dries off and heads to a local bar with Hannah’s father leading the way. A high school wasted Ashley can barely form two words while Catherine feeds her Tostitos like a mama bird. Hannah tries to impart the importance of opening up to one another and being supportive as Ashley’s eyes glaze over as she tries to form girl power syllables. Her vomit speaks for itself, but Hannah and Catherine take it in stride, cleaning her up and brushing her hair. That’s what good friends do.
At the bar, poor Louis is cornered by Hannah’s drunk dad who explains that he never loved Hannah’s mother. It is incredibly cringe-worthy, and Louis has no clue what he’s supposed to do with this information. To make matters worse, Hannah’s dad keeps repeating it over and over (and over) to really drive home the point. Did he mention he never loved Hannah’s mom? His intent is simple…f Louis has any doubts like Hannah’s dad did when it came to picking a spouse, her dad will respect Louis infinitely more if he doesn’t lead on Hannah (like he apparently did to her mom!).
The next morning, Catherine is in a Hannah/Louis sandwich in bed as Lyle sprawls in the guest room. Daniel climbs into the coziness after leaving the puke couch he shared with Ashley. Ashley hightailed it out of the beach house before sunrise, and she’s grappling with her vulnerability on the ride home with Nelson. She screens Hannah’s courtesy call making sure she’s okay while regaling the importance of girl code. She is definitely a piece of work!
Hannah wants to know what Louis and her dad talked about — Louis is uncomfortable. Louis recognizes Hannah is trying to rebuild her relationship with her father. He’s going to keep her father’s secrets to himself and wait to hash out this messiness at the reunion…if this crew gets one, that is!
A tearful Hannah questions her dad about his conversation with Louis. He sidesteps her inquiry, simply stating that he hopes Louis is on his way to being the guy she needs him to be. Hannah opens up about how her parents’ divorce has affected her in ways she didn’t even realize. She strives for perfection when she should be looking for partnership. She tells her father that she wants the sense of teamwork he had with her mother. No, no you don’t, Hannah. She also recognizes that her parents’ divorce forced her to be able to take care of herself, which she realizes lets Louis off the hook in that department. Her dad believes she’ll make the right decision if she follows her heart. He knows Louis is a stand-up guy, and Louis will prove it even more if he never shares the details of their inebriated conversation. Clearly, Hannah’s father doesn’t know how reality television works.
The following day, Daniel and his brother are hanging out with their father. Daniel believes that his father’s former prison time has made them closer. While Daniel has struggled in finding a serious relationship, he has taken a lot of pride in taking over his father’s law firm in his absence. However, now that his father is back and the firm is a success, Daniel may be ready for a change. How would his life be different if he hadn’t put everything on hold to come back to Savannah?
Ashley goes to visit her brother’s wife to get a much longed for praying mantis tattoo. Her sister-in-law is the yin to her brother’s yang. Why oh why can’t Ashley have that with Dennis? Doesn’t she deserve a lasting love story? Said sister-in-law/tattoo artist tries to build up Dennis, but Ashley stops her. Sure, Dennis is a good person, but are they a good couple?
Catherine and Lyle are enjoying a weeknight date, and Catherine admits that she’s finally getting into the groove of having Lyle living back in Savannah. Admittedly she doesn’t do well with adaptation. Blame it on her seasonal affective disorder (and fear of commitment). Lyle takes this tidbit of complacency and runs with it. If Catherine is excited to have him back in Savannah, she’s clearly ready to be his wife, right?

Every year, a few Big Brother houseguests stand out. Some stand out for being over the top characters, some stand out for fitting too much of a Big Brother stereotype, and a select few stand out for their potential winning possibilities. The Big Brother 19 houseguests all seem to possess at least one or two winner traits, such as physical prowess, emotional intelligence, or cunningness.
We analyzed, researched, and judged the year’s final 16 housemates to see who has the best chance to win. Of course, anything can happen on Big Brother 19. Therefore, we expect a twist or two to completely hurt someone’s winning chances, or people to immediately change their personality within the confines of the Big Brother 19 house. Therefore, we accept in advance our possibility of being wrong, but based on initial first impressions, these are the six houseguests we believe have the best odds to win the season.
Elena Davies
Elena’s photo and occupation (radio personality) made us think that she would come off too over the top. However, during her interview with Jeff Schroeder, she seemed very likable and calm.
Strengths: Elena seems like she’ll easily be able to stay in the background. However, she seems social enough that at least one or two people will want her as a close ally.
Weaknesses: Elena might remain too under the radar and make it easy for people to vote her out early. She needs to join a medium sized alliance or make a strong final 2 early on to avoid becoming anyone’s target.
Winning Odds: Average. Elena’s personality might translate better in interviews than it does in the house. We’ll have to wait and see if Elena takes it too easy or stays on top of the game by constantly strategizing.
Mark Jansen
Of all the newbies, Mark surprised us the most. We were ready to write him off as just another alpha-male Big Brother player. However, like Big Brother Canada’s Demetres Giannitos, he quickly showed a different side. He seems like a very nice guy who won’t fall into the typical bro mentality.
Strengths: We see Mark being someone’s loyal final two early in the game. We also see him easily bonding with both the males and females. Mark seems like he’ll be good at physical competitions, so that should save him once or twice.
Weaknesses: If Mark seems like too much of a physical threat, he’ll be a target all game. He might have to comp beast his way to the end. Mark admitted that he’s girl crazy, so we expect that will get him in trouble.
A showmance would make Mark’s target grow even bigger. Additionally, he seems like the type of guy who would kind of let his showmance partner take control. That could be disastrous for Mark if his partner is too much of an alpha female.
Winning Odds: Slightly below average. We marked Mark below average because his physique will be a hard obstacle to overcome. He’ll be labeled a comp threat early in the game. Mark would have to throw quite a few competitions to get people to see him as a weak competitor.
Dominique Cooper
Dominique not only showed herself to be extremely geeky, but also a charming, bubbly woman. She shouldn’t have a problem fitting into any crowd.
Strengths: We see Dominique easily bonding with nerd superfans lie Ramses Soto and Cameron Heard. They could become a powerful trio. Dominique’s mind should help her win many of the mental competitions.
Weaknesses: Her intelligence may be too intimidating to many of the Big Brother 19 players, especially alpha male types with egos. We also don’t know how she’ll bond with the other women, especially those more into glamour than education.
Winning Odds: Slightly above average. We would love to see Dominique make it at least to the final 5, but we have a feeling one of those alpha males will want her out early in the game.

I was expecting some damning allegations and serious shade when Kathryn Dennis stepped into the clubhouse for latest Watch What Happens Live appearance. Unfortunately (for the viewers), Andy Cohen revealed that he is not allowed to ask most questions related to Thomas Ravenel and their custody issues. With that said, they didn’t talk about too much.
Nevertheless, she threw some customary (and deserved) shade toward Landon Clements. And of course she was asked about the demise of her friendship with Jennifer Snowden. Honestly it was a pretty “blah” episode. Don’t bother watching it if you didn’t get to it yet. I am here for you with the (very few) notable highlights. Kathryn needs to return another time when she’s really allowed to talk.
Some Watch What Happens Live intern was really looking to stir the pot by putting together a compilation of Thomas and Landon footage that Kathryn was subjected to watching. As if seeing them in the episodes wasn’t already overwhelming, we were all subjected to this “highlight reel” of shameless flirting.
Andy asked Kathryn if it was weird to watch and all she had to say was “It’s funny to watch. It’s a joke really.” Yes it is. It looks like Kathryn is getting the last laugh in this situation.
A caller asked Kathryn, “If there were no men involved, would you get along with Landon?” Kathryn reasoned, “I don’t know if we would get along. Maybe it would be neutral, but I’m not interested in developing a friendship per say.” Who really is though? Landon doesn’t seem like a top notch friend to me.
Unfortunately Kathryn couldn’t discuss anything super juicy, but she was asked about the end of her relationship with Jennifer. A viewer wondered, “When it came to your conversation that you had with Jennifer, do you regret how it went or how you treated her?” Kathryn admitted, “I don’t regret how it went. Regardless of the the time frame- recently giving birth to her son- you feel the way you feel. Maybe it came at an odd time, a sensitive time, but it is what it is. We don’t see eye to eye, so no, I don’t.”
On the after show a caller asked Kathryn about Patricia disliking her. “I think that when she sees me, she sees something in herself that she resents maybe. Like she’s looking in a mirror. It’s a broad way to put it, but that’s the root of it all, because none of it makes sense otherwise.”
On Craig butting into things with Landon at dinner. “To be honest it felt good. Him coming and having my back. At that time there was so much going on, I didn’t know what anyone was saying. I appreciate the gesture.”

As much as I am entertained by pretty much everything I watch on Bravo, I can’t help being even more intrigued by what happens behind the scenes to make my favorite reality shows happen. I want to know if Housewives actually do “amicably part ways” with the network or if that is just a go-to line, like I suspect.
Even though I watch Bravo whenever possible, I still can’t get enough content and I want to know more about how it all works.
When it comes down to it, I have a million and a half questions about Bravo shows. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to ask any of them, but I did get a few answers recently when I listened to Bravo’s Daily Dish podcast with Executive Producer Ryan Flynn as a guest. He had a lot of valuable and interesting insight during the interview.
He even had some good teasers about some upcoming episodes. When asked about Vanderpump Rules, he revealed, “The number of ‘what the f-cks’ in the first first two weeks of shooting has been unbelievable. I’m not going to give away any spoilers.” I really wish that he did though. He also talked about the upcoming Mexico vacation on Real Housewives of New York. He teased, “It’s going to be one of the most epic shit shows in RHONY history.” YES. I am so here for that. I. Cannot. Wait.
Sometimes I watch Bravo and feel like someone in charge understands exactly who I want to see and that’s because they really do pay attention. Ryan shared, “I rely very much on all of you who do a great job every week publishing the Bravo Social Sentiment Report – which thankfully you guys give us a little snap chat of what people are saying about our shows on Facebook and Twitter.”
“While it may not dictate a lot of our creative edit, because a lot of times, we are already far ahead in edit, it does give me a good sense of [knowing] if the things we are finding interesting are interesting to our viewers.” Thank God someone is reading my tweets… hopefully. He added, “It’s always good to know who’s taking their knocks because it’s often a conversation to have with a production company about how’s a housewife doing given that she just got raked over the coals on social media for last night’s episode.”

So when do they know to give a cast member the ax? Ryan maintains, “I have to say when it’s time to say goodbye, it’s more often than not a mutual understanding.” Really? I find that so hard to believe. It’s tough for me to imagine most of these people relinquishing an opportunity for self-promotion.
Still, he insisted, “Everyone knows the time is just right.” Sure, but are these people willing to accept that or are they forced out? He explained, “Whether it’s a first season Housewife that just didn’t click and never sort of found the rhythm or whether it’s someone who’s been on many season who’s just a very different person from when we started with them. It’s a process and it’s a discussion. Not everyone goes quietly into the night. Sometimes there can be some understandably hurt feelings or confusion.”
Other than Jill Zarin, I would love specifics on who that applies to. Obviously this includes all the ladies who were offered the “friend of” role instead of “Housewife” and refused to take the downgrade.
Then he said something that I can’t help finding flaws in: “It’s always interesting that the shows and the franchises are always bigger than one person. When we all think, “We can never move on without ‘fill in the blank,’ somehow we do. We find new lives, new stories, and new challenges with new cast and current Housewives.” That might be true for some cities, but Real Housewives of New Jersey waited over a year to film a new season while Teresa Giudice was away in prison. Why? Because the show could not survive without her. For the most part, there isn’t a central cast member like that in the other shows, but I do feel like there are exceptions to his belief that the show is “always bigger than one person.”

Karen Huger has been revamping her image on season two of The Real Housewives Of Potomac as a kinder, less etiquette-obsessed version of the blow hard we all snarked on last year. And it’s been a welcome change! But the trip to Bermuda brought the old Karen out of the shadows to box with her cast mates – most notably, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan – over who’s really the Grand Dame of this group. According to Karen, she will never lose her title, no matter what Ashley Darby or the other ladies insinuate.
In her blog, Karen calls out Charrisse’s lies, explains how her move went (but still withholds details), and comments on Ashley’s accusations about her financial status. First, Karen says Charrisse lied about the gift baskets Karen sent to everyone’s rooms in order to make a big stink about it on camera. “Can someone please roll back the tape? Charrisse knew about the gift baskets and she knew she would be receiving one from me as well. Charrisse’s speech to the girls in the hallway was yet another lie she told just to manipulate and mislead the girls.”
“To repeat, Charrisse knew about the lovely gift baskets. If she wanted to get things twisted, the girls need to know the truth – as my mother, who I love dearly, always told me, the truth will prevail! However, girls will be girls – gotta love them!” jokes Karen, who was also called out for planning a separate boating excursion with Gizelle Bryant and Monique Samuels.
When Karen delivered the standard Housewives apology to Charrisse on their sunset cruise (AKA, “I’m sorry if you were offended!”) things got heated quickly. Asked what she thought of their conversation, Karen responds, “What conversation with Charrisse? Surely you are not referring to that net-worth and name calling 15-second-later walk off and resolve nothing? I came to Charrisse for the good of us all, but she clearly needed to have this negative energy that made it confrontational and difficult to get through to her. She will eventually figure it out. I am not her enemy. I am all about promoting not demoting.”
Well, Karen certainly isn’t into telling the whole truth when it comes to her move from Potomac to Great Falls. At the very moment she was evading the ladies’ questions on the trip, her husband Raymond was literally moving boxes into their new rental! Karen comments in her blog, “I love my husband. He did a phenomenal job in my absence. Things moved much quicker than we had anticipated and Ray got stuck with the hardest part. I did struggle with the notion of selling my home that we lived in for 20 years and raised my children, but it is all working out. The area that I am in is very nice but I do miss some things.”

Karen adds that she’s nearer to her parents now, for which she is grateful. But why all of the shadiness surrounding when, where, and why she was moving? Ashley insinuated that financial problems were underlying Karen’s strange behavior, but Karen (of course) claims otherwise. She defends, “Ashley has her own share of issues, and malicious allegations are not becoming to her or anyone. However, despite the beliefs of others, I am a supporter of Ashley and Michael. I truly want them to work as a couple. Her time and energy would be better spent dealing with how to get those customers through the door and, more importantly, getting on the same page with her hubby.”
“Apparently, she still has not learned her lesson about putting her nose into other people’s finances. I may have to ask Robyn Dixon to get her straight about dipping her nose where it doesn’t belong if she keeps it up!!! Ha ha! I remain very hopeful for Ashley. She will learn!”
Despite certain people coming for her title, Karen says she will never give up her number one spot. “DE-titled…Ha Ha Ha!” laughs Karen. “If the girls could carry the title, they would already have it. Please let me go on record by saying, I am not into titles. I know exactly who I am…These ladies will not define me. That is my job to show you who I am. Besides, ‘cream always rises to the top.’ It does not matter which locality I lay my head, the title that was bestowed was all about my attitude. They see who I am and what I represent. As I look over my life, I am very grateful for many things. Right now, I am most grateful for family and friends. Come on ladies get behind some real substance with our time instead of this pettiness. Reality check, next!”
