Exclusive Interview! Stephanie Hollman Discusses Keeping It Real On The Real Housewives Of Dallas
She really is the girl next door! The Real Housewives of Dallas has found a keeper in Stephanie Hollman, who is bringing a little bit of “real” to Reality TV, yet managing to entertain us along the way. All without screaming in another woman’s face, demanding apologies from people for 16 straight weeks, or forcing her “journey” down our throats. How does she do it? According to Stephanie, who I got a chance to chat with this week, it’s about being who you are – cameras or no cameras. Below, Stephanie breaks down her reality, whether it’s true friendship with Brandi Redmond, firm boundaries with LeeAnne Locken, or how her spiritual upbringing keeps her sane today.
How has life changed since your debut on RHOD? “I will say it’s been very hard. Even before the first episode came out, people were harsh. But now I’ve been getting 95% positive feedback from Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. I stay off of other websites because I feel like people will take time to be negative rather than positive.”
CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE!
Who is the most genuine on and off camera? “Brandi Redmond. I talked to her this morning and told her, ‘You just let it all hang out!’ She doesn’t hold back. She’s let people into parts of her life that aren’t so pretty, which is hard because you can get a lot of criticism. It takes a really strong, vulnerable person to do that.”
“You know, I think Americans, we relate to people who are struggling. Especially on these shows where you are married with kids and having problems in your marriage, like all of us do, or our kids going crazy. Marriage is hard, and having children is just an added element. Travis and I have to work on our marriage because life can just become about getting stuff done, and children, and work. I mean, my kids throw tantrums. My life’s not perfect. I think we, as women, need to give ourselves permission to not have a ‘perfect’ life. We’re too hard on ourselves.”
How has the show affected your friendship with Brandi? “I would say it’s the same. Whenever you have a microscope on anything, I think you have to put more work into it. But with the show, and with her showing some hard times, I’m always calling and checking in on her. It’s hard when you have people you don’t know wanting to tell you what to do in your family and your marriage. I mean, I was on Twitter yesterday and some lady was calling my children ‘idiots,’ and I’m like wait! They’re 3 and 5! They’re children! It took all I could do to not get online and tell her what I thought.”
“But between Brandi and I, it’s brought us closer together because we are the only ones that understand what each other are going through. I think we hold on to each other a little tighter now. We’re each other’s biggest cheerleaders too. I want good things for her. There’s no competitiveness with us. We’re both happy for each other’s successes, and we’re equally there for each other when we’re struggling.”
How do you reconcile real life with the need to bring drama to the show? “It’s kind of sad. I get criticized all the time for not having a backbone, but I’m like, how does being nice and caring about other people’s feelings a bad thing? I have to remember that my children may look at this when they’re older one day. Maybe I’m not perfect, but I want them to see that at least I tried to do the right thing.”
What would viewers be surprised to learn about you? “With the show’s emphasis on charity, I wish they would have let me highlight my background in social work. I was in social services for 6 years before I met my husband, and I wish I could’ve talked about that so people don’t just think I hang out all the time talking about pooping and farting!”
“They [the show] made it about charity, but didn’t really make it about the important things in life. They made it about charity in a negative sense too, with one woman telling everyone else how she thinks the charity world works. A lot of us are in the charity world, but we’re just not as vocal about it because when you make it about yourself, you’re defeating the reason why people do the work.”
You’re talking about LeeAnne and her charity obsession, right? “Yeah. I think her comments gave organizations and people who do the work a bad name. It made it look like charity was this exclusive world, but it’s work that anyone can be involved in.”
“I worked for Head Start, and at night worked at the Madonna House, a shelter for pregnant homeless women. A lot of them were domestic violence victims, which was why they were homeless. We helped them get back on their feet through their pregnancy, get away from their partner if needed. It was good. Really good. And I wish they [the show] would have focused more on things like that if they were going to go the ‘charity’ route.”
Are you surprised by the show’s editing, knowing what was filmed versus the package delivered to viewers? “I was a little surprised because sometimes they minimized things that happened. I do bring that up in the reunion. At one point when I was yelled at [by LeeAnne], they kind of took away what had happened in the beginning. Sometimes they make edits to make the storyline better, but it can get kind of hurtful when you’ve lived it.”
“I told our producer I’m very grateful that the show portrayed me for who I am, but I never really liked the idea of RHOD going so heavy on charity work because I really feel like it’s such a personal thing. If we do a season 2, I hope they cut back on that. We are not the voice of ‘Dallas Charity,’ nor should we be.”
What does RHOD bring to the Housewives franchise that is different from the other cities? “You know, I think there is a comedic spin our city has that the other’s don’t have. Even the drama is so ridiculously silly. All of us are a little goofy and self deprecating, and I think it shows on screen. And I hope it’s a show you can watch, then go to bed afterwards. That you don’t have to watch something happy to get out of a bad head space. Because I’ve watched Housewives shows before where I have to literally stay up and watch Comedy Central afterwards for 30 minutes just to calm down! It can get so heavy.”
You gave us a peek into your family of origin, who brought you up in an Evangelical Christian church. What is their reaction to this show? “My family is so, so sweet. I am not from a wealthy family. My grandpa is a greeter at Walmart, and a lot of the reason I did this show is to help him out financially. It sounds awkward, but my husband works for our family – I don’t want him to have to take care of my family. I just wanted to make my own money to help my grandparents out.”
“My grandpa is still on his feet all day, greeting people in a small town in Oklahoma, but he’s told everybody at Walmart about it [the show]. He called me the other day and said, ‘Your ratings are gonna go way up because everybody at Walmart is watching your show!’ (laughs) I was like, aww! I don’t think that’s how it works, but thank you!”
“My mom prays a lot. She’s a really good sounding board. Sometimes, I will have her watch the episodes with me, especially if I am struggling writing my blog. Even before taping the reunion, I called her and we prayed. My family is very religious, but they’re not the kind of religious people who turn their back on you if you fall. They’re very forgiving and very loving. They want me to be happy. And for a long time in my life, I wasn’t. I can even say that going into this show, I lived my life for everybody else’s happiness, not my own. I was a people pleaser to the point where it was unhealthy. But my mom and family literally took off work during the reunion to pray together. I mean, they just believe in some prayer!”
What’s Travis’ reaction to how he’s been portrayed on the show? “He’s been really supportive. He knew going in that they needed a little bit of ridiculousness. But he’s been a team player. I feel like I’m more protective of him than he is of himself. He doesn’t really care what people think of him, which is so weird because I’m so opposite. He thinks this is a good thing for me because I kind of gave up my career and social life when we had children.”
“We also got therapy the entire time while we are filming, which helps too. And we still do because things will come up in the episodes, and it’s good to have a neutral party help us discuss things.”
Has Travis’ micromanaging decreased? “It has! Honestly, this show has been one of the best things that’s happened to my marriage – even if that’s sick and twisted! It gave us a new perspective. He’s such a manager, and sometimes I don’t have a voice. I would get mad at him for something I would never acknowledge or talk about. But now we both look at life differently. He watches it and sees how he needs to be softer with me, and I need to speak up for what I want instead of thinking he’s going to read my mind.”
“And with the women on the show, I really need to work on boundaries.”
Speaking of boundaries, do you feel like you have boundaries in place with LeeAnne now? “I think you will see at the reunion especially that there are some boundaries. And filming with LeeAnne, I saw her as somebody that was very scary to me. I didn’t trust her, and I don’t get into relationships with friends unless I feel like it’s a safe, healthy place for me to be. I’m not still completely there with her.”
“At first I thought I would hurt LeeAnne if I said what I wanted because she seemed like such a lost, hurt, emotionally unstable person. Then I realized that if I didn’t set boundaries up, she would take advantage of me. With LeeAnne, I noticed there is definitely a pattern. She gets upset, then lashes out, screams and makes a big scene, then becomes apologetic. But then she puts the blame on her past. It’s like a circle that keeps going and going. And it’s no way to live.”
Any teasers for tonight’s episode? “Tonight’s episode shows a really horrible experience that happened off camera concerning Cary Deuber. And it’s the one thing that made me kind of done with LeeAnne. Tonight is the night where I finally draw a line in the sand with her. It was just so abusive, and that is something I do not tolerate with friends or any relationships.”

Southern Charm Tonight: More Questions About The Paternity Of Kathryn Dennis’ Son
If the preview clip for tonight’s Southern Charm is any indication, Kathryn Dennis is going to have a lot to say after it airs. As much as this cast bellyaches about her, they should be lucky she provides them with so much storyline every season. Tonight’s episode is going to revolve around more questions of her son’s paternity, with Thomas Ravenel’s friends encouraging him to go for a second paternity test.
During an all-guy dinner party thrown by Patricia, Thomas claims that the first paternity test came up inconclusive and so Whitney, Craig, Patricia and JD try to convince him to have a second one performed after the birth of St. Julien. Read here for Kathyrn’s take on the paternity test.
Tonight we’ll also see the possible reconciliation of Kathryn and Thomas. She previously shared that while she was in the hospital giving birth they discussed becoming a true family unit, but we know how that turns out.
Shep also deals with a blow in his relationship with Bailey, but Landon delivers a “shocking declaration” – will it matter?
We’ll also see Craig chatting up his former boss, looking for some advice about returning to law.
Tune in tonight at 9/8c and join us here in the comments!

Dorinda Medley Gives Her Two Cents On The “Crucifixion Of The Countess”
Last week’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York has been the hot topic of conversation all over the reality realm since it aired and Dorinda Medley is finally weighing in on her Christmas slumber party from hell. She gives her opinion on the “crucifixion of the countess” and says that Bethenny Frankel was mean and inappropriate.
Dorinda starts off, “Boy oh boy, what an episode right?! Here I am thinking I’m going to have a beautiful weekend, and I mean #BeautifulWeekend, away from some of the chaos and madness we’ve been dealing with in the city, only to find the Berkshires went BERSERKSHIRES on us!”
Dorinda shared in her Bravo blog that the weekend started off with a sign of things to come, “Len and I went up early to get groceries, start cooking, wrap gifts, obsess over which Spotify playlist to choose, and decorate — I love decorating for Christmas, if you didn’t notice — and as soon as we finished all that good stuff, Coco started some redecorating of his own. (Thank God he missed the tree skirts and Santa’s boots…) Meanwhile, Ramona and I went to bury a beautiful bird that had crashed into my window, which I now realize was an omen of things to come! And THEN the guests arrived! But this was no classic weekend in the country…this was like another hundred people just got off of the bus and went on parade. Ramona, Bethenny and Lu set the stage, and I should’ve caught on earlier that this wasn’t going to be just another Sunday in the park.”
She continues, feeling there’s some sort of bad juju in her dining room that it causes so much anger in Bethenny. “There’s something about that dining room that really gets Bethenny going, right? Last year, it was over Heather’s meatballs, this year it was about being “the only one with the balls” to call Lu out on her lifestyle choices. I don’t think any of that took balls, to be honest…I thought it was mean and just inappropriate. This was neither the time nor the place! And if this was jinxed, I hardly think it’s because I don’t know how to host a party, since I’ve done that very successfully for years, but it’s the fact that most of these guests don’t know how to behave as guests. I thought this would be a nice Christmas slumber party, not the Crucifixion of the Countess!”
Dorinda says that when you visit someone’s home, you behave yourself and be the best guest you can be. “I guess that’s what’s bothered me the most about all this: the lack of appreciation, if not respect, for what I consider my REAL home…and sanctuary. On that point, I thought Jules and Carole were the most gracious guests, although I was surprised — and a bit annoyed — that Carole seemed unaware Lu was going to be there. Listen, the house is big enough for 18 Luanns and 21 Caroles, as I said in my tweet. If someone doesn’t want to be in the same room as someone else, there are literally about 20 other rooms to go hang out in — including the closets, which as you saw, can accommodate 5-6 people if necessary. But even then…deal with it…it’s one night, not one week. ” She adds, “That said, Jules and Carole did the right thing. They avoided confrontation, avoided being dragged into a raging argument and they focused on the decor and flair I sprinkled throughout Blue Stone Manor. (Yes, the closets are all wallpapered because WHY NOT?!)”
On Ramona Singer’s peace-keeping, “Even though Ramona was “unaware” that Coco was using the house as his personal sh–show, she did an amazing job at mediating the arguments and trying to diffuse and alleviate the situation in general. I was actually proud of her, despite wanting to strangle her too at some point…but that’s Ramona…. She makes people Ramotional, and I’m highly susceptible! All in all, she was a great guest and really helped me out that weekend. Helped in the kitchen, helped lower the temperature with the ladies, and didn’t complain about it being hot in the Berkshires — a total WIN-WIN! Thank you, Ramona. You’re always welcome back (see you next month!).”
Dorinda ends her blog by sharing that the weekend inspired her New Year’s resolutions this year.
“A. Make sure Coco stays in Lucy’s room so I can contain some of the sh– to one space.
B. Jules and Carole are welcome ANY TIME.
C. Acknowledge Ramona’s good qualities and love her for those. She can stay.
D. Don’t second-and-triple-guess yourself when it comes to Sonja. Had she been there for this nuclear meltdown, it would’ve been a nuclear holocaust.
E. Buy Lu a dictionary and send her one of Mom’s cakes for her birthday.
F. Allow Bethenny in every room but definitely keep her out of my dining room forever. And ever. Amen.”

Tom Schwartz And Katie Maloney Redecorate Their Apartment – Video & Photos!
Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney are plugging away at this whole adulting thing. After getting engaged, they moved into a fancy grown-up apartment and are now redecorating, and stuff – but not with Goodwill castoffs!
The Vanderpump Rules stars appeared on the YouTube show Mr. Kate’s OMG We’re Coming Over to get professional help redecorating their new West Hollywood pad. Naturally Tom 2 and Katie are all about the renovations just as filming for season 5 begins (which will undoubtedly center around their wedding).
CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE!
Tom and Katie must really be making bank, because this pad looks pretty fabulous (and enormous) by Vanderpump Rules standards – especially compared to everyone else’s abode and where they moved from. Hmmm… do we think it’s time to transition the cast to younger, more impoverished servers already? #YES
Predictably Tom and Katie do not see eye-to-eye on design. Tom likes minimalism, but is really cluttered. And Katie, well, she has no taste – as evidenced by her wardrobe.
Designer Joey Zehr shared, “Watch @twschwa and I climb to new heights in our latest episode of OMG We’re Coming Over over on YouTube.com/MrKate with @mrkatedotcom and @musickillskate #omgwerecomingover #pumprules” [Credit]
“Tom basically likes what I like,” insists Katie. Tom agrees, “You do all the work and I just sit back and critique it.” Since they both work from home, plus shoot Vanderpump Rules there, the design scheme was hipster minimalism meets vintage glam, with focus on the dining room and living room. “We’re all about cocooning now in our hermitage,” jokes Tom. “And hostessing!” chimes in Katie. These two need a translator.
A sneak peak of the reveal! [Credit]
Nevertheless, the reno looks pretty great!
You can see the Before & After here. The episode is below.
Seriously – can’t this show hit up Scheana Marie’s Cave of Narcissism next?

Report: The Sordid Past Of Vicki Gunvalson’s Boyfriend Steve Lodge; Plus He’s Running For City Government!
Vicki Gunvalson does. not. know how to pick them. Vicki has been dating new man Steve Lodge and gushing about how great he is – even her daughter Briana seems to approve. Just when you think it couldn’t possibly be worse than Brooks Ayers comes news that Steve has a sleazy past all his own!
Steve, a would-be politician is currently running for Anaheim City Council under the platform that his past law enforcement experience will protect the city’s future, but Steve’s own past as an alleged dirty cop may come back to haunt him!
Seriously – it’s like Vicki blew all her Love Tank good luck with Donn, and since then it has been dud after dud. Or who knows – maybe Donn cursed her. Wouldn’t that be a fun storyline for Real Housewives Of Orange County?!
CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE!
Anyway, Steve, a former police officer turned city government consultant, had a disastrous attempt at running for city councilman in 2012. Oh, and if you think he merely retired from the police force, news sources tell a different story.
Running as a Republican even though he failed to secure an official party endorsement, Steve vied for a seat on the Anaheim City Council, finishing in last place – even behind a so-called “phantom candidate” (whatever that means). The reason for Steve’s spectacular failing had to do with his record as an officer in the SanTana police force where he was charged with multiple conduct violations, and according to the OC Weekly, was the subject of several excessive force lawsuits – including a case where a jaywalker received a $292,000 settlement as a result of Steve’s treatment.
Another of Steve’s victims was wrongfully imprisoned for murder (but has since been released).
Reportedly Steve was also against the city electing a Mexican Chief-Of-Police and told constituents, “He’s dirty. It’d be a bad choice.” However when Steve began running for city council he attempted to secure the Hispanic vote by billing himself as Steve “Chavez” Lodge and was subsequently sued by a blogger claiming he fraudulently used the name. A judge since ruled that he could run as Seven Albert Chavez Lodge. (His current campaign page on Facebook lists him as Steven Chavez Lodge). I assume that means he is, in fact, Hispanic? I’m sure Meghan King Edmonds is already on the case!
Luckily for the residents of Anaheim, it looks like Steve’s murky past and sleazy drama hasn’t daunted him – he is running again this year! With Vicki at his side? Is he using Real Housewives Of Orange County as a platform for his would-be political campaign? Honestly – wouldn’t that HURT his chances?
Shockingly reports say Steve has several wealthy backers in the Anaheim area – including the support of the banking industry. And the insurance one, I presume?
Whatever the case, Vicki is happy in love – and rushing into things, as always!
You can check out Steve’s campaign website here.

Shahs Of Sunset Recap: Bomb Time At The Apollo
Did you miss the Shahs of Sunset after a little Memorial Day Weekend break? We had a week to catch our breath and recover from the ambush wedding of Reza Farahan and Adam Neely and I’m not sure that was enough after watching last night’s drama. You know what they say, there’s no rest for the weary and that especially applies to reality TV fans.
We pick up right where we left off, in Palm Springs, with Reza and Adam driving off into the proverbial sunset, which was actually the darkness of night. The rest of the gang is left at the restaurant, looking glassy eyed and hungover already. Mike Shouhed is busy arguing on the phone with estranged wife, Jessica Parido. Mercedes “MJ” Javid, crooked weave and unmanageable in her drunkenness, uses that as an opportunity to snipe at Mike about his relationship. Boyfriend Tommy Feight and a surprisingly sober Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi play the voices of reason and shove her into an Escalade but they can’t shut off her slurring tirade.
CLICK CONTINUE READING FOR MORE!
Tommy is very adamant that Mike’s relationship isn’t her business and very astutely points out that MJ likely feels the pressure of another failed relationship weighing on her new relationship with him. Damn, Tommy for the free therapy win! Color me impressed!
Once they all arrive back at the guest house, MJ tries to apologize and Mike angrily accepts but wants to be left alone. GG is thrilled that she is the peacemaker and not the cause of all the issues for once, but that doesn’t stop her from gossiping with MJ on the couch about it all. Red solo cup in hand, MJ says she is trying to be there for Mike but can’t help him if he won’t be honest. And by helping, I guess she means constantly nagging and antagonizing him about his already volatile relationship?
The next morning, Mike is lacing up a fresh pair of hideous sneakers and GG is snapping selfies with the dog, all while avoiding MJ’s cleaning spree. The house looks like they just had a frat party, which isn’t too far off. Mike is too tired to help because he overheard what sounded like someone getting murdered but it was actually MJ and Tommy having sex. I don’t know how anyone can eat after that but brunch must go on.
The gang awkwardly sits down to eat and Reza immediately asks MJ why she was so aggressive last night at dinner. MJ explains that Mike always buries his head into his phone and Mike wants her to lay off. MJ immediately starts yelling and Reza wrangles them all inside to speak privately. MJ seems to have much deeper issues with Mike’s relationship than she should and Tommy’s attempts to calm her down don’t really work. Reza makes a run at talking to her and it seems to sink in. Mike comes out and says he doesn’t want to hurt her and just needs her to be a friend. She seems frustrated that she can’t fix his mess of a marriage and apologizes as they hug it out for now.
Reza meets up with Asa Soltan Rahmati and comedian Luenell, wearing what I can only guess is a blazer fashioned from an old Ikea pillow. Seriously, I had that pillow many moons ago, so I know what I’m talking about. Apparently, Reza has always had a passion for comedy and fancies himself a comedian. You mean like how he fashions himself stylish? He asks Luenell advice on how to know you’re really a comedian and she tells him it’s important to understand that being funny isn’t just about those around you thinking you’re funny, it’s actually being funny to those who don’t know you. Does anyone think Reza is funny outside of Reza?
MJ and Tommy go out to dinner and there is trouble brewing in paradise. MJ seems to think that she is an adult and wants to be with an adult but Tommy doesn’t take certain things seriously that she thinks he should. Said the woman who moved him in and dragged him to the fertility clinic to get his sperm tested faster than she drew on those Joan Crawford eyebrows. Tommy points out that the big problem is that every time they argue, MJ says they are done and that’s a lot of crazy to deal with. MJ argues that there is too much at stake because she is forty…one (I demand a recount) and asks if Tommy will go to therapy. After calling her nuts (batshit, to be exact), Tommy agrees with a smile.
FINALLY, Shervin Roohparvar makes an appearance by meeting Mike (and another dumb hat of his) for dinner. His ego has also made an appearance because even after a disaster of a date he had a few episodes ago, Shervin brags to Mike that he’s playing it slow and says that part of having game means you don’t let people know you have game.
Shervin starts talking about how so many divorces nowadays involve Facebook and Mike admits that he took himself off of all social media because it’s like a cancer in a relationship. Mike is learning that it’s not compromise that made him realize he isn’t a stud who can do whatever he wants, it’s the fear of loss. With a statement that shallow, I’m wondering if all those hats are blocking valuable information from absorbing into Mike’s tiny brain because this is one dude who does NOT get it. Jessica wants Mike to start courting her again and Mike hopes that date by date, their marriage will come back together. Just like shoe by shoe, he will build an empire.
Later, Mike is home alone in his house, just trying to change the bedsheets, shower, and organize the multiple bottles of Fiji water on the nightstand. He calls Jessica to invite her on a date to Reza’s comedy show and she agrees.
Reza and Adam are preparing for Reza’s big debut and Adam is busy pumping Reza full of delusions on how he excels at everything he does. This is the real comedy show right here and we don’t have to pay a dime to see it. They show up early at the Improv and Reza stress eats his way through platter after platter. Asa shows up, adding more comedy to the night by dressing up as Michael Jackson in Thriller, topped off with Mike’s brown felt hat from his dinner with Shervin. Jessica arrives by calling Mike to come and get her outside, where she looks like she is contractually obligated to be there. Now that they are separated, Mike is noticing things about his wife that he has never noticed before, like the fact that she is hot. That’s deep, Mike.
Once inside, Reza makes a big show of Jessica arriving, like he actually likes her. The rest of the gang welcomes her with open arms but you can cut the awkwardness with the knife they used for all those buffalo chicken tenders. Mike thinks Jessica is giving him “mixed” signals because she refuses to kiss him and he wants to write a rap song about it. Do you think it’s a mixed signal to marry someone, take vows of fidelity, and then cheat on them? Maybe he could add that to his little rap song.
The show is about to begin and Reza is bloated from too many drinks and buffalo chicken platters. He jumps on stage and you can’t exactly hear a pin drop but you can hear cell phones going off. Reza is thrown off by the fact that there are a “bunch of weirdos” in the audience and not a gaggle of diehard standup comedy fans that came to see him. He apparently also thought it was Showtime at the Apollo the way he’s cursing and calling everyone bitches.
GG admits that her eyes and ears hurt to watch, Asa is texting, Shervin is eating, and Jessica is working her drink straw hard. Reza finishes his massive turd of a set with a horribly offensive and not even remotely funny joke about Asians. No one laughs but everyone claps to see him exit the stage. Reza seems to think that just because he didn’t die from embarrassment, tonight was a success and I think we can all agree that he’s giving himself too much credit. Comedy is not your bag, baby – stick to mustaches!
After the show, the gang gets to drinking off that stinker of comedy set and yes, I am skipping completely over the fact that GG was flashing her boob job to everyone. The gang piles into a car to go to the next club and we are treated to GG randomly and pointlessly using the phrase “Girl, Bye” again. Has anyone been keeping count this season? Just curious.
As the gang goes into the club, Jessica is just drunk enough to make out with her husband on the curb with her cell phone glued to her ear. She makes a comment about going to bone in the car and Mike literally RUNS to an Uber, not even bothering to conceal a skip here and there, that’s how excited he is. I guess all it takes to fix a crumbling marriage is one horrible night at the Improv and a whole lot of Tito’s vodka.

Sister Wives Recap: And Baby Sister Makes Eighteen
I’m going out on a limb here and betting that last night’s Sister Wives was longer than Robyn Brown’s actual labor. Baby Sister arrived last night, and Kody cites that Robyn is far more independent with this pregnancy than she was with Solomon. We are treated to highlights of Robyn’s frustrations with Kody over the last several weeks, and both agree that their emotional connection isn’t what it was with the last. Robyn has felt “off” the entire time, and she tends to listen to her intuition which worries Kody to no end.
Baby Sister will be Kody’s eighteenth child. The family reminisces about firstborn Logan. He was born to Janelle after Kody had married his first three wives. Christine got pregnant not long after marrying Kody. Meri gave birth to Mariah a few short months after Christine gave birth to Aspyn. Madison came next, and Janelle had a difficult time producing enough milk. Maddie wasn’t gaining weight, so Meri stepped in to breast feed. As Kody’s brood got bigger, he felt more scrutiny from employers and customers. Many of Christine and Janelle’s pregnancies overlapped. While it’s a bit odd to think about, the family videos of the kids are adorable.

While Christine and Janelle have had both home births and hospital births, Robyn has had her first three children at home. Historically, polygamists were scared of the questions asked by the hospital. When Truely was born, it was the first time the entire Brown family went into the delivery room to welcome the new addition. Both Robyn and Christine discuss the added anxiety of having a cameraman shoot their labor for millions of viewers to watch. Footage shows Robyn offering to be a surrogate for Meri on the heels of Solomon’s birth. Robyn inquires whether all of this baby talk is upsetting to Meri. As Meri gets teary, the other wives try to be supportive, reminding her that she’s got a wet bar slew of grandchildren in their future.
After way too much talk about Baby Sister, the focus turns to Maddie’s upcoming wedding. Janelle’s mother is in town, and Maddie takes her mother, grandmother, Christine, and sisters Aspyn and Mariah to check out her recently fitted wedding gown. Janelle’s mother cries tears of joy upon seeing her granddaughter dressed as a bride. Back at home, Christine and Robyn are decorating Aspyn’s new room in Robyn’s house. As she is president of Greek life at UNLV, Christine wants Aspyn’s space to reflect her new position. Robyn and Christine have been thick as thieves lately after a rocky start when Robyn joined the family. They cite that horrible cardboard boat regatta as a bonding experience. Any experience to belittle Kody is a reason to come together!
Christine and Robyn believe Aspyn is so ingrained in her sorority because she desires the sisterhood her mothers have without having to share a husband. Robyn jokes that Aspyn wants sister wives perks with none of the work. As the women rush to get Aspyn’s room put together, they realize that Aspyn moving in with Robyn is bringing the wives closer. If they can be supportive instead of jealous, their relationship will flourish. Aspyn is thrilled at the surprise, and she’s grateful that her mom forwent her idea for a big party.
It’s a Brown tradition that the oldest daughters cook breakfast for the family the morning after Christmas. This year, the oldest girls are all in college, so they are passing the baton to the next generation of sisters. The family gathers at Christine’s house to celebrate the last breakfast by the older crew, and Kody once again has an important announcement. He’s repeats himself over and over as the kids talk and laugh. His children pay him absolutely no attention, and he pouts that he’s not the center of attention. Robyn reminds him to be patient and he wonders why gathering his family causes such drama. Who is the dramatic one in this scenario? Drum roll…the Browns are taking a family vacation to Hawaii! More footage for next season!
As Robyn’s labor progresses, Kody believes he’s achieved the perfect balance of being engaged, supportive, and not easily offended. He’s the enforcer. Robyn’s parents and her three children are all in the room. Solomon is the only child who will be excluded from witnessing childbirth. Aurora is tracking contractions, and all of the family is abuzz about the arrival of Baby Sister. Robyn’s intuitions are concerning Kody, as is his mother-in-law’s constant prayer vigil. However, Janelle and Christine think Kody is a wonderful birthing partner. He’s holding Robyn and waiting for her to be ready to move to the bed. The room is prepped, Robyn is struggling, and Kody’s trying to figure out a name so Baby Sister doesn’t have “Baby Sister” on her future driver’s license. The midwife is all smiles as she gives Robyn a pep talk.
Robyn is very quite through her contractions, a lesson imposed upon her by her mother who believes labor should be as ladylike as possible. When Robyn makes a face, her father laughs and says it’s the same face she made when he told her not to marry Kody. Robyn’s dad’s got jokes! She’s dilated ten centimeters and her daughters are listening outside the bedroom door waiting to hear the confirmation cry. Robyn’s next push splashes all over the midwife as Kody nags her about her breathing. The baby crowns, but the midwife gets intense and seems to go inside Robyn to pull out the baby. When Baby Sister lets out her first cry, I get teary. Damn you, TLC! I’m not sobbin’ over Robyn! That’s her job! The family convenes on Robyn’s room to meet their new family member. Her daughters are bawling with joy, and the midwife recognizes that Robyn’s mom was a bit nervous about how long it took the shoulders pass through the birth canal.
Baby Sister is nine pounds, nine ounces, and upon examination, the midwife reveals that the baby’s collar bone was broken during childbirth. She assures Robyn and Kody that this is a very normal phenomenon with big babies with broad shoulders. Had Robyn had a hospital birth, the doctors would tell her the same thing. It will heal on its own. A week after her arrival, the Browns are still reveling in the excitement, as well as the news that both Logan and Mariah have been accepted to the same PA school. Their plan is to move in together with Logan’s girlfriend in a two bedroom apartment. As much as Janelle wishes they’s get married before co-habitating, she isn’t going to force her views on her son. The thought makes Kody squeamish. It’s endearing to see all of Baby Sister’s siblings showering her with love. After ruling out Esmerelda and Kevin as names, Kody calls together the family for another announcement. It’s Hawaii! Ariella May, and they are going to call her Aria.

Sister Wives Maddie Brown And Caleb Brush Tied The Knot Saturday In Montana!
Not only were we treated to another two hour mega-episode (baby sister arrived!) of Sister Wives last night, but this weekend was a special one for the Browns in real time. On Saturday, the eldest daughter of Janelle and Kody Brown tied the knot at a rustic, tree-house filled venue in Montana. Maddie’s relationship and engagement with Caleb Brush has been featured on the last two seasons of the show, often showing more common sense and reason than the all of the Brown parents combined.
Of course, we know very few details of the wedding…except that it happened. TLC needs enough material to make it through one more season, especially if it plans to maintain these super-sized episodes. The wedding will be a nice compliment to the new baby and the catfishing.

Two weeks ago, Maddie teased about the big day on Instagram, sharing the above-picture and writing, “I remember taking these pictures thinking ‘this wedding is never going to get here’ now we are 2 weeks out. I cannot wait to be married to you Caleb James! You are my match in every way!”
Janelle shared Us Weekly’s exclusive on the big day via Twitter. Speaking to Us right before her wedding, Maddie reveals, “I’m pretty excited. It doesn’t feel real,” adding that her outdoorsy theme was not the norm. She reveals, “I just wanted something unique, so we steered away from classic and Caleb liked he bohemian idea a lot.”
Speaking of Caleb, he wanted to be comfortable dancing with his new bride, which is why he confused his new father-in-law by sidestepping the traditional tux in favor of casual khakis. Caleb joked to the site, “I can cut a rug on a dance floor in khakis better than a monkey suit.”
As for the rest of festivities and fanfare, we’re likely going to have to wait for next season…or a Brown wedding special!
