Porsha Williams Guobadia is experiencing quite the rollercoaster of emotions, having announced her return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta just one week before filing for divorce from her husband of 15 months, Simon Guobadia.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, and a source close to the matter, the divorce is “unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past.” That is in reference to the unearthing of separate court documents that revealed Simon’s criminal past, and risk of permanent deportation from the United States.
The insider added that the split is an “ongoing matter.” Exactly what that means hasn’t yet been revealed. But I’m sure we’ll all gain some clarity when RHOA returns.
Porsha’s divorce is likely to feature heavily in RHOA
Porsha’s divorce proceedings are sure to make their way into her reality TV comeback’s narrative. Cameras haven’t yet picked up for The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16. But we do know that Porsha has signed on the dotted line to return to the show. Her castmates haven’t yet been revealed, but Kandi Burruss announced she would be leaving the series after 14 seasons.
An overall scripted deal with NBCUniversal was also signed by Porsha. This allows her to tackle “scripted project opportunities across the company’s broadcast and streaming properties,” as well as Real Housewives.
“I’m incredibly thankful for the vision and faith NBCUniversal has put in me to be a larger part of their family,” she said at the time. “I’m looking forward to being back on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and showing the world my new world!” Not even Porsha could have predicted how different her “world” would look when filming begins, however.
Simon seemed excited at the prospect of Porsha’s return. He took to social media to celebrate to thank Porsha’s fans for their love. Now, it’s unlikely he’ll even feature on the show when it makes its comeback.
