Weeks after the Sussexes moved to England, a source claims the Prince of Wales urged King Charles to release the bombshell letter. The King reasserted Harry and Meghan’s non-working status, and the message was just the beginning.

Prince William reportedly wants Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to stop ‘trading’ on their royal status. A source told Closer that William encouraged Charles to issue the letter, since seeing how hard it landed with Harry encouraged him. The insider described it as an obvious message aimed squarely at Harry. William reportedly took it as a sign his father might be willing to draw a firmer line with the Sussexes.

The source also claimed William was frustrated when Charles stepped in after Uganda withdrew from the Invictus Games, reportedly over the fallout from the letter. Uganda later returned to the Games after the King’s intervention. The insider also claimed William disagreed with Charles’ decision to intervene after Uganda withdrew from the Invictus Games. “In William’s view, it was a huge mistake for Charles to step in,” the source said. The insider alleged that William wants Charles to “totally wash his hands” of the situation and claimed the issue could become a priority once William takes the throne.

According to the insider, William believes it would be best to resolve the couple’s status at once rather than let the confusion drag on. His goal, the source says, is a day when Harry and Meghan can no longer trade on their royal ties.

The source says William has reluctantly accepted he may be playing a longer game than he’d originally hoped. “What he won’t accept is defeat,” the insider said. The source also claimed William reminded his father that Harry was going against the arrangements reached when he and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020. The insider reportedly believes the issue could be particularly significant to the King.

Charles Spencer has reportedly made a striking admission about one of his nephews, Prince Harry. According to a new report, the 9th Earl Spencer claimed that the Duke of Sussex was “completely fine” about his Princess Diana memoir, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.” However, while making this claim, he allegedly decided to leave out his other nephew, Prince William. Spencer’s new bombshell book about his late sister has been creating quite a stir among the media and the royal watchers. It even prompted Buckingham Palace to release an intense statement.

Charles Spencer reveals he told Prince Harry and Prince William about Diana memoir at the same time

Charles Spencer reportedly revealed that he informed both of his nephews, Prince Harry and Prince William, about his new memoir about their late mother, Princess Diana, at the same time. As reported by PEOPLE magazine, the 9th Earl Spencer recently sat for an interview with them at their family’s ancestral home, Althorp, which is also Diana’s final resting place.

During the interview, Spencer said that until later in the process, he hadn’t told his sisters, Lady Jane and Lady Sarah, or his two nephews, William and Harry, about the memoir on his late sister. Spencer then shared that it was only Professor Cat Spencer, his wife, and “the people who had to know in the book world,” who knew that he was writing “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.”

Per the news outlet, Spencer further revealed that when he finally disclosed the news about the memoir to his sisters Sarah and Jane, they were “very surprised.” The 9th Earl Spencer explained, “They hadn’t seen it coming.”

Meanwhile, during the interview, he also claimed that he informed William and Harry about the Diana memoir at “exactly” the same time as he told his sisters. “So all four of them [William and Harry and Sarah and Jane], I told them exactly the same time. And I can say that Harry is completely fine about it,” Spencer added.

King Charles recently issued a letter clarifying that Prince Harry and Meghan are “private citizens.” The move reportedly left the Sussexes upset and disappointed. She allegedly believes that the letter was issued at the behest of Prince William and that Kate was also involved in the decision.

Meghan Markle reportedly believes that Kate Middleton also played a role in the issuance of King Charles’ letter. Since returning to the UK, there has reportedly been confusion over the position of Prince Harry and Meghan. To clarify the matter, Charles issued a letter confirming their royal status. The letter mentioned that their status is “akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”

The Sussexes were reportedly deeply disappointed because they wanted to be referred to as “public figures” rather than “private citizens.” While Meghan is allegedly upset with Charles for not giving them the royal status they wanted, she also believes that it was not solely his decision.

A source told In Touch, “Prince William was clearly instrumental in getting Charles to put his foot down.” They added, “It was a power play aimed at reminding Harry and Meghan of their place in the hierarchy.” Moreover, the Duchess of Sussex allegedly believes that Kate was also part of the plan to turn the monarch against them.

Meghan and Harry moved back to the UK in late August along with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The decision was reportedly made after their successful meeting with Charles at Highgrove House in July. They are back in the UK for an extended stay, and their children have already started school this September.

As of now, the Prince and Princess of Wales have not publicly acknowledged their return. The source claimed that Meghan and Kate are not on speaking terms. Moreover, any chance of reconciliation between them appears to be slipping further away by the day, the source says.
