Ivanka Trump Reportedly Targeted in Iran-Linked Assassination Plot

A federal terrorism case took a startling turn this week after court proceedings reportedly revealed allegations involving Ivanka Trump and a suspected Iran-linked operative. The claims emerged during a hearing in Manhattan. Prosecutors outlined accusations against a man they alleged was connected to a series of international terror plots.

While the case primarily focused on broader terrorism charges, reports surrounding the suspect’s alleged interest in Donald Trump’s eldest daughter quickly drew attention. Authorities have not charged the defendant with carrying out a specific assassination plot against Ivanka. However, allegations presented in connection with the case raised fresh concerns about threats targeting prominent political families.

Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi allegedly had a blueprint layout of Ivanka Trump’s home in Florida

According to the New York Post, 32-year-old dual Iranian-Iraqi national Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi pleaded not guilty to federal terrorism charges during a June 1 court appearance in New York.

Investigators allegedly discovered a blueprint of Ivanka Trump’s Florida residence from the suspect. They also claimed the suspect made threatening online statements directed at Americans. Reports further alleged that he suggested neither security measures nor the Secret Service would be able to protect potential targets.

Former Iraqi diplomat Entifadh Qanbar reportedly claimed that Al-Saadi frequently spoke about Ivanka and allegedly viewed her as a symbolic target connected to the 2020 killing of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani. Qanbar further alleged that the suspect wanted revenge for losses he associated with that event.

Meanwhile, federal prosecutors focused on a much wider set of allegations. According to the Justice Department, Al-Saadi allegedly acted on behalf of Kata’ib Hizballah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. These are both designated as foreign terrorist organizations by the United States.

Authorities claimed he was linked to multiple planned or executed attacks across Europe. He allegedly participated in schemes involving targets in the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Prosecutors also alleged that he attempted to arrange an attack on a New York City synagogue through an individual who later turned out to be an undercover operative.

Al-Saadi reportedly denied wrongdoing during the hearing and told the court through an interpreter that he was not a criminal. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Times have been bad for Donald Trump. So bad that controversial pop group Milli Vanilli’s exit from the Great American State Fair is “not even in the top 10 most embarrassing things to happen to him” last week. This is according to Late Night host Seth Meyers. He said this on his latest show after a brief hiatus. Meyers clocked each of Trump’s recent political woes. They included the suspension of Iran-US peace talks, military exchanges, and the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Meyers, Milli Vanilli’s refusal to perform was an embarrassment of a different league. Fab Morvan, the surviving member of the Milli Vanilli duo, pulled out of the event last week, citing its political nature.

“Imagine how badly things have to be going, that the real Milli Vanilli publicly rejected you, and it’s not even in the top 10 most embarrassing things to happen to you this week,” the NBC host said in the ‘A Closer Look’ segment of his show. 

Milli Vanilli remains one of pop culture’s most famous, or infamous, symbols of public embarrassment. The duo was stripped of their Grammy award following a lip-syncing scandal.

The punch of Meyers’ joke lies here. Trump has become so unpopular that even people associated with scandals do not want anything to do with him. 

Meyers also fired shots at Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He made a “zombie Jack Hanna” comparison to mock a wild headline about the Secretary of Health and Human Services allegedly wrestling snakes.

The Great American State Fair is a multi-day national exposition starting June 25, organized by Freedom 250, a platform launched by Trump. Trump is personally slated to kick off the celebration on June 24.

Earlier, several artists and groups, including Young MC, The Commodores, Morris Day & The Time, had either withdrawn or denied ever agreeing to perform at the event. 

Trump mocked the departing artists, calling them “Third Rate.” He later wrote that a MAGA rally should replace the event with “overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain.”

Freedom 250 is a public-private partnership backed by the Trump administration. The 16-day series has been planned for the National Mall in Washington, D.C., from June 25 to July 10. Various artists were expected to perform during the fair. However, shortly after the names were revealed, a few artists backed out. The likes of Morris Day and the Time, Young MC, Martina McBride, the Commodores, and Bret Michaels declined to participate in the event. The artists claimed they were unaware of the show’s political nature.

Following this, Freedom 250 has not yet announced replacement artists. But Trump is slated to kick off the historic celebration on Wednesday, June 24. However, officials involved in the event denied that it would be political. A spokesperson told NBC News on Friday that the group “is a nonpartisan organization singularly focused on celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and bringing Americans together around this historic milestone. From the outset, our work has reflected the unifying spirit of this moment.”
