King Charles and Prince Harry finally had a reunion. The Duke of Sussex returned to the UK last week. Further, he met his father with his wife, Meghan Markle, and his kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Now, as per a source, the much-anticipated meeting didn’t live up to the hype.

Insiders say the Highgrove meeting was reportedly just family

According to Rob Shuter, Prince Harry and King Charles’ reunion didn’t really change things. The King and Queen Camilla hosted Harry, Markle, and the children at Highgrove House on Friday. “This wasn’t a surrender—it was a grandfather wanting to see his grandchildren,” one palace insider told the outlet. The insider added, “People are confusing compassion with capitulation.” However, reportedly, there was no official photograph, public embrace, balcony moment, or joint statement declaring a new start. Moreover, there was no announcement restoring Harry’s role, changes in security arrangements, or a constitutional shift.

“If Buckingham Palace wanted the world to see this as a reconciliation, there would have been a picture,” another source told the outlet. They added, “The fact there wasn’t tells you everything you need to know.” The meeting reportedly went exactly how the Palace wanted it to be, which was a private family moment between an old king, his son, and grandkids. It didn’t concern the revamping of the Sussex brand. A royal insider said, “The institution didn’t blink. Charles acted as a father and a grandfather, not as the head of the monarchy negotiating terms.”

Nothing reportedly changed for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their royal status, relationship with the institution, and commercial prospects are the same. Before the reunion, it was reported that the King made it clear to Harry to keep the meeting free from distractions and drama. An insider told Heat World, “He’s made it very clear to Harry that there cannot be any drama or any hint that this trip is being used for personal gain.” The insider continued, “If he sees any cameras or gets a whiff of troublemaking, that will be the end of things.”
