Sen. John Curtis, R-Utah, sent a letter on Monday to committee leaders Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Dick Durbin, D-Ill. He wants the panel to issue a subpoena forcing both men to answer questions under oath. Curtis seeks testimony on “their past business dealings, relationships with foreign individuals and entities, gifts or other benefits they have received, and any instances in which their relationship to the President was invoked or understood to provide value.”

The Utah senator acted after reports surfaced that Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev, who maintains ties to Vladimir Putin, funded Donald Trump Jr.’s post-wedding celebration in the Caribbean in May. Trump Jr. and his wife, Bettina, confirmed the arrangement on Instagram, describing it as “an extraordinarily generous wedding gift from a friend.”

Curtis argues the arrangement raises uncomfortable questions. “These reports raise legitimate questions about foreign access to members of a sitting president’s family and whether such relationships can create actual or perceived expectations of favorable treatment,” he said. He warned that such ties “may create expectations of a returned favor that would not be in the best interests of the American people or our allies, and could even create national security vulnerabilities.”

The senator also took his argument to X. “A toaster is a wedding gift. A private-island party paid for by a Putin-connected oligarch is something else,” he wrote. He reminded Republicans that they “nearly wore out the subpoena machine investigating Hunter Biden’s foreign relationships” and insisted, “We should not unplug it now.” Durbin endorsed the push.

A committee spokesperson confirmed receipt of Curtis’ letter but noted hearing dates are scarce through year’s end.

The two-day gathering, created with creator Jon Youshaei, focused on collaboration, creative processes, and the next generation of storytellers.

During the event, Kris pushed back on the idea that she simply funded Kylie’s business.

“You can call her a, what do they call them, Nepo Babies or whatever,” Kris said. “But it wasn’t like I was just, you know, passing out $1,000 bills and saying, oh, let’s go build a business.”

Instead, Kris said she told Kylie to use money she earned while filming Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Kylie started filming the reality show when she was just 9 years old.

“I said to her, look, you have your money from Keeping Up, and I said, if you’re going to start this business, you’re going to use your own money,” Kris explained. She then added, “And if you win, you win.”

Kris also recalled joking about Kylie’s lipstick choices. “If you run out of [lipstick], you better pick good colors; you’ll be wearing this lipstick for the rest of the day,” she said.

The comments echo Kris’ earlier defense of Kylie’s business success. In 2019, Kris called Kylie “self-made” during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning. She acknowledged that Kylie inherited a powerful platform through her family. However, she stressed that her daughter built her fortune through her own work.

Kylie also addressed the debate that year. She acknowledged that she had “a lot of help and a huge platform.” However, she said she did not inherit her money.

Meanwhile, Kylie Cosmetics launched in 2015 with three Lip Kits. The brand later expanded into Ulta. Kylie also earned money through endorsements, television, fashion, and social media.

According to the insider, William believes it would be best to resolve the couple’s status at once rather than let the confusion drag on. His goal, the source says, is a day when Harry and Meghan can no longer trade on their royal ties.

And I can say that Harry is completely fine about it,” Spencer added.
