“I’m sick of people making people’s death about them,” the 48-year-old said. “It’s all about the interaction you had with the person as opposed to celebrating the person and their life.” Co-host Loren LoRosa, however, chimed in with a different take. “I can understand what you’re saying,” she explained. “But what if [a reaction like that] is to show the character of the person that people might not always know? Because I’ve never interacted with Dolly Parton.”

In response, Charlamagne noted that he too had never met Parton, but pointed out that her generosity as a country music icon was already well-documented. “I’ve never interacted with her either, but I’m very aware of all the charity work she did, especially in and around Nashville,” he stated.

While he was critical of how some tributes were handled, Charlamagne made sure to pay his own respects to Dolly Parton. He honored her by saying, “There are stars that have their niche followings, but then there are stars that transcend every race, every demographic, every age. Dolly Parton was one of those stars.”

Following her death on Tuesday, the Jolene hitmaker’s team shared that she “departed her Earthly life” at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center with loved ones by her side. With a private service planned, her family is encouraging fans to donate to her Imagination Library free book gifting program in place of flowers.

Their lawyers stated that the brothers carefully crafted a lavish persona. New legal filings show the brothers allegedly rented, leased, or exaggerated many of their luxury items to build their business brand.

Attorneys for Andrew and Tristan Tate spoke to Forbes about their clients’ social media presence. They claimed the brothers intentionally portrayed themselves as “uberwealthy” online. The attorneys said the pair used the image to attract attention and sell money-making courses. 

Defense attorneys argue in the filings that the brothers never intended the public to take their claims of unlimited wealth, cryptocurrency holdings, and luxury items literally. Instead, their lawyers described the online content as a performance designed to generate engagement and income.

“The outrageousness of the posts by them and about them is the point,” the attorneys reportedly wrote in court filings. “The more hyperbolic and outlandish the post, the more likely it will generate views and likes.”

Andrew built his brand around a viral catchphrase: “What color is your Bugatti?” However, the lawsuit revealed a major secret about his iconic Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport. Documents show Andrew never personally owned the luxury vehicle. Lawyers said the car was either rented or leased through a company.

The filings also questioned widespread assumptions about the brothers’ luxury watch collection. Attorneys argued that online estimates of its value were speculative. They didn’t prove Andrew personally owned the high-end watches he was often seen wearing.

Defense attorneys similarly presented the brothers’ frequent appearances on luxury yachts as just another part of their carefully curated image. One vessel that attracted significant attention was the Obsidian Blade superyacht, which became closely associated with their social media content.

According to the legal team, projecting immense wealth was central to promoting businesses that promised to teach men how to make money. These reportedly included subscription-based financial courses and programs focused on wealth-building strategies.

Andrew and Tristan continue to face multiple criminal and civil legal proceedings across several countries. Their active cases span the U.K., Romania, and the U.S. These legal filings represent the latest developments in their ongoing international litigation. The brothers have reportedly denied the allegations against them.

Jimmy Kimmel isn’t packing up his desk just yet, but retirement has clearly entered the conversation. The longtime late-night host recently opened up about what walking away could look like, admitting he sometimes wonders how his younger self would react to that decision.

Jimmy Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, who also serves as an executive producer on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, tackled the subject during their appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. Kimmel acknowledged that he has watched other performers leave television, only to return later in a diminished version of their former careers.

That possibility makes him wonder whether he could face the same fate. “I always look at that and go, Oh, is that going to be me?” Kimmel said, reflecting on performers who announce retirement before eventually coming back.

There is another voice in his head, too: his 25-year-old self. Kimmel said that a younger version of him probably would have struggled to understand why anyone would willingly give up a job in television. Still, he does not view retirement as an all-or-nothing proposition. “It depends on what you mean by retirement,” he explained, adding that he would never completely stop working.

The timing matters. Kimmel signed a one-year extension with Disney in December, leaving his current agreement in place through May 2027. He previously spent years wrestling with the question of whether to continue, including a 2021 conversation with Howard Stern in which he described himself as “vacillating” before eventually agreeing to a three-year deal in 2022 (via Deadline).

McNearney appears ready for either outcome. She said she would happily finish the show on a high note, but she also believes Kimmel’s voice remains important and wants him to continue while he feels motivated.

Jimmy Kimmel has spent decades building that voice. He launched Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2003 and has earned multiple Emmy Awards during a career spanning late-night television, comedy, and major awards-show hosting duties.

In the days since the announcement last Wednesday, the royal family has presented a united front at Balmoral. That said, according to a source who spoke to Vanity Fair, the Waleses are reportedly “very concerned” about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s upcoming return to the U.K.

“William is very concerned that Harry and Meghan will want to try and implement the ‘half in, half out’ model Queen Elizabeth vetoed at the Sandringham Summit [in 2020],” the royal insider said. “They are wary about the whole move back to Britain. [King] Charles is happy to see Harry come home, but for William, the breakdown of trust is a key issue,” they added.
