Every Time Kyle Richards Was a Bad Friend on RHOBH

(Photo by: Charles Sykes/Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images)

Kyle Richards is a known name on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Each season, Kyle talks about her close friendships with her co-stars. Every year though, one common takeaway has existed. Basically, if Kyle says that you and she are tight, are you really though?

Perhaps Kyle’s behaviors are intentional. Maybe she’s just creating storylines. Or, more likely, Kyle isn’t all that self-aware, and she doesn’t realize how her shady comments and actions have made others feel. Either way, Kyle’s interactions with her loved ones haven’t always been great, so let’s review the times that Kyle has treated her close friends poorly on RHOBH.

Kyle Shaded LVP Early On

When Kyle and Lisa Vanderpump were introduced in Season 1, Kyle claimed that she and Lisa were very close. Then, at their first reunion, Kyle decided to completely blindside her bestie. Here, Kyle called Lisa “calculated.” She then went one step further, saying that their friendship was like “playing chess with Bobby Fischer.”

Lisa was obviously hurt by Kyle’s words, so she chose to distance herself from Kyle in Season 2. Due to Lisa’s distancing, Kyle began slamming her friend via her confessionals. She also gossiped about Lisa out of frustration, as Lisa’s Season 1 grudge was too strong for her liking. Even still, Kyle wanted to present well, so she headed over to Lisa’s mansion in Season 2.

Here, Lisa asked Kyle to apologize, but Kyle refused, saying “Don’t tell me what to say.” Kyle didn’t care that her words had hurt LVP. It was sad to watch Kyle turn this narrative around on Lisa, not taking any accountability for hurting someone’s feelings. Also, if someone were truly your close friend, you wouldn’t have to ask them to apologize, they’d do so instinctively.

Kyle “Allegedly” Schemed To Take LVP Down, Twice

JOYCE GIRAUD/Instagram

In Season 4, Joyce Giraud alerted Lisa to an alleged storyline that was in the works. In this, Joyce confessed that one of their costars wanted to take Lisa down. Joyce then implied that Kyle was the housewife who was allegedly plotting this coup. Basically, this narrative saw members of this cast accusing Lisa, without evidence, of selling stories to the press.

Likewise, Joyce also claimed that Kyle had warned her about Lisa prior to the start of filming. “Kyle kept trying to talk bad about Lisa on my season,” she shared with Daily Mail. Unlike Kyle, Joyce was a true close friend, as her response of “I kept saying, I don’t see it,” proved.

In Season 9, we have another contrived storyline found in Puppygate. This one hurts our brains so we’ll keep it short. Basically, Lisa was once again accused by the annoying Fox Force Five of leaking stories to the press. As this storyline involved an innocent pup, and Lisa’s business, Lisa took a lie detector test on-air to help clear her name.

Even still, Kyle once again went to Lisa’s home, just to let her know that she and the rest of their cast believed her to be a narc. Insert Ken Todd loudly kicking Kyle out of their home with his now iconic “Goodbye Kyle” line. Tragically, Lisa was also dealing with the fallout from her brother’s death by suicide this season, so what she really needed that day in her kitchen was support, not this stupid storyline. This once close friendship officially bit the dust at this point.

Kyle Questioned Sutton’s Miscarriage

In Season 12, Diana Jenkins brought up her recent pregnancy loss. This caused Sutton Stracke to open up about her own painful miscarriages. Even though Diana wasn’t a receptive audience, Sutton still wanted her not to feel alone in her grief.

“I’m so sorry that you lost your baby. I’m just trying to reach out to you because I understand this in a way. I’ve lost two babies,” Sutton said to Diana. Sweet, right? Not for Kyle.

Kyle instead pushed Sutton’s shoulder back, so that Sutton would be facing her instead. She then questioned Sutton’s claims, which was vile. “I love you, but this feels like bullsh*t,” Kyle said, as Diana laughed. Naturally, Sutton became emotional, but instead of offering her close friend comfort, Kyle put her hands on Sutton, trying to make her cease speaking.

“She lost a baby. You did not,” Kyle said. In her confessional, Sutton expressed that Kyle had broken her heart, and disappointed her in their friendship.

Kyle Laughed When Erika Cursed at Garcelle’s Son

In Season 12, a drunken Erika Jayne faced major backlash from the fans after cursing at Garcelle Beauvais’ 14-year-old son Jax. In a later scene, a sober Kyle and Dorit Kemsley shared a laugh with their husbands over this incident. While laughing, Kyle stated that it was nice to see this “more relaxed side” of Erika. Hey Kyle, a child was cursed at on national television, so here, you picked the wrong close friend to side with.

Thankfully, both Kyle and Erika later apologized.

Kyle Forgets Key Details and Mocks Her Friends

@nosmokenomore/Twitter

Kyle only seems to only remember narratives that pertain to self. You see, prior to Season 8, LVP had told the ladies a lot about her Nanny Kay. But during Season 8’s cast trip to Berlin, Kyle interrupted one of Lisa’s stories to ask “Who’s Nanny Kay?” Even Erika, who wasn’t close with LVP, knew who Nanny Kay was.

Something similar happened during Season 13. Here, the cast traveled to Barcelona with a grieving Sutton, who needed to spread her friend Merce’s ashes while in Spain. In one emotional scene, Kyle comforted Sutton on her friend’s passing. But in the next, Kyle poked fun at her supposed friend’s grief.

In a confessional, Kyle told the camera’s “I’ve never heard Merce’s name before this trip, but hey if [Sutton] wants to use this as an excuse to come to Spain and toss his ashes out and give us some flowers…”

Hopefully moving forward, Kyle can be as good of a friend behind someones back as she is in front of their person.

Why Sister Wives Deserves Another Season

Season 18 of Sister Wives ended as one thought it would, with Kody Brown crying in a corner about how he has been wounded as almost every spouse took away his dream of a polygamous lifestyle. In all reality, fans have been watching for years as the father of 18 had a knack for pushing away everyone who ever loved him. Over time, Kody became quite the pill, with the latest season highlighting everything that was wrong with the Brown family.

Now, just because it was mostly a season of Kody throwing tantrums and Robyn Brown breaking down about the lack of a porch swing, that doesn’t mean TLC fans don’t want another season. On the contrary, we want to see just how low rock bottom looks for Kody. So here is why I believe Sister Wives deserves at least one more season. Not only do I need an update about Coyote Pass, but I also want to see Janelle Brown curse the patriarch out again. Bare with me, guys!

What Could Season 19 Storyline Be?

Janelle Brown/Instagram

Season 18 left off with all three of Kody’s first wives calling it quits on their legal and spiritual marriages to Kody. Sadly, no amount of homemade Rice Krispie treats could save them. I’d love to see the storyline pick back up with Meri Brown, Janelle, and Christine Brown all tending to their own gardens in their respective locations.

I’d love to see each woman answering the question, “So, how has life been now that you’ve left Kody?” Each sister wife would give their own responses: Meri is still Kody’s champion, Janelle is a bit coy, and Christine is downright petty.

The main crux of the storyline could really be how each of the women is moving on and making their own lives. This could include how their older children are adjusting and if they have smoothed over the child/parent relationship. I can assure you that, as of now, they have not. Technically, we don’t even need Kody for Season 19. And it would save on the Kleenex budget.

Fans Want To See David and Kody Interact

Christine Brown/Instagram

We already know Kody is no fan of David Woolley, Christine’s new man. The father of 18 felt his ex shouldn’t have been living under the same roof without their marriage vows. Christine and David have developed a habit of posting snippy social media updates targeting Kody. One post was about loving to share nachos, which Kody infamously noted made him feel nauseous, while another was holding Skittles and beer. It was a dig at the time when Kody said that marriage “wasn’t always Skittles and beer.”

Christine hinted to People that Season 19 is already in the works and that fans will be seeing a lot more of David on their small screens. Christine gushed “People are going to be seeing a lot with the two of us. I’m really excited for everybody to meet David more because he’s really genuine.” There have already been claims that the two men do not like one another, often exchanging heated words, so I wouldn’t mind a middle-aged rumble.

Christine Needs A Bit Of Redemption

Christine Brown/Instagram

Now, I do like Christine, but I truly think she overstepped at times, especially in the series when she bad-mouthed Kody. Not that he is an angel by any means, but show some compassion, lady. She got to move on to greener pastures, and poor Kody is stuck with Sobbin’ Robyn.

Christine needed to take the high road, and instead, fans watched her mock Kody’s feelings and talk badly behind his back. Watching Christine be spiteful was funny for a second, but after episode three, it grew tiresome. The mother of six had moved back to Utah and started a new life, so I don’t understand why she felt the need to keep bringing Kody back up.

I don’t believe TLC is ready to give up on Sister Wives and will most likely renew for another season. Previously, Kody has had a lot of pull when it came to filming the series, but I truly believe Season 19 will show the ex-wives club finally put in charge.

Vicki Gunvalson’s Most Problematic Controversies

Vicki Gunvalson

The OG of the OC, Vicki Gunvalson, has lost her footing along the way, making herself quite the villain. After years of spearheading the Real Housewives of Orange County, there was more than one instance where her attitude was extremely questionable. While I love some angry family van yelling, I can’t get behind the times when Vicki just came across as selfish and uneducated.

The Illinois native has dug herself into a hole in recent years as she felt no shame in sharing fake news, false information, and strong opinions. After being let go from the show that “she made,” Vicki has made sure to really act as if she pooped rainbows, always making sure that everyone knew that show would fail without her.

Not surprisingly, the series has done just fine without the mean girl. However, some of her bad behavior hasn’t been forgotten. Am I the only one who feels Vicki shouldn’t ever be allowed back at Bravo? I bet the producers she’s pushed agree with me.

Vicki Is Rude to Bravolebs

Bravo/YouTube

Vicki often likes to remind people that most of the other Housewives wouldn’t be on the map unless it were for her. It’s true she had a helping hand in making the first Bravo franchise extremely popular. However, she isn’t King Midas and doesn’t have the touch. In recent years, some Bravo personalities have started calling Vicki out. Ashley Darby said Vicki was the “rudest” person she had ever encountered. The RHOP star shared that she and Vicki “did a little thing together at Bravo headquarters, and she was so dismissive of me. We were doing an interview together, and she got up and walked out of the room.”

Kenya Moore had her own encounters with Vicki. “Vicki is a bully, you know, and she bullied like a whole Housewife cast years ago,” Kenya told Us Weekly. “Every time I see her, she’s just not a pleasant person.” Like it or not, Vicki has a clear pattern when she engages with some housewives, which isn’t nice.

Beauty Is in the Eye of the Beholder

Vicki Gunvalson/Twitter

When the worldwide pandemic was starting out, Vicki was one of the Bravolebs who chose to act like an ostrich. She stuffed her head into the sand and pretended her world wasn’t going to change. In March 2020, California had some of the strictest rules in the country. However, the OC resident felt she was above them.

After only one month of COVID-19, Vicki tweeted a message to Governor Gavin Newsom. “Let’s get America who is healthy back to work,” she wrote. “We need hairdressers, nail techs, small businesses, and restaurants to start reopening May 1st. Please?”

Critics slammed Vicki for being tone-deaf as she begged for nonessential workers to put their lives on the line just in the name of her beauty regime. It was gross to learn that Vicki was ready to whoop it up with Botox and acrylic nails while others died around her. But she also still hangs out with housewives like Kelly Dodd, so birds of feather.

Vicki Is Great at Scaremongering

Peacock/YouTube

After over a year of sheltering in place, the CDC approved COVID-19 vaccines, proving they were safe and would help against the variants. However, Vicki often felt she knew better than the qualified medical professionals. During the Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, Vicki made some pretty heartless comments, including, “There has to be an end to this booster, this, this, this … don’t even get me started. It’s a rabbit hole I will go down. Follow the money, baby, follow the money!” When asked if she was an anti-vaxxer, Vicki said, “Yeah.” The fight worsened with Vicki implying that people would die from receiving the vaccine.

Vicki’s ignorance cast her in dark light, with even her son poking fun at her. When getting his first jab, Michael Wolfsmith shared that his mom was not thrilled he had chosen to get vaccinated, writing it “broke her heart.” Michael went on to share that he didn’t feel his mother was that smart after a fan asked about her intelligence, noting, “No, she has terrible sources of information. ‘Guns, American flags, and invisible sky fairies’—the All-American Trifecta!”

There have been plenty left disappointed by Vicki. Whether you are an LA camera operator, a loyal Bravo fan, or a nonessential worker, Vicki has shown her true colors, and they are not pretty. I mean, even the Tres Amigas have given up on her. At least for now, we don’t have to watch her fail to keep a man or prattle on about issues we don’t give a damn about. Sayonara, Vic!
