Dancing With the Stars has undergone many changes in its last few seasons. Tom Bergeron, who had been the host of DWTS since it’s start in 2005, was fired from the show after Season 28. His co-host, Erin Andrews, was also axed. Many longtime viewers were angry about the duo’s departure.
Tom relied on his trade-mark wit when he announced the news. He tweeted, “Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me. It’s been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career.” Tom continued, “I’m grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?”
In 2020, DWTS executive producer Andrew Llinares explained why he replaced Tom and Erin with Tyra Banks. Andrew stated, “Any show like this that has been on for many, many seasons needs to continue to evolve. So, I think changing that host is all about evolution.”
When the producer left the show, a fan shared a tweet detailing Andrew’s exit, and asked Tom for his “thoughts” on the subject. Tom tweeted, “Karma’s a b—” with a winky face emoji. I love it when Tom is shady!
Now Tyra will have some ballroom back-up, and he is no stranger to DWTS fans. Alfonso Ribeiro, who starred on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, will be hosting with Tyra for Season 31.
In 2014, Alfonso took home the glittering mirror ball trophy with pro partner Witney Carson. Alfonso even briefly filled in for Tom as host of DWTS. When Tom left his hosting gig at America’s Funniest Home Videos, Alfonso took over.
According to People, Tom congratulated Alfonso on Instagram. “Now, getting Conrad Green back as DWTS showrunner is only ONE of their smartest decisions,” Tom captioned two photos with Alfonso. “Here’s the other one. Congratulations, buddy!” he added with a clapping hands emoji. Erin chimed in, posting in the comments, “I agree on both.”
Alfonso joined the convo, writing, “I just hope I can make you proud.” Tom replied, “I have no doubt,” with a winky face and thumbs up emoji. Tom is such a class act.
Alfonso is thrilled about his new job. “For me to be asked now to co-host with Tyra and be part of the great crew and dancers and friends … to be able to be on stage with them and to be part of that family again, is quite special for me,” Alfonso said in a previous statement to People. “I mean, these dancers are friends of mine at this point now.” He added, “My goal is to bring back a sense of the happy and the fun, and the family atmosphere, that this show has always felt like for me.” Amen, Alfonso!
Tyra and Alfonso have known each other for years. “We’ve known each other since junior high school. We go back a long ways, and her first acting job was Fresh Prince,” he explained. “I think it’s going to be nice for us to work together again, and to bring the fun out and have some fun on that stage.”
Tyra was catching flack for making the show about her and her over-the-top fashion. Previous DWTS co-host Brooke Burke called her “a diva.” Pairing Tyra with Alfonso seems like a great idea.
The new season of DWTS will drop on Disney+ this fall, instead of ABC.

This news will hardly be a surprise to Southern Charm viewers. Shep Rose has made it very clear over the years that he has no desire or intention to settle down. The most domesticated we’ve seen him is being a doggie dad to little Craig.
Taylor Ann Green managed to hold him down the past two years, but the cracks have been showing on the latest season of Southern Charm. She’s looking for some return on her investment, a.k.a a commitment, and has expressed her desire to have children.
So, without revelation, People reported that Shep and Taylor have recently parted ways. Quoted sources point to Shep’s continued refusal to commit as the reason. “Shep has a real issue with monogamy and refused to commit to Taylor, telling her that he doesn’t want to be with just one person and change his lifestyle,”the source said.
Another source claimed that, though devastated, Taylor is putting the break up into perspective. “She’s incredibly hurt, but she knows that she deserves a guy who will fight for her, not one who is so selfish,” the source commented. “He’ll regret this.”
Taylor and Shep could not be reached for comment, but viewers of Southern Charm have heard their perspectives already. It’s reality TV after all. The discontent went as far back as the Season 7 reunion when Shep admitted, “there was some text messages” with another woman who he described as, “an old flame.” Then there was a physical indiscretion, that Taylor also accepted at the time. The Average Expectations author admitted, “I kissed a girl in a stairwell, but that’s all it was.”
On Season 8, the foreshadowing continued with a pregnancy “scare.” The contrast in reactions between the duo was very telling. While Taylor mourned, Shep celebrated that he would indeed not be a father.
At the time, Shep credited Taylor for complementing his life as “a boisterous, passionate, idiotic human being”. He said, “Taylor has been a great help as far as pulling me by the collar when I need to be pulled by the collar.”
Commenting on the struggles he and Taylor will have during Season 8, Shep explained, “Honestly, the show can be a real big microscope. As much as it can be embarrassing…it also forces you to really look at yourself. I think I’ve come a long way. I’m basically an old man now, I guess. I’m coming to grips with that.”
Shep gave conflicting messages while promoting his dating spinoff, Relationshep, in 2017. At the time, he was rejecting the idea of “lifelong bachelorhood” enjoyed by the likes of costar Whitney Sudler-Smith.
“I’m not saying they’re not happy, and I think the world of them both, but I don’t want to be in their shoes when I’m their age,” Shep said at the time.
“I like to meet girls and have a good time, but my ladies man reputation sort of got exasperated,” he added. “I never aspired to be like Warren Beatty or anything. I don’t have a silver tongue, I’m not trying to make promises I can’t meet. I’m always looking for someone who’s unbelievable to blow my hair back, and I will happily forsake others if and when I find her.”
It’s worth noting that Shep puts the onus on his partner to inspire commitment out of him. Perhaps Taylor hoped she would be that girl. But one can only speculate. My question is, will Taylor be kept on Southern Charm now that she is not a “girlfriend?”

On the first Big Brother 24 eviction episode, host Julie Chen announced that a new twist would enter the game on Thursday. It would all deal with Big Brother besties and the ongoing festival theme. We all assumed that this meant the Big Brother 24 houseguests would be paired up together for at least a week.
This most likely meant that they would act as a pair all week. This likely meant that we would have two players acting as one Head of Household this week. We also assumed that the nominees would be bestie pairs instead of individuals.
With Thursday’s Big Brother 24 eviction episode being delayed until Sunday, we wouldn’t get to see this twist play out until the Sunday episode. However, the Big Brother 24 Live Feeds gave us a lot more insight into what the “Festie Bestie” twist entails and which houseguests are paired together.
The pairs are:
Brittany Hoopes and Michael Bruner
Jasmine Davis and Matt Turner
Kyle Capenar and Daniel Durston
Ameerah Jones and Terrance Higgins
Indy Santos and Alyssa Snider
Nicole Layog and Taylor Hales
Joseph Addin and Monte Taylor
From what we heard on the feeds, the besties act as one, as suspected. Because Turner is the Head of Household, Jasmine will also have some influence on his nominations. One pair of besties will be on the block together. The houseguests haven’t been told when the twist ends. They believe it will last no more than three weeks. The duos also play as one for the Veto, meaning that if one of them wins it, they both come off the block. The duos also compete in Veto together. That means whoever is selected to play the Veto, their partner automatically has to play.

Big Brother 24 is turning into the battle of the sexes. It’s the strong female players against the strong male ones. Right now the Big Brother 24 house is equally divided between the women and the men. There are seven women left and seven men left.
Each side wants to get the numbers in their favor by taking out someone of the opposite gender. Whether a male player or a female player may become the target depends on who won Head of Household. However, it’s not that simple.
Some of the men are working with the women and some of the female houseguests are in more danger than the male houseguests. Brittany Hoopes in particular should be quite worried this week. Her sporadic, some would say “messy” gameplay, has grown her target.
Michael Bruner, Brittany, Nicole Layog, Daniel Durston, and Terrance Higgins are basically riding in the middle of the house. However, all of them are more loyal to the women in the house. If Daniel or Terrance won HOH, they’ll likely try to keep the peace by nominating the players that would cause the least waves, no matter what gender.
Nicole, Brittany, and Michael would likely take a stance by targeting the men, but it wouldn’t be the strongest male players–at least not as initial nominees. Almost all of the women would place their target on Matt Turner, with the potential of backdooring Monte Taylor or Joseph Abdin. Monte, Joseph, and Turner were the players who needed the Head of Household the most.
Taylor Hale also really needed the HOH to reposition herself even more in the game.
