Real Housewives of London: Why Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu Would Be a Perfect Housewife

Just a few days after the announcement of Hayu’s new original series Real Housewives of London, casting rumors began to swirl. So far, Fran Cutler seemed to confirm she’s one of the newest Real Housewives. Meanwhile, there’s another rumored name especially exciting to reality TV fans on both sides of the pond. While she’s probably best known stateside for The Traitors Season 2, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu first rose to fame on Season 8 of Love Island UK. She became one of the most popular contestants of all time- and this author’s personal favorite.

After winning Love Island, Ekin-Su skyrocketed to 4 million Instagram followers, graced magazine covers, launched a successful line with B Perfect Cosmetics, and wrote a memoir. Her love life gets lots of tabloid attention. Aside from the rocky relationship with Love Island co-winner Davide Sanclimenti, she allegedly hooked up with former Bachelor Peter Weber. She’s hilarious, dramatic, gorgeous, fashionable, and completely unpredictable. In other words, Ekin-Su is perfect Real Housewives material.

Ekin-Su is a one-of-a-kind TV personality

There’s never been anyone quite like Ekin-Su on Love Island UK. To quote her introduction on The Traitors: “I’m very quirky, very weird, but I’m also very relatable, and people love that about me.” As soon she entered the villa, Ekin secured her place in the Love Island bombshell hall of fame. She had the biggest impact on the show since Maura Higgins (who would also make a great Real Housewife).

Love Island conversations can get stale and repetitive. There are lots of “Where’s your head at?” questions or “Would you like to get to know someone else?” chats that feel producer-prompted. That was never the case when Ekin was on screen. While flirting with one contestant, she sang the SpongeBob Squarepants theme song in its entirety. When another asked about their relationship status, she changed the subject to show off her Voldemort impression.

Ekin also won over viewers as a total girl’s girl. Yes, she fought with the ladies, but she also gave them pep talks and cuddled with them in bed, joking that she felt like their grandma. In fact, for the annual talent show, she gave a speech complimenting all of her fellow girls. There’s a reason that, throughout the season, fans jokingly compared her to Princess Diana.

Ekin-Su would bring the chaos Real Housewives of London needs

There was one particular moment when Ekin cemented herself into the Love Island history books. Frustrated by Davide’s lack of affection, she crawled onto the villa terrace to sneak a smooch with a new contestant. Since then, other Love Island contestants have attempted their own viral terrace moments. But nothing comes close. Ekin never had to try to be chaotic- it just came naturally. She always kept co-stars on their toes.

After winning Love Island, Ekin joined Dancing on Ice. When her naughty routine got backlash, she dressed as Maria von Trapp the following week. Her entertaining antics got so much attention, they were discussed on programs like The Graham Norton Show.

Even in her short-lived and difficult stint on Celebrity Big Brother, Ekin didn’t hold back. Memorably, she asked the question all of the UK was wondering at the time: “Where’s Kate [Middleton]?” For a brief moment, someone changed her Wikipedia page to call her an investigative journalist.

Ekin-Su could learn the ropes from her iconic Real Housewives pals

After co-starring in The Traitors, Ekin-Su came away with two Real Housewives as new friends. When Phaedra Parks uttered the iconic “Oh Lord Jesus not Ekin-Su,” she wasn’t just vamping. After their time in the Scottish Castle, Ekin and Phaedra became very close. Phaedra’s success on The Traitors undoubtedly lead to her Real Housewives return. Could Ekin’s lead to a Housewives debut?

Ekin also appeared alongside Season 2 co-star Tamra Judge on Watch What Happens Live. Love her or hate her, Tamra is a game-changer Real Housewife. She even gave us the best Real Housewives moment ever. Both Tamra and Phaedra frequently hype up Ekin on social media, and she returns the favor.

Ekin-Su has plenty of reality TV experience already. Not to mention, her time acting on Turkish soap operas. But if the Real Housewives of London rumors are true, it couldn’t hurt to get some tips from these two legends. Alongside Tamra, she already nailed her first Watch What Happens Live appearance. Addressing her much-discussed love life, Ekin perfectly fanned the speculation flames and threw shade at her ex. Hopefully, it was the first of many WWHL guest spots to come.

Dramatic Real Housewives Mexico Cast Trips That Didn’t Work Out

Sometimes, what makes a good Real Housewives season is their cast trip. Over the years, multiple franchises have frequented Mexico. With its crystal blue waters, tequila, and ideal fiesta setting, the women usually have a great time. But naturally, like the country’s yearly hurricanes, the women often have a few significant fights. Below is a list of times the perfect Mexican vacation didn’t work out. 

Heather Dubrow is tired of the mean girls

Viewers were psyched to see Heather Dubrow finally return to the Real Housewives of Orange County. She had been gone for a few seasons but had decided to make her comeback. But after planning a trip to Mexico and almost leaving Noella Bergener blacklisted, fans started to sing a different tune. During Season 16, Heather and Terry Dubrow had been discussing buying a vacation home in Cabo. While the temperature was in the 100s, tensions rose among the women. During her confessional, Heather admitted “The thing about Noella is, I don’t dislike her. It’s just that every time I sort of try to start with her, something goes off.” In the end, Heather regrets inviting the newbie, who refuses to eat the fancy food and brings up rumors about Emily Simpson. 

Bethenny Frankel will never plan another girls trip

Real Housewives of New York Season 9 trip to Mexico is an unsung masterpiece. I mean, where do I even start? Firstly, Ramona Singer arrived with what looked like a Freddy Krueger face peel. Then, in hopes of not letting Ramona get the best room, Bethenny Frankel introduced a number system. However, Tinsley Mortimer pulled number one and gave her room to the host as a thank you.

This move caused a massive fight since Sonja Morgan felt the room should have been given to her after allowing Tins to stay for free in the famed townhouse. But perhaps the best part was Bethenny’s planned dinner. Dorinda Medley was just too exhausted to show her face, and Luann de Lesseps showed up wasted. The countess then proceeded to fall into a bush. After finding the strength to get up, she then tripped off the step, leaving Ramona to note, “You should have gone this way.”    

Kenya Moore couldn’t help herself when it came to flirting

The Real Housewives of Atlanta franchise traveled to Riviera Maya in hopes of having a drama-free vacation. But who knew a jungle could be so scary? During their excursion, the ladies were confronted by a snake “as big as a building,” and Phaedra Parks was startled by a monkey. The entire trip showed some sexual tension between Apollo Nida and Kenya Moore. It all came to a head when Apollo and Kenya were caught having a midnight swim. However, the most surprising fight occurred between Gregg Leakes and Peter Thomas. The men became embroiled after defending their wives and soon were belly to belly to duke it out. Dare I say there was too much rum punch that night?   

RHONJ mudslinging in Mexico

The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s cast trip to Mexico was an all-out brawl. Margaret Josephs and Danielle Staub couldn’t find common ground and allowed their issues to boil over. Their fight ended with Marge throwing a full glass of wine in her frenemy’s face. From there, the trip only got worse. While Melissa Gorga tried to calm tensions, newbie Jennifer Aydin broke a glass and pointed it at Missy. But the mother of three wasn’t about to deal with that move, telling Jen, “You’ve got the wrong f*cking girl, I’m telling you that.” This trip showed how low Jen could go in her battles as she mocked Marge and her mother for having an affair. 

The RHOBH ladies have resorted to madness

Season 12 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills had a lot to unpack. The trip to Mexico was supposed to be healing for everyone. Lisa Rinna was still processing the loss of her mother. The island retreat seemed to go well until a heated dinner. Crystal Kung Minkoff and Sutton Stracke exchanged words, and Diana Jenkins jumped in for backup. Diana claimed that Sutton had once claimed she hated Crystal, which the fashionista denied. Sutton was left so upset she excused herself from the table to go and cry it out. After all these failed Mexico getaways, I think the Real Housewives should try another tropical destination for their vacations.
