Southern Charm Star Kathryn Dennis Addresses Professional Rumors
Since picking herself up and dusting herself off last season on Southern Charm, Kathryn Dennis has made some big changes, including working outside of Bravo for Gwynn’s department store in Mt. Pleasant, SC, particularly while not shooting or promoting Southern Charm. But a rumor circulated earlier this year that Kathryn was not professional in her position at Gwynn’s and left the management in the lurch, not showing up for work.
Kathryn has often mentioned on her Instagram page how much she likes fashion, and is looking to balance that kind of work with her time on Southern Charm. But both Kathryn and Gwynn’s Vice President, Madison Simon are telling a different story, calling the rumors ridiculous.
From the days before she first appeared on Southern Charm, Kathryn Dennis modeled and was always interested in fashion and fashion merchandising, which is what drew Kathryn and Madison Simon of Gwynn’s together initially. Madison says that last year, Kathryn expressed interest in working with her and for Gwynn’s, and it’s been a great match.
“I have been styling Kathryn for a couple of years now at Gwynn’s and recognized her passion and appreciation for fashion early on. When she expressed interest in working for us at Gwynn’s, we decided to explore further within our department store and see where we could place her.”
The Southern Charm star said it was exciting getting to observe the various facets of retail.
“I had never worked retail, so it was interested in seeing all of the behind the scenes aspects of a successful department store like Gwynn’s,” says Kathryn Dennis.
Kathryn explains it is the opposite of being on Southern Charm because the focus is on the clothing and the customer. Dennis says that she worked the floor, shadowed Madison, and practiced styling by doing trials.
“She would give me a sample customer, for example, a woman in her forties who is looking for a statement dress for a special event, and I would select outfits that I thought would be a good match.”
But as much as she enjoyed working on the floor at Gwynn’s Kathryn says she particularly likes style photo shoots for print work and commercials.
“My favorite thing so far was working on the holiday commercial, and helping to add personality to images for social media.”
Both Kathryn Dennis and Madison Simon from Gwynn’s have been happy with their continuing professional relationship, so imagine their surprise when some bloggers were reporting that the two had parted company.
“I have no clue what that was all about,” says Kathryn. “Maybe someone stopped into the store and thought I’d be on the sales floor from 9-5.”
Madison explains that both she and Kathryn knew from the beginning that a conventional schedule wouldn’t work due to Kathryn’s Southern Charm obligations.
“Obviously Kathryn’s schedule is a bit unpredictable being a mother of two and on a reality show, so we decided against a traditional 9-5 position. We have worked with her on a project specific basis and she has made great contributions.”
Kathryn Dennis says that one of the biggest perks of the job came a few weeks ago when she got to attend her first Charleston Fashion Week event, for which Madison dressed her.
“It was an honor to be there representing Gwynn’s.”
Madison says that Kathryn was able to be in the Gwynn’s VIP tent and at the runway show. She explains that they always enjoy working together.
“We have fun and that’s always the case!”

Luann de Lesseps Denies Wearing Black Face For Diana Ross Costume; Thinks Carole Radziwill Should Have Reached Out About Her Divorce
As much as I adore every woman in the Real Housewives of New York cast, there’s no way that anyone other than Luann de Lesseps could have joined Andy Cohen in the Bravo clubhouse for the first Watch What Happens Live episode following the Season 10 premiere.
Her Season 10 tagline really says it all: “The most interesting people make the best headlines.” And if we are judging based on those parameters, Luann is the most interesting cast member going into this season. We will see a post-divorce Luann dealing with the Tom D’Agostino breakup, the aftermath of her arrest, life after rehab, her rise from the ashes to cabaret stardom. This show has a great cast, but just focusing on Luann alone, it’s clear she’s givingthe fandom A LOT this season.
Unfortunately, Season 10 didn’t start out on the best note for the (former) Countess. A lot of people took issue with Luann’s Diana Ross Halloween costume and accused her of doing black face. Luann admitted, “I’m horrified meaning I never meant to hurt anybody’s feelings. I love Diana Ross. I totally respect Diana Ross, you know? It was really kind of a tribute to her, you know? It was Halloween.”
Andy pointed out, “The issue was altering the color of your skin.” Lu insisted, “I didn’t. I put bronzer on that I wear normally.” She maintained that she was “tan like right now.” She added, “So I didn’t add anything to or ever dream of doing a black face ever. So I’m very sorry to everyone out there if I offended anyone.” Luann shared, “It was Halloween. I respect Diana Ross and I think she’s fabulous. It was really my little tribute to her.”
Then Andy asked Luann to give some updates on her life. She revealed, “I found an apartment in the city, which I love. I got a penthouse all by myself.” The former Mrs. D’Agostino shared, “I am not dating”- something I support for now. Single Lu is everything. Then again, engaged Lu and married Lu also thoroughly entertained me, so ultimately I’m OK with whatever she decides. Not that I actually know her, but she is a close friend in my mind and I fully support her antics…for the most part.
Andy told Luann, “The audience feels like you owe the women an apology.” She disagreed and said, “That’s interesting. I feel like I suffered enough.” She definitely did suffer. She was cheated on, humiliated, and lied to, but she also ignored her friends’ warnings and accused them of being jealous in response. I’m always down to support Lu, but a little “I’m sorry” goes a long way.
Andy asked a big question: “Would you ever get married again?” Luann gave me some hope when she said, “I mean, never say never.”
A caller asked Luann to name her rock bottom of the season (which is fairly obvious) and her biggest triumph. Initially, Luann ignored the “rock bottom” part of the question and shared, “My biggest triumph was getting on stage after all that happened to me and watching my children in the audience and my mother looking at me like ‘what?'” As far as rock bottom goes, Luann confessed, “Landing in jail. That was awful.”
Andy had to know, “When you look at that mugshot compared to Tinsley [Mortimer], what do you think?” Luann didn’t really know how to answer that and after a momentary pause, she just went with, “I think mine is maybe, a little…. sharper.”
A fan called in and asked, “If you ever decide to get married again and your girlfriends try to tell you negativity about your husband, would you listen to them this time?” Get ready for this one. Luann actually said, “Absolutely.” Ladies and gentlemen- progress has been made.
Another viewer submitted this question: “Why do you feel Carole [Radziwill] should have reached out to you? You guys weren’t that close.” They really weren’t. Plus, Luann didn’t reach out to Carole about her own breakup with Adam Kenworthy. Luann attempted to explain explained, “Well, I think if, you know, a friend of yours goes through a very public divorce, like I did, and then very public embarrassment like I did, I think that’s a reason to reach out and say ‘I’m sorry for what happened to you.'” In all honesty, they both should have reached out, they both should apologize, and they should both take this as a lesson for the future.

Exclusive – Survivor: Ghost Island’s Bradley Kleihege: “There Was A Method To My Madness”
They say that Survivor is a game of numbers, but if it were that simple it would be played on paper. What it is, is the greatest social experiment ever designed, and time and time again we see human behavior – for better or worse – on display. With Bradley Kleihege, the 26-year-old law student originally from Haslett, MI, we were reminded of just how difficult it is to “not let your true self” shine through in a grueling game like this, because some of the ugly, “villainous” behavior that we saw from Bradley was apparently his authentic self.
If you missed any of the action, you can catch up with our Episode 7 Recap, as well as checking out the Podcast below.
CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE!
It’s hard to say that Bradley simply got the “villain” edit, or that somehow the show just portrayed him unfairly, because on more than one occasion, we heard directly from Bradley himself about his personality outside of the game. Equal parts smart and snide, Bradley seems to have social awareness about his abrasiveness, but not enough self-control (or care) to do anything about it.
The game made it easy for him to be arrogant. His Naviti Tribe won the first two Immunity Challenges, and then when the tribe swap landed him at Malolo, he was part of their only Immunity Challenge win. When on Day 12 he faced his very first Tribal Council, Michael called him out as being the “leader” of the majority and it was the first real heat that Bradley had to face in the game. But when Michael incorrectly played his Immunity Idol, Bradley came out smelling like roses.
Portrayed as a whiny complainer early on, and later as just a jerk (telling Dom that he had too much coffee when Dom was trying to apologize for his challenge performance was among his best unfiltered lines), Bradley‘s personality might have made him the perfect candidate to align with and go to the end with. However it was just too much, and the tribe simply had enough…it didn’t help Bradley’s chances that the two minority members of his tribe – Libby and Donathan – basically ooze sweetness out of their every pore and made cutting them loose all the more difficult a thought. In the end Bradley was Bradley’s worst enemy, and he was unanimously removed from the game in the final vote before the merge.
I had the chance to speak to Bradley today on the FilmSurvivor Podcast (the full audio of which you can find and download at the bottom of this article). But here were some highlights from the interview:
BRADLEY KLEIHEGE INTERVIEW
On his villainous portrayal and persona on the show:
Bradley Kleihege: I think how I was portrayed on TV was definitely a character, that is what I had went in to do, was to be an entertaining TV villain. Now I agree there are definitely parallels to my real life. I think that what you get on TV is just a highly-exaggerated version of myself and who I am. And I think the other thing that is sometimes lost on TV is the nuance, the knowing that I’m being ridiculous, or doing something in an ironic way. Like in my daily life, I would never go around and be like, “I’m so fantastic!” I would never say that seriously. I would have a smirk on my face and I would have made sure to every single person around me that they knew I was being facetious…I think if you look at what was on the TV, for the most part, you can pick up little elements of self-awareness, that there was good clues that there was a method to my madness.
On the real reason he believes he was voted out:
Bradley: It was a little bit misleading on last night’s episode, and Dom will tell you, he didn’t vote me off because I was annoying him. Dom is a great Survivor player and he’s running circles around everybody else at this point in the game, and he would have kept me. If I was just being annoying, he would have kept me until the end. What you didn’t see because, let’s say, I got so much personal character content, was that I was perceived in that moment to be a threat to win the game. He got rid of me because I voted out Brendan, then I voted out Stephanie, and he thought I was voting out all of the parents, people that would have a compelling case to the jury if they made it to the end. He also didn’t trust me and Kellyn working together, and he had said that from right after the first swap. That the first chance he got, one of us had to go. So it was made out to be far more personal than it was, and I think it was personal for, let’s say, Donathan, but for Dom who was the one that pulled the move and got the move to work, I was not the goat that it made it seem.

Kenya Moore Says NeNe Leakes Got The Last Laugh With Halloween Costume; NeNe Calls Kim Zolciak A Joke
NeNe Leakes won this season of Real Housewives Of Atlanta for me when she turned up at Eva Marcille‘s Halloween party dressed as an exterminator with her bug wand pointed directly at Kim Zolciak.
NeNe has no regrets and had no fears about what reaction she might generate. “My costume was my favorite, and it was so fitting, considering that it was all Kim wished everyone would believe!” NeNe scoffs. “Kim is a joke every time I see her. I’m never worried about a hater that stays sipping haterade! out of a Solo cup“
“NeNe got the last laugh!” Kenya Moore added. “I have to applaud Gregg for wearing that roach costume — you have to be really confident to walk into a party as a roach!”
Despite NeNe’s epic costume, Kenya still votes Cynthia Bailey‘s appearance as Fifty Cyn as her favorite. “She blew me away! I had no idea who she was coming to the party as, but it made perfect sense. She stayed committed all night, and I really enjoyed her method acting. Robert De Niro would be proud.”
NeNe wasn’t laughing, however, when Marlo Hampton confronted Porsha Williams, then chased her down trying to grab her bootleg wedding dress train. NeNe thought, “‘Oh sh–! Here we go again!‘ But also, ‘Why though?'” Luckily both women dispersed to their separate corners and the incident fizzled out.
Shockingly Kenya offers up a compliment to Porsha for her role as Conny in Two Can Play That Game. “I thought Porsha did a good job!” she told Bravo. “Cynthia and I were cracking up at the stage play the entire time. It was really funny!”
Next week is the reunion, and I doubt any of us will be laughing. More like clinging to the edge of our seats with fear. I am gonna need Botox after all this!

Real Housewives Of New York Recap: First I Was Afraid, I Was Petrified!
Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” has basically been my anthem while anxiously awaiting Real Housewives of New York. Well guess, what? They’re back with all the camel toe, cultural appropriation, and drunken drama we’ve come to expect from these Upper East Siders. Throw in Luann de Lesseps’ recent shenanigans, and it’s a cocktail Carrie Bradshaw herself would endorse.
Ramona Singer is drinking coffee from a mug that reads, “Keep Calm…Take a Xanax.” If there was ever a more appropriate opening scene for any season premiere of a housewives franchise, this is it. The women are readying for a day in the Big Apple, with Carole Radziwill running through Manhattan and Tinsley Mortimer failing to potty train her mini-dog. Dorinda Medley is razor focused on planning a massive Halloween party. The theme is “Famous People: Dead or Alive” and Dorinda is channeling her inner Gaga. Unfortunately for Dorinda, she didn’t read the fine print on her Amazon order, and instead of the infamous Lady Gaga bubble dress, she received a box full of clear plastic orbs. She should store them for a future crafting sesh. Decorated with holly and scary Santas, they’d make the perfect addition to her Berkshires Yuletide menagerie. Of course, if you’re a RHONY, you’ve got a costume designer who works at SNL on speed dial who is willing to help out for a name drop. Done and done.
Before the macabre festivities, Bethenny Frankel has a gala to attend where she is honored for her tremendous work in crisis relief in Texas and Puerto Rico. She recounts her efforts and the snowball effect while managing to pat herself on the back and appear incredibly humbled by her experiences, which is a balance I’ve never seen in brash Bethenny. She’s invited Tinsley and Ramona as they donated $10,000 and and $3,000 respectively early in the initiative. Ramona is quick to notice that Bethenny’s bestie wasn’t included on the guest list. Perhaps her crazy eyes are a bit more cunning this season. Nah, who am I kidding?
Heading to Dorinda’s apartment, Luann is bombarded with coffee and promises of a Berkshires getaway and caftan canoodling now that she’s single. Dorinda notes that Tom seemed to get worse after they got married, and Luann agrees. However, she is still pretending everything was perfect with Tom despite his documented cheating, their ten month marriage, and her subsequent arrest and rehab stint (my bad, that hasn’t happened yet in the RHONY timeline). You know, sometimes love just isn’t enough. Preach, Countess. There’s a song in there somewhere…oh wait. Speaking of songs, Dorinda reveals her Gaga plans, and Lu realizes she should dress up as a singer too for Halloween. She laughs haughtily that she could just be herself. I’m betting now she’s wishing she could go back in time and do just that. Luann isn’t all that upset with Tom, but she’s really riled about Carole’s inability to pick up the phone to see how she’s doing. Her costars’ consensus? The divorce was inevitable. In fact, they were more shocked by the fact the wedding actually happened. Sonja Morgan likens the short-lived relationship to Lu’s Moroccan camel debacle, and it’s the playback America didn’t know it needed.
Carole and Tinsley are a blonder and much more bubbly version of last season’s Carole and Bethenny. After Carole and Adam set up Tinsley with Scott, the women’s friendship blossomed over boyfriends and travel…and break-ups. Tinsley and Scott are on the outs due to distance, but she still loves him and hopes to reconcile. Likewise, Carole and Adam are taking a break, but they’re still enjoying coffee together on a daily basis. And by “coffee” she means an overly caffeinated trip to pound town.
After being MIA and dodging Ramona’s several attempts to reach out for Turtle Time, Sonja is joining her old friend to shop for costumes. Sonja is dressed in an unintentional crop top and is talking a hundred miles a minute about traipsing all over Europe like a free bird now that her daughter is in boarding school. Ramona is confused. She’s pretty sure Sonja spent her summer sleeping her way through the Hamptons. With all the drama in her life, Sonja settled on a diet of anti-depressants and croissants (hence the crop-top), so she spent some time in Costa Rica “juicing and getting off the meds.” The ladies dish on Luann’s divorce. They saw it coming–Tom is a playboy. Sonja champions him as a great charity f**k. Oh Sonja, don’t ever change.
Carole informs us that she never exercised a day in her life, and at fifty-four years young, she started feeling a bit scrawny. Motivated to run the New York City marathon, Carole has been working out with a trainer and has clocked her longest run in at twenty-one miles. With no younger beau and a reportedly rocky friendship with Bethenny, is this what Carole’s story line has been reduced to? She deserves more. Someone please call a ghost writer! Across town, Bethenny is still grieving the death of Cookie with her trusty driver Kevin, who also appears to be her trusty dog walker. Cookie saw Bethenny through every life changing event, and damn, it’s hard to lose a pet. I am not being sarcastic in the least. It’s devastating to see how upset she still is, but I am puzzled why she Snapchatted (Instagram storied??) her bawling her eyes out after putting down her pooch. That seems like a bit much to share. Or maybe not. My sosh mede knowledge of appropriateness is sub par at best.
It’s almost time for Dorinda’s fete, and Carole is dressed as Amelia Earhart, with a red negligee under her fighter pilot suit because, hey, it’s Halloween and that’s the one night of the year women can dress slutty without judgment. At least she’s being honest. Dorinda reveals Luann is pissed at Carole for not sending the obligatory “I told you so” “I’m sorry you’re going through this tough time” divorce text. Carole laughs at the thought of Luann’s rage. She’s not holding her breath for an apology text for those times Luann called her friends jealous bitches for trying to protect her from walking down the aisle with a serial cheater. Dorinda’s costume designer arrives in time to help her shimmy into the bubble leotard. John has traded in dry cleaning bags for SWAT gear to protect his pop princess.
For longer than I should have, I thought Tinsley was Tamra Judge dressed as a Like a Virgin-era Madonna. Tinsley looked just like her (Tamra, not Madonna). Perhaps she was technically dressed up as Tamra dressed as Madonna? Sonja and Rocco arrive as Lucy and Desi, but by the way the ladies have been hemming and hawing, Sonja should be dressed as Waldo because she’s been missing all summer. She hides in a corner cooing over Rocco but wishing she was with Frenchie. Ramona arrives wearing a red latex bodysuit a la Britney Spears, because of course she would. I have to hand it to her, she looks great, but she definitely forgot her Xanax. Staying true to the pop star theme, Lu bulldozes into the bar dressed as Diana Ross complete with a mile-high afro and next level tan. Just wow. I honestly have no words. Apparently, money can’t buy you class or even an ounce of self-awareness.
The women are miffed as to why Sonja has yet to come over to say hello. Gaga has clearly had one too many martinis because she’s slurring her disdain for Lady Morgan’s manners. On cue, Sonja joins the group, making excuses about Rocco distracting her from the girls. Luann chastises Sonja for talking about her divorce in the press. She’s a tad peeved, but make no mistake, she will survive.
Bethenny clearly missed the memo to come dressed as an actual person, because she has opted to transform herself into Elle Woods a drag queen Barbie/Texas prostitute. Those humanitarian efforts must have taken up every last bit of Bethenny’s couth and kindness because she gives a quick rundown on her friends’ costumes. Carole is the ugly step child of the zookeeper outfit she wore in real life last season. Perhaps Carole should have taken her own advice and slutted it up a bit more. Thankfully, Ramona’s costume meets that threshold enough for the both of them, being the perfect mix of tits and camel toe. Carole is chain smoking because that’s what Amelia would do, and it’s a bold move for someone about to run a marathon. Dorinda expresses her pride for Carole’s endeavor by offering the best post-race plan via a garble of subtitles. She’s slurring about Adam Sandler (or was it Andy Samberg?) and her SNL dress designer before John carries her out of the party.
Luann is exhausted by two years of defending Tom, and the only things that will make her feel better are karaoke and belittling Carole for not reaching out with post-Tom sympathies. Carole counters that she was Lu’s only acquaintance who didn’t engage in the pre-wedding Tom gossip shit storm, so perhaps Luann should shift her anger elsewhere. Also, Carole didn’t hear from Luann when things went south with Adam, so even Stevens. Either Luann is hella wasted or her head is tired from holding up that fifty pound fro (probably both), because she nods off in agreement…or is that just defeat?
Realizing she’s not the center of attention, Bethenny announces she has a new investment property in the Hamptons, but it’s near the highway. Ramona is baffled. She knows the Hamptons, and there is nothing Hamptons about property near the highway. Bethenny begs to differ, and Bethenny is always right, which we already knew. Likewise, Ramona never knows when to shut up, so she reminds Bethenny that they are very similar. Ramona, like Bethenny, is entrepreneurial. Oh snap. Did Ramona just commit the cardinal Sonja sin of pretending to be anywhere near as successful as Bethenny? I smell a cheater brand meltdown! Bethenny goes off on a tangent about her multiple properties and how unbe-weave-able Ramona’s comments are. When the hair pun goes over Ramona’s head, Bethenny is even more frustrated, but no one has the heart to tell her that explaining the joke makes it even less funny that it was already. Geez. Please some just get that wig off the Countess and send Diana Ross an apology bouquet.

Meghan Edmonds Celebrates Twin Boys At Baby Shower- Photos
Even though Meghan Edmonds will not be returning to Real Housewives of Orange County next season, her fans still get to see some updates from her pregnancy on social media.
She and husband Jim Edmonds confirmed that will be adding twin boys to their family in June 2018 and they celebrated the twins’ future arrival with a baby shower over the weekend.
Apparently Meghan did not have a “baby shower,” but she had a “baby sprinkle.” Apparently a “sprinkle” is a low key version of a baby shower to celebrate having a second, third, fourth child etc because a mom already has all of the baby necessities. Or at least that’s what I read in an article Us Weekly. I had no idea that was even a thing, but the photos from the Edmonds twins’ sprinkle do look adorable.
Check out the photos of Meghan with her family and friends celebrating her pregnancy at the “sprinkle” in the gallery below.

Survivor: Ghost Island Episode 7 Recap: Easy Pickins’
Being a dick isn’t always a bad thing when it comes to Survivor. Sure, it pretty much prevents you from ever being able to actually win the game, but if you can make it past the first few Tribal Councils, being a dick actually becomes a virtue. Who doesn’t want to take an unlikable person to the end with them? The further a person like that goes into the game, the more likely they will find themselves sitting there at the end. Sitting there with no chance of winning albeit, but making it there nonetheless.
Tonight the big question was: Do we want to bring a dick with us into the merge or would we rather be like Lorena Bobbitt and cut it off before he is able to do further damage? We got the answer to that question tonight, in addition to lots of other big developments that will help set the stage for the coming merge next week.
But before we dive in, as I do at the beginning of every Recap, please heed the following: Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s Episode 7 of Survivor: Ghost Island, so if you have not and don’t want to be spoiled, please come back later! It’s important to add too that while we WILL hit on all of the important developments of the episode, this is not a linear “blow-by-blow” recap, and is more of a discussion and reaction of what we just witnessed together.
CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE, AND THIS IS YOUR LAST *SPOILER* WARNING!
Yeah that’s right, I led with a Lorena Bobbitt joke this week. That’s the sort of mood I’m in at the moment. Expect more dick jokes in the coming paragraphs.
Yes it was Bradley who was the surprise blindside tonight, the final victim before next week’s merge episode (I can’t wait!). Although Bradley was in the majority alliance, apparently this dick rubbed people the wrong way, but no one would claim he didn’t have balls (OK, I’m done). Now, it’s important that I’m only using the word “dick” to describe Bradley, because it’s a word that came up on the show, one that he used himself in describing his actions, and it perfectly reflects the way he was portrayed this season. Bradley might be a lovely guy and maybe a part or all of his persona was developed in the editing room, but it’s clear that even he’s aware of his shortcomings. Apparently, he was just too abrasive and disruptive to his tribe to want to keep around until the merge…but it will most likely be a good move to get rid of him. While he would have been a good candidate to take to the end and win against, he’s way smarter than your average goat and therefore could become quite dangerous if not nipped in the bud sooner rather than later.
We’ll talk more about the pending merge in a bit, but let’s get to the real development of the evening: Ghost Island actually mattered! Kellyn was sent there for a second time, but this time around she decided to play the game and risk her vote, unlike the last time where she stood pat. Her odds were increased this time around, giving her a two-out-of-three chance to land an advantage, and she chose correctly, scoring herself an “extra vote” advantage. Was I the only one though, who thought it was lame that the actual artifact she received was the “steal a vote” advantage that led to Michaela‘s demise back in Season 34? The reason I think it was lame was because if the thing is a “steal a vote” advantage, then why does Kellyn get to use it as an “extra vote” advantage? This makes it unlike that artifact altogether, no? Ugh. Nevermind. I’m over trying to make sense of Ghost Island. The good news is that it at least produced something that will hopefully play into things in the coming weeks.
On a side note, eagle-eyed viewers tonight got a glimpse of the Ghost Island urns, and you may have noticed that there are eight unbroken urns remaining now that Kellyn was there twice. Doing some quick math, that means that we can expect Ghost Island to factor in at least up until we are at Final Five! Or is my math off?
The other important occurrence of the night was that two Idols were found. Michael – or should I say, future All-Star returning player Michael – found an Idol when apparently it wasn’t deemed important enough to Angela, Desi and Kellyn to follow him around and check up on him…that’s a rookie Survivor mistake. Elsewhere, Wendell came upon an Idol of his own. For those that are counting, that’s three new advantages released into the game during Episode 7.
The merge coming will definitely be good news for Michael, and also for Malolo, who finally “reversed the curse” of their own making by finally winning an Immunity Challenge. They went to five of the seven pre-merge Tribals, despite the rotating cast of players that occupied the tribe. I sort of liked Desi‘s idea to burn the Malolo flag, and maybe that helped them mentally during the challenge. Malolo will be officially gone next week, and it will be interesting to see if the Malolo curse carries on to any of its original members the rest of the way through.
Episode Take-Away: It was a good episode in that it was the first in several weeks that wasn’t predictable…I really thought they were going to vote out Libby. Bradley had no chance of winning the way he was being portrayed, so in that sense I’m not sorry to see him go, although I did like his villainous character on the show. It was nice to finally see someone go to Ghost Island and have a chance to play a game, and hopefully Ghost Island will continue to factor heavily into the outcome of this season. I liked that we got to see two Idol-finds this week as well, not just because I think it will make things even more interesting post-merge, but because the two Idols that were introduced tonight brought back two of my all-time favorite Survivor memories: The “f***ing stick” and Erik Reichenbach‘s Immunity Necklace. I’ll never forget that classic episode and the way that Eliza delivered her famous line, nor will I forget the embarrassment I felt for Erik as not only did he make the biggest boneheaded mistake in the history of Survivor, but he was literally laughed off of the show by a cackling jury. Good luck to Wendell in trying to hide that thing, but these were two big artifacts that many of us were waiting to see come in to play once we heard the Ghost Island theme of this season.
We’re now officially beyond the “pre-merge” portion of Survivor’s Season 36, which means that we can now reflect back on it and try to get a sense as to what we’re thinking of this season overall. I plan on diving into this topic in more depth on this week’s Podcast, but I’m also interested in hearing all of your thoughts…so hit up the comment section this week y’all!
Strategic Move of the Week: Anything that did not involve uttering the phrase,” I think you just had too much coffee.”
Voted out this week: Bradley Kleihege
Won Immunity: The Green Tribe…and Malolo! Not a misprint!
Vote: No Idols or advantages were played. 4 – Bradley (Dom, Donathan, Libby, Chelsea), 1 – Libby (Bradley)
Next Week’s Episode: Let me say this now…next week’s episode is going to be a doozy! Not only is it the merge episode, which is historically one of the best episodes of each and every season, but there are SO many advantages in play that it is wholly unpredictable. Not only do you have Michael and Wendell with Idols, but Dom has an Idol as well AND the Legacy Advantage…remember that the Legacy Advantage can only be used at certain Tribal Councils, but next week’s Tribal Council is one of those! So that’s potentially four tricks up four different sleeves set for next week. You aren’t going to want to miss it!
Quick Note! Remember to return right here to Reality Tea for my FilmSurvivor Podcast on Thursday, where you can listen to my full exit interview with Bradley Kleihege. I also encourage you to check out my weekly movie reviews (like “Blockers” and “A Quiet Place” this week) as I am also the national film critic for AXS.com and am a movie critic/TV personality in the Detroit area.
