In the wake of the unexpected layoffs at The Washington Post, former executive editor of the daily newspaper, Martin Baron, has revealed that the mass firing might have something to do with Jeff Bezos’ fear of Donald Trump. He recently opened up about the deteriorating state of the Bezos-owned news outlet, suggesting that it is due to the latter’s intentions to get into the good books of the current president.

Jeff Bezos was afraid of Donald Trump

During a recent conversation, the veteran journalist shared his two cents on the recent Washington Post layoffs. He reflected on their possible connection to the Amazon founder being afraid of the POTUS.

“[Bezos] acquired the paper about a year after I had been there,” Martin Baron noted on The Briefing with Jen Psaki, He added, “He invested. He spoke on behalf of the mission of the Post. He spoke on behalf of the mission of the press in this country.”

While Baron admitted that the news outlet initially “grew under the ownership,” he noted that the recent layoffs “represent a turn back.”

“It suggests that this newspaper, with a deep heritage and historically high ambitions, is going to retreat,” Baron continued. “And it’s a terrible thing to see a news organization that’s been so important to the history of this country retreat the way that this newspaper is doing.”

The former Boston Globe editor then detailed how the beginning of Donald Trump’s second presidential term influenced Jeff Bezos to adopt a different approach with The Washington Post.

“Trump came into office again,” Baron said. “He had promised vengeance against his perceived political enemies. Jeff Bezos was seen as a political enemy by Donald Trump for one reason and one reason only, and that was the coverage of the Washington Post.”

This, according to Martin Baron, prompted Bezos to fear that the Trump administration might start targeting his other businesses if The Washington Post continued to run news criticizing the current regime.

Baron, who embraced retirement in 2021, concluded his account by saying, “This is a newspaper that has prided itself on its independence, and the behavior of Jeff Bezos has suggested to the readers that he is not independent at all. He’s actually dependent — dependent on Donald Trump.”

Kid Rock faced backlash for allegedly lip-syncing during his Turning Point USA halftime show, conducted to counter Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance. Many noticed that a prerecorded version of one of his songs appeared to be playing. In fact, his lip movements didn’t seem to match the audio. Fans immediately took to social media to share their reactions. Many criticized him for what they believed was a lip-sync performance.

Kid Rock trolled over TPUSA halftime show

Kid Rock performed at the Turning Point USA Halftime show, which sparked massive discussion on the internet, with many believing that he didn’t sing but lip-synced throughout the performance. Alluding to his performance of the 1999 hit “Bawitdaba” at the halftime show, many believed that a prerecorded version was playing in the background. They speculated this as they heard background music playing when he distanced his mic away from his mouth. Moreover, some also noted that his audio and lip movements didn’t match.

A fan wrote, “I’m sorry this cannot be real.” Another one added, “Yeah, its clear he was lip singing, awful, I expected more from Kid Rock.” “Is he lip-syncing? He keeps lowering the microphone, but the volume of the voice never changes. I don’t even think his lips are moving part of the time,” another one jotted their observation in a tweet. A fourth one said, “He’s not even singing.”

Kid Rock recently also shared his thoughts on Bad Bunny’s Spanish performance at Super Bowl 60. It was during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Ingrahm Angle.” He revealed that he didn’t understand his music, like most of the people, due to the language barrier. He further added, “I saw there’s a lot of dancers and a lot of big to-do stuff. And, you know, he said he wanted to have a dance party; it looked like he had one.”

Further sharing his stance on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl gig, he continued,  “Not my cup of tea, but I don’t fault that kid for doing the Super Bowl, getting in front of a global audience. I fault the NFL for putting him in that position and Turning Point for having to come out and have an alternative for people to watch. You know, it’s just — poor kid”(via The Wrap).

Some users have taken to X to talk about how they found Andy Cohen’s look in the latest Nerds Candy Super Bowl ad similar to that of Jeffrey Epstein. The post has gone viral, and other users have responded, expressing a similar opinion.

Social media compares Andy Cohen to Jeffrey Epstein after Super Bowl ad

Nerds Candy’s 30-second Super Bowl LX ad, featuring radio host Andy Cohen, has gone viral. Users on X have pointed out that the talk show host bears a resemblance to the high-profile convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

A user, Shadow of Ezra, shared the ad on X (formerly Twitter). They captioned it, “The Super Bowl just aired a Nerds Candy commercial featuring Andy Cohen, and viewers are flooding social media saying he looks like Jeffrey Epstein in the ad.”

At the time of writing, the post has garnered over 1.8 million views. Other users have responded to the post, noting that they had a similar reaction. In fact, some users said they believed that it was an AI version of Epstein. The user replied, “If you wouldn’t have mentioned what it was, I thought it was an AI video of Epstein.”

Meanwhile, a second user commented, “I mean, he definitely does, but even regardless, this is the creepiest f—– commercial, knowing what we all know now!”

A third user posted a side profile of Cohen from the ad and captioned it, “ngl kinda does look like him.”

“Hard to unsee once people point it out. Another ad that ends up sparking more controversy than candy sales. What were they thinking?” said another.

Despite the overwhelming reactions from the users online, the company wasn’t making any attempt to replicate Epstein’s personality. It was the Bravo host’s natural look, as previously seen on all his previous shows, but it still managed to confuse some viewers.

A user commented, pointing this out. They wrote, “Jeff can burn in hell but I’m pretty sure this is just what Andy looks like.”

Ben Affleck keeps his private life as private as possible, but over the weekend in Los Angeles, he reportedly lit up when a photographer brought up his ex, Jennifer Garner. Affleck seemingly could not hide his smile when his ex-wife’s name came up. Whatever the reason behind that smile, fans could not help but highlight how Affleck and Garner have managed to team up as co-parents, even as their lives have moved in different directions.

Ben Affleck is unable to stop smiling after ex Jennifer Garner’s name pops up — report

The Daily Mail reported that Ben Affleck flashed a wide grin at the mention of his ex, Jennifer Garner, during a brief exchange in LA.

Notably, Garner has had a big week in business after her “Once Upon A Farm” food company launched its Initial Public Offering (IPO) at the New York Stock Exchange last week. According to the Daily Mail, the brand’s value now sits near $845 million. This is much more than Affleck’s estimated net worth, which is between $55 million and $150 million, as the outlet cited conflicting figures from Forbes and Celebrity Net Worth.

Affleck and Garner married in 2005, announced their separation in 2015, and finalized their divorce in 2018. They share three children, including 20-year-old Violet, 17-year-old Fin, and 13-year-old Samuel. The Daily Mail reported that Samuel joined Garner at the NYSE on Friday for the IPO.

Garner has spoken openly about why she joined “Once Upon A Farm” as a co-founder in 2017, stating on Good Morning America in 2023, “We are trying to be an ally for moms.” More recently, she told PEOPLE, “I just have so much heart for young parents and how much you want to do everything right.”

Affleck, too, has talked about parenting in the public eye. He told E! News in January, “You put something on your children when you have a public life and that’s complicated,” adding, “We really want to give them room to figure out what they want to do.”

Together, Ben Affleck and his ex, Jennifer Garner, have a positive outlook toward parenting. So, irrespective of why Affleck flashed a smile at the mention of Garner’s name, they seem to make it work.
