Eden Sassoon Admits She Had Nothing To Add To The Argument In Hong Kong; Hilariously Mocks Her Wig On Twitter
Eden Sassoon didn’t have much to add to the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills in Hong Kong, but she did rock an awesomely bad wig and apparently meet up with her Instagram dude – so the trip was not entirely in vain! This week, Eden chose – or was forced – to be a bit player on the stage, a role she says suited the situation well, considering how the trip devolved into a string of explosive arguments and salacious accusations.
In her RHOBH blog, Eden asks, “Have you guys ever been in a situation where there are two girls fighting in front of you and you literally have no idea what to do but lie down and cross your feet behind your head and watch? Oh no? Just me? The only thing that would have made the situation better was if I had some popcorn to eat while I watched what seemed like a fast-paced tennis match! #Nuts”

Eden breaks down the fight between Dorit Kemsley and Erika Girardi, which she says had been brewing for quite some time. “Erika and Dorit both had feelings that clearly weren’t expressed until that moment. They built up frustration with each other that needed to be discussed, but instead of much discussion, it turned into this #HUGE fight! Kyle [Richards], [Lisa] Vanderpump, and me didn’t say a word. How could you? What would you even say? This was for them to figure out.”
After teams were formed post-junk boat, Eden hung with Erika, Lisa Rinna, and Eileen Davidson back at the hotel. Defending Erika against accusations of being “the ice queen,” Eden argues, “I think everyone needed to see her being vulnerable. Erika is not cold, and everyone can see that very clearly after Hong Kong.”
At least there was a Buddha to see and enormous incense to light! Eden reflects, “It’s #Buddha time! I was so excited. I needed some spiritual time in Hong Kong, especially after that blowout. We were so blown away by the beauty. Everything seemed very calm on the gondola ride. Was the rain a coincidence? I think someone up above knew we needed a cleanse. #LOL”
No sooner did the ladies get spiritually centered (well…sorta), than the dinner from hell blew up in their glam squad prepped faces. Eden blogs, “Now it was off to another awkward dinner. Seriously? We are in the most beautiful restaurant ever. Why can’t we just get along and eat good food? #AnotherSilentDinnerForMe”

“Rinna brings up the husband…now they are yelling in the restaurant! Eileen accidentally bring up kids, now there is crying and louder yelling in the restaurant. This is #Insane! It kept going and going and going. I JUST WANTED DINNER. Everything was out of control, and I didn’t say one word, literally.”
Revealing that she switched seats with Rinna after the argument to comfort Eileen (really!?), Eden goes on to defend Eileen’s misstep in bringing up children. “Everyone knew she didn’t mean to talk about Erika’s son. That was not intentional at all; it was just something that came out in the moment. Eileen loves Erika.”
Perhaps the most bizarre addition Eden brought to the Hong Kong trip was her black wig, which has taken on a life of its own on social media.
True story: I tweeted a poll asking what the craziest moment of this week’s RHOBH was – 1) Erika’s meltdown, 2) Rinna’s coke comment, or 3) Eden’s wig (ha ha). Eden replied with this pic, which I’ll admit at nearly midnight, made me scream like a little girl:
Eden has since pinned the photo on Twitter, which has garnered horror movie reactions far and wide. She also posted a pic of her wig – poised atop a Styrofoam head – watching Tuesday night’s episode live. Perhaps I need my own brand of mental help, but I FIND THIS HILARIOUS and for some reason, it makes me love this crazy chick a little bit more. Self deprecation can take a Housewife far, after all. And after all of the vitriol RHOBH served up this week, what’s a little spooky wig humor gonna hurt anyone?

Exclusive Interview With The ‘Survivor: Game Changers’ Contestant Voted Out Of Episode 3 – Spoilers!
History was made on Survivor Wednesday night with a Survivor “first,” as we witnessed one of the most chaotic and unpredictable Tribal Councils in the show’s history. It followed a huge twist that sent two competing tribes to Tribal Council – the same tribal council – where one person was voted off in dramatic fashion.
There is always someone on the receiving end of any twist the Survivor producers introduce, and this wasn’t an easy one to swallow given how things went down at Tribal. Fan-favorite and three-time player Malcolm Freberg was the victim, in what was a crushing Tribal Council featuring an unprecedented amount of whispering and huddling up. It was made worse because Malcolm was seemingly in a great position in the game. He was just beginning to bond with JT before all the hell broke loose.
A challenge beast and a great social player, Malcolm fought uphill battles in his previous season, but he was clearly not ready to go home this time. His supposed ally JT was playing both sides of the Tribal Council, but he never intended for Malcolm to go home…JT had instead thought that Brad and company would vote out Sandra. When Tai successfully played his Immunity Idol on Sierra, nullifying six total votes, all Malcolm could do was put his head in his hands when he saw his name written down. With that, a blindside to end all blindsides sent Malcolm home well before jury, as the fourth person voted out of Survivor: Game Changers.
I had the chance to speak with Malcolm earlier today, the day after his final episode aired. You can listen to the full audio of the interview and podcast below, but here were some highlights from the interview.
MALCOLM INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS:
On – what else? – that crazy Tribal Council last night:
Malcolm: I mean, do you have a few hours? I’m still trying to sort it out myself and it’s months later. I can tell you what I think happened, but much of this is speculation. When it comes down to it, me and Aubry had talked through every single scenario beforehand and thought we had covered absolutely everything that could have gone wrong, and NOBODY in their right mind ever thought that JT would tell them who we’re voting for. To this day, I still can’t explain what was going through his head with that. I don’t think he knew about their Idol, I think he was just trying to stick close to Brad, I really think JT wanted to vote out Sandra…it’s just so confusing (laughs).
On whether or not he thinks JT knew it was Malcolm who would go home:
I don’t think he expected that, but my understanding was that it just backfired on him. In the game, we were shown as being close, but we were a bromance to the 10th level. Once we were on the same tribe, we were like BFFs immediately. And the others on my tribe sort of encouraged it, because that meant we could be close to JT. What JT did though, I just can’t explain his actions, but when he realized that it might be me at Tribal, I think he started freaking out, like I saw him cry a little on the way out of Tribal, which I appreciated (laughs). But he never in a million years thought they’d flip it on him and vote me. He just didn’t think it through.
On deciding to come back to play Survivor for a third time:
I have a split opinion inside my head on this. Like I said in all my pre-game interviews, I’m like the most competitive human being on Earth. Like it ruins friendships how I get even over like a friendly game of Uno. So to lose twice, there is obviously that urge to go back. But on the other hand, when you do think about it, I had a pretty good run. I don’t really care about quote-unquote “my Survivor Legacy,” but it was just this short chapter in my life, and maybe that is all it needs to be. But when I got the call for this season, the timing just worked out as far as major real life events. Everything sort of just fell into place so I was like, yeah, let’s go win a million dollars.
On if his Survivor story is finished and if he’d consider playing a fourth time:
So you know how I just sort of hinted like oh, I’m hesitant to come back and play again? Not anymore. The fourth time? I’m going. I didn’t really even get to play this time. Yeah, this is not how the story ends. If I get a fourth chance, I’m re-writing the ending.

Lala Kent Discusses Her Disappearance, Vanderpump Dogs, Stassi’s Love Life, Tom And Katie, And Her Upcoming Projects
It’s so hard trying to keep track of Lala Kent’s presence on Vanderpump Rules. Is she still a part of the show? Is she done with it forever? It seems like that answer is constantly changing. Lala left the show, denounced the show, returned for the reunion, and started taking a lot of photos with Scheana Marie and Ariana Madix. Now it seems like she’s all in again, but who knows.
On a recent podcast, Lala dished on her disappearance, her reluctance to share her personal life on the show, her friendship with James Kennedy, the surprising reason why she respects and sympathizes with Stassi Schroeder, her thoughts on Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney‘s relationship, and her volunteer work with Lisa Vanderpump‘s new animal rescue Vanderpump Dogs.

Lala talked all things Vanderpump Rules on Bravo’s The Daily Dish Podcast. They jumped right into it by asking her, “Where have you been?” Lala gave the most random answer possible: “I went back to Utah and volunteered my time to helping animals” without telling anyone, answering any messages, or getting any shifts at SUR covered.
Later in the interview, Lala revealed, “I am volunteering my time at Lisa’s dog shelter called Vanderpump Dogs.” She elaborated, “It’s like a nightclub in there. It’s so chic. It takes the stigma away from shelter animals. It’s so happy in there. I love how she has all of the merchandise and every penny goes back into Vanderpump Dogs.” If there’s any way Lala can get back into Lisa’s good graces after leaving her high and dry at the restaurant it’s by volunteering to help dogs. Smart move, Lala.
Addressing her sudden exit and her reluctance to share her personal life, Lala said, “There are things in life that are just supposed to be private. I don’t care if you’ve signed up for a reality TV show or not, and that goes for every single person on that show. If there’s something that you don’t feel should be out there in the public, you don’t have to talk about it.”
As a human being, I totally get that and support her thoughts. As a viewer, it’s kind of frustrating, but then again, I am a little too into my TV shows.

Lala opened up about what she learned when she left without giving anyone any sort of notice: “Just because you signed up for something, it doesn’t mean that you’ve given the world permission to rip your life apart. That’s when I started feeling less defensive. Instead of attacking people, I was like ‘You know what, we’re not going to talk about this’ instead of the alternative that I would usually go to which was slam some drinks, get over it, and body shame somebody. Not okay. That’s what I gained from taking a step back.”
Yeah, the body shaming is never ever an okay thing to do. Hopefully that is something that she apologizes for and never does again. I get that Katie has become a polarizing character, but body comments are unkind and unnecessary.
Lala has had a lot to say about Katie and Tom on the show, on social media, and in interviews, so I was definitely interested to hear her thoughts on their relationship now that they’ve tied the knot.
Lala admitted, “I haven’t really watched since I’ve been off of it. I’ve obviously reconnected with Ariana and Scheana, so they’ve filled me in a bit. I’ve seen a few clips of Tom and Katie’s relationship and I just really hope that they can make it work because I feel like Tom is a really amazing person and she should feel very lucky to be with him.”
I wonder if that was a solely a compliment for Tom or if that was also some shade intended for Katie. Surprisingly, Lala concluded her opinion by saying, “I do wish them the best. They seem super happy at every event that I have seen them at.”

It’s odd that Lala is (was?) on this show and gets to talk about other people’s relationships, but says virtually nothing about her own life. I get why Lala’s boyfriend might not want to be on the show. Not everyone wants to open up their lives to reality TV, but the mystery of this relationship has evolved into such a scandal. Lala explained, “I’ll tell every single part of my life, but I’m not willing to tell parts of someone else’s life if they haven’t signed up for it.”
She added, “People who don’t want to be a part of this, I don’t want them to feel like they have to be.” And this surprisingly enough transitioned into Lala complimenting Stassi of all people. “I think it’s amazing that Stassi tried to protect [her ex boyfriend] Patrick. That’s the person she loved and ultimately that’s what’s going to be there at the end of the day. Who knows how long a TV show is going to last or how long you’re going to be in the public eye, but the person that you’re going to be with forever, that’s what matters.”
Aside from dishing about nothing related to her personal life and her co-stars, Lala did talk about what she has coming up professionally. “I just want to make sure that anything I put out is something that I’m proud of and that it’s not a joke. I do know that there’s a joke factor that kind of goes along with reality TV personalities that can go kind of bad.”
In addition to a movie that she starts filming in June and a clothing line called Slick Chick, Lala said that she has a song coming out called “Can I F-ck With You?” Cannot wait to hear that one.

Kenya Moore Believes Phaedra Parks Is “Focused More On The Perception People Have Of Her Than Living Her Reality”
I’m not going to lie, Kenya Moore does antagonize her Real Housewives of Atlanta costars a lot of the time. With that said, it actually did seem like she was acting from a genuine place of kindness when she threw a divorce party for Phaedra Parks and Cynthia Bailey.
Sure, a divorce is an odd thing to celebrate, but I think I understood the point Kenya intended to make with the party — she just wanted to support Phaedra and Cynthia during this transitional period of their lives. I also get why Phaedra could find it to be insensitive. I just don’t get why Phaedra handled her disappointment the way that she did. Pretending to look for ginger ale and then name calling ginger ale was NOT the best move to make.

The last episode started out with an awkward roast for Cynthia’s almost-ex Peter Thomas. Considering how much most of those women love to shit on Peter, I figured they would have much better material. The worst roaster by far was Cynthia. A woman who filed for divorce should be able to voice some grievances against her soon-to-be ex husband, but Cynthia is just too nice to be a roaster.
Kenya talked about the roast in her latest Bravo blog entry. She recapped, “I think everyone had a good line or two. But I can definitely say Cynthia was the worst.” True.
Weirdly enough, roasting one of the (sort of) cast members was actually the most peaceful part of the episode. The real drama went down at a party that was intended to be a fun time among people contractually obligated to hang out friends.
Kenya wrote, “At this point, nothing should surprise me with Phaedra, but her reaction floored me and it stung. This is the woman who is constantly talking about God, forgiveness, restorations, and supporting one another. Only a few hours earlier we were playing tennis laughing about how she can meet new guys and how we both thought the Rock was so fine, then became so offended that I threw her and Cynthia a divorce party citing some irrelevant situation we both moved on from.” It jus
The party was so out of left field. I completely understand why Phaedra would be uncomfortable with the premise of the party and how she wouldn’t want to “celebrate” the demise of a marriage, but she could have just told Kenya that.

Kenya continued, “Clearly her husband lied on me and that was well over two years ago. She chose to get married. She chose to get divorced. This woman is focused more on the perception people have of her than living her reality.”
Again, I really do understand why Phaedra isn’t down to celebrate her husband being in prison while she raises their two sons alone, but what was the point of shaming Kenya for something that Apollo Nida admitted to lying about?
Kenya was asked if “the argument with Phaedra ruin[ed] [their] friendship,” and she replied, “The truth is, I have forgiven Phaedra for trying to destroy me years ago. She single handedly started rumors that I was an alcoholic, bipolar, that I paid Walter to be my boyfriend, that I was a whore, made fun of my fertility issues stating I had scrambled eggs and the fact that I did not have a husband, to name a few.”
When you list it all out, that is a lot, yet Kenya seemed eager to be friends with Phaedra this season.
Kenya continued, “She is relentless with her attempts to obliterate any semblance of dignity or reputation I had. Yet, I forgave her and asked that she did the same with me. With that said, Phaedra is no one’s friend. If you can’t be a friend to anyone, you can’t ruin a friendship that never was.”

Eileen Davidson Didn’t Mean To Insult Erika Girardi’s Son; Thinks Dorit Kemsley Was Out Of Line & “Creepy” Toward Erika
Have you recovered from this week’s explosive Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills yet? Has the fair city of Hong Kong survived these women? Eileen Davidson tries to make sense of all the nonsense in her blog, claiming that she knew Erika Girardi would eventually lose it on Dorit Kemsley over the Pantygate issue. She also figured it would happen on a boat. Let’s face it: This group does not do well in enclosed areas.
Eileen reflects, “I knew from the beginning that the thing between Dorit and Erika would eventually come to a head. What I didn’t expect was to have Lisa [Rinna] and me dragged into it as well. Dorit’s reaction was surprising. Erika had some strong words – probably because she had been keeping the deep embarrassment and hurt she had for ‘pantygate’ in for so long. Instead of sincerely apologizing, Dorit landed some pretty harsh critiques back. Calling Lisa R. ‘low-class’ and to ‘question if Erika has feelings’ was uncalled for.”

As for Dorit’s conversation with PK about Erika needing everyone to “worship” her, Eileen calls bullsh*t. She slams the Kemsleys in her blog, arguing, “Both PK and Dorit saying that Erika has an inflated sense of self because she ‘pays people to love her’ is just plain creepy, especially coming from the only other woman who brought a glam squad to Hong Kong, I might add!”
Eileen continues to break down the Dorit/PK situation with Erika, which she insinuates is hypocritical. She writes that there’s “a lot of confusion about intentions here. One minute we see PK and Dorit saying – as they’ve done many times – that Erika was putting it all out there and making crass jokes at her expense. Then on the junk boat, Dorit said how no one ever questioned that Erika flashed PK on purpose! She even insinuated as much to Lisa R. and me!”
Yup, sounds about right to me. You know, as much as I wanted to like Dorit (and still do), her obsession with having a “connection” with Erika has felt creepy and forced from the starting gate. Or maybe it’s just PK that’s rubbed his creep factor all over her and now poor Dorit can’t get the stank off? Hmm. There’s some kind of con going on with those two and I just can’t put my finger on it…
Oh well – back to the trip! Visiting the Buddha in Hong Kong provided a momentary respite from the drama. Eileen recalls, “We all needed some serenity the next day. The gondolas were terrifying, but the perfect way to experience the views of the green, misty mountains. I think visiting the Buddha statue brought a sense of calm and wonder to each of us.”

“And that feeling of peace and serenity lasted all of us…until dinnertime,” jokes Eileen, who questions why she ever stepped into the mess at dinner. “Last week, I said that we as a group don’t do well on boats. Let’s add restaurants to that list. It got heated. It got ugly. I felt like I needed to step in only when I saw Dorit was genuinely trying to apologize. Erika was not in the place to hear that. I didn’t feel it was right at that point not to try to help to find a resolution. When will I learn?”
When Eileen said “it’s not like she’s killed your children” to Erika, referencing Dorit’s perceived offenses against her, Erika flipped. Eileen explains that she in no way meant to be derisive of Erika’s actual child – a grown son who works for the LAPD.
“What I said was a hyperbolic statement intended to mean, ‘It’s not as big of a deal as it could be.’ This was for some perspective when Erika said nothing Dorit could do would make it right. I never, ever, EVER considered that Erika would take it as me disrespecting her or her son. Nothing could be further from the truth.”
“I felt absolutely awful,” admits Eileen. “After the initial shock, I realized that there were some more things going on to lead Erika to that reaction. She was absolutely right, I don’t know how that must feel, but I have tremendous respect for the sacrifices her son makes and the sacrifices of her whole family.”

Jax Taylor Opens Up About Paying For Tom Schwartz’s Brothers To Attend His Wedding
The best part of Vanderpump Rules this week was when Tom Schwartz cried tears of joy after his triplet brothers arrived for his wedding. The moment would not have been possible if it was not for Jax Taylor and Tom Sandoval paying and coordinating the whole surprise.
I still don’t get why the budget allowed for towel invitations but not plane tickets for the siblings, but it all worked out in the end. Everyone was happy and that’s all that matters.

Jax opened up to The Daily Dish about giving Schwartz the perfect gift. Jax recalled, “We were trying to figure out what to get Tom for his wedding present and we didn’t want to get him a gift. We wanted to get him something that he really, really wanted. Tom was really up high on the budget for the wedding, but he really wanted to have his brothers there.”
Jax added that it was “a little too much to spend,” which was made super clear when he bought the tickets and had to pay for even more when the triplets missed their flights. Jax recapped, “It came really, really close to not happening. It really did. And I was livid.” Clearly.

Jax also said about the surprise, “He wanted to have his brothers there, but it wasn’t in the budget. So we surprised him with that and I knew I could get Tom to break down and cry when he saw his brothers, ’cause he loves his brothers to death. He loves his family. So that was a huge thing for us.”
It really was a sweet moment and it was nice to see Jax caring so much about someone else’s happiness.

Survivor: Game Changers Episode 3 Recap: A Big ‘By the Way’
For those who might have thought that Survivor: Game Changers was off to a slow start, well, all of your prayers have been answered. Last night’s unexpected thrill-ride of an episode was just as entertaining as it was shocking. It leaves me completely flabbergasted (always wanted to use that word) that 34 Seasons and over 500 episodes later, the game can still create “Survivor Firsts,” but that is exactly what happened. A seemingly cool “twist” led to more than the Survivor producers could have hoped for.
There is LOTS to get to, so here is your last spoiler warning, as we will be discussing the events of Episode 3 of Survivor. So grab your coffee (#coffeeisforclosers, after all) and get ready for a recap that will hopefully be a little less chaotic than that epic Tribal Council was.

First off, a tip-of-the-cap to the Survivor producers and editors of this week’s Video Preview…in it, Probst was seen telling the contestants “both losing tribes will head to Tribal Council,” which made sense, since we currently have three tribes and we’ve seen a “double Tribal Council episode” multiple times in the past. But attentive fans (or those that frequently visit spoiler sites, which I avoid like working out) aptly noticed that Probst never told us “there will be two Tribals.” Yes, for the first time (as far as I can remember…correct me if I’m wrong?), Survivor had a combined Tribal Council featuring both losing tribes, and the drama it produced had to have been more than the producers could have ever asked for.
That being said, I think this was a devastating, heart-breaking episode for many. Three-time player Malcolm Freberg is an absolute fan-favorite and one of the recent faces of the game. He fell victim to the chaos, in a manner that no player has ever seen. To call it merely a blindside seems not harsh enough, and the #wow hashtag that appeared on the screen is a bit of an understatement as well. I like how Malcolm himself summed it up, when shortly after the episode he tweeted: “What in the actual fu.” So let’s break down what led to the madness, shall we?
This episode I should say was one of the best single episodes in quite a while. It had a major shock, an epic Tribal, some great challenges (including the Survivor classic blindfold-call-out challenge) and was even structured well…the episode opened with a short scene following Caleb‘s exit, where Tai proclaimed that he was no longer playing with his heart, but with his head. This would book-end quite nicely the way the episode wrapped up. Another sly scene that didn’t play into the episode but might be a sign of things to come, showed how Deb is really playing the game, staying close to Hali while still targeting her all the while.
Speaking of a subtle scene that may factor into the long-term game, we also saw Ozzy providing for his tribe and completely kicking life’s butt the way that only Ozzy can. There isn’t a more “old school” theme than the whole “I provide for my tribe, therefore I’m valuable” concept. Are the others wanting to keep Ozzy around because he’s a good provider? We don’t really know, because Ozzy’s tribe ended up winning immunity keeping him safe, and putting the “Troyzan and his Idol” subplot on hold for at least another week.
A not-so-subtle theme of this season has been “Queen” Sandra and her apparent “rule” over the game. Yes, she’s a two-time winner, but I’d argue she’s never, ever put herself out there the way she has this season. We saw a small crack in her ego after Tai played his Idol on Sierra (more on that in a bit), a rare moment of Sandra vulnerability.
Even through Tribal Council, the audience was led to believe that Sandra‘s reign had finally come to an end. But lo and behold, the Queen made it through yet another Tribal, like she has so many times in the past. There is absolutely no way she comes out of this season as a three-time winner, right? I just can’t fathom it, although I may be in rare air by saying that I actually love me some Sandra…those that have read my stuff over the years know that I have always defended and argued that she is, without question in my mind, the best to ever play the game based simply on the fact that nobody else has won the game twice, having played only twice. But come on…there is no chance she wins this season…right?
So I promise we’ll discuss this legendary Tribal Council! But first, leading up to it, Tai manages to find himself an Idol, and then I’m sure we all gave out a collective groan when he then decided to share it with his tribe. That was such a Tai thing to do! But in retrospect, it may have been an amazing play for Tai. He just proved himself to his tribe last week by voting out Caleb, but presenting them with an Idol might have solidified his status further. That, and knowing that Hali was a loose cannon – who ultimately did end up voting with her tribe – the Idol play saved Tai’s alliance. It was a risky, game-changing move and had it failed, people would have been all over Tai for his poor game-play. But dude, it worked like a charm, so Tai should be given all the credit in the world for his gutsy use of the Idol, from sharing it with others, to how he ended up playing it and saving Sierra and his alliance in the process.
I’m not sure if Hali intended to blow up the game heading into Tribal Council, but we saw glimpses of why Brad Culpepper may not last very long, ultimately. The way that he spoke to Hali is what spurred her to object, which in turn led to all of the craziness. We’ve seen whispering at Tribal, but never people getting out of their seats and going over to others to whisper in their ears…and certainly not groups of players huddling up to discuss changing their voting intentions. What I loved most about it is just what Varner had said: This is an individual game right from the start, let’s not kid ourselves. It was great watching these individuals make moves that were all bold moves from their unique angles.
Brad is a power-player and in control at his tribe and was scrambling to get in better with Hali, whom he had cast to the side since she was of no use to him when it was just his tribe. Hali though, is not just going to sit there and look pretty, so why not shake the game up, especially after what Brad said to her at Tribal? Tai is really trying to prove himself as a trustworthy gamer this season, and playing the Idol was in his best long-term interest. JT was trying to play both sides by keeping his previous alliance with Brad strong, while also trying to put the wheels in motion to vote out Sandra. Yes, everybody was playing hard for their own interests, and the result was pure insanity.
When Hali finally consented to voting, to a bewildered and speechless Jeff Probst, the vote took place and the rest was history. Tai played his Idol on Sierra, debating whether or not he should play it on Brad instead (he chose wisely). From there, we saw all six votes cast towards Sierra, all of which were cancelled out with Tai’s Idol. It seemed like an hour before Probst got to the votes that mattered, and no one was more shell-shocked or emotionally destroyed than Malcolm. He literally had the game ripped away from him without warning, and became the fourth person to leave Game Changers.
So what the heck just happened? With all of the whispering back and forth, I do think that JT was at the center of what went down, although I also am pretty sure it didn’t go down exactly the way he expected it to.
JT has a history of shaking things up, like during Heroes vs. Villains when he gave Russell Hantz a note and a hidden Idol during an Immunity Challenge, even though they were on opposing tribes and had no prior conversations. Here, JT was making a bold play that could have worked out amazingly for him. We know that he is on a tribe that sees him as the first easy vote out. But he had groomed a strong relationship with Malcolm, and the two were in agreement that Sandra should go home soon. Having a strong prior alliance with Brad, JT’s hope was to have Brad vote out Sandra, doing his and Malcolm’s dirty work for them. This might have ticked a few people off, but had JT and Malcolm stayed tight, JT would have been in a much better position than, say, an episode ago. I don’t think that JT had ever thought it a possibility that Brad and others would target Malcolm instead of Sandra.
With that curve-ball being thrown, Brad pretty much also threw JT under the bus. As Aubry stated on the way out of Tribal and as next week’s preview alludes to, JT will be in hot water and now without an ally in Malcolm. The vote itself could turn JT against Brad and company, leaving JT without a real person to turn to in the game. His game just got royally screwed up…and it could have been so different, had Brad just voted out Sandra.
From Brad‘s perspective, though, this is a brilliant move. He just got rid of a huge physical and social threat in the game and had Tai play an Idol on behalf of his alliance. If JT somehow makes it to merge, he may have nowhere else to go other than aligning with Brad…and let’s not forget that JT has won this game and is a threat in his own right, and now has a massive target on his back, so should Brad end up reconnecting with him, Brad may be able to use JT as somewhat of a shield.
I’ve ran out of words to describe this Tribal Council, but I do know that this episode has reignited the fire of this season, and has left me anxiously awaiting next week’s episode. And to Malcolm, that was just brutal bro. If ever a player should get a fourth chance to play Survivor, let it be Malcolm.
Episode Take-Away: Survivor: Game Changers just put itself on the map as far as “great seasons” go. Sure, there is a lot of season to go, but this is the sort of Tribal Council that people will remember in the record books, capping off what was a great overall episode.
For all the flack that both Hali and Tai got coming into this season about not being “game changers,” I think they both finally answered their critics. Hali and Tai both changed the game in major ways: Tai nearly flipping this entire season on its head and Hali by instigating what many will consider a “Top 5 Ever” Tribal Council. It’s just a shame that the likable Malcolm was the one on the receiving end…he will be missed!
Strategic Move of the Week: So many to choose from but I have to give it to Tai: Finding an Idol, sharing it with his tribe and then ultimately choosing the right person to play it on ended up being the story of the episode, and just may propel Tai into a category that he has never yet been in: That of a respected Survivor game-changer.

Next Week’s Episode: JT is really on the hot seat following his actions at Tribal, and uh oh, Deb‘s “crazy” comes out as she’s seen shouting at pretty much anyone who’ll listen, including the person interviewing her in a testimonial. Should be a good one!
