Last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days was interesting. The desperation is real! You have to have just the right amount of delusion optimism to deal with some of these circumstances. I can’t understand how some of these people haven’t just walked away from these relationships. A green card or not being alone can’t be worth dealing with some of these clingy and overbearing people.
Stephanie Matto reveals a secret. Geoffrey Paschel follows his heart. Darcey Silva looks ahead to the future. David and Lana spend their last bit of time together. Ed Brown hopes for a second chance. Lisa Hamme and Usman Umar must say goodbye. Let’s get straight into the recap!
Geoffrey, 41 (Knoxville, Tenn.) & Varya, 30 (Russia)
When we last left Geoffrey, he was being confronted by his ex, Varya Malina and his current love interest Mary. After mishandling the situation, he then makes another bad decision to bring Varya to hang out with him and Mary’s friends. Well I can say one thing for Mary, she isn’t afraid to fight for a chance at love. She shows up at the bar and confronts Geoffrey about the situation. He has very little to say in his defense, because it’s clear he was using her as a rebound. Varya pulls Mary to the side to tell her to stay away from her man. When Mary refuses to comply, Varya storms out of the bar.
Geoffrey still has doubts about Varya, but it didn’t stop him from sleeping with her. The next morning, she asks him to stop talking to Mary. Geoffrey suggests they slowly ease back into things. This is basically code for I can’t promise I won’t sleep with Mary, once you leave. Later that night, Varya admits she wishes she could go back in time and accept Geoffrey’s proposal.
Geoffrey takes Varya to officially meet his sons. Things are a bit awkward at first. One of the boys was actually in the house, when Varya arrived and confronted his dad and Mary. But as the day progresses, it’s clear that everything has been forgiven. Varya wants things to move faster and insinuates she wants Geoffrey to propose again.
Its Varya’s last day in America after spending two weeks in Tennessee doing damage control. Geoffrey takes her to a spot where you can write down a wish and ring a bell to ensure it comes true. When she turns around, he is on one knee and proposes for the 2nd time. Only this time, she actually accepts.
Lisa, 52 (York, Pa.) & Usman “SojaBoy,” 30 (Nigeria)
After witnessing hurricane Lisa, Usman’s older brothers are confused by her behavior. Unbeknownst to them, they only saw a snippet of what Usman has been dealing with every day. Usman is extremely embarrassed and goes back to the room to confront his fiancé about her anger and control issues. Surprisingly, Lisa is very passive now that she realizes she still wants to get married. Despite the tantrum, he decides to still move forward with their wedding.
It’s the day of Usman and Lisa’s wedding, he dressed in African finery while she looks like she stepped straight out of the 80’s. For some reason, she decided not to wear a bra, which even Usman questioned. She claims she doesn’t want the straps to show. Ummm…have you ever heard of a strapless bra? During the ceremony, I couldn’t tell if it was a wedding or a funeral based on the looks on the family’s faces. Things are bit more lively at the reception, but his mother and eldest brother are not in attendance. I’m sad I won’t get to see their face when they find out she isn’t really a doctor.
Lisa is on her way back to America and she is extremely emotional about returning without her husband. Usman on the other hand is probably relieved to now be able to get back to his normal life for a while. She has had him trapped in the hotel with her all day, every day. Lisa vows to apply for the K1 Visa and bring him to the U.S. as soon as possible.
David, 60 (Nevada) & Lana, 27 (Ukraine)
David meets Lana for dinner to figure out if they are on the same page for their plans for the future. Just when I was about to scream about seeing that awful leather trench again, I realizes she also has bad taste in outerwear. He manages to convince her to leave the paid website they have been using to communicate with the past 7 years. Once she agrees, he presents her with a new cell phone to communicate directly with him.
Despite David firing the private investigator, he was sent links to all of the dating websites that Lana was using to meet men. Of course, David refuses to believe anything that will discredit the fairytale that he has embedded in his brain. He sarcastically sends a picture of him and Lana to the investigator, as if he has had the last laugh. The woman has barely spent any time with him and has used her nephew as the excuse. On his last day in Ukraine, Lana doesn’t even bother to answer the phone she was given to communicate with him. SMH… David, if you want to pay my bills, I’m willing to talk to you on the phone at least 15 minutes a day. Yeah, strike that, I don’t have the patience to deal with desperate people. I would probably be creeped out after talking to him once.
Lana arrives to go with David to the airport. I’m surprised she found the time in her busy schedule. During the ride, he tries yet again to get some clarity about their relationship. Lana gracefully dodges the question and he is forced to leave with no more of a promise than a phone call. At the last minute, he turns back and proposes to her in the middle of the airport. She actually says yes! Well let’s see how long that lasts. It’s obvious this woman doesn’t want to be bothered with David and is entertaining several men.
Ed, 54 (San Diego) & Rosemarie, 23 (Philippines)
After returning from the Philippines with a broken heart, Ed decides to make peace with his only daughter, Tiffany. The two have had a tumultuous relationship ever since he decided to pursue a relationship with Rose, who is younger than his daughter. Ed apologizes profusely to Tiffany for not listening to her concerns and admits she was right. After an emotional discussion, they both decide to mend their relationship.
Stephanie, 29 (New York) & Erika, 24 (Australia)
Stephanie has been back from Australia for the last few weeks and still hasn’t spoken to Erika Owens. Although the two are no longer in a relationship, Stephanie wants to finally come out to her mother. During dinner, her mother inquires as to why she seemed so sad when she picked her up from the airport. Stephanie uses this opportunity to tell the truth about the nature of her trip. Her mother is shocked and believes she may be confused due to the toxic relationships in the past. She also admits she envisions her daughter marrying a man, but she loves her regardless. I’m glad Stephanie was able to get some peace of mind, the poor girl was terrified that her sexuality would outcast her from her family.
Yolanda, 51 (Las Vegas, NV) & Williams, 40 (England)
Yolanda’s daughter hired a private investigator to convince her mother she is being scammed. She is still in communications with Williams, who text her out of the blue, to apologize for disappearing. After the investigator hears all of the information, he believes Yolanda is the victim of a catfishing scam. Duh! Hopefully he finds out more information, so we can see exactly who this degenerate is.
Darcey, 45(Connecticut) & Tom, 39 (England)
Just as Darcey is trying to move on with her life, she receives a text message from one of Tom Brooks’ friend and his mother. SMH… Didn’t this guy come to New York to break up with her and embarrass her? Didn’t he also then go meet his other girlfriend in Canada? Why the heck is he bothering Darcey again about their lack of a relationship? Hopefully she continues to remain strong. Her sister is planning a wedding and I’m sure Darcey is feeling the pressure to fall in love as well. But she seems to have made up her mind to never speak to Tom again. Thank goodness! Honestly, I think he just wants to be the one to end things and have the last word.
