How Phaedra Parks Used Makeup To Succeed on The Traitors

Phaedra Parks always looks so glamorous! And the glam worked in her favor during her time on The Traitors, with makeup helping her stay in the game.

While the Real Housewives of Atlanta comeback queen ultimately did not win the season, she did manage to hang on. And she looked flawless her entire time there.

During season 2 of the hit Peacock show, Phaedra was tapped as a Traitor. It was her mission to trick the Faithfuls. They had to believe she was one of them so that she and her fellow Traitors could steal the prize money and emerge victorious.

The game works with players voting to banish someone from the day at the end of each day. They attempt to banish a Traitor so that by the end only Faithfuls remain. At night, when everyone goes to bed, the Traitors come out to play to decide who to “murder” (i.e. send home). 

Phaedra outlasted some of her fellow Traitors. She told PEOPLE that her survival was largely thanks to a makeup hack that she used during her stay. 

She explained that fellow players began to suspect that whoever looked tired in the morning was probably a Traitor since they were up all night planning their devious deeds. So they looked closely at everyone and she had to make sure she looked fresh and rested.

“I was like, let me make sure to get up at 4 a.m. and have my eyes concealed and look absolutely amazing,” Phaedra explained. “Because people were looking so close at everyone in the mornings. When the girls would come in, if they looked a little haggard they would say, ‘She’s got to be a Traitor. She didn’t get any sleep. Look at the bags under her eyes.’ So when they’d say that I was like, ‘Oh my God, look, I’m so rested.’”

It’s a great way to use makeup to her advantage. Phaedra recently partnered with IT Cosmetics and considers herself an “amateur makeup artist” and self-proclaimed makeup “hack girl.” She confirms she did her own makeup for her time on Traitors.

“I did that makeup every day,” Phaedra said. “I did my makeup and most of the other cast’s makeup.” Whenever the other girls asked her to do their makeup, she’d reply, “Get in my chair.”

Below Deck Med’s Elena Dubaich Feels ‘Vindicated’ After Bri Muller’s Ongoing Laundry Issues

The mystery of the disappearing laundry plagued the interior crew on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9. Who was the culprit? Was it Third Stew, Bri Muller, who spent the majority of her time in the laundry room? Or was it Second Stew, Elena Dubaich, who also helped out in the laundry room from time to time? Chief Stew Aesha Scott was on the case and had a plan to figure out who was responsible. And this left Elena feeling vindicated by the results.

Throughout the season, both Bri and Elena struggled in the laundry room. Elena labeled the chef’s pants incorrectly, while Bri basically lost everyone’s laundry. However, Bri didn’t take accountability, as she thought Elena might have been sabotaging her. So she wore her best Mean Girls pink polo and wrote all the supposed crimes in her laundry burn book. Aesha had enough and moved Bri to clothes only and Elena to wash rags. 

As clothes continued to go missing, Elena felt like she could rest her case. Bravo’s The Daily Dish reported Elena’s feelings on laundry-gate. She said, “I kind of felt vindicated when people finally realized that it has been Bri all along. I kind of knew a little bit more about what’s actually going on with Bri because I was in laundry with her.” 

Elena continued, “And also, I was in the crew mess on quite a few occasions when people were actively talking about all their things missing. Even the engineer was looking for his bed sheets! Everybody was kind of complaining about things.” The crew did complain but kept it mostly to themselves as they didn’t want Bri to get in trouble with Captain Sandy Yawn. 

Believe it or not, Elena supported Bri in doing her job correctly. She said, “It’s not that I wanted Bri to fail; I just wanted people to know that it wasn’t my fault, even if I had messed up one time. I just need a moment of vindication, and then I can move on.” 

In the end, Elena felt that Bri used her as the fall guy for her laundry faux pas. She concluded, “She then began to kind of use me as a scapegoat for her own mistakes. At a certain point, I […] just needed to step away.” Mystery solved.

Julianne Hough Reflects on Coming Out as ‘Not Straight’ Five Years Later

Dancing with the Stars co-host Julianne Hough is looking back on her journey.

It’s been five years since the professional dancer admitted to being “not straight” in an interview. Her self-realization not only changed the way she looks at the world but, in some cases, affected the way other people see her.

“Not about being straight or gay or bi or queer”

“Coming out is one of the most vulnerable and empowering things that you can do,” Julianne said on the Aug. 27 episode of the Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast. “It’s not about being straight or gay or bi or queer. It’s more about … I’m just learning, like, what love is, and I love people, and I don’t know what I’m attracted to, but I choose you.”

“I was starting to see people and seeing their hearts and seeing their beauty and their essence coming through in a way that I was like, wow, I love people,” the Utah native said. “I don’t know if it’s a sexual attraction or a ‘this’ attraction, but I’m just seeing people. And that was such a beautiful revelation too.”

Julianne Hough’s marriage was “what I needed at the time”

Julianne first spoke about her sexuality in a 2019 interview with Women’s Health. At the time, she recalled telling then-husband Brooks Laich, “You know I’m not straight, right?”

“He was like, ‘I’m sorry, what?’” she continued. “I was like, ‘I’m not. But I choose to be with you.'”

Sadly, Brooks and Julianne divorced three years later after almost five years of marriage. But despite its ending, the singer/actress looks back fondly at that time. She admitted to Jamie Kern Lima that her marriage to the NHL hockey player was “the greatest thing that could have happened to me at that time.”

“What I needed at that time was to reconnect to my 10-year-old self,” the Grease Live star explained. “And what did I need at 10? I really needed safety and almost, like, a father figure to come in and be that grounding force of stability. So I think a lot of our dynamic was this little girl feeling and this stability and stable man to be there. He provided such a beautiful foundation for me to be a little girl.”

Even though they’re no longer married, Brooks will always hold a special place in her heart. “We are very important, special people in each other’s lives,” she continued. “We shared a really powerful season together … I know that I also brought a lot of things to his life … It has definitely felt like a mutual respect and love and period of growth for both of us.”

Dancing with the Stars Season 33 premieres on September 17 at 8/7c on ABC.
