‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen-X’ Episode 9 recap: Bombs away

108089_D56571b

108089_D56571b

Now that’s how you go down swinging!  Too often, we see players leave the game with a whimper, or even taking some key information with them to their Survivor grave (Michaela was criticized for not outing Jay‘s Idol just a few weeks ago).  But not tonight.  An explosive Tribal Council culminated in a #SurvivorBomb being dropped, and when the smoke cleared, we were left with just 11 contestants left.

Let’s get through tonight’s episode, shall we?  It was another good one, and while this season can be called many things, “predictable” is not one of them.

CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE, AND THIS IS YOUR LAST *SPOILER* WARNING!

Boom went the dynamite tonight, and it was “dumb surfer dude” Taylor on the receiving end.  Give it up to him though, because he left the game in impressive fashion, completely trying to blow up Adam‘s game.  Maybe Taylor was jacked up with energy from his stolen food, but he made a pretty convincing push at Tribal Council as to why they needed to get rid of Adam.  It may have been Taylor’s turn to go, but he did some pretty irreversible damage to Adam’s game, and we will surely see some lasting affects from this one as the season moves towards its conclusion.

108089_D54121b

But it almost wasn’t Taylor, or Adam, who was going home tonight.  Instead it was…Jessica?  Sunday, who has been flying under the radar thus far but who definitely seems like a savvy player, brought up Jessica’s name and wanted her gone.  She thought she could use Jay‘s vote (she still can) to blindside Jessica since Sunday and Jessica really have not been able to get close to one another.  Apparently, some old cracks in the Gen-X tribe still exist, with Sunday, Bret and Chris on one side and Ken, Jessica and David on the other.  Time will tell if this non-move will get back to Jessica but I think it was clearly a bit too early for Sunday to be thinking of going after one of her own.  She has the numbers right now, and if Jay really is close to Sunday, she can always rope him in to try to get Jessica out soon.  Sunday will need to tread lightly, because now Bret and Chris know what she might be capable of.

108089_D47778b

Information played a key role tonight, and knowing who to trust and who to stay loyal to.  The episode started off with Taylor and Adam agreeing to keep each other’s secret safe with them.  On one hand, Adam knew about Taylor’s hidden food stash, and for some dumb reason, Adam had shared with Taylor that he possesses a game advantage (the ability to steal a reward).  Once Taylor knew he was vulnerable at Tribal, he outed Adam’s advantage, but even went a bit further and told a white little lie, that Adam had shared in eating the food that was hidden (he did not).  Taylor’s strategy seemed to work, and like an animal backed into a corner, he was clawing and scratching and doing everything he could to shift attention on Adam.  It nearly worked.

The challenges weren’t all that compelling tonight, with the #RewardChallenge being a complete blow-out (the winners got to feast, or in Bret‘s case, get super drunk) and the #ImmunityChallenge was a test of concentration and balance, that wasn’t all that interesting despite the fact that I love that Ken won.  I don’t believe he spoke a word tonight, nor cracked a smile, he just showed up and dominated.  I like that guy.  The contestants were given a choice to sit the challenge out in exchange for food, and both Will and Zeke took Probst up on the offer.  A risky move, yes, and more so for Will, but both of them got to fill their bellies and both ended up safe this week.

At one point, Jay and Adam tried chatting in the water, but Adam does not have a graceful way with words and the conversation rubbed Jay the wrong way.  That would have been interesting had the two found a way to work together, as absolutely no one would have suspected such an alliance.

108089_D55172b

Jay gambled big-time at Tribal by choosing to hand on to his Idol, and it was a bold move that ended up being a great one for Jay.  He retains his Idol instead of wasting it, so not only does he live to fight another day, he does so with an Idol intact.  That leaves Will quite vulnerable as the easy target next week, but from the looks of it, the Gen-Xers are about to fall apart.

And in a brief little segment, the show continued the narrative from last week that Hannah is really enjoying coming into her own and playing the game.  For a minute tonight, I thought they were showing a bit too much of Hannah, and I feared for her safety.  But who right now is gunning for Hannah?  If she can build a resume, she could be a wise sleeper pick to win this thing.

108089_D51345b

Episode Take-Away:  I don’t think anyone is going to lose any sleep over the fact that Taylor was voted out, but even though he might have been the obvious boot headed into tonight’s ep, at least he put on a show at Tribal, one for the ages.  I think the development involving Sunday targeting Jessica is a big one, and one that will have serious repercussions moving forward.  Finally, the end is near for poor Adam, whose game quickly unraveled, much because of his own making.  He is now just blowing in the wind, but he does have an Idol and a game advantage, so even Adam can’t be written off just yet.

Strategic Move of the Week:  For me, this goes to Jay for his ballsy decision to not play his Idol.  He was a sitting duck down the road had he played it, and now he has a fighting chance.

Voted out this week:  Taylor

Won Immunity:  Ken

Vote:  7 – Taylor (Adam, Ken, David, Jay, Chris, Sunday, Zeke), 4 – Jay (Bret, Hannah, Will, Jessica), 1 – Adam (Taylor)

Next Week’s Episode:  Word gets out about Jay‘s Idol, while the Gen-Xers finally look to be imploding.  Join me back here next week and let’s do this all again, OK?

TELL US – ARE YOU HAPPY THAT TAYLOR WAS VOTED OUT?  WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON ADAM AND HIS GAME?  AND ARE YOU TEAM SUNDAY OR TEAM JESSICA?

Who Won Head of Household on Big Brother Last Night 11/16/2016?

The road to the Big Brother Over the Top finals won’t easy for any of the final five. It’s been eight very long BBOTT weeks for the players. They have had a house war all season. There has been petty behavior, malicious comments, and epic and losses. Now as we approach the end game, we may be in for a wild ride.

We have three members of the original Late Night Jamboree still in the game, Jason Roy, Kryssie Ridolfi, and Justin Duncan. The LNJ went into this week’s head of household competition right after losing one of their own: Danielle Lickey.

However, Justin had plotted with the Ball Smashers to get two of his former alliance members out of the BBOTT house. He is still playing the  middle. The remaining Ball Smashers are Shelby Stockton and Morgan Willett. Despite it being 3-2 odds, no one-well except Kryssie- is remaining completely loyal to their alliance members.

Morgan realizes that Shelby has positioned herself in a good spot to win the game. She doesn’t want to get the blood on her hands by getting Shelby out by her vote, but she knows it’s best for her game. Justin has constantly mentioned not trusting Jason. He wants him out the Big Brother Over the Top house.

img_2230

Jason knows that Justin hasn’t been loyal, and has a good chance of winning the game. He wants Justin out. So even if one side seems doomed this week, it all comes down to the veto.

This week’s HOH competition involved houseguests answering trivia questions to reduce their chances of falling off a post. The HOH competition started with the four players (Kryssie, Morgan, Justin, and Jason) answering seven trivia questions.

The had to choose between the answers males or females. After answering all the questions, they stood on one post. Every five minutes, Big Brother revealed an answer. Whoever answered incorrectly had to advance to a new post.

After all answers were revealed, players had to still advance every five minutes until they reached the last and smallest post.

By the end of the questions reveal, Justin and Jason had already been eliminated. It came down to Morgan versus Kryssie. They both made it to the final post, but Kryssie fell off soon after.

img_2241

Morgan won this week’s HOH competition! She advances to the final four.

Who Was Evicted on Big Brother Over the Top Last Night 11/16/2016?

Big Brother Over the Top sent another houseguest out of the house. Before, she or he left, their alliance tried to figure out where to go from here. The BBOTT Ball Smashers knew the rest of their Big Brother Over the Top game would be them playing the defensive game. They would have to win as many competitions as possible to stay afloat.

img_2220

The BBOTT Late Night Jamboree lucked out by being ahead in numbers most of the game. Going into this Big Brother Over the Top week, the Ball Smashers were at a 2-4 disadvantage. Luckily, Shelby Stockton was able to pull out the win.

This allowed her to–almost–keep Morgan Willett and her safe from eviction. However, America threw the ladies for a loop when they nominated Morgan, only days after giving her the care package.

Luckily Shelby won the POV, and she managed to make a new deal. She got Justin Duncan and Kryssie Ridolfi to agree to a new final four alliance. The Ball Smashers were serious about the new alliance. However, Kryssie wanted to stay loyal to the LNJ, especially Jason Roy.

Justin found himself changing his mind about his original alliance. He wanted to go to the end with Kryssie, but no longer wanted Danielle Lickey or Jason in the finals with him. He was completely fine taking Morgan and Kryssie to the end.

Shelby used the power of veto to remove Morgan from the block. Her having so much power this week let her secure her initial nominations of Danielle and Jason

Today, Shelby got her wish when Danielle left the Big Brother Over the Top house by an unanimous vote.

Dance Moms Recap: New Beginnings

dance moms moms

dance moms team

Is it bad that I’ve decided that yet another hour long Dance Moms episode means that something is right with the world? Perhaps that was Steven Collins’ plan all along with that slew of ninety minute ridiculousness! Either that, or I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Thirty Year Old Grandma!

On last night’s show, the veteran mothers made good on their threat to look elsewhere for training, and Abby Lee Miller threw yet another tantrum. It was pretty amazing, to be honest. In light of Abby’s legal woes and mounting erratic behavior, the women decide to rent out their own studio. The elite team is ecstatic, and Kira gifts the girls with a new team jacket. She’s enlisted a rival dance instructor and famed choreographer given the girls will be performing at a competition with the ALDC minis. Kalani Hilliker is thrilled to be working with Erin, and the entire team seems to have a renewed confidence. An added bonus? No pyramid!

CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE!

The mothers, who ironically complain about Abby being glued to social media all day, decide to enact some revenge by posting a picture of the elites working with Erin. Hashtag, new beginnings, beatches! As the photo quickly gains momentum on the interwebs, the mini moms sit in fear at the ALDC. How is Abby going to react to this news? Not only have the elite girls found another studio, they are dancing under Abby’s nemesis (well, one of them at least). I guess Debbie Allen was busy? The mini moms are concerned that Abby is going to take out these new frustrations on their girls. One of the mothers volunteers to go look for Abby, who is sobbing uncontrollably in a back room. The mother tries to console Abby, but Abby throws things at her and demands that she leave. Abby reveals that she loves the elite girls like her own and would lay down in the road for them. Weird how that hasn’t come across this season…

dance moms moms

A singer who has supplied many songs for the ALDC calls Holly Frazier about an upcoming show. She invites Nia to open for her and sing back up vocals on one of her numbers. Holly is thrilled at the opportunity and asks if Kendall can join Nia. After all, she is trying to get a music career off the ground as well. Of course! The more the merrier. Jill Vertes seems a bit dumbfounded, albeit grateful, that Holly would think to include Kendall. Jill is more accustomed to mothers belittling other girls to make their daughters look better. That’s her style. Regardless, she knows Kendall is going to freak out about singing in front of a live audience, but she’d better get used to the idea if she wants to be a star!

Dance Moms new studio

Back at the ALDC, Abby has dried her tears and wrangled the minis. The mini moms are confused by this mood makeover, but at least Abby is showing an interest in their daughters. Alexus, Peyton, and one of the -ianas are granted solos, and the mini team will be performing a lyrical group number. Peyton’s dance focuses on trash. This should be entertaining! As Abby works with the minis on their group routine, they mothers whisper about the elites’ succession from the ALDC. Is Abby’s no nonsense attitude the calm before the storm? Have they ever watched this show before??

Nia is in the studio working on a ballad. She has never sung a ballad live, but she would like to feel confident enough to perform it as her opening number. Holly knows that Nia wants to prove she can be a star without Abby’s “help.”  As Nia discusses what the song means to her, she is so articulate and respectful, throwing minimal shade at Abby. However, in the booth, her nerves overtake her as she tries to reach the high notes. Back at the ALDC, Abby is working with Peyton on “I Love Trash.” Abby informs Peyton that she will be trash in this number. The mom of one of the -ianas is just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

At the new studio, the girls are excited to be working with Will, the choreographer who is going to be giving them edgier solo routines. Will is very zen, and he’s focused on the girls using their love of dance to interpret their individual solos. He is extremely positive, and watching Kendall work with Will reminds Jill of how her daughter used to perform when she started with the ALDC and wasn’t the victim of Abby’s negativity. Ashlee and Kira are equally pleased with the new instructor. Across town, Elliana is working on her solo. Abby compares it to a Maddie dance, but she cites that Elliana lacks Maddie’s expressive face and beautiful eyes. Likewise, Alexus is criticized for her stubby legs. Yolanda predicts that Peyton will be able to swoop in and beat her teammates. And damn if I didn’t learn their names. Curses!

Dance Moms blurry mini

Over champagne, the veteran mothers are the most chill they’ve been in seasons. Kira reveals that she received a call from Maddie and MacKenzie’s mom Melissa wanting the details of the defection after getting a text from Abby requesting a shoulder to cry on because the situation. The moms laugh at all the crap Abby has talked about Melissa and her girls in their absence and cite the laundry list of reasons as to why they left. The following day, the girls meet with the musicians to learn the song they will be performing as back-up singers. The moms have decided that they will just take the studio time week by week, especially given that Abby will be learning her fate regarding her prison sentence soon. Speaking of, Abby reminds the minis that her reputation is on the line and her career is being scrutinized. Peyton is struggling with her number so Abby has her rehearse in her costume. When Peyton’s mom takes issue with her daughter’s costume is covered in actual trash (including a maxi pad!!), Abby promptly kicks Peyton out of the group number and cancels her solo.

The veteran moms are over the moon with their girls’ group routine and can’t wait to watch Nia and Kendall perform their music before the competition. However, they are a bit shocked to see the mini mothers at the venue (read: fake bar) to show their support. Peyton’s mom explains trash gate, and Ashlee feigns sympathy. Kira warns the mini moms that if they don’t present a united front to Abby about keeping Peyton in the group routine, they aren’t a true team. Abby herself then burst onto the scene, with loud passive aggressive commentary. The elite girls hadn’t prepared for this awkwardness or her fakeness as she talks about canceling auditions for the elite girls and how tacky it is that the moms have allowed their daughters in a bar. At least they aren’t drinking! After her glitches in the studio, Nia totally rocks her ballad on stage. Abby rolls her eyes and asks if she’s lip syncing. Next, Kendall and Nia join the band, and Jill is nervous for her daughter, and the added nerves that Abby’s presence brings. She shouldn’t worry–they both do an amazing job. Holly is fuming that Abby doesn’t congratulate the girls, so she confronts her in hopes that Abby will take the high road. Instead, Abby belittles Kendall’s participation.

Kristen Doute On How She’s Changed And Why This Season Of Vanderpump Rules Is Her Favorite

VANDERPUMP RULES -- Season:5 -- Pictured: Kristen Doute -- (Photo by: Tommy Garcia/Bravo)

Kristen Doute

Kristen Doute swears she is a whole new girl, and because of that, this season of Vanderpump Rules is her favorite one yet. Considering how every other season has literally been in the toilet of the SUR bathroom for Kristen, I can’t imagine how things could get any worse?

According to Kristen, season five “feels like a throwback to season one with everyone being back together.”

Kristen insists she has learned from her mistakes. “It was a huge wake up call seeing this stuff on TV,” she describes. Unfortunately, many fans are “still stuck on ‘Crazy Kristen’ and ‘Why are you trying to stalk Tom Sandoval and trying to break up Ariana and Tom?’ It’s like, that was four years ago!” laments Kristen. “There’s been a change.”

CLICK THE CONTINUE READING BUTTON FOR MORE!

“I’m not proud of all of the decisions that I’ve made, but I think that it really was for the benefit of all of us when I lost a lot of my friends a couple of years ago, because it put me in a rock bottom place,” Kristen explains. “I had to take a hard look at myself and become more self-aware. With that, I was able to make healthier changes for myself, which has resulted in getting these friendships back.”

I find it kind of hilarious that for Kristen and most of the Vanderpump Rules cast their focus on friendships and maintaining the status quo of the group is everything, so achieving that, they feel they’re mature and grown-up. Anyway…

Anyway, although her friendships are “back,” Kristen promises they’re better and different.

One relationship that has certainly gone through the ringer is Kristen’s friendship with Stassi Schroeder. “It definitely took some time, and we started talking little-by-little a couple of years ago, eventually when she was able to really get over Jax and not care about him anymore and become self-aware in her own place, she was able to then forgive me. I’m grateful that it worked out.”

Even Kristen’s relationship with Lisa Vanderpump has improved – finally! Noting that she and Lisa are “both stubborn,” Kristen believes getting fired was “the healthiest thing that could’ve happened for both Lisa and I.”

“It was just becoming very tough for me, and it made it even tougher for Lisa, because she had to deal with the backlash of my actions,” she acknowledges. “But I’ve grown up, and I have the utmost respect for Lisa.”

All that lovey-dovey stuff is nice, but we just want to know what’s up with the drama this season. And does Kristen continue to have issues with Tom and Ariana?

RELATED – Lala Dishes All The Pump Rules Dirt & Who’s The Dirtiest

Kristen dishes that “a lot of relationships between the core cast that are going to be interesting for the viewers.”

“I don’t want to give too much away,” she continues, “but people are going to be talking to each other that you might not totally expect. I also think the guys cried more this season than the girls.” Kristen reveals that the Toms cry the most – of course – and “there were more, like, guy-fights. It was kind of strange.”

Of course there is still drama with James and Lala, which we’ve already gotten a glimpse of. “We kind of really stood strong and banded together to protect each other from them,” Kristen tells AOL. “I made it my personal mission to be Katie’s bodyguard.”

Kristen’s boyfriend Carter will also be a big part of the show, and their relationship is still stable. “For him, it was kind of a crazy thing to have to jump into. He’s known most of the cast for so many years, though — I was probably one of the only people he didn’t already know — and I think that made it a lot easier for him. She also swears that fame hasn’t impacted her outlook – or anyone else’s. “We’re still the same people,” insists Kristen. “We’re all so honest, and not all reality shows are ‘real.’ Our show is really the only one that, I feel, is completely genuine.”

“We weren’t cast,” adds Kristen. She has been surprised and happy by how invested fans have become to the relationships. “And, listen, we put ourselves out there, and we know what to expect: People are going to have opinions, but it’s nice when people are able to realize we aren’t one-dimensional and that you don’t see everything on the show.”

Tom Schwartz And Katie Maloney Support An Animal Charity; Open Up About Life As Newlyweds

Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz charity

We’ve seen Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney grow up a lot over the years on Vanderpump Rules. They went from background cast to the main players. They overcame a shit ton of drama and now they are mature married folks – or at least they are in this instance. Tom and Katie opened up about their life as newlyweds and they have lent their time and faces to support an animal charity.

Clearly they’re taking a cue from Lisa Vanderpump by helping out the animals and I am sure that she is proud of them. And as of now it doesn’t seem like Tom and Katie have any marital drama, then again they just got married. Hopefully this remains the case.

In an interview with E! News, Tom and Katie seemed like a super together couple. Long gone are the days of making out with other people and pouring drinks on each other’s heads. Maybe I shouldn’t have even brought that up, but whatever, it was on TV. My point is that they really do seem like they are in a good place.

When asked how it felt to be married, Tom said, “It feels good. I like it. It took some getting used to. It still feels strange calling her my wife. I’m proud.” In addition to that typical, yet super endearing, rambling that has become pretty standard for Schwartz, he did also say “Being husband and wife is powerful.”

These two have definitely had their share of ups and downs. I mean, we all remember that cringe-worthy moment when he gave her a ring on a string. I felt the pressure for him to propose through the TV screen, so they must be relieved to finally be husband and wife. Katie explained, “There is an overall sort of shift in the dynamic in a way that the pressure is off. We are just starting the rest of our lives together. It was a long road to get here and we are just sort of embracing that we’ve overcome so much and remain committed and in love.”

Tom also teased a wedding surprise: “I do not use this word lightly, but it was bliss. It was perfect. I want to tell you, I had the best surprise of my life happen there. I want to tell you, but I can’t.” Katie added, “It’s better to watch it obviously.” Which obviously I am beyond excited to see. I cannot help being into this show.

Not only are these two killing it as a couple these days, but they are also being decent human beings with their charitable efforts, which Katie posted about on Instagram. They are a part of a campaign for an organization called A is for Animals that “is doing amazing things for the lives of animals around the world” according to Katie’s caption.

Katie encouraged her followers to “check out their page and website,” adding, “They have loads of awesome shirts like these and a portion of proceeds go to charities around the world! Get involved and spread the love!”

Tom and Katie have really grown into their own. It’s nice to see, but if you’re not up for hearing about all that marital bliss and emotional maturity, I feel like there will still be a lot of drunk fights in the episodes leading up to the wedding.

Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen-X Episode 9 Preview: ‘Still Throwin’ Punches’

Survivor preview

Survivor preview

Well, it’s been over one week since the Election, and the world has yet to end (give it time). But tonight on Survivor, one of the remaining 12 contestants will see their torches snuffed, bringing their game and their dreams of winning one million dollars to an abrupt, shocking end.

Let’s get primed and ready for tonight’s new episode, as we continue barreling towards the end (of the season).

PLEASE CLICK THE “CONTINUE READING” BUTTON FOR MORE!

Tonight is the second post-merge episode, following the blindside of Michelle last week. She found herself in an unfortunate spot, as Adam and Jay were gunning for each other, and fearing that Jay might have or use an Idol, Adam and his Gen-X “voting bloc” decided instead to target Michelle. She was aligned with Jay and Taylor, even though she had apprehensions about voting out fellow Millennial Adam. A line has now been drawn in the sand, but judging on the episode of tonight’s new episode, this game is far from over.

Here is the official episode synopsis from CBS:

Episode 9 – “Still Throwin’ Punches”– Two castaways with secrets about each other use them as leverage in the game, while another refuses to “drop the ball” when individual immunity is on the line, on SURVIVOR, Wednesday, Nov. 16(8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS.

Survivor

It’s clear now that Jay, Taylor and Will are in the minority alliance, with Hannah and Adam most likely next in line.

The Gen-Xers on the other hand, are sitting pretty, as is Zeke, who probably has the most to lose moving forward. He’s square in the middle of several voting blocs and alliances, and therefore is seemingly in a great spot, but he will eventually have to make some decisions that might get people quite pissed at him. He’s banking right now on the fact that nobody else is talking to one another, which is a risky strategy, but when it works (Boston Rob), it usually is a winning recipe. But if the others begin chatting and comparing notes, or if Zeke pushes or overplays his cards, he might be in serious trouble. Luckily for Zeke fans, I don’t see that happening just yet.

Tonight all of the attention will be on Adam, who is firmly the target of Jay and Taylor, and it will be on the Gen-Xers to really decide who goes next…and Adam might be a target as well. Don’t forget that Adam, Jay, and Zeke all possess Idols at the moment, that Jessica has the “legacy advantage,” and that Adam also has the ability to steal someone’s reward, so I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: There is still a lot of game left to be played.

The Fans Have Spoken. The message boards were live last week, mainly discussing whether or not Adam was stupid for sharing the knowledge of his new “reward steal” power with Taylor. Most thought he was. It’s clear that Taylor is not exactly a fan-favorite, not on this site anyways. But Adam’s decision definitely looks like it will come back to bite him, judging by the preview video of tonight’s new episode, which you can watch below.

Be sure to join me back here late tonight for the recap!
