Summer House Recap: ’90s Child

Sometimes the narrative on Summer House can feel a little, well, stop-and-start. Since the cast only gets together on the weekends, we occasionally have to contend with editing that leaves a montage in the middle of the episodes between subsequent weekends. Sometimes this works to a storyline’s advantage. Like last episode when Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula tearfully made up on a Thursday afternoon. Other times, it makes the episode feel…clunky. And that’s unfortunately what we get this week. But hey, no summer is perfect, right?

The episode kicks off immediately in the wake of Craig Conover‘s bombshell revelation that he’s hooked up with Kristin Cavallari. (Last name redacted, of course.) This is devastating news to Paige DeSorbo. But do we really believe him? First of all, I love my sweet Craigy more than most, but Kristin has repeatedly denied hooking up with either him or Austen Kroll on multiple occasions. And when you take a step back and think about it, the Southern Charm-er is really the one with the most reason to lie. Or exaggerate. Or whatever. Because saying he’s hooked up with Kristin not only makes Paige jealous, it gives him major street cred. Do I think Craig and Kristin have ever drunkenly kissed? Sure, maybe. But do I think they’ve had sex? I’d say that’s highly unlikely.

Still, the night ends on a weird note. And so everyone needs to hit the reset button the next morning. But even though she woke up in his bed, Paige is still left feeling unsettled about where she really stands with Craig. And Lindsay Hubbard isn’t even on speaking terms with the Charmer after throwing him under the bus the night before. The best way to shake off these weird vibes? By hitting a bourgeois pool party at Capri Southampton. The gang has a private cabana and the largest bottle of rosé ever seen. There’s a violinist in board shorts instead of a DJ. Mya Allen has to teach Kyle how to properly pronounce spanakopita. It’s a whole Hamptons vibe.

Lindsay spends her time at the party determined to pick up a 38-year-old Greek man named Chris at the bar. Kyle‘s on his best behavior while Amanda‘s willfully choosing not to look for red flags that she shouldn’t get married. And Danielle Olivera‘s partying harder than anyone and ordering shots for the entire pool. However, eventually the drama from the night before can’t help but rear its head as both Lindsay and Craig rehash their sides of the argument to different parties. And poor Paige is left trying to hide that she’s upset at the thought of Craig hooking up with someone else.

By the time the roommates come back to the house, Danielle is very drunk. Like, falling asleep outside in a pool chair drunk. In fact, the only thing that wakes her up is a FaceTime from Luke Gulbranson. Our favorite Minnesota model is alive! He’s been entirely absent from the first three episodes of the season, hiding out in his home state for the Fourth of July. But Luke promises he’ll be back in time for the next weekend. The crew will finally be complete!

While Mya leads dinner preparations, Ciara Miller pulls Lindsay outside for a chat. She wants to get to the bottom of the accusations Craig was throwing out the night before about HubbHouse and Austen. Specifically that they’ve been secretly dating for the past four years while continuing to see other people. Because that definitely wasn’t how things appeared during Winter House. And it would definitely throw a major wrench in Ciara’s already complicated feelings for the Trop Hop founder. However, Lindsay insists that she’s fully single and couldn’t be more over any ideas of romance her one-time bestie. She promises Ciara that nothing has happened since they all left Vermont. End of discussion.

And while Amanda is taking Craig to task in the kitchen for embarrassing her friend over the Kristin drama, Paige is upstairs getting some revenge of her own. Namely in Andrea Denver whisking her up the stairs and throwing her on her bed. Yes, Ciara happens to be there already, but that doesn’t stop the Italian from finally stealing a kiss from his favorite fashionista. That’s how being non-exclusive works, right Craigy? All’s fair in love and war between millennials…

summer house recap season 6 episode 4 luke gulbranson '90s party y2k earring bad boy

After a family dinner of lasagna, Mya spends the evening bonding with Carl Radke while all the rest of the housemates hit the hot tub. And before you know it, Sunday morning arrives and the weekend is over. Here’s where we get the Monday-through-Friday montage that essentially cuts the episode in half. We see Kyle taste-testing a new Loverboy flavor (strawberry lemonade!). Mya introduces viewers to her dogs, Garlic Aoli and Bucatini, and her at-home cookie business The Knead. And Paige updates her mom on all the drama happening in her love triangle. (The DeSorbo matriarch is rooting for Andrea, for the record.)

The next weekend marks Amanda‘s 30th birthday, and the roommates are celebrating with a ’90s-themed bash. Or maybe it’s Y2K. No one really knows. Basically between the decorations, Cosmic Brownies and everyone’s outfits, it feels like an attempt at recreating an episode of TRL. Lindsay kicks off the gift-giving with a perfectly on-theme present: a pogo stick. And turns out Amanda is kind of a pogo stick master? By the time Luke gifts her with a sweet donation in her name to the animal shelter where she fosters puppies, it dawns on Kyle that he didn’t get his fiancée a gift. For her 30th birthday. This is bad.

summer house recap season 6 episode 4 alex wach ciara miller spin the bottle make out

With Craig gone, all of Paige‘s attention can now be focused on Andrea. Which works to the model’s advantage during a rowdy game of spin the bottle. Lindsay accosts Ciara, and Paige also kisses the birthday girl. But the real highlight of the game is when Alex Wach‘s spin lands on Ciara…and it turns out the newly christened New Yorker isn’t all that mad about it! Turns out the newbie has a good set of lips when you’re not distracted by all that muscle. In Ciara’s own words, the kiss has officially turned the personal trainer into a “contender.”

After the game, the party sort of dissipates with the roommates retreating to different corners of the house to eat their Ring Pops and gossip. But the problem remains that Kyle never booked the romantic birthday getaway he was planning to give Amanda for her birthday. And we’re now at the tail end of the party. Paige launches into emergency mode to save her bestie’s birthday. And even goes as far as booking a trip for Kyle to the Bahamas. But even that’s a no-go when Kyle realizes you need a passport to get there. (His expired during the pandemic.)

Of course by the end of the night, the anxiety over turning 30 the following day hits Amanda like a wrecking ball. She’s suddenly in tears worrying about whether everyone really had fun or the party felt forced. And she doesn’t even know that Kyle doesn’t have a gift yet. Paige, Ciara and Mya try to help her rally, and it seems to be working. Well, until Paige goes to get a water and gets abducted by Andrea for a secret makeout. Because spin the bottle wasn’t enough for the Italian Stallion. The episode ends with Amanda’s 30th ticking closer and both her fiancé and best friend nowhere to be seen…

TELL US – DO YOU THINK CRAIG IS TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT KRISTIN? WERE YOU HAPPY TO SEE LUKE FINALLY RETURN? IS THERE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN ALEX AND CIARA? WILL KYLE BE ABLE TO RECOVER FROM NOT GETTING AMANDA A GIFT?

Celebrity Big Brother 2022 Week 3 Nominations (02/08/22)

The moment Miesha Tate took the Head of Household crown, Cynthia Bailey and Carson Kreesley were not in a good position in the Celebrity Big Brother 3 game. Miesha made attempts last week to get HOH Chris Kirkpatrick to nominate Carson, but he wanted to play the middle and get some goodwill with Cynthia and Carson by not taking the shot that Todrick Hall and Miesha wanted to take so badly. Things aren’t looking good for Carson if he doesn’t pull out another Power of Veto victory.  This Celebrity Big Brother 2022 season could quickly become one-sided if Carson and Cynthia don’t find a way to stay in the game.

Big Brother Nominations

The “Athletes Alliance” could easily dominate Celebrity Big Brother 2022, especially the Miesha and Todrick power duo. All eyes will be on the upcoming Power of Veto competition to see if Cynthia or Carson can save their alliance and the only two people that are really willing to make a move against Todrick and Miesha.

Chris Kirkpatrick and Shanna Moakler have spoken about making a big move against them, but when they had a chance during Monday’s Celebrity Big Brother episode, they decided to make the safe move. This move benefited them at the moment because if they took out Todrick, Shanna would have likely still won HOH and took out Chris Kirkpatrick or Shanna next.

So during this week’s Celebrity Big Brother 2022 nomination ceremony, Miesha stuck to her plan to take out Carson or Cynthia.

Miesha nominated Carson and Cynthia for eviction.

Below Deck Season 9 Reunion Recap: Shape Up or Ship Out

Is this really necessary? I have to admit that was my first thought as I sat down for the Below Deck Season 9 Reunion. It’s sort of how I always feel about a one-part reunion. How much can there really be worth talking about? Especially if we can fit it all into 44 minutes. And I wonder if Bravo’s feeling the same way. Because honestly, the network seems to be basically phoning the reunion in at this point. There was no trailer for it. No promotion of any kind. We didn’t even get the usual reunion look rundown ahead of it airing.

And yet, the gang’s (mostly) all here, beaming into the Clubhouse in their tiny Brady Bunch squares. Virtual reunions are thankfully a thing of the past when it comes to Housewives, but it seems they’re the new norm for the Below Deck franchise. Guess production decided it was easier (and cheaper) to trust that each cast member had a reliable wifi connection rather than fly them all to New York from all over the world, build a set, and everything else. Disappointingly, Andy Cohen‘s not even dressed in a slightly nautical-themed, striped sweater this time!

The first thing Andy wants to discuss are the season’s boatmances, throuples and first-ever boy-on-boy make outs. But considering Jake Foulger, whose mustache was integral to 90 percent of the trysts, isn’t in attendance, the topic is a little dead in the water. Everyone seems to agree that the lead deckhand’s off-camera engagement wasn’t for anything but a green card which makes the debate over fidelity and monogamy pretty much null and void. Fraser Olender‘s happy to report that he and Jake are still good friends, but slyly dodges a cheeky question about whether they ever ended up hooking up after the charter season wrapped. And Wes O’Dell sweetly chalks up his lack of game with Jessica Albert to wanting to make sure a kiss would be consensual.

Third Stew Blues

below deck season 9 reunion recap heather chase fraser olender jessica albert interior

Time to talk about the drama in the interior. And a lot of that swirled around Jess. The third stew walking out midseason caused the majority of the chaos within the department. And now Jess is blaming her misery during filming on having anxiety with all the cameras being around. She claims she lost 15 pounds from the time she stepped aboard M/Y Seanna to the day she quit. And also points the finger at Heather Chase for setting her up to fail for putting her on service. Which is…weird because service is a key part of a stew’s job? Does Jess know that? But these days she’s left yachting, opting instead to work in sales and catering at a beach resort in her beloved southwestern Florida.

Kaylee Milligan also makes a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance for the crew to discuss the tension surrounding her arrival on the boat. In retrospect, Fraser recognizes that he was simply feeling out of the loop about Jess‘ replacement. Which on a team of two means that Heather was making the decision without even trying to consult or discuss with him. And he gets an apology out of her for that, admitting she should have come to him about bringing her bestie on board much sooner. OK, bye Kaylee!

A Galley Well Done

below deck season 9 reunion recap chef rachel hargrove

If anyone was Captain Lee Rosbach‘s favorite this season, it was Rachel Hargrove. And the all-star chef is treated to her very own package that covers everything from annoying guest requests and blended foods to all the magic she cooked up in the galley. Lee’s always quick to sing Rachel’s praises, especially considering how well she redeemed herself from last season. But the rest of the crew unanimously agrees that she’s by and large the most talented yacht chef they’ve ever worked with.

Now, that’s not to say Rachel was without her share of challenges this season. Despite one guest’s idiotic preference sheet demand, the outspoken chef is here to educate the masses that fish and shellfish mean completely different things in the culinary space. I mean, I don’t even eat seafood and I know that. She also forces the crew to relive the stomach-churning memories of the primary whose jaw was wired shut and required all of her food be served through a straw. Out of everything she blended up that charter, Rachel counts pureed oysters as the worst of the worst.

Debacles on Deck

below deck season 9 reunion recap captain lee rosbach eddie lucas rayna lindsey wes o'dell deck team

Out of all the departments, however, no one struggled this season as much as the deck team. And when asked by Andy to point the finger, Captain Lee lays the blame on himself. Sure it was a hard transition for Eddie Lucas to jump from bosun to first officer. And Jake may have gotten a bit ahead of himself when he was first named lead deckhand. But ultimately the captain claims it was his responsibility to help solve the litany of organizational and common sense problems that plagued his deck crew. Considering he’s invested so much in Eddie, he’s not about to throw the future captain out to sea.

Interestingly, Rayna Lindsey‘s constant eye-rolling is addressed. But her feet aren’t really held to the fire over any of the problems she caused within the team. I personally would’ve liked to hear some explanation for all the tantrums and emotional breakdowns over being complimented and given any kind of responsibility. Later during the reunion, the junior stew says she has nothing but respect for Eddie, but it certainly didn’t seem that way most of the time she was at work.

Words That Should Never Be Said

below deck season 9 reunion recap rayna lindsey n-word f-word

Finally, it’s time to talk about the controversy no one really wants to discuss. The the never-ending n-word feud between Rayna and Heather. And since it hung over most of the season, Bravo dedicates a full 14 minutes of the reunion to the topic. Rayna mostly reiterates things she’s said previously on Watch What Happens Live. That she accepted Heather’s initial apology because she wanted to co-exist cordially in the workspace. And that she was hyper-conscious of falling into the trope of the angry Black woman in front of the cameras.

But then Rayna decides to drag a whole other slur into the conversation. She claims Eddie called her out for using the f-word multiple times while drunk in one of their heart-to-hearts on deck. The deckhand vehemently denies every saying such a thing. And though Andy plays the unseen footage of Eddie bringing it up, production couldn’t corroborate his claim after combing through the footage. In fact, cameras only caught the gay slur being used once, and decided not to air it. Lee also adds to the conversation by revealing that there was a full-scale investigation among the yacht crew and production about the whole n-word debacle, and that everyone just needs to move forward and learn from the gross moment.

One thing that hasn’t been resolved is Wes‘ hurt feelings over Rayna calling him “white” and “not Black” for disagreeing with her during her final confrontation with Heather. Poor Wes shrugs it off, saying he get accusations like that all the time for being mixed race. And infuriatingly, Rayna isn’t held accountable at all for it. Wes says he would rather talk privately off-camera, but Rayna doesn’t even offer so much as a simple “I’m sorry” for turning so viciously on her ally. Andy eventually gives the final word to both Heather and Rayna to put the issue to rest. And while Heather once again sincerely apologizes and Rayna accepts it, do we really believe her at this point?

Closing out the reunion, Captain Lee gives his gold star to Wes for having the best work ethic among the crew. And Fraser reveals he’s now working as a chief stew. So hey Bravo, maybe bring him back next season as the first male chief stew in Below Deck history? Just think about it.

TELL US – DID THIS SEASON NEED A REUNION? DO YOU BELIEVE JESS WAS MISERABLE BECAUSE OF THE CAMERAS? WAS LEE TO BLAME FOR THE DECK TEAM’S ISSUES? SHOULD RAYNA HAVE BEEN HELD MORE ACCOUNTABLE FOR HER TREATMENT OF WES? WHO DO YOU WANT TO RETURN NEXT SEASON?

Celebrity Big Brother 3: Episode 5 Recap – A Second Celebrity Is Voted Out

The fifth episode of Celebrity Big Brother 3 was a fairly straight-forward one. There wasn’t a lot of drama (unless you count Chris Kattan stumbling through the dark, presumably on his way for more cake), there was a very uneventful and obvious POV Competition and then finally the vote to evict. This was the season’s second live episode and eviction, but the first time that the POV comp was played out live. There were no surprises, no real suspense, and ultimately, it felt pretty lackluster…things will surely get more interesting later this week when we’ll see who exactly comes out as the next HOH, and which faction of the house comes to power.

But the early portion of Episode 5 showed a bit more about how confident Chris Kirkpatrick was in ensuring that his reign of being HOH went the way that he wanted it to. Miesha Tate and Todrick Hall both put some heavy pressure on him to consider targeting Carson Kressley, even as a back-door option, but Kirkpatrick held firm in his belief that getting rid of Mirai Nagasu was best for his personal game. Miesha could have approached this a bit differently (perhaps instead put pressure on Mirai earlier in the week and tell her she needs to start spending time with Kirkpatrick?), but her direct approach clearly was unsuccessful.

There was an annoying tie-in to a movie during this ep, the upcoming Jennifer Lopez rom-com, “Marry Me,” which also was utilized as the theme for the live POV comp. It came down to a tie-breaker between Todrick and Shanna Moekler, but Todrick’s guess went over the correct number, making Shanna the winner of the POV. Because of her Final Two alliance with Kirkpatrick, this all but guaranteed that his nominations of Chris Kattan and Mirai would hold, and she confirmed this when she decided not to use the POV and keep noms the same.

The vote itself was fairly straight-forward – as Mirai was unanimously voted out. The only one shocked by this was Chris Kattan, who had pretty much conceded his game while giving a speech prior to the vote. Kattan repeatedly said it was “time to move on” for him, and seemed very ready to get the hell out of this game. Even after Mirai walked out the doors, he seemed sincerely stunned that he was still in the house.

Unlike some of the other houseguests, Kattan‘s presence in the house is being portrayed as a butt of some weird joke, with no effort to humanize him or build him up. Lamar Odom by contrast, is in desperate need of some image rehabilitation with all that he’s been through, and we have been getting sweet, vulnerable human moments from him thus far…tonight’s episode contained a touching segment where Lamar spoke about the six-month-old son that he lost to SIDS. We don’t get any human moments with Kattan, just him being weird, sleeping, stumbling out of bed, sneaking late-night cake, and generally just being portrayed as a clueless buffoon. I’ve begun pitying the poor man, who tonight genuinely seemed relieved at the prospect that he could finally go home. As Mirai confessed to Julie Chen Moonves in her exit interview, she grew very close to Kattan in the house and they will remain friends on the outside. Like, where was this for the TV viewing audience not following the show on the live feeds? I was even ashamed of Julie for a moment when during the interview she asked the question to Mirai, “Are you going to remain friends outside of the house…with Chris Kattan?” Really emphasizing his name as if this would be a crazy and hilarious thought. Leave the poor guy alone already!

Now on the other hand, the reality-TV-competition-lover in me absolutely hates watching him trip his way through Big Brother. I guess there is some sort of weird pleasure in watching a celebrity or two not know anything about the game that their agent probably told them would be a good idea for them to take part in. But really, wouldn’t it be much more satisfying to have a house full of players who gave a damn, who respected the show and what it means to people, and who took their part in it seriously? Chris Kattan – and I’d add, Todd Bridges and Lamar Odom – really have no business being on this show. At least Bridges and Odom are participating in the game, and seem to be learning about how things work. Kattan may have to wait until the very end to get his wish to go home, because players as oblivious as him are usually perfect candidates for those in-the-know to take to the end, knowing they have less than a zero chance of actually winning.

Mirai ultimately was unanimously voted-out, which means that Miesha and Todrick knew better than to vote against Kirkpatrick and create even more bad blood. But it seems that Kirkpatrick has chosen a side, or rather, is still hoping that the two sides duke it out while he sneaks by hanging out somewhere in the middle.

The next episode is Wednesday, where we will see who is crowned the new HOH and who he/she nominates for eviction. This being Big Brother, I would also expect a few unexpected twists still to be introduced into the game, but believe it or not, we’re already one-third of the way through Celebrity Big Brother. By this time next week, we’re likely going to have seen another two or three leave the house as we throttle forward towards Finale in little over two weeks time.

Here’s the upcoming Celebrity Big Brother Episode Schedule:

Jennifer Aydin Says Her New Nose Looks “Kind Of Crazy-Wackadoo” In Real Housewives Of New Jersey Season 12 Premiere

Is everyone else still reeling from the Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 12 premiere? The Jersey ladies always come to play, but I wasn’t prepared for all that drama.

At Teresa Giudice’s pool party, RHONJ co-star Margaret Josephs accused Jennifer Aydin of not being truthful about her life. Then Margaret said that Jennifer’s husband, Dr. Bill Aydin, cheated on her with someone at his office. Jennifer kept her composure and told Margaret that it was with a pharmaceutical rep.

Kudos to Jennifer for holding it together and not hurling any pineapples at anyone. Remember, Teresa loves loves loves those pineapples, and they are everywhere at this party.

Sadly, Jennifer and Bill’s young daughter, Olivia Aydin, learned about the rumors of her father’s infidelity on TikTok. Eventually the couple told all their kids about the affair, which happened 10 years ago when Jennifer was pregnant. Oof.

One thing the RHONJ stars are always truthful about is any work that they have had done to enhance their appearance. Teresa previously had a breast augmentation, and later had a nose job. Dolores Catania has had a butt lift, breast augmentation and a new vagina.

In June of 2020, Margaret had another face lift, followed by a breast lift and reduction. Jennifer trusted Bill to perform her tummy tuck in 2019. The perks of being married to a plastic surgeon!

During Teresa’s pool party, Jennifer’s co-stars were gossiping about her nose. Jennifer told Page Six that she was aware that her nose looked different. Last summer, Jennifer had a nose job in Turkey weeks before RHONJ started filming again. “I know it looks wackadoo in the first episode and I was expecting as much,” Jennifer explained. “When we got the schedule, I had already booked my surgery.”

She continued, “I was like, ‘Oh my God, when we start filming, I’m going to be like five weeks out.’ And then I was thinking, ‘You know what? I’m not planning on hiding it. Maybe I could just have my journey while everybody watches.’” Jennifer’s nose was in the early phase of healing. “It didn’t start off so good, not going to lie. It did look kind of crazy-wackadoo,” Jennifer commented.

Jennifer noted that she was aware of the social media comments dissing her nose. “Everybody’s opinions that I’ve read, I feel you, I hear you.” Still, Jennifer is happy with her new nose. “I feel like it’s settled in really nicely. These things, you have to give it a year — you do. With any type of plastic surgery. I would know!” she added.

Jennifer had her rhinoplasty at the same time as her chin implant. While Jennifer loved her nose, she didn’t love the chin work. Jennifer’s plastic surgeon in Turkey, and her own husband, thought that she should get a chin implant to extend that feature.

The mom of five stated, “If two out of my three siblings have chin implants and then two doctors are telling me I need a chin implant, I think I’m going to get a chin implant. But you know what? I don’t think I needed a chin implant,” Jennifer added. She had it removed.

Jennifer poked fun at her nose, and tagline, in an Instagram Story. “I’m excited for my next type of filming, whatever that is,” Jennifer said. “I’ll be healed, and my old chin will be back with my new nose that can still smell a rat.”
