Captain Sandy Yawn got a lot of good news this week, both in her personal and professional life. First, long-time Below Deck Mediterranean nemesis and uninspired chief stew Hannah Ferrier announced that she would not be returning to the series. Then, the Season 5 premiere brought in the highest viewing numbers for a premiere in Below Deck history. Maybe the first piece of news had something to do with the other.

But the best development of this first week in June is that Sandy’s love Leah Shaffer is still cancer-free. After announcing her health struggles in September, Leah had gotten a lumpectomy in October to remove a high-risk growth. At the time Leah explained that, “this is what I have: LCIS lobular carcinoma rapid cell growth. So I chose lumpectomy To remove the area of disease/concerned area so it didn’t even have a chance to develop into anything more. LCIS is not considered breast cancer. But it can!! And quickly. It’s early signs of breast cancer.”

Leah’s diagnosis requires long-term vigilance. After another lump was recently discovered, Leah went in for a biopsy to check if the cyst was malignant. The results indicated no sign of cancer. Leah took to social media to share the good news and Sandy had many words of encouragement for her lady love.

Leah shared a Keep Calm meme on her Instagram earlier this week. The post said, “I can’t keep calm! I’m cancer free.” Below it, Leah explained the results of her biopsy. She said, “biopsy was worth it! Got results back today! Cancer free! Cyst was changing due to age and hormones!! praise God!!! I’ll get MRI in 6 months! Be proactive everyone!!! love you ALL.”

Captain Sandy shared words of support in the post. “Thank you God! I love you so big time!” she wrote. Sandy also thanked her Twitter followers with a photo of the couple with their arms around each other. “TY for your good thoughts & positive vibes!” accompanied the picture.

Many fans and followers voiced their support for Leah’s continued good health.

Things just keep getting worse for Kathryn Dennis. Less than a month after getting blasted in a racially-charged social media scandal, the Southern Charm star is back in the headlines because of a financial lawsuit.

This time, Kathryn is being sued by a professional image consultant. She hired her to revamp her look but allegedly never paid for her services.

In a public court filing obtained by The Sun, Charleston-based brand consultant Katherine Leonard detailed her complaint against the reality star. “I was brought on to help Ms Dennis to rebrand herself and worked in good faith to achieve all the goals we set out for her,” the documents read. “Once she gave me a deposit we began to work on meeting said goals on a strict deadline. She accepted my services and I performed them perfectly.”

However, when it came time to pay for the remainder beyond the initial deposit, Leonard claims Kathryn dodged the bill sent by her consulting company, KL Creative. “Two letters have been sent by a lawyer to her to no avail,” the suit continues. “I now have no choice but to file here in order to get paid for the work I performed for her in Nov, 2019!”

According to Leonard’s filing, the Southern Charm star’s outstanding bill totals $4,908, plus the $80 cost of filing the paperwork with Charleston County. Kathryn had 30 days from when she was summoned on April 1 to respond to the suit. However, the case was listed as “still pending” as of June 1.

If Kathryn hired KL Creative in November 2019, that means she was working on her image ahead of Season 7. (Production on the new season began in February, but was halted one month later because of the coronavirus pandemic.) Interestingly, Cameran Eubanks, Chelsea Meissner and Naomie Olindo all quit the show ahead of filming because of rumors Kathryn supposedly started that Cameran’s husband was having an affair.

Between that behind-the-scenes gossip and her recent drama over using a sitting monkey emoji in a heated DM with an African-American radio host, Kathryn may want to consider more than just an image consultant to fix her problems.
