Lisa Vanderpump Writes A Mother’s Day Tribute To Her Kids

Lisa Vanderpump

The women were complaining about Lisa Vanderpump’s inability to open up and share her feelings an awful lot during the most recent season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Well, maybe Lisa was just looking for a more receptive audience before she could feel comfortable sharing her emotions.

And there is no more receptive audience than Lisa’s beloved children Pandora Vanderpump and Max Todd. Most moms let their kids do all the praising for Mother’s Day, but LVP is not like most other mothers. She likes to do things her own way. The RHOBH star took time to reflect on raising her son and daughter in an open letter that appeared in Time.

The Time article that LVP wrote for her children is very heart warming. She opens up a lot more than the RHOBH viewers are used to seeing and it is very obviously genuine.

Lisa recognized that she flipped the script this Mother’s Day by deciding to celebrate her own children instead of them paying tribute to her: “On Mother’s Day, I know you both always do your utmost to make me feel appreciated, but let me explain what it really means to me.”

Lisa explained how she learned so much more about being a mother when she adopted her son Max: “The bond I have with you both, it is something totally different to any other relationship I have ever had. Max has shown us that biology has little to do with a mother’s bond. The physical barriers that were bestowed upon me as a child have been diminished.” Aside from Max, I am sure there are a bunch of adopted kids who feel the warmth of this sentiment, especially those who are also in a household with siblings who are biological children of their parents. I assume that it always feels nice to hear about how much you are loved, especially when the relationship is more unique.

Then Lisa showed that she not only has the capacity to be sympathetic, but that she can also be empathetic when it comes to the people that she really loves and cares about. “Any pain you both felt was echoed, magnified as I immersed myself in your battles, struggled to step aside and encourage you to discover your independence from me, as I prepared to push you out of my feathered nest. I felt exasperation as I repeated the same thing every day, “Please pick up your backpack! Don’t leave it in the hall.” And then one day that backpack is gone and I would do anything to see it strewn across the floor.”

It is nice to see Lisa revealing her vulnerable side and just really laying out her emotions.

Lisa also wrote, “My happiness will always depend on yours. A mother is only as happy as her saddest childremember that, as you often chastise me for worrying too much, as you navigate your way on this challenging journey.”

After a pretty rough time on this season of RHOBH, it is great to finally see that Lisa is in a good place, even if it is just in the family sector of her life. Sure, she may not be on the best of terms with her costars, but that pales in comparison to the loving relationship that she has with her children.

Lisa is a very generous person, as we’ve seen from her other reality show Vanderpump Rules. Lisa really does give what she can to the people that she cares about, but it seems that she really feels like her children have given her more than she could give them and it is just so sweet. Lisa wrote, “You have enriched the fabric of my life, you have colored it, you have given me so many memories that I have harvested for a day when my life might not be so vibrant. And so on this Mother’s Day I want you to know, it is an honor to be your mother, a job I will always cherish. I thank you both.”

And I love how Lisa signed the letter in the most British way possible: “Love, Mummy”
