Dennis Shields Proposed To Bethenny Frankel & Included Ring For Her Daughter Bryn Hoppy
Last season on Real Housewives of New York, viewers saw the break up of the friendship of Bethenny Frankel and Carole Radziwill. The heartache continued for Bethenny offscreen with the death of her on-again-off-again boyfriend Dennis Shields from a suspected drug overdose.
Bethenny had been super private about their relationship. It meant Dennis rarely appeared on RHONY even though the pair began dating in 2016. So it’s been surprising to hear moree about their relationship since his death. Bethenny revealed in the premiere for season 11 that she’s been texting Dennis since he died. She also admitted that her daughter Bryn Hoppy texted him as well even though she doesn’t seem to understand the finality of Dennis’ death.
Then an article in Page Six featured a scene from the next RHONY episode. Get ready for tears. Dennis included Bryn in a marriage proposal to Bethenny before his death. In the scene, Bethenny told co-star Dorinda Medley, “I loved him so much and we were family and my daughter was close with him and I knew him for so many years. And he proposed on April 25 and I said…”

Dorinda interjected, “I didn’t know that.” Bethenny replied, “Yeah,” as she showed off a ring. Then she said, “I didn’t tell anybody that.” This prompted Dorinda to remark, “Aw, that’s sad.”
“It’s very sad,” Bethenny repeated through tears. She added, “I kept it to myself because I didn’t want another circus of my life.” Then Bethenny said, “We had our own private engagement and our own private, like, ‘Oh my God, we’re gonna do this.’”
“Did Bryn know?” Dorinda asked. “He bought Bryn a ring, too,” Bethenny replied. Wow. That is a very heavy situation for anyone to handle in general, let alone in the spotlight.
