Real Housewives of New York Alum Barbara Kavovit “Strongly Considering” Running For Mayor Of New York City

Former Real Housewives of New York cast member Barbara Kavovit lasted one season in her “friend of” role for Luann de Lesseps. Barbara was a staunch defender of Luann, when most of the cast had given up on her at the time. Unfortunately for Barbara, she just couldn’t quite make it work with most of the ladies, ahem…Ramona Singer and Dorinda Medley. She even ended up losing her friendship with Luann. Sadly, Luann confirmed they are still on the outs during the last episode of the season 12 reunion when she agreed Barbara was a one hit wonder like Elyse Slaine.

Even though Barbara and Luann had a falling out, Barbara shared she still keeps in touch with former castmates Bethenny Frankel and Tinsley Mortimer. In the end, the construction business mogul was probably too normal and nice for the cast. Being the voice of reason on the show doesn’t get you far. After she left the show, Barbara kept herself busy demolishing the old offices of Harvey Weinstein. And now, Barbara announced she is up for a new challenge. One that is quite a bit tougher than being a cast member of the RHONY.

Residents of New York City will be voting for a new mayor in November 2021, when Mayor Bill de Blasio’s term ends. And Barbara wants to fill those shoes. In an interview with Page Six, Barbara announced she is “strongly considering” running for mayor of NYC, and even “has a campaign manager helping her behind-the-scenes.” 

If I had to predict which RHONY housewife would have run for mayor first, my pick would have been Bethenny hands down. But, Barbara knows her way around running her own business, so kudos to her! Barbara noted on her chances, “Well, I have to say, if Donald Trump could be President of the United States, I can be Mayor of New York City.”

What ultimately pushed Barbara to decide to run for office was when she realized she felt “unsafe on the street” in her own city. To combat this, Barbara said she wants to, “rebuild a safer and more inclusive New York City.” It wasn’t clear as to what made Barbara feel unsafe, but she reiterated, “So I feel like the city is not a safe place. So if it’s not safe, people don’t want to come to New York City. People don’t want to stay in New York City.”

Barbara also wants to “pursue the campaign as a ‘tough Democrat.’” She said, “I’m not going to stand for crime. I am going to help businesses. I am going to promote a safer New York City, very structured, so people feel comfortable about being here, so they want to have their business here. So they want to go on the subway and go to work.”

Barbara has about one year to build her case and get the people of New York to vote this “tough Democrat” into office. I’m sure her experience on RHONY helped prepare her for all the different kinds of sociopaths personalities she’s going to have to interact with in the political world. Erika Jayne Jayne Will Walk The Runway For Rihanna’s Fashion Show

If you don’t know about Rihanna’s fashion line by now, have you even been paying attention? Not only is it one of the most iconic fashion lines of our time, but it gained further attention in the Bravo-sphere during this past season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Fans watched the Sutton Stracke evolve into a fully formed 2020 fashion guru right before their eyes. Sutton went from confusing Fenty with Fendi to, in the reunion, apologizing to Rihanna and her fans directly. (Don’t you just love a Housewife who can own a simple mistake?).

In case you missed it, Rihanna has recently been stanning Housewives publicly.  She’s called RHOBH’s own Garcelle Beauvais a “real one”. Now she’s getting Erika Jayne into the mix!

Rihanna has announced a second online fashion show for her Savage x Fenty line. She made history last year when she released her first digital fashion show via Amazon Prime. This year, she is pulling out all the stops for her lingerie designs. I’m talking like, A+ list celebrities.

Cara Delevingne, Willow Smith, and Lizzo are just some examples of who you can expect to see at the show. Kyle Richards’ niece, Paris Hilton will also make an appearance. Then there’s a returning model, new mom, and Yolanda Hadid’s daughter, Gigi Hadid. The final connection to RHOBH who we can anticipate? You got it. Bravo has announced it will be our very own, Erika Jayne.

The trailer for Rihanna’s show dropped on September 17th and people were stunned to see Erika’s name listed. In a good way! I think we could all use a call back to Erika’s simpler days of patting the puss and pretending bubble gum pink was a personality trait. More recently, Erika has been a Savage x Fenty ambassador.

As an ambassador, Erika has also been spotted posing in her crotchless Fenty panties on Instagram. I’m excited to see what she brings to this show. Mark your calendars for October 2!

Bethenny Frankel Says Friendship With Dorinda Medley Strengthened After Dorinda Was Fired; They’re Working On A Project Together

Bethenny Frankel knows a thing or two about exiting a Real Housewives of New York. So she’s an obvious choice as a source of comfort for recently fired cast member, Dorinda Medley.

While they both left under very different circumstances, it sounds like Bethenny thinks Dorinda got a raw deal. Bethenny even took the time to write out a post in support of Dorinda.

So now that it’s sunk in that Dorinda is off the show and not coming back, she has to decide what’s next. Luckily, it sounds like she still has Bethenny in her corner.

Bethenny recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight . She said of Dorinda, “We have gotten really much closer and it is better that we got closer not being on the show, because it means that it is not because of the show.”

Bethenny continued, “And many friends are forged because of the show and then you get off and you are not interested in being friends with those people, so she and I, we are very good at giving advice to each other, life advice. I think she is a great person.” Listen, I don’t doubt that Dorinda is a good person deep down. We saw that in her previous seasons. But I’m a little shocked that Bethenny is riding so hard. Especially for someone who spent the whole season drunkenly yelling at all of her castmates.

But Bethenny has even more respect for Dorinda outside of a friendship. She revealed that they are working on a project together! Said Bethenny, “I am working on a project with her. You know, I have a production company and I think she would be great for a certain project and it is amazing.

She admitted, “I think it is the best thing that ever happened to her that she was let go, because she is sort of blossoming and coming alive. … She would have left but she did not realize it was time for her to leave, so for this time, it was time for her to leave and she did, and she is really happy and she is feeling herself right now, which is great.” Ummm, is Bethenny talking about the same person we are?

Either way, I’m super excited to see what these two are going to come up with. I just hope it doesn’t involve drinking.

Bethenny Frankel Said She Suggested Casting Black Women On Real Housewives Of New York For Years

When Bethenny Frankel announced that she was exiting Real Housewives of New York before Season 12, viewers were stunned. Since her RHONY departure, Bethenny has been busy. She has been on the front lines with her efforts to help those affected by the coronavirus.

Bethenny had a role in getting Leah McSweeney cast on RHONY. Leah and her naked tiki torch throwing shenanigans made a big splash on the show. Leah has been attending protests and posting on social media in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. The RHONY newbie has been vocal in her belief that the show needs diversity. And it turns out, Leah isn’t alone in her calls for diversity on the franchise.

According to Page Six, Bethenny shared how she has submitted names for casting during an interview on Watch What Happens Live on September 24.  Bethenny revealed that she has recommended quite a few candidates to join RHONY, “including several African-American women.” I had no idea that Bethenny was scouting possible Housewives in her spare time.

“I love you and I love what you guys are doing and I wanted to say that because I got messages about that,” Bethenny told host Andy Cohen. Andy confirmed that Bethenny does submit names, including infamous former RHONY star Aviva Drescher. Wow–so we have Bethenny to blame thank for Aviva dramatically tossing her prosthetic leg on a table. Andy did not respond to Bethenny’s comments about adding a Black cast member.

One of Bethenny’s Twitter followers reached out to her after her interview on Watch What Happens Live. The fan thanked Bethenny “for trying to refer black women to #RHONY! I mean it’s NYC. There are black millionaires ‘housewives’ a plenty on the UWS.”

Bethenny replied, “For years, I have submitted black women. We live in NY. This isn’t a new or innovative concept. It’s truth.” Boom! Mic drop. Page Six reported that Bravo didn’t issue a comment. And Andy didn’t acknowledge what she said during the episode

But Bravo may be getting the message. There are reports that Bravo is adding Bershan Shaw to the mix. Bershan, who is a motivational speaker, would be the first Black Housewife on Real Housewives of New York. She has reportedly been filming with some cast members.

Nothing has been confirmed yet by Bravo, and we don’t know if Bershan would be a full-time addition, or a Friend of the Housewives. It’s about time that Bravo delivered a more culturally diverse RHONY cast.
