Kyle Richards may be an OG of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she wants her four daughters following in her well-heeled footsteps.
In a new interview, the RHOBH star opened up about the prospect of her kids becoming reality stars. And while you may think you know the answer, Kyle‘s thoughts on the subject might surprise you.
According to Wonderwall, Kyle revealed during a chat with Australian TV Week that she would “strongly advise against” her girls following dreams of reality stardom.
“I wouldn’t let them,” Kyle said of daughters Farrah Aldjufrie, Alexia Umansky, Sophia Umansky, and Portia Umansky. “Two of my girls are in real estate – they’re businesswomen, and I like that they’re on that path.”
Now, this answer is a little rich for a variety of reasons. First of all, reality TV is essentially the lifeblood of multiple branches of the Richards family tree. Not only did Kyle and her sister Kim Richards singlehandedly start RHOBH together, her niece Paris Hilton was a bonafide pioneer of the genre thanks to her five seasons of The Simple Life in the early 2000s. And that’s not all; here’s a litany of other shows to consider. Kyle competing on Celebrity Apprentice, Check. 2011’s short-lived The World According to Paris? Loves it. Paris Hilton’s My New BFF on MTV? That’s hot. (Also R.I.P.)
Kim stuck in a house with Heidi Montag on The Mother/Daughter Experiment? What dreams are made of. And of course, who could forget Kim and Kyle’s last-place finish on celebrity diving competition Stars in Danger: The High Dive? (Seriously though.)
More importantly, though, it’s ironic considering fans have essentially watched Kyle‘s daughters grow up on national television. Over the past ten years, we’ve seen Farrah receive a giant Hilton-sized check for her college graduation. We’ve watched Kyle fall apart dropping Alexia and then Sophia off at college. We’ve seen the inside of their dorm rooms at said colleges.
Portia was practically a baby when RHOBH started. I mean, Lisa Vanderpump literally walked a llama through Kyle’s house at the girl’s 4th birthday party back in Season 3. And now you’re saying you don’t want your girls to be on TV?
Don’t get me wrong, Kyle is a great mom. A truly wonderful one. And that’s something she by all means should take great pride in. Even her most recent fight with Denise Richards on the current season of RHOBH revolved around Kyle feeling like her castmate was mom-shaming her. But to say she “wouldn’t let” her daughters become reality stars? It’s a little too late for that.

It’s barely been two weeks since the Vanderpump Rules firings of Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute. Stassi has rightfully lost it all. Despite her recent pregnancy news, she’s still considered persona non grata. Her PR firm and agent ditched her. Her podcast has been removed from all platforms. Even her wine line was cancelled.
It was only a matter of time before Kristen was next to receive her punishment for her racist past.
I’m not sure if anyone has even bothered to read her book, He’s Making You Crazy. But either way, it’s not going to be on shelves much longer. According to Page Six, Kristen’s publisher has dropped her and her book. Her book was released mere days before her firing but that hasn’t stopped her publisher from making the call to cut ties.
In a statement on their Instagram, the company explained. “Chicago Review Press prides itself on publishing books that promote social justice and equality. We are a company that strives to be aware, pay attention, and make a positive contribution to the world around us, but we also know that there is always room to do better and learn more; we are working on it. Therefore, we will no longer promote He’s Making You Crazy, and we’ve canceled all remaining virtual or in-person events.”
Kristen’s rep responded to the statement, “Kristen fully understands the publisher’s position and is focused on doing the work she needs to do in order to make all this right and be a part of the solution.”
Before her firing, Kristen had big plans for the book, saying that she was hoping for a movie or TV adaptation. She previously told Page Six, “It’s like a very facetious outlook. Basically, it starts from like, every dating experience that I’ve gone through since I was a little kid up until the current moment. It’s like a universal dating survival guide. So it’s like you’ve either been through these stories or your friends have gone through these stories. So I’m really excited for everyone to read it.”
She hared, “My partner, Michele Alexander, wrote ‘How To 10 a Guy in Ten Days,’ so I couldn’t have a better partner. We don’t have a ghostwriter. We’re doing this our own. And, you know, hopefully, one day it adapts to a television show.”
Unfortunately for Kristen, her book selling days are over before they even began.

There’s no doubt that the Bravo world is still recovering from some recent firings. Most notably, Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute from Vanderpump Rules. Next up to be fired was Pete Hunziker, a newbie deckhand on Below Deck Mediterranean. This was his first season and thanks to a racist post, followed by an abysmal apology, it will be his last.
It’s hard to keep up with some of the problematic pasts of these stars. It seems like everyone has one. Fans are already calling for Jax Taylor’s firing. They aren’t the only ones ready for someone else to be on the chopping block. Real Housewives of Orange County’s Tamra Judge is coming after her former castmate.
Just yesterday, we reported on Tamra slamming Kelly Dodd in her Instagram Stories for past racist behavior. When a commenter asked if Tamra thinks Kelly should be fired, the RHOC alum had some choice words. She responded, “Yes I do. That TMZ video is disgusting! Bravo shouldn’t just single certain people out like Stassi & Kristen. There should be zero tolerance at this point.”
The racist behavior Tamra is referring to is a TMZ video of a drunk Kelly talking to paparazzi back in 2016. In the video, Kelly goes on a racist rant saying, “I don’t like Black guys. I don’t even know any Black guys.”
Despite the offense, Kelly clapped back at Tamra. Comments by Bravo on Instagram posted a shot of Kelly and her fiancé, Rick Leventhal, happily posing for the camera. A commenter asked what Kelly thought of Tamra’s video. Kelly responded, “She’s just thirsty and mad she got the bullet…grasping for straws poor thing…I hope she finds happiness.” Yeah, something tells me that Kelly doesn’t really hope Tamra finds happiness.
This isn’t the first controversy from Kelly in recent months. Kelly has repeatedly stuck her foot in her mouth regarding the coronavirus outbreak. Kelly landed herself in hot water when she said that coronavirus was God’s way of “thinning the herd”. She was also forced to apologize after sharing an insensitive meme about the virus.
Naturally, fans weren’t happy and launched a campaign to get her fired for her nonsense. But Kelly, not known for being the most self aware person, responded by going to her Instagram Stories. And what did she have to say for those who want her fired? “So, you guys, Facebook [users], you’re probably 50 [years old] and over. Get a life. Do something positive. Maybe help other people out, just [something] the opposite of being such haters. It’s hilarious right now. OK? Get a life.”
Classic Kelly. I don’t know if she’s next but I certainly wouldn’t mind if she was.

The Real Housewives OG’s are an endangered species at this point. We only have a few left. The OG cast members who are still on TV have been through so much right before our eyes. When we first met Ramona Singer on Real Housewives of New York, she was constantly bragging about how hot and heavy and she and Mario Singer were. Then, she found out he was cheating on her in the press. They divorced. And, now, she’s all about that dating scene and being hot at sixty. Oh, and she and Mario quarantined together in Florida.
We’ve seen her go through a lot of different phases in life, but recently, she’s just been a bit more reasonable than she used to be. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all the time. Who could forget Ramona and Sonja Morgan ditching the cast in Rhode Island to talk to “hot” guys at the bar instead of going to dinner? Before that she ditched her own Hampton house to look for more “hot” guys. Wait. What was I saying again? Oh, yeah, Ramona is a tiny bit more reasonable than she used to be. Here and there she really is the voice of reason with some solid anecdotes and advice. Her fellow OG Luann de Lesseps has certainly noticed.
On a recent episode of the Reality of Reality podcast, Luann was asked, “Has Ramona changed? A lot of people are saying she’s the voice of reason this season. What do you think?”
Lu said, “I think that Ramona has changed for the better. I really believe that. Listen, you’re never going to change Ramona completely and God knows we don’t want to because where can you find that kind of crazy Ramona, right?” So true, Lu. So true.
She continued, “But, I feel like Ramona has come a long way in terms of being more compassionate, I think. You know, she still fumbles on her words, but you gotta love it. I feel like she’s more compassionate and you especially see that with Leah [McSweeney] this season. She kind of mothers her,” which is just so… interesting to watch.
When the podcast host commented, “Leah seems to be playing out a lot of her mommy issues,” Luann responded, “Yes, it’s true and she has those issues.” Then she joked, “I’m glad she goes to Ramona as the mother and not me. I want to be the girlfriend, not the mother.” Oh, Lu.

It’s tough to join the Real Housewives of New York cast. The ladies hazed Tinsley Mortimer right up until she quit the show. They never gave Barbara Kavovit a chance. Surprisingly, they’ve embraced Leah McSweeney, torch/ravioli throwing, and all. But, then there’s Elyse Slaine. We never got a proper introduction. She didn’t get to share any of her backstory. All we know is that she’s Ramona Singer’s friend who’s hanging around a lot.
When Luann de Lesseps took her “first sip of alcohol” this season, Elyse was the only one who questioned her for doing so, given her past legal issues. Everyone ignored her, but Luann didn’t forget about Elyse chiming in.
Luann recently appeared on the podcast Reality of Reality, where she kept it very real, admitting, “I’ve always been a longtime drinker and I’ve always enjoyed drinking.” She also said, “I still do on occasion, but for the most part, I like not to drink now.”
Then Lu was asked, “Does it bother you when someone like Elyse is up in your grill?” Luann responded, “Who is she to judge me, first of all? ” But, really though, we still have very little context for her presence.
Luann continued, “I barely know this woman. I’ve seen her around. This is not someone who I’d ring her up, call her up and say ‘Hey, let’s hang out.’ No. You know, she’s nice enough and I just don’t know her that well. For her to chime in on my sobriety is really you know inappropriate, I think because she doesn’t know a damn thing. Only what she might have read in the newspaper. If you listen to all the press that’s out there and then you watch me on the show, it’s like ‘is this the same person’?”
Luann seemingly threw some shade when she remarked, “She’s a friend of Ramona’s, but Dorinda [Medley] seems to know her. Sonja [Morgan] seems to know her. She’s kind of immersed herself. She’s not in my circle.” This gave me some strong Mariah Carey “I don’t know her” vibes.
The podcast host asked, “Is she an official Friend of the Housewives like Barbara was?” Without any hesitation, Luann said, “No. Listen, I don’t think so.”
When the host commented, “She seems to be on every trip. It’s very strange,” Luann declared, “Well, it’s gonna change.”
Still, Lu actually did have some nice things to say about Elyse. The artist formerly known as Mrs. D’Agostino shared, “What she says holds some truth. She’s not stupid. She’s an intelligent woman who is, you know, hanging out around this group of women and trying to figure out ‘when do I speak.'”

A few months ago, NeNe Leakes‘ frenemy Wendy Williams claimed that NeNe was leaving Real Housewives of Atlanta. NeNe denied that, of course. But then, her behavior was, well, a bit confusing. Then again, that was just typical NeNe behavior in all honesty. She was barely in the beginning of the season. It is unclear if NeNe refused to film or if she was cut out, but the start of the most recent season was just so strange. Even when NeNe wasn’t there she was the topic of conversation.
Then, she just walked out in the middle of filming the reunion. She left her monitor on, with her notebook full of pre-prepared reads open. Most people would get fired for not doing their jobs. However, that doesn’t seem to be a concern of NeNe’s. Instead of returning to the reunion, she called Porsha Williams while she was filming, which was annoying and just made no sense. Just show up if you want to be heard. Plus she was filming from her home. It doesn’t get much easier than that when it comes to a commute to work. This week the offer letters went out for Real Housewives of Atlanta season 13. We already know that Eva Marcille got fired left the show. Porsha is back for sure. Other than that, it’s just a guessing game of looking for social media clues. And that’s why a lot of people think NeNe got fired.
NeNe’s friend-turned-enemy B. Scott claimed that she got fired. NeNe even tweeted (and deleted), “You are NOT gonna get away with this! I promise.” This sure fed into that narrative. She also retweeted, “I wouldn’t watch RHOA without Mrs. @NeNeLeakes she is what keeps me watching the show, she cracks me up!” How suspicious!
NeNe’s manager spoke to People about the rumors, saying, “It is absolutely not true that Nene has been fired from RHOA. Furthermore, it was made abundantly clear prior that she will always be welcome on the series as long as she wants to be.”
The manager added that they are “having on-going bigger picture conversations with NBC Universal and have not made any decisions regarding next season specifically. Any speculation or sources trying to create controversy by stating otherwise are incredibly inaccurate. Bloop.”
Gotta love a “bloop” reference here and there. But, let’s read between the lines. Apparently, NeNe wasn’t “fired,” but that doesn’t mean she’s definitely returning either. Seemingly, she has some demands that she’s hoping to receive.
A spokesperson for the Bravo network told the outlet, “There is no truth to this story- NeNe was not fired and conversations for the next season are still ongoing.” So, again, I read that as NeNe wants something, whether it’s more money, a guaranteed appearance in every episode, or just something to keep her happy.
In a less official response, NeNe posted a photo of herself laughing at an old reunion with the caption “I can’t chileeeeeeee.” She also tweeted a bunch of laughing emojis, which may be in response to the rumors, but is 100% a bid for attention.
