The Real Housewives of Potomac fanbase was rocked by news of Wendy Osefo and Eddie Osefo’s fraud arrest. After the initial shock, Real Housewives wasted little time reacting to the news, and to the couple’s mugshots. Who thought there would be another RHOP legal scandal so soon after Karen Huger was released from prison? And this news come just before the Osefos are set to appear on the new Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition series! (Although their episode may be shelved).
Since the story of their arrest first broke, more details of the accusations against Dr. Wendy and Happy Eddie began to trickle out. Here’s everything we know so far about the arrest and accusations against Wendy and Eddie Osefo.
Why were RHOP’s Wendy and Eddie Osefo arrested, and on what charges?

News of Wendy and Eddie’s arrest broke early on Friday October 10. The married couple were arrested the night before and indicted on 16 total charges. This includes seven counts of insurance fraud, eight counts of criminal insurance fraud, and a charge for lying to a police officer. The alleged fraud was in excess of $300, which makes it a felony in Maryland.
This news broke less than a week after the RHOP Season 10 premiere. In that episode, Wendy gushed that she and Eddie reached a new echelon of success and planning a home remodel thanks to his Happy Eddie cannabis line. Well, that storyline already aged poorly! Especially since court documents obtained by US Weekly call the Osefos “burdened by substantial debt.”
The Real Housewives of Potomac stars are suspected of staging a burglary
When the news first broke, details were scarce. But a few hours later, outlets obtained the court documents and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference to release more information. Turns out, Wendy and Eddie are accused of staging a burglary.
Wendy and Eddie reported a break in at their home in April of last year. They claimed someone robbed their home while they were on vacation in Jamaica. Allegedly, they returned home to find their bedroom and closets ransacked. When they filed an insurance claim, the Osefos reported $450,000 worth of personal property stolen. Including handbags and jewelry.
However, according to the sheriff’s office, Wendy wore one of the supposedly stolen diamond rings in a social media post. They also claim that Wendy and Eddie returned the items to stores and received refunds for the purses and jewelry before the alleged burglary took place. When officers searched their home on Thursday October 9, they found 15 items matching those allegedly stolen.
According to court documents, Eddie emailed a list of stolen items to Wendy, and asked if there were any high value items he could add to exceed their policy maximum. Yikes!

After their arrest, sources close to the Osefos released a statement. “Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,” the representative said. “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues.”
The statement continued, “The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
We’ll have to wait and see if their upcoming legal battle is more or less successful than Karen’s last year. In the meantime, Bravo fans can watch the Osefos on Real Housewives of Potomac Season 10. Wendy and Eddie were supposed to appear on the new Real Housewives Wife Swap series. In the wake of this news, Bravo pushed that series premiere back one week.

David Del Rio’s wife, Katherine, seemingly responded to sexual assault allegations from the set of Matlock. She did so by attacking her husband’s Matlock (now former) co-star, Leah Lewis, online. David was fired from the CBS series on Thursday, October 9. The network and David have not yet commented on the alleged assault or termination.

The social media back and forth began after Leah posted a photo where she’s hugging her mom on Instagram. She wrote, “We’re moving forward in love and strength. I’m in good hands. Thank you to everybody for any kind of support and care. Truly, we’re moving forward in strength. Key word, strength. Let that be the takeaway.”
That night, Katherine responded to the post in a now deleted Instagram Story. Adjacent to a closeup photo of Leah’s cropped face she wrote, “This is the most disturbing human being I have ever met,” Us Weekly reports.
Katherine shared a second post on her Instagram Story, which also has since been deleted. Next to a photo of her hugging her mom, emulating Leah’s photo, Katherine wrote, “Mom is here. We’re moving forward in love and strength after what Leah did to our family. Thank you all for the love and support!”
The Del Rios, married since April 2018, have two daughters — Lilia, 2, and Coco, born in March of this year.
Deadline reported that the alleged incident occurred on September 26 and was reported to CBS on October 2. After an internal investigation, David was immediately dismissed and escorted off the lot.
David’s character, Billy Martinez, will be written off the series immediately. However, because the first half of Season 2 is completed, it’s unclear if his character will appear when Matlock premieres on October 12.
