It seems sort of odd focusing on, obsessing over and arguing about a Reality TV show on a day like today. This coronavirus news and how it’s impacting our lives, our country, our world is simply overwhelming and forces us to keep our emotions in perspective…and as we learned just hours ago (first reported by EW.com), this virus has now also affected our favorite show, Survivor. In case you haven’t heard, just as production was about to start in Fiji, Jeff Probst informed the cast and crew of the upcoming 41st and 42nd seasons that production on the show would be delayed at least until mid-May because of the global coronavirus pandemic (more on this in a bit). It’s a scary time, that’s for sure.
But on the other hand, watching tonight’s episode was a much-needed diversion from reality. It really felt good to lose myself in the show, especially today. So I hope this article will provide some level of escape for you too, for everyone reading this. Because really, all we can do is play with the cards we’ve been dealt…a lesson that was prevalent in many ways during tonight’s “tribe swap” episode.
As I do at the beginning of every recap, please heed the following: Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s episode of Survivor: Winners at War. If you have not and don’t want to be spoiled, please come back later! It’s important to add that while we WILL hit on all of the important developments of the episode, this is not a linear “blow-by-blow” recap. It is more of a discussion and reaction of what we just witnessed together.

So you may be asking yourself: Why would they suspend production of Survivor, wouldn’t they be pretty safe given that they are all out on a remote island? Well, I urge you all to read Dalton‘s article on EW.com (after this article of course). In it, there’s an actual letter from Jeff Probst to his crew and the reasons for the delay on Seasons 41 and 42 (which were planned to be shot back-to-back, as they’ve done for the last several years) were spelled out. Basically, the Survivor crew is made up of over 400 individuals who fly in from all over the world, so even though the coronavirus hasn’t been confirmed in Fiji, the risk of bringing all of these people in from all over the place was simply too high. It sounded hopeful that they’d be able to still produce the back-to-back seasons, just a bit later than they had intended, but with the information on this virus changing each and every day, only time will tell what will happen. Season 41 – planned to air in Fall of 2020, and Season 42 – planned for Spring 2021 – are still on pace for their scheduled air-dates even with the production delay, unless things are pushed back even further…so stay tuned.
And speaking of needing to learn to play with the cards we’ve been dealt, how about that emotional opening sequence with Yul? His good friend and original cast-mate from Survivor: Cook Islands, Jonathan Penner, is one of the most decent dudes you’ll ever come across, and a three-time Survivor All-Star by anyone’s definition. He has been very open with his wife Stacy‘s battle with ALS, and we got a first-hand look, through Yul’s eyes, when he got quite emotional at camp just thinking about his friend Penner. I just love Yul…for those that remember him and watched him play, he’s one of the all-around great-guys and great players the game has ever had, and it’s been so rewarding to get to see him again. And his emotion was pure and authentic…this wasn’t Yul trying to gain sympathy from his tribe-mates for some sort of in-game strategy.
No, Yul was really hurting for his friend, but kudos to Probst and the rest of the Survivor team for choosing to include this vulnerable moment on the show. Survivor is one big family – a dysfunctional one at times, yes – but by-and-large they take care of their own and it was very bold to make this a part of the show. It not only brought attention to a real-life survivor and raised awareness about a terrible disease, but it played into this season’s underlying theme of past connections among all of these competing players.
Green Tribe (Boston Rob, Ben, Adam, Sarah, Sophie). Somehow segueing from talking about coronavirus and ALS, I’ll attempt to now talk about the game of Survivor. We lost a BIGGIE tonight, no doubt, as the Rob-Father himself, Boston Rob, finally saw his torch get snuffed. He’s a legendary player, with a legendary-sized target on his back and we all knew that it would be an incredible uphill fight for him to go far into this season, but tonight also showed how, no matter how good a player you are, there is always an element of luck when it comes to the game. The “tribe swap” is always a milestone marker in the game, a turning point where it’s easy to figure out who got lucky and who didn’t. Boston Rob did NOT get lucky, much like what he described happening to him during his original season, Survivor: Marquesas. Although unlike that season, Rob was not in any position of power prior to the swap.
Rob this season really needed the Survivor Gods to help him out with a good draw of a new tribe, but perhaps the Survivor Gods were out to make Rob pay…after all, they did build a huge Idol of Rob’s face last season. Perhaps this did not please said Gods? At any rate, Rob now joins his ousted wife, Amber, on the Edge of Extinction, and things don’t look great for either of their futures in the game.
As Rob alluded to when trying to hunt for an Idol without a clue, he just hasn’t been able to catch up to the “new school” way of playing the game. He even admitted that he underestimated the other players this season, something he vowed wouldn’t happen again. But when you’re playing with this caliber of player, you just can’t count on getting a second-chance. He showed flashes of brilliance this season…and showed that he deserves “legend” status for how he plays the game. But it wasn’t enough…not with this group. And while his “buddy system” strategy might have worked on lesser players, it really was his only move. He was a goner, a sitting duck at his last tribe and needed this swap to put him in a better position…he couldn’t have been put in a worse one. But Rob tried to do what he could, and probably did the only thing he could have done. Sophie made it clear she had no desire to work with Rob. Rob was the biggest threat of the five. Without an Idol, Rob simply wasn’t dealt a winning hand.
As for the others, Sarah and Sophie played things marvelously, and both are major threats in this game…and it’s fun to watch them work. Both are over-performing, I think, based on where people might have thought they rank coming into this season, but not only did they just take down Goliath himself, Boston Rob, they did so managing not to use Sarah’s “steal-a-vote” power nor Sophie’s newly found Immunity Idol. And with Ben and Adam still an uneasy team, should this tribe go to Tribal Council again, you would think that either of them would flip on the other quite quickly…so Sarah and Sophie seem to have total control of their tribe for now.
Red Tribe (Tony, Sandra, Jeremy, Kim, Denise). The big development on the newly formed Red Tribe this episode was the resurgence of Kim’s game. Known coming into this game as one of the greatest winners of all-time, Kim has struggled and was nearly voted-out early. But tonight, Kim is the perfect example of someone whose game benefited GREATLY due to the tribe swap. She’s been given options, coming over with former tribe-mates Sandra and Tony – two massive threats – but clicking much more with Jeremy and Denise. You may or may not remember, but Kim and Jeremy were both in that “poker alliance” outside the game, so they definitely have an inherent existing bond. And Kim seemed to find “her person” in Denise, whom she mentioned shares a similar style of game-play. Kim seems more likely to take out Sandra or Tony than align with them, but she has options…and power, for the time being at least, and it’s great to see.
Blue Tribe (Parvati, Nick, Yul, Michele, Wendell). This was the most Parvati-like that Parvati has been the entire game so far, no? It was great to see her feel like she was “being herself,” at least as a contestant on the show. You could see her working her social magic on both Yul and Nick, so it seems that the tribe swap for her, at the very least, has possibly injected her game with a bit of hope and energy. But the main story here this week was the uncomfortable reuniting of Michele and Wendell who briefly “were kicking it together” for a while sometime after both of their winning seasons. Their squeamishness around one another was our entertainment, and I thought it was pretty hilarious to watch them interact, as I wondered and imagined exactly what might have happened between the two of them off-island that went bad. It seems unlikely they’ll pair up in-game, even though it seems like Michele was more willing to do so than Wendell. All of the above noted, Michele and Parvati still find themselves in the majority underneath a very tight three-person alliance, but we’ll have to see how things progress moving forward.
Beyond the newly formed tribes, this was the first episode that we did not get a look at The Edge of Extinction…look for that to change next week for sure when Rob and Amber reunite…they’re one or two players shy of getting their old poker group back together on The Edge!
Legacy Watch: Since the game of Survivor will forever be changed as this season rolls along, I’ve added a new segment where we’ll take a look at whose game legacy’s have taken a hit, and whose have risen, based on the actions of this week’s episode. Come on, are you kidding? Boston Rob‘s name is already etched in greatness, and even though he was taken out with a unanimous vote, unceremoniously, this in no way will tarnish his overall legacy. On the flip of this though, many players still in the game increased theirs: Sophie and Sarah mainly. We’re nearing the merge and also what is sure to be the first of two “get back into the game from the Edge” challenges, so as players get deeper and deeper into the game, I think we’re going to start to see players’ legacies only get stronger, not weaker, throughout the rest of the course of this season.

Episode Take-Away: Like a low-scoring baseball game, I found it fascinating to watch the strategy with the Green Tribe, despite them just sitting around and doing nothing. It was unlike any other lead-up to Tribal Council that we’ve ever seen, but it was riveting. Boston Rob is good at what he does, but ultimately he underestimated his opponents and it cost him. So on one hand, this episode might have been taken as “uneventful,” but I found myself emerged in the “quiet” strategy that played out. I was also excited to see the tribe swap and overall I like the mix it provided…although with two players being sent to the Edge next week, things are about to get very real very fast.

Real Housewives of Atlanta has given us plenty of drama when it comes to the marriage of NeNe Leakes and husband Gregg Leakes. While they started out as an adoring married couple when we were first introduced to them many seasons ago, the camera has caught all the ups and downs since. And there were many. Fans were shocked when they announced their divorce in 2011 but even more shocked when they decided to remarry in 2013. True to reality TV form, Bravo even aired a special about their second set of nuptials, titled I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding. The wedded bliss didn’t last long and a few short years later with NeNe back on RHOA, Gregg was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer.
NeNe was open and honest about how hard she found it to be a caretaker and the cracks in their relationship were on full display. They were sleeping in separate bedrooms and both making cryptic social media posts, leaving fans to wonder if they were headed for a second divorce. They pulled through and last year, Gregg also announced that he was cancer free. Despite the physical and emotional strain taking a toll on their relationship, by the the start of this season of RHOA, they seemed to have gotten to a good place.
Now it looks like health issues weren’t the only thing weighing on the couple as of late. People is reporting that on a recent episode of Angela Lee’s Lip Service podcast, NeNe gets candid about Gregg having some inappropriate conversations with a former employee. NeNe says that the alleged incident occurred over the summer of 2019 when she was opening a new clothing story in Maryland.
NeNe had asked Gregg to assist her in the hiring process for the new store claiming, “[He’s] really good with all things that I’m not good with.” She shared that she eventually hired a store manager that just so happened to be “Gregg’s type”. All was well until said manager, whose name is Juanita, was arguing with another employee. During the altercation, the male employee clapped back at her saying, “Well, how about you and Mr. Gregg be FaceTiming.”
NeNe recalls of the incident, “I’m in a whole room and I’m standing up and I didn’t get out of character I just said ‘Really? I knew he [the employee] wasn’t lying. And she was in shock,” she said of Juanita. NeNe then immediately called Gregg, who adamantly denied the accusation. After putting him on speaker during the meeting, NeNe asked if he had been speaking with Juanita. NeNe recalls, “He said ‘No!’ And I was like ‘Okay, you have. Bye.’ And he went insane, screaming going crazy and then her phone beeped.” NeNe then did what any partner would do and asked Juanita to pack up and get out.
When asked to explain the relationship, NeNe said Gregg told her, “We never did anything. We just talked on the phone. We never had sex.” Gregg gave a sorry excuse for his behavior, saying, “You weren’t here for me to talk to.”
After not speaking for a few months, NeNe says they eventually got back on track but she’s still disappointed in his actions. She continued, “Gregg has taken passes that I didn’t even give him. At this point, if he wanted to go, he would go the hell on. I like to talk open relationships and I have talked about that with Gregg and told him, ‘If you’re going to cheat, your relationship is open anyway.'”
NeNe concluded of their relationship dynamic, “I do what I want anyway. I don’t want to hear what he’s doing about anyway. I’m in New York and he’s in Georgia. Whatever he’s doing I don’t nee to know about it. We’ve really had these conversations.”

Buckle up for the second part of The Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion. On part one, Jennifer Aydin stole the show. She made the entire event revolve around herself. She found a way to insert herself into any and all conversations possible. Teresa Giudice has finally opened up about the issues in her marriage, so hopefully we learn more. There’s a lot more to that mess of a relationship than we are hearing.
Melissa Gorga, Margaret Josephs, and Jackie Goldschneider are all sick of Jennifer at this point. Expect more fireworks to go off during part two. She has bad blood with all three women and is on the warpath at this reunion. The biggest question mark in the episode is Danielle Staub. What impact is she going to have? What will her final act as a cast member of this show be? We won’t have to wait too long to find out.
Melissa and Jennifer continue to call each other f**cking assholes. That’s not childish at all. Teresa says that Melissa is big girl and can fight her own battles. These two can pretend to be a loving family all they want, but I don’t buy it. Too much went down with them for the past to get buried so easily.
Jennifer actually apologizes for throwing the knife at Melissa. Kind of. She doesn’t seem sincere. They all agree to not throw anything at each other, so baby steps! This group has such a hot temper as a collective though. We’ll see how long it takes for someone to break that agreement.
Teresa discusses the SuperBowl commercial with Caroline Manzo. She did it only for the money. Major shocker. NOT. She has no intention of ever being friends with her again. Apparently, they had a heated phone call about how Caroline sided with Melissa and Kathy Wakile in the past. HOW LONG AGO WAS THAT? Make like Elsa, and let it go.
Also, Teresa was extremely shady in those seasons, so she caused her own friendship demise. Sometimes it feels like Teresa is living in a totally alternate reality. Dolores Catania defends Caroline and tells Teresa there’s no way Caroline was the rat. Did anyone need to be the rat to send Joe Giudice and Teresa to jail? They were sketchy on camera for many years, so it’s not surprising.
After so many years of defending Joe, it’s still weird to see Teresa talk negatively about him. Finally acknowledging the truth about his actions was a little jarring. She appeared to be in denial for so many years. It’s so refreshing to see her owning her past.
All of the women think Joe wanted to put Teresa down so she wouldn’t leave. I think Joe didn’t realize how different this version of Teresa is. She is not the same women he left all those years ago. She is standing on her own two feet now, and she doesn’t need him.
Teresa claims that Joe acted nicer to her off camera, but Melissa refutes that. She says she can do a lot better, and it’s obvious everyone agrees. I can’t see someone like Joe being super innocent and sweet when the cameras are down. He is who he is. All the cameras did was magnify and highlight the negative traits that likely already existed.
The topic turns to all of the cheating rumors about Teresa. I do feel like Margaret knew exactly what she was doing every time she brought it up. It was designed to embarrass Teresa and stir up trouble. Margaret is calculated with what she does, so why is she playing dumb?
Joe’s brother told Gia about all of the cheating rumors which is so wild. Why would you purposely hurt your niece in that way? What good is going to come from that?
Jackie says she had just seen the bullying video before she made comments about it. She apologizes to Teresa and said she was talking about something she knew nothing about. They’ve come such a long way.
Teresa denies ever hooking up with the pool guy or any guy at all. There were A LOT OF RUMORS. It sounds like she might be lying. We’ll never learn the truth though. She also wants a nice Jewish guy next. She needs someone sweet and loving. Anything is better than what she had with Joe. The way her speaks to her is just so degrading, and nobody deserves that.
Teresa also drops a bomb that she’d like to have another baby. A boy this time. Don’t worry though, Jennifer stands firmly behind Teresa with this. She thinks Melissa is faking it, but she is full speed ahead for Tre. However, in her defense Teresa did seem a lot more sincere than Melissa about it.
The husbands are joining the fray! Frank Catania has a woman in his life, and she is only 30. Our dreams of Frank and Dolo of ever getting back together have been dash. For now at least. Also, poor Evan Goldschneider and the lack of oral sex in his life. He was hoping the peer pressure from everyone would make Jackie change her mind. No such luck.
I still can’t get over the men bonking Bill Aydin’s head of the side of the car. I’m glad he’s okay after all of what he drank that day. Good to see him!
Watching the Danielle sex tape was highly inappropriate just because of the mocking manner. Also, ew why? Who wants to watch that? NOT ME EVER.
Jennifer comes at Joe Gorga for his statements about Bill needing to bang her more often. She uses his three viable sperm against him. She says she’s getting it while Joe is shooting blanks. That is such a brutal shot to Joe. Total fatality. That’s the top insult to someone who brags about sex and being Tarzan the way Joe does.
SO MUCH SEX TALK ON THIS REUNION. The biggest takeaway was probably how much chemistry Frank and Dolores have. It’s a shame she doesn’t ever want to take him back. I bet he’d be down for that in a heartbeat.
DANIELLE IS IN THE BUILDING. I REPEAT, DANIELLE IS IN THE BUILDING. S**T IS ABOUT TO GET REAL. I cannot wait to see what her final act on this show is. I bet it’s something very dramatic and highly iconic.
Before Danielle joins the women, we have to dissect the drama between Jackie and Jennifer. There was a lot of bad blood between these two this season. As far as the video goes, I don’t think Jennifer was trying to bully Jackie in that video. Jennifer says Jackie is very boring and vanilla. She has a point there. Jackie totally faded into the background by the end of the season. Jackie does have a lack of personality in comparison with the other women.
Jennifer throws Teresa under the bus saying she wanted to post the video not her. Teresa did not care one bit that Jackie might be upset by it. I think the video was rude, but to label it bullying is going a little far. Jackie is not a helpless victim. She says and does things to shade these women as well. None of them are above the others.
The party was such a firestorm of controversy, and I still don’t get why. Why does it matter so much to Jennifer what Jackie does for her children’s birthdays? It’s really not her business. Jennifer can go as lavish as she wants, and Jackie can go as low key as she wants. There are children out there who have NOTHING AT ALL.
Dolores tries to give some input on the situation, but Jennifer won’t let anyone speak. For two parts now, she’s interjected herself into nearly every conversation that’s taken place. All of the women are getting fed up with it too. People would like the opportunity to speak, but Jennifer makes it nearly impossible.
Jennifer says she grew up feeling less than and her parents never spent their money. She uses her past to justify her current actions. Jackie tries to talk once again, but Jennifer will not let her speak. She doesn’t even think having wild parties make spoiled kids, but Jennifer doesn’t want to hear her out. LET THE WOMAN SPEAK. I find Jackie so boring, but I’d like to hear what she has to say.
Margaret calling Jennifer a thirsty turtle is so hilarious. I want a shirt that says thirsty turtle on it. Jackie doesn’t want a friendship with Jennifer and doesn’t want to be around her. You can’t really blame Jackie for that. Jennifer is always down you throat and looking for a problem. Screw that.
Danielle is getting ready in the back, and she is NOT excited. She is demanding to be seated next to Andy Cohen. We’ve all seen the photos of her in that ugly chair, so her wish gets DENIED.

Two tribes became three as Survivor Winners at War’s players realigned and reconnected—in one case, with past romantic partners.
On last night’s episode of Married At First Sight , one-month wedding anniversaries are celebrated as the experiment reaches the halfway point. While some couples envision a future together, others worry that this first milestone may be the only anniversary they ever celebrate. For one couple, a anniversary is the least of their worries.
Whew, chile this episode was stressful. Bombs were dropped, integrity is questioned and apologies are dismissed. There was so much drama, I have second hand stress. If people don’t wake up and start to see the truth after what was presented, I don’t think they ever will. Let’s get straight into the recap!
Michael Watson attempts to move past his continuous lies by making breakfast for his wife, Meka Jones. She awkwardly eats while he incessantly rambles on during the meal. I don’t think she likes her husband or breakfast food. To celebrate their one month anniversary, Michael takes Meka on a boat ride. They view their wedding photos and video while reminiscing on their journey thus far. I wonder is a timeline of each of his lies included on that laptop. Michael is trying really hard to make his wife forget his indiscretions. He claims he bought tickets to Jamaica to swim with the dolphins. Meka, girl don’t buy a swimsuit until you actually see the tickets.
Austin Hurd surprises Jessica Studer with a hand molding activity when she returns from the gym. This is one of the corniest things I have seen, but it fits the quirky couple. The mold of them holding hands actually comes out really well.
Austin plans a private dinner for Jessica. They watch their wedding video and discuss how far they have come since they met. During the dinner Jessica points out that Austin didn’t let down the toilet or make the bed a few times. Huh?? Did this girl forget his mommy did everything for him before she met him? Things get a little uncomfortable when Jessica inquires about them falling love. Austin has made it clear that he takes that word seriously and isn’t ready to say it yet. He does admit they both are going in that direction but doesn’t feel they are there. Jessica accepts this answer, but it’s obvious that is not what she wanted to hear.
Zach Justice joins Mindy Shiben at the ice skating rink to hang out. Mindy gracefully teaches her husband a few moves. But no matter the activity, Zach always seems like would rather be doing anything else in the world, but be with his wife. Sigh! Mindy, you deserve so much more than this ball of hair.
Mindy and Zach go to dinner to celebrate their wedding anniversary. During their conversation, he eludes to not feeling in control during their marriage. Ummm…isn’t this the same guy who only sees his WIFE at his own leisure. That certainly sounds like control to me. Mindy becomes frustrated and asks does he have a girlfriend or is he gay. Girl, he just doesn’t like you! Then Zach drops a bomb and accuses Mindy of being dishonest in one of the worst attempts at acting, I have ever seen. What a coincidence that once Mindy admits to feeling robbed of the full experience, Zach pulls out a smoking gun to shift the blame. She questions whether Zach is just making up an accusation, but he refuses to go into more detail. Mindy becomes so frustrated she storms out of the restaurant.
Zach agrees to come to Mindy’s apartment to look at their wedding album together. He couldn’t look more disinterested, even if he tried. At this point, these two interacting is just sad to watch. Mindy expresses how unsettled she is by the accusation that she is dishonest. A light bulb goes off and she is prompted to ask has he been in touch with any of her friends. She is shocked to find out Zach has been speaking regularly to one of her closest friends behind her back. SMH! Mindy, if you don’t drop this man and your friend immediately, I don’t know what to say. What is even crazier is Zach has NEVER called Mindy even once, but has been talking to her friend for weeks. OH, HELL NO! This woman was at her wedding. This is a huge betrayal in my eyes. I sentence Zach and the friend to a Game of Thrones walk of shame in front of the other couples.
Mindy calls the offending friend, Lindsay to ask her what is going on between her and Zach. I don’t give a damn what this woman says, she is not a friend. Who tries to build a friendship with her friend’s husband without their knowledge? Both Zach and Lindsay are the worst kind of liars. Why would Lindsay delete their text messages, if there was nothing incriminating in them. With a friend and husband like this, who needs enemies?
Brandon Reid and Taylor Dunklin each view their wedding memories individually, now that they are separated. In my opinion they both need to throw the box from the experts in the trash and never look back. These two have been toxic since the very beginning.
Brandon meets Taylor at the nail shop of all places, to talk through their issues. Taylor apologizes for the first time in an anniversary card. Brandon clearly isn’t ready to let go of the issue and continues to chastise Taylor throughout the conversation. She becomes irritated and keeps mentioning wanting to be friends. Apparently Brandon is offended by the word “friends” and shares that he is uninterested in the gesture. Sigh! Both of these people are so immature it’s ridiculous. Taylor refusing to admit her video was done with the intention to hurt Brandon’s feelings is wrong. Brandon pretending to be outraged as if he hasn’t made several mistakes is nuts. Obviously, Brandon doesn’t mind publicly humiliating his spouse, but can’t handle facing the same fate. I think this separation is the best decision for all.
Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman have an argument off camera. Derek felt attacked when his ability to fall in love by the end of the experiment is questioned. Katie is scared to death that she will realize that she wasted her time at the end. Things escalate when disrespectful words are exchanged. 2 hours before their anniversary was not an ideal time to have this discussion.
Katie is still upset from her recent argument with Derek. At their anniversary dinner, she reveals that he crossed a boundary by shutting down and saying “F you” during their disagreement. Derek becomes increasingly frustrated when Katie refuses to let the situation go. Eventually they finally apologize to one another and attempt to enjoy their night. It doesn’t hurt that Derek surprises his wife with a trip to Nashville and a framed photo collage of their families. I hope Katie stops focusing on hearing ‘I love you’ and really look at Derek’s actions. It seems like he puts in a lot of effort to try to make her happy.
