In case anyone was wondering why Pete Hunziker is barely on this season of Below Deck Mediterranean, he got fired from the show after posting some racist memes. Sure, it’s a little fruitless to be “fired” from a show that’s already been filmed with cast members that rarely last more than one season. Nevertheless, they’ve edited out his confessionals and he has very minimal appearances in the episodes, except for when he’s offending his female co-workers. He seems like a stand up guy, right?
After posting the horrific meme, he “defended” himself by saying he’s “VERY sexually active with women of all races.” Ugh. How cringe-worthy. Then, he deleted all of his social media pages. Now, he’s back on the gram to apologize… months later.
Pete posted, “A little over 3 months ago someone sent me a meme on social media and I thoughtlessly reposted it. I now realize how painful the imagery and symbolism is and, upon deeper consideration, I realize the implicit bias that exists in the brief text written in the meme is offensive.”
Really, Pete? “Implicit bias”? That meme was about as explicit has it gets. We will not describe it here because it’s just too awful, but you can check out our original story on this with a link to the content.
Pete wrote, “To all [of] those I have hurt and offended please know that I am genuinely sorry. I have always fully supported equal rights and equal opportunities for ALL people.”
The disgraced deckhand concluded, “Be safe, stay well, and always think before you post…. with love, Pete.”
I’m all for people making genuine changes and learning from their mistakes, but this does not seem that way. It just seems like some ignorant party boy trying to save face. Too little too late, Pete.

It’s a known fact that the Real Housewives franchises are short on diversity. Save for Real Housewives of Atlanta and Real Housewives of Potomac, the casting women of color is severely lacking. And while it’s progress, it took 10 whole seasons of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills before the first black woman, Garcelle Beauvais, was given a diamond.
The lack of diversity and inequality on Bravo was further highlighted this year during the Vanderpump Rules racism controversy. As a refresher, original cast members Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired for falsely accusing their only black castmate, Faith Stowers, of theft. In addition, two other newbies were let go for their past racist behavior online. All of this is to say that Bravo really needs to diversify. And it sounds like they are continuing to move in that direction.
The Real Housewives of New York might be getting a new housewife holding an apple next season. Ok! Magazine reported that a source close to the franchise is saying that Alicia Quarles, a Black woman, will be joining the cast. Alicia is best known for her work as a host on E! News and as a correspondent for Daily Mail TV. Aside from her professional accomplishments, Alicia is also a fixture on the Manhattan social and fashion scene.
While it’s not confirmed that she will be joining season 13 of the franchise, the source says that she quietly signed on within the last few weeks. Said the source, “Alicia deserves to be on the show because of who she is. But there is no doubt that recent events across the country provided a reckoning for television producers, and the Housewives have not been immune to that.”
Alicia joined E! News from The Associated Press where she was the Global Entertainment and Lifestyles Editor, overseeing a staff of more than 60 people. She also graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California, so Alicia is one smart cookie.
While a Bravo rep confirms Alicia has met with casting, they are not giving out any more details. The rep said, “she has absolutely not been cast.” Another source shares, “Alicia has just simply met with the casting agency for RHONY as have numerous other women who have been recommended by the current New York Housewives. That is as far as the discussion with Alicia has gone.”
Given her background in television, fashion and the Big Apple social scene, I think Alicia would make an excellent addition. Who better to go toe to toe with the ladies of RHONY?

Well Kathryn Dennis is never at a loss for stirring things up, I’ll give her that. The Southern Charm star has been embroiled in drama from the gate. It made for some Dynasty-level dramatics. Of course she couldn’t have done it without the aid of, Thomas Ravenel. Drugs? Duh. Rehab? Of course! Arrested baby daddy with a sexual harassment charge? Naturally! The only thing we were missing was a rogue kidnapping to a tropical island by a jilted lover. But there’s always next season. Ultimately Kathryn addressed her issues and began her journey to kind-of sobriety, along with being a more responsible parent.
But Kathryn is gonna Kathryn. In May of this year, she got involved in a racist scandal. Her tone deaf and irresponsible actions put even more of a damper on her already shaky reputation. Kathryn has since apologized and promised to “work on herself”. Which sounds vaguely familiar for some reason… Recently, T-Rav’s ex-one night stand girlfriend gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. Obviously, this seems like an ideal time to tease the public with a possible new man. In the absence of scandal, Kathryn is still stirring it up.
The streets are saying Kathryn might have a new romantic interest. But it could be just a photo, and by “photo” I mean, a desperate case of, LOOKATMELOOKATMEitis. Sadly, there is no known cure for this disease, but it is highly contagious among the dying-to-be-relevant clique. While I want to believe this display of friendship and affection is genuine, my shade senses are on high alert.
The Blast shared snaps of work-in-progress Kathryn getting close with a male friend. Kathryn attended birthday festivities with a buddy and naturally pics popped up on social media. She was chilling between a man’s legs and the guy appears to be kissing her on the head.
But wait, there’s more! This is my favorite part, please move towards the closest fainting couch. The man in the photos is a former college football player. His name is… wait for it… Chleb Ravenell. HIS LAST NAME IS RAVENELL, I CANNOT! Honestly, this might be the gift that keeps on giving.
One might wonder what Thomas will make of this new information. Surely he is too busy with his new baby to worry about who Kathryn is dating. Right? You never know, Cupid’s arrow could have finally tagged Kathryn, this might be her happily ever after. That said, ‘ol Kath could wind up with those monogrammed Ravenel(l) tea towels after all.

Tonight we were in for a supersized episode of Below Deck Mediterranean, which delivered supersized drama of epic proportions for Kiko Lorran.
All the pressure was on the chef this week to deliver a Vegas-themed feast. But like any bad trip to Sin City, what happened in the galley didn’t necessarily stay in the galley. If the previews for next week are any indication, it appears some major changes are about to happen aboard The Wellington. But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves, shall we?
Last week’s reprimanding from Captain Sandy Yawn left may have poor Kiko in tears, but there’s no time for crying because we have another preference sheet meeting to attend to! This week’s charter guests are Sean Foote, an Atlanta-based record label owner and real estate developer, his wife Crystal, an advertising executive, and their closest friends. The primary’s favorite foods include totally normal yachting fare like fried chicken, beef sliders and nachos. Among their other requests on the four-day charter are an anniversary dinner on Night 1, a trip into Mallorca on Day 2 complete with a casino night and a 90s-themed party on Night 3. Sounds easy, right? (Think again, those nachos will come back to haunt us all.)
Since the charter doesn’t start until the next morning, the crew gets ready for a night out in Port Adriano. While flirtations are still flying between Alex Radcliffe and Bugsy Drake, and Rob Westergaard and Jessica More are fully in boatmance mode, Kiko decides to stay behind and focus on the work he has to do for the upcoming charter. Naturally, the crew gossips at dinner about Kiko’s failures over the last two charters. However, the chef explains via confessional how his mentality coming from Brazil motivates him to never give up. Meanwhile, the most exciting thing in Palma is Bugsy’s penchant for sparkly hair clips, which frankly pales in comparison to Bravo’s unparalleled queen of hair accessories Dorit Kemsley.
The next morning, it becomes clear that the other target for this charter has firmly landed on Jessica‘s back. The third stew’s broken finger already has Captain Sandy questioning whether she can keep up, and now there are multiple issues happening in the laundry room — Jess’s primary job on the boat. If a few weeks ago was Messy Jessie and the Case of the Missing Epaulet, this week it’s the Case of the Crew Uniforms.
It seems that somewhere along the way, Jess told Malia White that crew uniforms weren’t a priority. The bosun relays this information to Hannah Ferrier…right in front of Captain Sandy, who’s naturally listening in on their meeting. Oops. The game of telephone quickly devolves, making Jess look bad. When confronted, the stew insists it was a simple misunderstanding, but Sandy’s anger is already brewing. However, the fact is that while, yes, things are missing from the laundry for nearly everyone, Jess seems to be getting blamed for a lot of issues that frankly aren’t her fault. Or at the very least, problems that should be the responsibility of her higher-ups. (Cough, cough, looking at you, Hannah.) Either way, Jess had better perform perfectly this charter or else.
The charter guests arrive, and it quickly becomes apparent that they’re both high maintenance and ready to party. Kiko is determined to make everyone happy, but right off the bat, the co-primary wants to have a chat about the menu. Every preference sheet is different — some guests don’t eat meat, but will eat fish. Some are strictly gluten-free. And others don’t even want any vegetables. However, they all agree that the oysters Kiko greeted them with, as well as the paella for their first lunch, are generally delicious. However, Sandy decides the filet mignon looks terrible and Kiko admits that it seems all the captain wants to do when she comes to the galley is judge him rather than help.
Next, the deck crew finally sees some action when two of the guests decide to take a jet-ski out for a spin. However, the sea is rough and choppy, with swells coming in, and before you know it, they’ve tipped the water toy and landed straight in the ocean. Another guest on board yells out that — despite wearing a life jacket — one of their friends in the water doesn’t know how to swim. That’s all Malia needs to hear to rip her mic pack off and dive in like she’s on Baywatch, swimming out to save the day with Alex right behind her. Overall, the deck crew handled the minor emergency like a well-oiled machine, even with Creepy Pete Hunziker weighing them down. Eventually, the sea gets so rough that the boat is forced to pick up anchor and head back to port.
That evening is the 15th-anniversary dinner for two of the charter guests, and it’s all hands on deck in the galley to help Kiko succeed. Plus, the pressure is on because Sandy is joining the guests for the meal. Dinner only starts five minutes late, and despite Kiko’s nerves, it looks delicious. First, he pulls off seared scallops on a bed of savage rice with a strawberry vinaigrette for a starter. Then, the main course is bacon-wrapped chicken with potatoes au gratin, a perfect marriage of Kiko’s rustic cooking style and the expectations of a super yacht. Finally, the dessert consists of classic tiramisu, and even Sandy is singing Kiko’s praises by the evening’s end.
The next morning, Kiko‘s confidence is boosted and the guests are ready to get off the boat. Bugsy and Alex are the lucky pair chosen to take the guests ashore for an excursion from Palma to Sóller. The day trip consists of a ride on one of the world’s oldest electric trams. However, it’s really just a perfect excuse for more sparks to fly between the two yachties. The guests even take notice, asking if the pair are together. The day out soon morphs into something of a date for Alex and Bugsy. And I must say, of all the boatmances in Below Deck history, I’m here for this one. Are you shipping Alex and Bugsy as much as I am yet? Or maybe just crushing on Alex? The man proves to be more charming and thoroughly adorable with each passing episode.
Faster than you can say “Viva Las Vegas,” the casino night dinner is upon us. And since he’s never been to Sin City, Kiko leans on Hannah for guidance with the evening’s menu. She’s suggested plenty of finger foods (like nachos), all things fried, and brownies for dessert. Meanwhile, Pete and Alex are going to be dressed up as the Wellington Chippendales, complete with drawn-on bowties.
However, the dinner immediately gets off to a bad start when Hannah sees what Kiko‘s serving. While the parmesan truffle fries look scrumptious, his take on nachos rival Mila Kolomeitseva‘s from last season. In fact, they might be even worse. I’m not sure why exactly nachos are always the downfall of every Below Deck Med chef, but here’s a hint. The secret to good nachos involves nacho cheese. When Sandy drops by to check on the guests, they quickly complain about the food. It’s “too much fried,” they say. It’s “like a kid’s birthday party,” the co-primary jokes. Uh oh. Sandy spots the nachos and now she’s on the warpath.
Captain Sandy charges down to the galley, ready to take Kiko to task. First she reams out Bugsy, then Hannah — questioning why she served Kiko’s nachos but not Mila‘s. Hannah passes the buck, and now Kiko has to face Sandy’s wrath. He defends himself by pointing out that he’s never even been to Vegas, which Sandy takes issue with. (Because apparently it’s his fault that, being from Brazil, he’s never been to Nevada?) She then throws his dinner from the night before under the bus, calling it crew food, and Kiko is done. He tells Sandy point blank that if she wants to fire him, he’ll leave. But Sandy wants to finish the charter first, and then Kiko will be out. Ugh, all I can say is poor Kiko.

Last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance The Other Way clearly had a reoccurring theme, family. Almost every single story line this episode involved a family member who was trying to guide the couple through some issue. When I say guide, I mean meddle, for most. But hey, what are your loved ones for if they can’t try to stop you from making major mistakes in life.
Tim gets the welcome from Melyza that he feared the most. Ariela Weinberg‘s mother goes on the offensive to protect her daughter. Brittany Banks and Yazan Abo Horira turn to an ally for help. Kenneth Niedermeier and Armando Rubio ‘s first trip into town together worries them both. Tired of Jihoon Lee‘s lies, Deavan Clegg presses for the truth. Let’s get straight to the 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way recap!
After urging from Ariela’s mother, Janice the happy couple spend the night in the hotel with her. I have never seen a room with three twin beds in one room in a row. Biniyam Shibre must really be trying to win over his future mother-in-law because that had to be SUPER awkward. Janice is pleasantly surprised by the conditions when she visits the hospital where Ariela would deliver her baby. I’m sure she was expecting to whisk Ariela back to the states immediately after seeing something that didn’t meet her standards.
Unfortunately for Biniyam, he becomes Janice’s target when the hospital fails to give her an excuse. This woman doesn’t miss a thing! Janice interrogates Biniyam about his past and his current intentions. Poor Biniyam was so nervous if I didn’t know better I would have thought he was being questioned by law enforcement while a light was shined in his face. When asked about his ex-wife, he claims she left him because he had female friends.
When pressed further, he is adamant he did nothing wrong. Insert side eye. Biniyam is clearly hiding something. There is no way his ex-wife took his child and ran back to the U.S. for no reason. Janice then asks how he plans on supporting her daughter in the lifestyle she is accustomed to living. Biniyam believes his career dancing and eventually singing will pay the bills. This is not going well. Even Ariela doesn’t look confident anymore.
Melyza has a mix of emotions as she waits for Tim to arrive in Columbia. She is battling between the happy thoughts of their past and the distrust that currently plagues their relationship. But when they see each other, they seem genuinely happy. In a post interview, Melyza admits Tim looks completely different now that he has gained weight. Well a year of being depressed tends to do that to you. Obviously she expected him to be tiny because she picked him up in a vehicle the size of a clown car packed with suitcases and her 2 dogs.
During lunch, Melyza makes Tim recount the details of his decision to cheat. Sigh! Nothing good is going to come from this conversation. If you are going to forgive him, then you are going to have to start fresh, at some point. It’s not healthy to keep reopening the same would over and over. As they argue about the situation, Tim can’t help but feel like they will never get past his indiscretion. Maybe it’s a good idea he kept his apartment and job. I don’t know how long this is going to last.
Deavan takes her mother, Elicia on a tour of the market. Little Drascilla may be having a fun time watching fish butchered, but Elicia still isn’t convinced about South Korea. Deavan’s realizes very quickly she isn’t equipped to venture out in the city without Jihoon to help her. At lunch, Deavan decides that the only way to find out any real answers about her husband is to speak with his mother. After she made excuses for his immaturity last week, good luck girlfriend. Something tells me Deavan’s mother-in-law isn’t going to give her what she wants.
Deavan meets Jihoon and his parents for dinner to discuss their issues. Things get off to a bad start when Jihoon walks right past his wife as if he doesn’t see her. His dad is the one who actually greets her and helps her carry the baby into the dining area. As if things couldn’t get worse, the translator device isn’t working and Deavan can’t understand most of the conversation. Jihoon becomes increasing frustrated when he continues to try to apologize and take accountability, but isn’t able communicate with his wife.
Literally everything he says into the translator comes back as something totally different. Jihoon’s mom doesn’t make it any better by her frosty demeanor throughout the conversation. When Deavan goes into dramatics claiming Jihoon has ruined her life, he storms out of the dinner. Well, that meeting wasn’t productive at all. These two seem like they would have communication issues regardless if they spoke the same language. We all know he lied, how are you going to move forward?
While walking around exploring the city, Kenneth feels slighted when Armando refuses to display any affection in public. Armando is concerned about their safety as a gay couple living in Mexico. He feels like Kenneth is trying to push him to be comfortable with his sexuality, despite it being new to him. Kenneth will have to be patient as his man gets adjusted to his new life.
I feel bad for Kenneth because he clearly just wants to feel loved by his partner. But he has had forty years to develop his level of comfort. Armando on the other hand, isn’t going to change overnight. It will take time for their relationship to grow, but hopefully they find their footing.
A much calmer Brittany has emerged to meet with Yazan’s uncle. Yazan hopes he will be able to convince his uncle to help get his parents on board to push back the wedding. After listening intently, the uncle agrees to speak to his brother to ask him to slow down the wedding preparations. He believes that Brittany should be given time to be certain that she is ready to accept Yazan’s religion, culture and traditions.
I understand why Yazan chose his uncle to be his spokesperson, he seemed very understanding of their situation. Brittany is inwardly giving herself a high five now that she thinks she has bought herself more time. Hopefully she actually uses this time to decide if she is genuinely ready to completely change her life. Also, there is still the issue of her currently being married. It’s only a matter of time before this house of cards comes tumbling down.
