Josh Martinez ‘Royally F–ed Up’ on Destination X – Exclusive

Well, the new NBC series Destination X just reached its first European stop and eliminated its first player. And that player was Big Brother winner Josh Martinez. The series, hosted by actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, features a group of contestants traveling across Europe in a bus with blacked-out windows.

The goal of winning a challenge is to obtain clues to Destination X. In the map room, competitors must put their X on a map. And the person who is furthest away from their true location is given the boot. Plus, the last player standing will take home $250,000.

Josh was one of five contestants sent to the map room. Most of the players knew they were in Italy. Somewhere.

“I think the whole world is about to be shocked that I was off first. Yeah. A hundred and ten percent,” Josh told Reality Tea. “I think the hardest part was once I got off the bus, and I see the faces of the producers. And I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’ Obviously, they don’t tell you anything.” The Challenge star added, “But you know, I can read body language. And I’m like, ‘Oh. I royally f*cked this up.’”

He continued, “I’m such a gamer. I love to compete. Even if I didn’t win the show, I’m all about life experiences, and for it to be cut so short, so quick, because I didn’t trust my gut is really disappointing. I don’t plan on retiring from reality TV. I’m going to go hungrier on my next show and be ready to game, because I didn’t have the ability to really play. And that’s what sucks.”

Meanwhile, Josh listened to co-star Rick Szabo, who told him they were in Milan. Unfortunately, they were in Rome. So, what would Josh do differently? “Trust my gut,” Josh explained. “But I think the lesson here is to just trust your gut on people, on situations, to trust yourself and be more confident in your abilities. Because I had all the skill set to do really well and win this game.” He added, “And, you know, I didn’t trust myself. So, I think that’s the biggest takeaway.”
