The Three Big Moments That Broke the Sister Wives Family

Since 2010, Sister Wives has been a staple on TLC. And while the show has had quite a run, it isn’t without a few hiccups. Naturally, there have been a few issues on more than one occasion that led to the Browns being torn apart by egos. As Season 19 starts to wind down, it’s essential to look at where the polygamous family went wrong. And it isn’t hard to find the starting point. Let’s take a look.

Like Robyn Brown or not, she strategically inserted herself into an already established polygamous family. Robyn was first married to David Jessop, but after their divorce in 2007, she set her eyes on Kody Brown. The pair met at a gathering held at Robyn’s cousin’s home. From then on, the duo started dating, and their relationship was captured during Season 1. Almost immediately, fans noticed that Kody treated Robyn differently. He basically made out with her and was late to Christine Brown’s birth of Truly Brown because he was hanging out with his new lady.

As Season 1 continued, Kody was called out for having a lavish wedding while his first three wives were told they were not allowed to do so. It was also upsetting to learn that Kody had helped pick out Robyn’s wedding gown. Resentment and jealousy started to brew among Meri Brown, Christine, and Janelle Brown, which eventually led to fractured relationships. It became clear that Robyn was placed on a pedestal. Robyn was moved into the Utah compound, where she became the neck that turned Kody’s head. Nothing has been the same since.

The Sister Wives move to Arizona

I’ll never understand why Kody felt it was the right move to uproot his family and relocate to Arizona. As Sister Wives viewers will recall, the family escaped in the dead of night from Utah due to fear of Kody being arrested. Over the years, the city of Lehi has denied that they were ever investigating Kody for polygamy, but nonetheless, the family ran to Sin City. At first Las Vegas wasn’t what anyone wanted and the kids were pissed. But the Browns found the perfect cul-de-sac complete with four perfect houses. Everything was great until Robyn wanted to leave.

According to Paedon Brown, the reason behind the move was due to Dayton Brown’s college acceptance to North Arizona University. Paedon shared that the family was looking to move to Utah to be closer to family again. But the star noted, “And I can’t promise anything. I can’t speak toward dad [sic], but the thought of, ‘Hey, Flagstaff, Arizona, is a good place to move,’ does not exist. Like there is no reason,” Paedon said, adding that they have no family in the state. “And then dad decides we’re gonna move the entire family ‘cause Dayton got accepted to NAU. And therefore, Robyn said, ‘Well, I can’t let my little boy go.’ So, she told Dad.” Paedon clarified.“We did not get uprooted for Dayton, we got uprooted for Dad’s favorite wife. If Robyn knew how to clip an umbilical cord, Dayton would have been free.”

The feud with the Sister Wives’ children

The move led to quite a rebellion from the older generation of Brown children. It was a total Jedi vs. Sith moment, with Kody still playing the victim to this day. It all seemed to start during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kody set stricter rules than the CDC, and his college-age children were not having it. Many felt Kody and Robyn wanted to stay in their little bubble in order not to have to interact with the rest of the family. And naturally, the kids took it personally. Since 2023, Christine and Janelle have openly spoken about how their children just want a relationship with their dad.

Yet in a Season 17 episode, Kody puts the blame on them. Kody told cameras that, in his opinion, he isn’t “abandoning” his children — they have “betrayed me” by rejecting him. In the same breath, Kody added that his kids “shut him out” and are “colluding against him.” (Only a Sith deals in absolutes.) The patriarch forgets that he added to the mess. Kody has called Maddie Brown the family gossip, refused to show up for Ysabel Brown’s spine surgery, and tried to kick Gabriel Brown out of the house.

All three of these moments helped to crack the foundation of the Browns. Sadly, I don’t think there is a way to come back from it.

Bravo’s Love Hotel Season 2 Dream Cast: Which Real Housewives Should Join?

Bravo is playing matchmaker with the release of their new series Love Hotel, which premiered on the network in April 2025. The dating show follows a group of Housewives as they meet and date a group of eligible bachelors. Season 1 stars Luann de Lesseps, Shannon Beador, Ashley Darby, and Gizelle Bryant, a dynamic cast to kick off the show. Fans are loving the new show and are already fantasizing about which Bravolebs should appear on Season 2. We decided to join in on the fun and create our own dream cast list.

Here are four Real Housewives I want to see on Bravo’s Love Hotel Season 2.

Dorit Kemsley – Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Dorit Kemsley is back on the market after her split with PK Kemsley. According to People, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Star filed for divorce from the Talent Manager in April 2025, citing “irreconcilable differences.” That same month, PK fueled romance rumors after he was seen kissing actress Shana Wall. PK’s recent publicity has made fans eager to see Dorit with a new man. Even Bravo God Andy Cohen said he hoped to see her with a hot new guy soon on an April 2025 episode of Watch What Happens Live.

I think Dorit would be a great addition to the Love Hotel family. She’s been a married woman for her entire Bravo career, so fans have never seen her in single mode. Fans want to see Dorit get back out there, and selfishly, I want it to be filmed. The woman is great TV! We need her on Season 2 of Bravo’s Love Hotel.

Brynn Whitfield – Real Housewives of New York

Brynn Whitfield is a total catch. She’s smart, funny, and beautiful. It’s no surprise that three men wanted to marry her. She’s come close to walking down the aisle but has yet to say “I do.” She spoke about her three failed engagements during the Season 14 Real Housewives of New York reunion.

“Everyone makes fun of me about the engagements,” she told Andy. “Here’s the thing, all three of them proposed to me when we were broken up. My thing is like, why do you have to lose me to know that you want to be with me?”

We need Brynn’s playful attitude on Season 2 of Love Hotel. She’s a perfect fit for the new series. I mean, the girl could teach a course on flirting. Something tells me she will have no trouble finding a match.

Erika Jayne – Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Erika Jayne is technically married, but she and Tom Girardi are completely o.v.e.r. The RHOBH Star played the field a bit after her marriage ended, opting for more casual flings and avoiding long-term commitment. But it’s been a few years now, and she may be ready to find love again. I would love to see Erika dip her toe back into the dating world on Bravo’s Love Hotel. She went through hell with her ex and deserves to find a good partner. However, it may be hard for Bravo to find a man who can match her energy.

Mia Thornton – Real Housewives of Potomac

Mia Thornton confirmed her split from husband Gordon Thornton in September 2023. The news didn’t surprise fans, who witnessed the couple’s marital struggles play out on Real Housewives of Potomac. She moved on with radio personality Inc, also known as Incognito. The two dated in their youth and even went to prom together, but the romance ended with he moved to Georgia for a career opportunity. She referenced her new man in her Season 9 tagline, saying, “Marriage can be temporary, but Inc is permanent.” But unfortunately, the relationship didn’t last. They broke up in December 2024.

It appears Mia is currently single, which means a stay at the Love Hotel may be in her future. There are currently two RHOP ladies on Season 1, and hopefully, they’ll encourage their castmates to give the show a shot.

How Sister Wives’ Robyn Brown Getting ‘The Best’ Put a Strain on Relationships

It’s no surprise that Robyn Brown is still getting heat for the family’s problems. Sister Wives fans have always speculated that Kody Brown’s fourth wife was treated a bit differently. During the second half of Season 19, viewers were validated as the truth seemed to come out about Robyn. Even though Kody and Robyn felt they hid their soulmate relationship from everyone, it turns out the other three wives knew they were getting the short end of the stick.

Since leaving the Sister Wives clan, Christine Brown has been a running faucet of tea. The mother of six is no longer protecting Kody and his bad decisions. And TLC fans are living for her revelations. In the April 20th episode, while on the road with her husband, David Woolley, the TLC star revealed that Robyn was put on the pedestal she wished she had. Fans heard Christine share how she always felt left out in the marriage. “I felt like Robyn had a better couch. I felt like she had better dishes and better decorations, and like so many things.” Christine went on to describe how Kody’s favoritism upset her. She drove the point home, asking, “Why am I left with all these scraps all the time? Scraps of time, scraps of stuff.”

“I feel stronger, more independent now than I ever did before because you’re so supportive. There’s no 50/50,” gushed Christine. While David lovingly told his wife that no one should “ever keep score in a marriage,” adding that both he and Christine give “100 percent” to one another. Christine then told David, “They do keep score, and it’s sad.”

During the same conversation, Christine admitted she was jealous of how Kody treated Robyn. She brought up an example of when the family went on one particular vacation. “There were so many times in my marriage with Kody where he was, he liked makeup. It was like you had to always, always look nice. It mattered to him so much.” She added “We’d go camping, and Janelle and I would be sitting there busting our butts getting breakfast made, cleaning up the mess, and honestly, Robyn would be doing her makeup forever.”

The mother of six then added that Kody would add insult to injury by praising Robyn for her looks. “No wonder I was constantly wondering and constantly insecure because as much as I was comparing, he was also comparing all the time,” revealed Christine. “Robyn was up on this pedestal, and the rest of us were just lacking. I felt like I was lacking in the relationship,” Christine added. But Robyn quickly countered, sharing, “The one time we went camping, I was six months pregnant, and I got sick a lot. I spent the night barfing my guts up outside my tent on my hands and knees.”

Kody’s fourth wife added, “And then, you know, Janelle and Christine were making breakfast, and I was just trying to hurry and get ready for the day.” Kody had his own response during his confessional regarding David and Christine’s open conversation. His comments unsurprisingly hit back at Christine’s claims. The polygamous patriarch noted, “When a relationship is united, you don’t tend to keep scores much because you’ve got a cloak of charity to put over this person that you love.” Robyn wondered, “If you’re sitting there constantly using that scoreboard against each other, what are you enemies?”

For Robyn, it was all about communication. She told cameras, “I felt like when the family was together, there was unfair fighting that was happening, for sure. That is a big part of the family falling apart. Was [that] there’s just so little trust with each other.” After more than ten years on the small screen, Robyn and Kody still won’t admit that their love story was a big part of what wrecked their polygamous dream. It is clear that Kody’s treatment of all his wives caused immense pain and confidence blows. However, Kody is more than happy to still think it was his first three wives who failed at marriage, not him.
