Role Model finally revealed why he missed one of the biggest celebrity weddings of the year. The singer received an invitation to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s New York City wedding. However, work commitments kept him away from the celebration.
Role Model shares why he had to skip Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding
The singer, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, opened up about the missed event in an interview with “NYLON“, published on Aug. 4. “I couldn’t go,” he said. “I was busy in the middle of an album rollout, but it looked amazing.”
Role Model has spent the past several weeks promoting his third studio album, Chuck Timely & The Hourglass, which arrives on Aug. 7. The busy schedule reportedly prevented him from attending Swift and Kelce’s July 3 wedding.
Although he skipped the star-studded ceremony, weddings still played a major role in shaping his new music.
The singer revealed that attending his first wedding as an adult last year inspired a new track called “The Wedding,” which also releases on Friday.
Role Model admitted he never found marriage particularly romantic before that experience.
“Marriage is not that romantic to me,” he said. “Being with someone for life is romantic to me. But the whole idea of going into a church and inviting all these people? That was never attractive to me. Then I went to my first wedding, and I cried.”
He explained that the emotional moment came from watching people around him enter new chapters of life while he felt stuck. His sister’s wedding had an even bigger impact. “That one also kicked my a**,” he admitted.
Role Model also reflected on how every summer makes him question his path. He said he often misses his hometown in Maine and longs for a more normal life away from the spotlight.
Those feelings helped shape Chuck Timely & The Hourglass. He previously described the project as inspired by a fictional character named Chuck Timely and by his experiences navigating adulthood while friends settled down and got married.
The singer also confirmed another headline-making detail during the interview. He revealed that he and actress Dakota Johnson are together.
Johnson even made a cameo on his song “Love I You.” Role Model admitted he initially resisted mixing work with his relationship. However, he quickly changed his mind after watching her record the part.
“So I was like, ‘OK, if she’s down’ — I mean, that’s an amazing cameo,” he said.
