Welcome back to Southern Hospitality Season 4 recaps! This week, the gang heads out for a quick trip. They don’t leave the tension behind, though. In this episode, Michols is on the outs with Lake, Brad doesn’t want to talk to Emmy, and TJ and Michols might just be perfect for each other. Here’s everything that happened in Southern Hospitality Season 4, Episode 5: “Float Around and Find Out.”

What Went Down on Southern Hospitality Season 4 Episode 5?

The last episode ended on a cliffhanger with Emmy spiraling after Lake pulled Brad aside to talk. There is a lot of unpack there. But this episode opens on a less controversial note. Joe is visiting the venue for his upcoming 30th birthday party, and he’s stoked!

He’s going for a big emo-themed event as he bids RIP to his 20s. And it’s just not going to be a party for friends. Joe’s planning on turning it into a full concert event.

Mia, on the other hand, is talking with her dad. She’s not 100% okay after her breakup with Troy. It turns out, Troy packed up Mia’s things and was sending them off, only for the box to be stolen from his porch.

She lamented losing her Miss World trophy, YSL bag, and some other personal effects. She felt Troy’s carelessness with her things may mean the breakup wasn’t as amicable as she thought.

Mia’s dad wasn’t worried. He told her that they were just material things. Mia agrees and tells him she’s a phoenix who will rise from the ashes.

TJ and Maddi prepare a fun forest and tubing trip for the crew

Meanwhile, TJ and Maddi are planning a fun getaway. TJ is looking at cabins to rent and Maddi is booking their tubing adventure.

Ironically, this trip is thanks to the PowerPoint presentation Maddi made for TJ to showcase their friendship. While it won’t see the light of day (thank you, Julia!), it did remind Maddi that they used to go on so many fun trips together, and she wants to do that again.

So they’re planning on going tubing and staying in the forest. TJ is even planning for the boys to wear matching overalls. This makes Maddi think she should prepare a dress code for the girls to make it a full hoe down theme.

It’s another fun afternoon at Republic. Maddi is back on the turntable, but there’s an underlying tension in the air. Brad is still ignoring Emmy and Michols appears to be mad at Lake but she doesn’t know why.

It turns out Michols is upset because he spoke to Lake about Brad’s issues with Emmy in confidence. He asked her to keep it private, but she didn’t. She turned around and told Ella, who then told Emmy. Michols doesn’t like that Lake broke his trust.

As for Emmy, she knows Brad’s giving her the cold shoulder, and she can’t understand why. She tells Maddi that she thought everything was fine after Folly Beach. However, what she doesn’t know is that Justin told Brad that Emmy’s apology was performative.

Emmy tries to pull Brad aside for a chat, but he honestly shares that he’s not ready to talk about it just yet. He told her that he would hear her out, but he just needed more time.

Emmy definitely takes Brad’s request for more time the wrong way. “I’m being silenced,” she said. Wait, what?

Pedis, Raya, and thirst traps with Michols and TJ

Nothing got resolved at Republic, and it looks like more conversations need to happen. But for now, Michols and TJ enjoy a quiet afternoon hanging out and getting pedicures.

Michols is giggling while chatting with someone on his phone. TJ clocks it immediately and asks if he’s going on a date. It turns out Michols has had his share of dates thanks to Raya. He’s single and ready to mingle (and his half naked photos certainly help!)

Meanwhile, TJ hasn’t had a good date in a long while. Michols thinks he might be too picky, while TJ says it’s harder to date when you’re older. Hilariously, while the two boys were asked to describe their ideal type, it looks like they would fit each other’s criteria.

Will something more come from this? We’ll find out!

It’s time for the hoe down throwdown, and everyone’s going!

But first, it’s time to get out of town! The gang is ready to go, and they’ve got the cowboy hats to prove it. The drive to the vacation spot is fun, and everyone is oversharing.

Julia shares that TJ and Michols made out for at least an hour at the bar in Folly (with the timestamped videos and photos to prove it). We also learn that both Justin and TJ have tasted their own bodily fluids.

While the other cars are having fun and laughing, the car with Emmy, Lake, and Bella is pretty quiet. Both Emmy and Lake are bothered by their ongoing issues with Brad and Michols.

Emmy wants to pull Brad aside for a chat, because she’s still convinced she didn’t do anything wrong. Lake tried to say that she understands Brad’s point about the microaggression, but Emmy isn’t hearing it.

“At the end of the day, I did nothing. I did nothing, I did nothing. I did absolutely f*cking nothing,” Emmy said.

Tubes and truths on the Edisto River

The cabin is gorgeous. Rooms are chosen (Michols and TJ are sharing…), and everyone is relaxing and unpacking. After a little chilling and some TikTok trends, it’s time to go tubing and share some truths!

The whole gang lazes down the river together, enjoying drinks and good conversation. They discuss who the oldest person is that they’ve been with. Molly reveals she’s been with a 64-year-old man.

As for Joe, his number depends on whether or not they believe he actually hooked up with the Countess. Joe is adamant that he didn’t sleep with Luann, and Maddi believes it because she knows Joe was drunk that night. She confirms Joe’s junk doesn’t work when he’s had a lot to drink.

Speaking of hooking up, Brad shares with Mia that Justin spoke with Jordyn, presumably because he wants a shot with her!

At the end of the day, Lake discovers that Mama knows best

It looks like everyone is having fun (even Emmy), but Lake is not feeling it. She knows Michols is mad, and he doesn’t want to talk to her. This makes her just want to go home.

In the end, as the group is about to head out, Lake calls her mom because she’s the one she trusts the most when things go south.

And her mama really gave it to her straight. She asked Lake why she even told Ella anything at all. She said that Lake needs to stop breaking people’s trust and running her mouth. Lake’s mom tells her daughter that that’s what gets her in trouble, and she needs to stop doing it and “pull her sh*t together.”

Lake’s mama hit the nail on the head. We’ll have to wait and see if Lake can mend fences with Michols (like Molly did). But for now, MVP of this episode = Lake’s mom.

Southern Hospitality airs Thursday nights at 9/8c on Bravo. It streams on Peacock.

TELL US – DO YOU AGREE WITH LAKE’S MOM? DO YOU THINK EMMY WILL EVER ADMIT SHE DID SOMETHING WRONG?
