Cardi B has secured another legal win. After winning the assault and battery lawsuit against her former security guard late last year, the rapper has won a case again after a judge dismissed a $50M copyright infringement lawsuit filed by Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar against her.
Cardi B scores new courtroom win as judge dismisses $50M copyright infringement lawsuit against rapper
In September, Cardi B won a case against former security guard Emani Ellis after a Los Angeles jury found the rapper not liable for assault and battery against her. The former guard had sued the star for $24 million over an alleged assault in 2018. Months after the win, Cardi B has scored another courtroom win. It was after a federal judge dismissed a $50 million copyright lawsuit tied to her single “Enough (Miami).”
According to PEOPLE, on Monday, March 30, U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez dismissed the case. It was filed by Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar against the rapper in July 2024, without prejudice. The pair had accused Cardi’s song “Enough (Miami)” was “copied. Not just that, it was “misappropriated and profited” off their own song “Greasy Frybread,” which they said they produced for Sten Joddi.
The plaintiffs alleged the rapper “unlawfully duplicated” the song. It was released without their permission under the name “Enough (Miami)” in March 2024. It hurt their reputation in the industry and “caused them to be blacklisted.”
However, Cardi B and her attorneys filed several motions in the case. They claim that “Greasy Frybread” wasn’t copyright-protected at the time the lawsuit was filed. Notably, “Greasy Frybread” wasn’t officially registered until October 31, October 2025, more than a year after the suit was filed. “Obviously, we are very pleased with today’s order and appreciate the court’s careful consideration of the issues,” said Cardi’s attorney Lisa F. Moore in a statement to Rolling Stone.
