Welcome to the recap for Summer House Season 10, Episode 3. Last week, newbie Mia joined the group and brought in the good vibes. Bailey confessed her crush on Ben to Levi, who warned that Ben was just being polite. And the relationship struggles between Kyle and Amanda continued when Amanda rejected Kyle’s apology for airing out their dirty laundry to the group. Kyle crashed out, leaving everyone shook. Would they be able to move forward? Here’s exactly what went down in Summer House Season 10, Episode 3: “Apology Dunes.”
What happened in Summer House Season 10, Episode 3?
Kyle apologized to Amanda again for talking about her behind her back. But all Amanda wanted was for Kyle to stop drinking. However, that message seemed to be lost on Kyle. West was ecstatic when Ciara was nice to him during their night out. But when she made a comment to him about wearing her sunglasses, he was back to not being sure where they stood. And Jesse was ready for a girlfriend but was having no luck. Ciara advised he find someone more direct … like her.
Carl is the Kyle whisperer
We continued where we ended last week, with Kyle running off because Amanda didn’t accept his apology. Mia was shocked that everyone ate dinner like nothing happened. Welcome to your new normal!
The group nominated Carl to go calm Kyle down, as he was the resident Kyle whisperer. And poor Carl got an earful. Kyle vented about Ciara, “I can’t even apologize without being crucified and being laughed at. And it rubs off on Amanda. She’s given up. Just like, for once, could Ciara maybe, maybe, maybe, be a friend to both of us? She’s never gone to bat for me. Neither has my wife, by the way. I’m literally, literally, all alone.” Well, not literally.
Carl’s pep talk worked, however, and Kyle came inside to put up his “fake friends” in Club Send It, which were life-sized cardboard cutouts of everyone at the house. He put Amanda and Ciara together and said, “This is where the haters hang out.”
As everyone marveled at the room, Ciara was offended West was wearing her sunglasses. She told him, “Take my sunglasses off your sweaty f*cking forehead.” This left West shook. In his confessional, he said, “I never even know if we’re friends, if we’re flirting, or if she hates my guts.”
While everyone got ready to go out, Kyle apologized to Amanda. Amanda thanked him, but then Kyle had to poke the bear and claimed he tried to apologize earlier, but he couldn’t speak to her because she was high. And this sent them off spiraling once again.
Ciara thinks Jesse should date someone like her
While everyone was out partying, Mia was in bed catching up with her boyfriend, Scott. He’s a successful restauranteur, which Mia loved. What she didn’t love, though, was the fact she only saw him half the year.
Meanwhile, Ciara checked in with Amanda and dropped a truth bomb. She said, “I’m not saying because he’s a bad guy, but you do deserve better.” Amanda agreed but wondered if she’d ever be good enough for someone else.
The next morning Bailey and Levi caught up on yesterday’s dinner drama. Bailey could relate to Kyle and Amanda because she had a similar relationship. She told Levi, “I feel like they’re both, like, a big f*ck you every time. It’s like, well, this isn’t productive at all.”
Then Jesse went to Ciara’s room and dished about his love life to her and Mia. He said he hadn’t had a girlfriend in quite some time. Jesse added he hung out with a girl last night, but she was missing that “je ne sais quoi.” Ciara knew what he needed. Someone like her.
She advised, “Try dating somebody completely opposite of what you think your type is. Someone who’s like a little more fiery. Someone who’s like one gonna talk back and have like a f*cking opinion. A very strong opinion.” Jesse paused and said, “Yeah, opinions are good.”
In her confessional, Ciara said, “Jesse’s going to do what he thinks he can get away with. So he needs someone that won’t let him get away with anything. Could I be naming some characteristics of myself? Yes, but he likes that I don’t let him get away with anything … Not that everyone should be like me, but …” Was there a Jesse and Ciara romance in the works?
Kyle gave Amanda a non-apology on “apology dune”
Later on, everyone went to the beach. But the fun and games ended when Kyle and Amanda’s drama took over. Kyle took Amanda to the infamous “apology dune” to make things right, but things backfired instead.
Kyle shared that they really needed to work on their communication. Amanda agreed but said it was a two-way street. And she wasn’t going to do things for him if he wouldn’t do things for her.
Amanda said, “Like I need you to get your drinking under control.” She added, “I need to know that my husbands responsible enough to go out on his own and come back.” But Kyle didn’t think it was a problem. He said, “I only drink when I’m social.”
But that wasn’t Amanda’s only concern. She brought up him coming home late and the rumors of infidelity. Kyle complained that once they got engaged, Amanda started to say no to everything. She explained, “Me not going out with you shouldn’t change your faithfulness to me and how intoxicated you get when you go out.”
Then Kyle lost it on Amanda about the drinking accusations. He said, “You know what I think we actually have an issue with? Compatibility, chemistry, intimacy, I don’t know, common interests … I don’t know who I married anymore.” As Kyle ran off into the ocean, Amanda muttered, “Apology beach? I didn’t get one I’m sorry.”
But Kyle eventually came back. They brought up Kyle’s cheating from seven summers ago and how Amanda is receiving nonstop DMs that Kyle is up to something. But Kyle dodged that bullet and apologized for sharing their business instead.
Amanda accepted it but noted something had to change. She said, “I’m tired of having the same conversation every summer. Aren’t you?”
West and Ciara had a moment
After an exhausting day at the beach, everyone got ready to go out. Bailey caught up with KJ, who shared how his dad was MIA for most of his life. He opened up that he’s a good communicator because he was raised by all women. Kyle, take notes!
The group then split up for dinner. Jesse asked Amanda if she squashed her beef with Kyle. The short answer was no. But Amanda just wanted consistency from Kyle regardless if they were filming or not.
Back at the house, Mia had everyone play a game where they could ask any questions they wanted. West got grilled if he wanted to make out with Ciara. Shocker … the answer was yes. But the real grilling was saved for Kyle. When asked if he would spend less time DJing for Amanda, he stumbled. Luckily for him, he was saved by the bell.
Later on, Ciara got flirty with West. And West took notice. He told Jesse, “That was the best night I’ve had with Ciara in a thousand years.” Jesse said, “I love that you judge the fun of the night based off how nice Ciara was to you.”
Then Kyle went to bed with Amanda. As he closed his eyes, he said, “I don’t know how it got so complicated.” In her confessional, Amanda wondered, “What is it going to take for you to realize that bigger changes need to be made? Me threatening to leave you? Like, I don’t know.”
