Shia LaBeouf has been arrested for assault in New Orleans, according to local police.
Authorities have stated that the Holes actor was arrested during the Mardi Gras celebrations in the city, regarding the assault of two men outside of a bar.
Shia allegedly punched one man several times and another man on the nose during an altercation, according to police. Footage of the altercation has spread online since the incident.

Unverified footage online depicts Shia in an escalating altercation with patrons outside, after allegedly being cut off by the bar staff. TMZ, who released footage of the Transformers star being treated in an ambulance, allegedly was escorted out of a bar before “getting into a brawl.” After the supposed altercation was over, Shia is said to have “looped back around to the front of the bar”. He was treated for mild injuries following the fight, sources claim.
New Orleans police said in a statement that they were called at 12.45 a.m. regarding the actor’s reported behavior on Tuesday. A bar staff member had called the police, claiming that he had been punched by Shia. The former child star has been charged with two counts of simple battery.
“A man identified as 39-year-old Shia LaBeouf was reportedly causing a disturbance,” New Orleans police said in a statement. Shia was “increasing[ly] aggressive at a Royal Street business,” they added.
“Once removed from the building, the victim reported being struck by LaBeouf who used his closed fists on the victim several times,” they added.
The Indiana Jones actor then left, but then “came back, acting even more aggressive.” The police statement matches those of sources at TMZ. Shia then reportedly punched the same victim again and then assaulted another man, “punching him in the nose”.
Shia was LaBeouf then restrained until police arrived. He was later taken to hospital for the “treatment of unknown injuries” and charged after his release.
