Gina Carano will lock horns with one of the fiercest UFC fighters to ever set foot in the Octagon.
The 43-year-old has been away from MMA for 17 years. Back in 2021, Gina made headlines after being fired by Disney+ for controversial social media posts. She filed a lawsuit for alleged wrongful termination as a result. The matter was settled last August. She’ll be trading blows soon with one of the most ferocious women to grace women’s martial arts.
Gina Carano will fight Ronda Rousey on Netflix
It’s official, Gina and famed fighter Ronda Rousey are about to throw down in front of a live audience. For both ladies, it has been quite some time since they fought someone else for real.
Gina’s last MMA fight took place in 2009. As for Ronda, she transitioned from the UFC to the WWE and has not fought in MMA in over a decade. Gina claims that it was Ronda’s dream to make this upcoming fight happen. She adds that fighting Gina is the only reason Ronda would ever come back to an MMA ring.
Ronda announced the good news on X Tuesday, building it up as the “biggest super fight in women’s combat sport history!” Gina has an official MMA record of 7-1, while Ronda is 12-2. This event will take place at the Inuit Dome in Los Angeles.
Since leaving the Hexagon, Gina has featured in numerous TV shows and movies. She made seven appearances on The Mandalorian. As of August, her net worth is estimated at $5 million. In her wrestling career, Ronda has captured both the Raw and SmackDown women’s titles, along with the women’s tag team championship.
This upcoming fight will take place inside the Hexagon in the first-ever MMA event to be broadcast on Netflix on May 16. The rest of the lineup for the big event will be announced later.
