Joe’s eventual deportation marked the final chapter of their 20-year marriage. Teresa is now remarried to Luis Ruelas, Juicy Joe is gone, and the former couple co-parents with plenty of distance.
Now, Teresa is breaking down how Joe’s prison sentence and deportation pushed their marriage past the breaking point and sealed the split.

During a February 10 appearance on Fox 5’s Good Day New York, Teresa reflected on whether her marriage to Joe could have survived without the legal chaos that overtook their family. RHONJ viewers watched the cracks form in real time, and Teresa says hindsight makes the outcome feel unavoidable.
Teresa answered, “I don’t know. I think Joe and I weren’t meant to be together because we’re not together. I think things happen the way they are supposed to happen.”
For Teresa, Joe’s prison sentence and deportation marked a point of no return. “After that, it was totally done. Oh, yeah. There were no questions asked,” she explained. Reflecting on his removal from the U.S., she added, “Joe and I kind of got ripped apart.”
Teresa also made it clear the legal fallout permanently changed how she saw their marriage. “After the legal stuff, I was done with him because that should have never happened.”
Despite the split, Teresa says their daughters remain the focus. She even admitted she hopes Joe can eventually return to help raise them. “I wish he would come back because I have four daughters and they need their dad,” Teresa said. “I do it all by myself, everything, like, financially, everything. If he was here, he would be able to provide and help me. So I wish he comes back.”
