A former FBI agent says Nancy Guthrie’s abductor provided a big clue that was captured on her doorbell camera. Videos of the abductor were released on Tuesday, February 10 in the hopes the perpetrator will be recognized and captured.
Arizona’s Pima County Sheriff and the FBI have also been looking at her neighbors’ video footage for clues. Nancy was reported missing on Sunday, February 1, after missing a church service with her friends.
Nancy Guthrie’s suspected kidnapper has an “interesting gait”
Nancy’s Ring camera video shows what looks like a man walking slowly to the front door. He then sees the doorbell camera and attempts to cover it with his fist, which is covered by multiple gloves. He comes back with weeds in an attempt to cover the camera lens. According to reports, he ended up removing it entirely before breaking into the home of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie.
Tracy Walder, a former FBI agent and CIA member, told RadarOnline, “I think (the suspect’s) gait is interesting. While (their) walk is not overly distinctive, I do think that’s something the FBI could look at.” She also is surprised that the suspect’s eyes are exposed behind the mask. “I’m shocked (they) didn’t have some kind of night vision glasses to deter (their) eyes,” she notes.
With the clear doorbell image, authorities can “build a physical profile,” that will include shoe size and labels, along with height, weight, and gender.
Tracy says the kidnapping was “highly planned” as the suspect brought both a backpack and weapon. She notes burglary was not the goal, as they would have carried bags. The video proves that Nancy was the target of this crime. Although kidnapping was the plan, inexperience is evident by the video footage, she said.
The video’s release has resulted in many more leads, which the FBI is hopeful will lead them to the suspect.
