There has been a new development in the case of Nancy Guthrie, who went missing from her home in Arizona at the end of last month. Someone claiming to have knowledge of Nancy’s kidnapper is believed to have sent a ransom note. In return for giving up the information they allegedly have on the kidnapper, the letter sender has asked for Bitcoin funds.
Another note has been sent to TMZ as the search for Nancy Guthrie continues
TMZ today said it had recieved a ransom note in connection to Nancy’s disappearance. She is the daughter of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie. So far, several ransom notes have been sent to the family and other news outlets.
According to the newest note, the sender tried unsuccessfully to reach Savannah’s brother and sister by email and text. “If they want the name of the individual involved, then I want one Bitcoin to the following wallet,” the sender wrote. “Time is more than relevant.”
According to the outlet, the note contains a legitimate Bitcoin address. This address is different to the original ransom note that was sent to TMZ and two Tucson TV news stations. While it’s unclear who sent the alleged note, the request is oddly specific. One Bitcoin is currently worth about $66,000, which is just a few thousand more than the reward that law enforcement is offering for information leading to Nancy’s kidnappers.
TMZ said it has forwarded the latest ransom note to the FBI.
As the search for Nancy reaches its 10th day, her family members have shared renewed pleas for her to be sent home safely. Speaking on Instagram yesterday about her mom’s disappearance, Savannah said: “We believe our mom is still out there.”
