If Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke separating was a surprise to anyone, they only needed to see the Summer House Season 10 footage. The writing was on the wall. Without even knowing what led the former couple to that point, it’s clear their relationship needed a tremendous amount of work if it was to be salvaged.
The core Summer House cast was abreast of all the issues between Amanda and Kyle. But newbies Bailey Taylor and Levi Sebree listened to all the fighting without any context. Needless to say, they both felt “awkward” by Amanda and Kyle’s exchanges.
Kyle and Amanda apologized to the new Summer House cast members
During the most recent Summer House episode, a fight at the dinner table resulted in Kyle flipping his chair and sulking off. The reason? Amanda wanted a sincere, private apology rather than one delivered in front of the entire group. It all stemmed from Amanda’s penchant for smoking weed before bed. Kyle complained about the smell, and her habit, before later retracting with an apology.
Both Bailey and Levi told Decider that they found the meal “awkward,” though Bailey praised the former couple for their “honesty” and “vulnerability.”
“The category is awkward,” Levi explained. “I think that’s the best way to describe it because everyone wants to be calm and civil, but at the same time, it’s not a normal experience. It’s not normal, the fighting all the time.”
Bailey said, “I appreciated that they were being themselves. We’re all in a house together and we’re all living together for the summer, so it’s inevitable that things are going to happen and come out. So I appreciated the honesty and the vulnerability.”
Levi added, “I also think both of them were trying to be really respectful to the other people in the house. But it was awkward. It was definitely awkward at times. But they were always considerate, like, ‘We’re so sorry if this is impacting your summer.'”
