Despite divorcing in 1996, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson maintained a close friendship for decades, living together at his Royal Lodge mansion until very recently. But, amid the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein scandal, some insiders suspect Sarah might soon turn on her ex-husband.
The former Duchess of York feels “backed into a corner”
“Sarah feels backed into a corner,” an insider told Radar Online. “In her mind, she has reached a point where staying silent only deepens the damage to her own name.”
The source continued: “She believes she may have no alternative but to go rogue from the royals and lay bare Andrew Windsor’s dirty secrets in order to protect herself.”
This comes after the release of yet more files relating to Sarah and Andrew’s alleged former friend, Jeffrey. Among the recent batch of files were images of Andrew and an unidentified woman. There was also email correspondence between Sarah and the convicted sex offender. For his part, Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing, and inclusion in the files is not an indication of guilt.
That said, the insider claims Sarah feels let down by Andrew. “When Sarah revisits the timeline of what happened … it fuels a growing sense of anger.”
“With hindsight, she questions whether she was given the full picture. And whether she placed too much faith in Andrew’s reassurances,” they went on. “Now she feels she is bearing the consequences of choices that were not entirely hers. In her mind, she spent years shielding him from deeper fallout. That protective stance has severely damaged her own credibility and standing.”
As a result, the source suggested Sarah – who is allegedly “under real financial pressure” – might accept a book deal to save her reputation. “The sums being floated are substantial,” the insider claimed.
“When you are confronted with that kind of offer in the context of mounting expenses and limited alternatives, it becomes difficult to justify turning it down,” they continued. “She feels she cannot realistically ignore what is on the table.”
