Khloé Kardashian has been reflecting on her on-again-off-again romance with Tristan Thompson. In a new podcast episode, she even admitted to hitting him while they were together … but it wasn’t because of his alleged infidelities.
A romantic gesture led to the slap
Speaking on her Khloé In Wonder Land podcast, the Good American founder shared stories from her relationship with Tristan.
Without giving a specific date – although she did say it was before their son was born – Khloé recalled slapping Tristan after he set up a romantic gesture for her. She said that Tristan had arranged for singer Giveon to serenade her privately. An experience that she described as “mortifying.”
“It was, I think, just a random day because I wasn’t expecting it,” explained Khloé. “I remember I hated Tristan. I was like, ‘Why are you doing this?’ And [meanwhile] Giveon is pouring his heart out.”
“Tristan’s trying to sit next to me, and I’m like, slapping him, and poor Giveon is still singing,” she went on. Khloé felt “so annoyed” with Tristan that she needed to “get away” from him. To do that, she left the scenario by going to find their daughter, True.
“This was years ago. Tatum, wasn’t born,” she noted. “Yeah, it was just True.”
Khloé and Tristan first started dating in 2016, going public on a holiday to Mexico in September of that year, and Instagram official in October. At the time, Tristan’s ex was pregnant. The pair had a tumultuous on-again-of-again romance, which included notable cheating scandals. They split for good in 2021 and continue to co-parent their two kids.
That said, Khloé revealed in a March 2025 episode of her family’s reality TV series that True believes she and Tristan are married. “Kids should not be involved in adult problems,” Khloé said in defense of this.
