There’s renewed optimism that investigators may soon be able to solve Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Retired Phoenix police sergeant Troy Hillman thinks some newly released footage is the break investigators need. The 84-year-old mother of three has not been seen since January 31st, with little to no leads in the days following her disappearance.
Images from Nancy’s Nest doorbell camera could be extremely useful. Troy calls those photos a “huge break in the case.” Six black-and-white photos and three videos were released by the FBI showing the potential subject.
The search for Savannah Guthrie’s mom Nancy continues
It may be an encouraging lead for investigators. We’re over 10 days into the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, and police are still seeking suspects or persons of interest. Although you can’t clearly see the person’s face in the pictures, Troy thinks it can lead investigators to the alleged perpetrator. “You’ve got a lot of clues just baked in these,” Troy told US Weekly regarding the photos and video.
He says that even though the alleged kidnapper is wearing a ski mask, you can see distinctive eyebrows, what appears to be a mustache, and a height and weight that they can estimate. He believes this can enable authorities to obtain biometric data from facial features. A man was detained and released in connection with Nancy’s disappearance earlier this week. He claimed not to know who Nancy or Savannah were.
Among the other details the retired sergeant noticed in the photos and video are the backpack, the type of holster the alleged intruder had, and the kind of gloves and gun he had. A black glove, like the one the suspect may have worn, was found at Nancy’s Tucson home.
Since February 1, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office has received an estimated 18,000 tips about this case. Over the last 24 hours, they’ve reportedly had 4,000 calls about this matter.
