Courtney Love confirmed she mended fences with Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl. The former Nirvana drummer and Hole singer have feuded since Kurt’s 1994 suicide.
Dave included derogatory lyrics referring to Courtney in Foo Fighter songs. The two also had a tense legal fight regarding rights to Nirvana’s music, which concluded with a settlement in 2002.
Courtney Love appeared on The Magnificent Others with Billy Corgan
In a Wednesday, April 1 appearance on podcast The Magnificent Others with Billy Corgan, Courtney addressed Dave badmouthing her in the press. She urged him to “come out with it and just say we’re cool. Be man enough to man up.”
Courtney told Billy that Dave is scared his fans would disapprove if he supported her in public. “It would really behoove me if the straight white males that are your base, if you will, stop picking on me. The millennials in particular. Gen Z is not picking on me anymore.”
Billy, who said he’s hung out with Dave, “can confirm that … Dave doesn’t have any issue” with Courtney. She responded, “Say that to his base. It’s so stupid.”
Courtney then referred to songs Dave said he’d written about her, including “I’ll Stick Around” and “Let It Die.” Of the latter lyrics, Dave said to the Guardian, “[It’s] a song that’s written about feeling helpless to someone else’s demise. I’ve seen people lose it all to drugs and heartbreak and death. It’s happened more than once in my life, but the one that’s most noted is Kurt. And there are a lot of people that I’ve been angry with in my life, but the one that’s most noted is Courtney. So it’s pretty obvious to me that those correlations are gonna pop up every now and again.”
In 2014 Courtney verified the two were good during a Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance. “Me and Grohl, we’re totally tight. And I mean look, if you can give up a grudge like that — because there was a lot of crap that went on — I think anyone can do it,” she said.
