Sunny Hostin has never been one to shy away from her real thoughts on Donald Trump’s administration. Today’s episode of The View was no exception.
Recently, Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan announced he and the President agreed to significantly draw back the number of ICE agents in Minnesota, following weeks of escalating unrest. The hosts of The View took issue with Homan’s defence of ICE’s presence in the state. Sunny accused the Border Czar of lying in a shown clip of a press conference.
Sunny Hostin says Tom Homan is wrong and Minnesota “was terrorized” by ICE
In the clip, Homan claimed ICE acted legally and ethically in Minnesota. “I’m not gonna sit here and say anybody did anything wrong and that they were unprofessional,” he said in a press conference. “I’m gonna say there were some issues here, we fixed those issues, we’ve had great success with this operation. And we’re going to leave Minnesota safer,” he concluded.
However, the women of The View didn’t agree. Sunny in particular called the Border Czar’s comments “simply not true.”
“I think it’s a very political decision, unfortunately, and not a human decision,” she added.
Further on, Sunny criticized the state of emergency and unsafe environment that the administration left the citizens of Minnesota in. “Two people are dead,” she said. Sunny was referring to Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, who were both killed by ICE agents while unarmed, on 7 January and 24 January, respectively.
“There are people that have been injured, that city was terrorized, families were torn apart, kids weren’t going to school. People were afraid to buy groceries. That is complete nonsense.”
“How is Minnesota a safer place? How is it?” Sunny concluded.
Additionally, co-host Sara Haines took issue with Sunny referring to the conduct as “unprofessional”.
Sunny responded, “Well, I think they were unprofessional. Since when do you see masked men pushing women on the ground pepper-spraying people?”.
Conversely, Sara responded, “Unprofessional is a nice way of putting it.”
