Not all actions have consequences. Donald Trump has updated people following a controversial post made about Barack and Michelle Obama. The video posted to his Truth Social depicts the former President and First Lady as apes.
Donald says that one of his staff members published the racist post on his account on February 5. The video was discussing voter fraud and had depictions of Michelle and Barack. That is an issue the President believes caused him to lose the 2020 election to Joe Biden, Barack’s former Vice President.
Donald Trump says the staffer has not been disciplined
He may not have posted it, but Donald evidently has no problem with the video previously shared about the Obamas. At a White House event on Thursday, the President was asked whether he had fired or disciplined the person who posted the video. “No, I haven’t,” Donald responded. He says it was a depiction of The Lion King while also calling it a “very strong piece on voter fraud.”
When the video came out, there was plenty of outrage, even from Republicans. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina called it the “most racist thing” he’s ever seen come out of the White House. The President’s Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, defended the video, claiming it was merely a Lion King depiction. Tim is the first African American to serve in both the House and the Senate.
After the post went viral and angry people demanded it come down, the White House responded. They said it was posted “erroneously” by a White House staffer. On February 7, the President said the person posting it didn’t make a mistake. Donald also refused to apologize for it.
For a long time, Donald has insisted that the 2020 Presidential election was taken unjustly from him. That video has since been taken down.
