On February 12, Ja Rule posted a photo from ABC News’s live broadcast. The image featured a quote from his apology regarding his fight with Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda. He captioned it, “Shout out to the family.”
In his statement to ABC News, the 49-year-old said he was not proud of his behavior, calling it “goofy.” He then said he was going to be a “proud grandfather,” and wished that the video didn’t exist. The “Put It on Me” rapper went on to explain that he doesn’t like being taken “out of character” and apologized to his family, fans, business, and investment partners. He concluded the statement, saying that he wants people to know that he continues to insist that he didn’t start the fight.
ABC News later uploaded the clip of the live segment on Instagram. The post’s caption stated that artists from both exchanges shared their perspectives, with Ja Rule issuing an apology.
The exchange reportedly occurred on a February 8 Delta flight from San Francisco to New York City. Earlier this week, rapper Uncle Murda uploaded two videos on his Instagram account. In the first clip, the “Wonderful” rapper is seen hurling profanity at Murda. In the second clip, Tony Yayo held up a small pillow and claimed that Ja Rule threw it at him.
Later, another video surfaced online showing the “Mesmerize” rapper standing on the aisle, saying, “What are we doing? Let’s shake,” while a man in a white T-shirt appeared to hold him back. Meanwhile, Yayo yelled profanity from off-frame at Ja Rule.
On the same day, Ja Rule addressed the clips with an X post. In the post, he said that he “popped” on the “punks” by himself. He also admitted to throwing the pillow, saying that it was “hilarious.”
